Q: Solved: Microsoft Outlook 2003 Problem

Hello:

Recently I must have done something inadvertently in my outlook as I can no longer open links in any email messages. When I try, the following message appears: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your system administrator." By the way, it is a home computer and I am the system administrator. I called Bell Support as I thought maybe it had something to do with the new McFee Virus Protection that Bell switched to but the issue appears to be related to something I may have done in outlook myself. The tech could not locate the problem. Any ideas? In order to open link I have to cut and paste it into google or such but with some links, this does not work. Any help on this issue would be most appreciated. I am not particularly tech savvy so please keep this in mind when you respond. Thank you.

I'm having trouble with Outlook and receiving one email over and over again. I use Outlook to check my Yahoo mail and I was sent an email from an AOL address. What is happening is that the same email comes in each time Outlook refreshes to check for new mail. Could anyone please help with this problem? Thanks in advance.

edit: Went into Yahoo mail and deleted the repeating email. It seems to have done the trick. Should have tried that before posting. Thanks anyway!

Hello people. Thank you for reading this! I have a problem. I use MS Office 2003. I just bought a new computer since my old one was just dying. That's a different story. I took the PST file from my old one, and put to work on my new machine. Now, when I click on CONTACTS, below MAIL, I see all of my contacts. But when I compose a new massage, and click on "TO:” there is nothing there!! So in order for me to write a letter to a contact, I need to open up my "Contacts" and RIGHT CLICK on one and choose "Compose a New Message", which is totally unacceptable because some e-mails I write, I want to have multiple receivers of. Everything else is fine. All of the folders and subfolders I have, are there. Just this. Please help??

Hi All

OK when I compose an email, font is in 12 Arial Narrow, but the email when it reaches the recipient and also my sent folder the font is quite tiny, why does this change?

I have been to Tools > Options > Stationery and Fonts - I clicked on all three > Choose Font Options and they are all under Arial Narrow 12, this text is more than big enough when I am composing the email but for some reason it changes, does anyone know where I must go to stop the fonts changing when its sent? (yes I did click apply when i reset the font size)

Do I have to increase the font size to something like 26 for it to be normal size in recipients email in boxes?

It's really stumped me, I know my email did not always do this.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention - Microsoft Office 2003 has all its updates and I am using XP Pro which is all up to date also.

Beanie

When I'm using Microsoft Outlook 2003 and try to add an attachment to my e-mail everything locks up. It happens when I click the attach button & get the "insert file" box. When I click the "Look In" drop down menu that's where it locks up. Anyone know what would cause this? It has worked fine up until last night. (I'm runny Microsoft-XP Home Edition)

THANKS

UPDATE: I just tried changing a jpeg on a Microsoft Publisher 2003 file and it locked up too. Any help would be appreciated.

About a month ago when I was making a new image, I migrated from Outlook Express to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (always used the rest of Office but never the email till I made this image) as this is what most work places use where I have worked,

However when I open Microsoft Office Outlook I have it set to send/receive as soon as connected (is what the settings says) most of the time when I open this program it down loads strait away emails from my service provider that has arrived, but every so often it does nothing.

When I open the program I don’t even get the "send/receive complete" message which tells me that there are no emails or it has finished down loading them, and I have to click on the send/receive and then emails down load.

Would anyone know why it does not always do the down load thing every time?

I know not a biggy as far as problems go, but i never encountered this in Outlook Express. Apart from that, it's working perfectly, it's just i am not up on the knowledge as much on Microsoft Outlook as i am with Outlook Express, even though i used it in the work situation and provided desktop support for it,

Thanks

Does anybody know how to get rid of the horizontal lines between emails?

In my "Sent" folder I have horizontal lines between each email. I don't have the horizontal lines in any pother folder though.

This has only been apparent since having my computer back from a repair shop (for a memory upgrade)

Thanks

A:Solved: Microsoft Outlook 2003

The memory upgrade didn't have anything to do with it. It's a view setting. I don't have Office 2003 installed anymore, so I can't give you specific steps. You'll have to look over the different view settings for the various folders in Outlook to compare them and make the necessary changes.

For example: I sent an email to 10 of my friends and i put all the 10 email adresses in the to-field, but I would like to combine all of them, so for example, there is only written: "Friends" in the TO: field, but beneath the FRIENDS in the to-field, are actually ALL OF THE 1o adresses i put in in first place.

A:Solved: Question about Microsoft Outlook 2003

First, you need to have all your friends in your contacts.

Click File -> New -> New Distribution List.
Give it a name, ie; "Friends"
Click Select Members and add whoever you want to the list.
Click the Save and Close button

Start a new message and either type "Friends" in the TO: field or click the TO: button and select Friends from the list.

I have a Windows XP system running Microsoft Outlook 2003. When I have the program opened, I go to the top and click on "File". Then I click on "Open". This brings up a window with the choices for "Selected Items", "Other User's Folder", and "Outlook Data File". Just below the last choice is a line and then a history of peoples calendars I have had access to in the past. Is there a way to clear this list from the program?

Even my American friend's names are written in Russian! (Spelled with Russian letters) When I do the export and import, the entire address book is not readable! It's a bunch of signs and symbols, basically not readable! How do I import/export the address book, so I can see who am I composing to?

Hey,

When you send an e-mail or receive one from outlook, by default it looks for the person in your contacts and puts the display name up instead.

But when reading the e-mail it displays

John Doe [mailto:[email protected]]
To: Jane Doe

How do you get rid of the mailto:etc, etc ??? I would prefer a hyperlink instead of the mailto because then it reveals the person's e-mail address.

I know you could just hover over it or click on the hyperlink to find out the e-mail, but I'm just asking for the purpose of printing. I don't want my e-mail address shown in a long stream of E-mail send's and replies between a friend when I print it.

If there is a setting in Outlook to turn this off, please let me know, I fooled around with everything and I cant get it to work.

A:PROBLEM: Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002/2003 E-Mail Display

Under "tools/options/prefrences/e-mail options/advanced e-mail options " You can select "automatic name checking" which I think will convert the mailto to a name if it is in the global address or contacts list. I don't know what that does to people you send to I would think it depends on their setting...

I'm about to buy a new p.c. to replace my 7 year-old model (lucky me!). I want to download ALL my Outlook emails on to a stick for storage and for potential upload to the new p.c. I recently downloaded the programme as an experiment, but am unable to access the emails on the stick, although the icon is present.

Do I have to restore to the p.c. before I can access the information on the stick? I am hesitant to try this on my current machine as if I restore the version stored on the stick I assume this will override what is currently in Outlook, thereby losing any newer emails.

Hope I've explained my problem adequately and look forward to some help.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop computer that are networked together.

I run Microsoft Outlook 2003 on both computers, and I would like to share the data between the two.

For example, is it possible to automatically have Microsoft Outlook 2003 synchronise elements such as the address book and e-mail messages? I am looking at a way to avoid having to manually update new contacts, etcetera, on both machines.

More specifically...how can I have the "Data File" (".PST") automatically updated between the two machines?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a strange problem with Microsoft Word 2003 SP3.

It only happens on new docs. I'm a writer and when I open ongoing projects in Word everything is fine, but when I open a new doc. my Page Setup doesn't work. If I set it to have 1" of space top, bottom and sides, it doesn't work on the top. My first line starts at the very top of the page.

Also, the ruler up the left side should be dark where that top inch of space should be, but it isn't because it's not working. I discovered a temporary fix in Page Setup by setting the top space to be 2" and the sides and bottom to be 1". However, even doing this I don't get the dark inch or so at the top of my left margin ruler.

I did a repair in ADD Remove Programs but it didn't change anything. It might be a corruption in Word because I have the same Office 2003, SP3 on my laptop and I've compared all the settings on both computers and they appear to be identical.

Has anyone here run into this problem, and do you think uninstalling and reinstalling Office might solve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I believe Outlook 2003 has become corrupted and produces the following error when I attempt to open it: Unable to Open Default Email Folders. Errors have been detected in Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst.

There is a multitude of info on the net regarding this error and I believe I have tried everything including some Demo repair software. Scanpst.exe will not work.

I have set up Outlook on a different profile and managed to import emails and contacts but not account info, which is fine. But I am unable to move this over to the user where I need it to reside. Even after deleting and reinstalling on the user profile the error persists. I am guessing there is something in the registry that is preventing Outlook from opening, solely on this user profile.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

I am pretty familiar with ol2K, but this ol2003 problem has me stumped.

My wife is running Office2003 under WinXP Pro SP2. Some of the "actions" that I would expect to be dynamic, i.e., they happen when I click on the relevant button or menu pick do not seem to happen until ol is exited and restarted. For example:
1) when ol is started, the pop mail server is queried and any mail downloaded. But I can find no way to tell ol to periodically query the mail server for new mail. No new mail comes down until the next time ol is started. Clicking on the Send/Receive button does nothing. The setting in Tools|Options|MailSetUp|Send/Receive are what I think they should be.
2) similarly, when a message is sent, it sits in the Outbox until ol exits. Clicking on the Send/Receive button does nothing.
3) the Favorites area contains a few folders including the InBox. When ol starts, the InBox "reference" in Favorites and the reference in "All Mail Folders" are identical. But after new mail is fetched, the apparent content in the two references is different. Only the Favorites reference contains the new mail. The All Mail Folders reference does not. Again, ol must be exited and restarted for the references to be the same. Examining properties for the two InBox indicate that they are exactly the same pst file (as they should be).

Any help would be appreciated.

It depends on the incoming email that you are copying the text from. Not all of them come in as HTML it depends on the senders email format. If it comes in a splain text replying to it will go out as plain text, same goes for copying a massage with formatting other than HTML.

Current Problem -: Outlook is downloading TWO IDENTICAL COPY emails, and If I delete or send to Junk Folder one copy, it deletes/moves the other copy!

If I view my emails using my Web Browser based email client, I only see ONE copy of the email (as it should be)

A couple of things I've noticed about Outlook behaving differently is -:
a) The Send/Receive progress % does'nt show anymore

b) If I navigate on Outlook to Tools, Option, Mail Setup - when I select the Send/Receive Options, nothing happens (there are no further options). the same is true if I try to access the Send/Receive Options via the toolbar

c) The 1st of the duplicate emails is blank with the following header -: "This is a message header. The Full Item has not been downloaded", the 2nd duplicate email has the relevant email information

Any ideas?

A:Solved: Duplicate Emails Problem - Outlook 2003

Well try this...go on the webmail and create a new folder and move all the emails to the new folder ...
That should take care of this issue which happens becoz of email corruption and remember its an imap account i.e.mirror image of webmail ...so if you delete emails in webmail or outlook you wont be able to find them anywhere

I've been running an Outlook 2003 client to my AOL mail using IMAP for quite a while.
I just tried to create a 2nd connection to my gmail account and I have been unable to establish the connection.
I was pretty careful following the gmail instructions - enabling IMAP there; and, I was also pretty careful to follow the instructions on the outlook side. But, I've gone over it and over it and can't find the problem.....

It's caused me to wonder if Outlook 2003 can manage 2 IMAP connections at the same time?

I also noticed that the AOL connection in Outlook requires specific ports for each connection (send/receive) but there was nothing about that in the gmail instructions.

I also know that I've entered smtp.aol.com incorrectly several times. But, unless I'm going blind, I entered smtp.gmail.com correctly for the address of the outgoing mail server.

Help!!!

Yes they should pick up specific ports
see here for imap settings on gmail http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78799

Hi,
I’m working with “Microsoft Outlook 2003” and I have setup 2 different Email Accounts. The first one is for private stuff only and the second one is just for business. I created an automatic signature, which automatically includes itself when answering, creating or responding to an email.
But I would like it to be the case, that the signature only inserts itself, when working with my BUSINESS account and not with the private one.
Does anyone have any idea how to do so?

Thanks

HI,

I have a serious problem with Microsoft Outlook 2003. It wont stop receiving mail
.Once it downloads the mail from the mail server. It doesnt stop, it just continues to download mail(the same mail) over and over again.

A:Microsoft Outlook 2003

Odd. In your POP3 settings for the account, click the Advanced button. Move to the Advanced tab and see if "keep a copy of messages on server" is ticked.

Even if it is, Outlook shouldn't behave in this way as the message on the server should be flagged as read... but it's worth a look.

How do I uninstall outlook all together.. all registry's, files, etc? so I can start from scratch? I am getting errors and have searched and search the internet but none of the fixes are working. my current error is..

Unable to open your default e-mail folders. Errors have been detected in the file C:\Documents and Settings\Kimberly MaddoxReihl\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see Help.

But I cant get Outlook to open at all to run the fix. So I give up unless someone has a magic wand.

I have a mailbox which receives mails from lot of systems and forwards it to some email IDs and a pager. Now instead of sending it to several email IDs i have to setup it up in such a way that it forwards all the received mails by adding a cell phone number(single cell number) and forward it to another mail box.
Summing it up, the change would be to add a cell phone number to the received mails and forward it to another mailbox.
Can someone please help me with this case.

I have client who can’t attach anything to his emails. I checked all the permissions and it says he has unrestricted access to mail plus he has full control of the files he is wishing to send. I have also checked that the macros are used so he can send and it is working. The cache email is unchecked like it is suppose to be but he still cant attach files. It says in the error message to check the permissions and I have, yet it doesn’t work. Do you have any ideas? This is probably a little fix but I am racking my brain and I can’t find it. A:Microsoft Outlook 2003,

have a read here
http://www.techieshelp.com/set-inbox-to-show-unread-emails-only/

The first way we can do this is to set outlook to the Unread Message Only view.
In Outlook 2003, first go to View ,then select Arrange By, then Current View then finally Unread Messages in This Folder.

A second way we can do this is by making an Unread Mail Search Folder.
If you use Outlook 2003 or 2007, first choose File then select New then click Search Folder. Select the option for Unread Mail and then click OK.

I am using microsoft outlook 2003 (professional) and had no problems sending/receiving emails. Now, people I emailed hundreds of times can not receive my emails. About 70 % are being received but some just don't go through. My internet provider kept saying the problem was on the other end but when I have someone forward the email from their computer, it goes through. What is blocking some emails? They are showing as sent in my sent box but I never get a delivery receipt back or an error message.??? Any help?
