Hello All:

This may be a thread for the security forum...but here goes. I recently set up a small wireless home network with a wired desktop and wireless laptop. Everything works great. Both run XP SP2 and I use the free versions of ZoneAlarm and Avast for firewall and antivirus. My router is a D-Link DI-524 with WPA security and MAC address filtering enabled. The other night I was messing around with a site that tests your firewall vulnerability and everything passed except it was indicated to me that while surfing I am making my public IP address available (which I guess is OK), but that the site could also read my private IP address. I'm not sure what that even is except that I think it has something to do with my router. Does anyone know exactly what a private IP address is? Also, how bad is it that it can be seen on the web? How do I block it from being seen? Any help is appreciated.

Sorry I did not take a picture of this error, but I've been getting it pretty often. "Windows has detected an IP address conflict". It does not seem to cause serious problems, but I'd like to understand the problem.

Any ideas?

This is a Gateway desktop, operating in a household with wifi. Other people use the wifi to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime or Google's Youtube.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running Win7 x64. My PC is connected directly to a Netgear R7000 router to which several other devices are connected wirelessly and directly. This setup has been stable for several months. I started getting the title error two or three days ago, roughly 40 times/hour. I went into Event Viewer and saw that Event ID 1014 (Warning: DNS Client Services) always occurs contemporaneously with the error, and Event ID 4199 (Error: Tcpip) does about 25% of the time; 4199 only appear when 1014 does.

The full text of the 1014 is "Name resolution for the name timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded." Though the leading digit in the address (6 in this example) varies.

The full text of the 4199 is "The system detected an address conflict for IP address :: with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result." This text is always the same.

I've tried ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, to no effect.

Any ideas? Thanks.

That happens with my Netgear at times too. I power it off, wait for 30 seconds and power it back on. That fixes it.

My best guess is something is not set right on you DHCP server.

Do you have any pcs with a static address?

In the computer with a conflict run these two commands from an elevated command prompt.

Click start orb
Type cmd
Right click on cmd.exe select run as admin

Run these two commands

I'm setting up a small network and learning the basics as I go along.

WAN access (internet) is via a wireless netgear modem/router (DG834G) with DHCP enabled, and DNS provided by my ISP.

4 pc's access this via wireless pci nics, 3 Ralink chipsets and 1 Atheros chipset. 2 XP SP2, 1 W2K, 1 Linux Ubuntu. WPA PSK is enabled, ssid is changed from default, admin password is changed from default.

Everything up to this point is fine, secure to date and reliable.

One of the XP wireless pc connections also has a 10/100 intel based pci nic. This is bridged to the wireless nic and connected to an 8 port switch with auto negotiation. (I think that's the term, it detects source and clients without crossover cables?)

From the switch I have 3 boxes, 1 XP SP2, 1 ME and 1 W98. All patched and updated.

Inittially I used the XP network wizard to set up the XP router box for ICS, and when that didn't succeed (despite indicating which way to the WAN and which way to the LAN it would always look to the LAN side for internet according to the tray indicators.) I tried the bridging method. I have had immediate success with that, and have progressed through manual ip addresses to now running all clients as obtaining ip addresses automatically.

I now only have manual addresses on the XP routers wireless and wired nic's, set up before the bridge is installed (which after numerous restarts is now running auto ip address for the bridge itself.). After some earlier research o... Read more

I have been having trouble in the past few months with my PS3 online (this problem is solved) so I have been keeping a pretty close eye on my router and the attached devices. About a week ago I started noticing a new IP/mac address appearing on my router by clicking on "attached devices". I have tried everything to get this thing to go away, except resetting the router b/c I don't want to have to go through and set up the port forwarding again to my PS3. If all my devices are connected to my internet (iMac-ethernet, Macbook, PS3, and iPhone - last 3 wireless) my router shows 5 IP/mac addresses attached to my internet. I have changed my password to log into router settings, changed my WPA password, ssn is hidden, limited my dhcs as server IP address to only 3 for my 3 wireless devices, which all have static ip set up. blocked the unknown IP from accessing all the preset ports. Enabled my mac firewall and stealth mode. I think thats everything and still this IP shows up. I live in a 7 story apt building so I am pretty sure its someone inside hacking internet. How do I remove this person and keep him away from my internet?

Sorry for this being so long, but I wanted to be thorough:

Windows has detected another pc with the same IP address...also yellow ! on wireless.
I just got this laptop 2 months ago. Everything has been great, until the last week. I was losing internet sporadically and at one time I didn't have internet for awhile so I reset my Windstream router. Then a message said to register my internet, which I did. I also had windstream come in and they said my phone lines needed work so they set up a separate line for the phone and a separate line for the internet. I thought that would fix the problems I have been having.

I get a message about 3 times a day that says "Windows has detected another PC with the same IP address". I only have 1 laptop and an IPOD Touch. What is causing this message?

A lot of the times I lose the internet and I see a yellow explanation point over the wireless icon in my that time all the lights were on the router. I shut down my laptop and the internet is back. One time I believe I clicked on the exlplanation point and was able to get it back, but I'm not 100% sure on that. What is causing this? I have Norton 360 installed...could that be it? I believe there was an update for Adobe or Windows or something that came up at startup one day that I performed....could that be it? Is it my internet provider Windstream? My router? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, this is my family's first laptop and first experience having the internet.

I have tried release/renew of my IP address and also reseting my router to factory settings to no avail. I am lost at this point on what I should do next. Can someone give me a hand? Thanks!

Hi guys
I already posted my question on Microsoft answers (, it was suggested there that I post it here as well:
Since the latest update to Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (KB3148198), my users experience the following message (on Win7, Win 8.1 and Win 10):

Of course, this is disturbing for many of my users, and, what's worse, since we use dynamic local profiles in our company (i.e. the user profile is created from the DEFAULT profile on each and every login), this message shows up after each and every login
which normally happens once a day.

My colleagues (and my boss!) have asked me to get rid of this message.

I have monitored what happens in the registry when you choose "Your current settings", it writes quite some strange registry entries (HEX-values) which all have something to do with "SyncHomePage Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy

Specifically, I'm talking about what's written in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\EUPP Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See

I have two user accounts with Internet Explorer and Yahoo homepages. One is clearly superior to the other: More and better information, and just looks better. I have tried to change the one I don't like to match the other, but I can't do it. It's probably something simple - I'm almost to the point of completely deleting the one I don't like and starting over. The only thing stopping me is that I don't want to lose my address book contents. I transfered my Favorites and made a copy of my address book, but I am having trouble getting the address book contents into the other Yahoo! Mail account. I downloaded and installed the latest IE8 version, but that didn't do anything(if I did it right). The one I like better is newer, but I don't know why or how I got it. ?

Maybe I can get an answer here. In User Control, I have two exact email addresses under User Names. Under Groups, both are said to be Administrators. I've got two computers running windows 7. Both have an administrator account and a standard user account. The computer I use for gaming has a third account for gaming (I have some older games that don't like the aero-peak feature so the gaming account uses a plain desktop, no features.)

All these accounts use the same email address.

All these accounts will also use just the one Microsoft account.

My question is, when I upgrade to windows 10, will I be able to create a similar set-up for the user accounts, ie 5 different accounts, but only one email address and one Microsoft account? I've read that windows wants an email address to create a new account, is it going to tell me "that email address/Microsoft account has already been used?"

I am planning to upgrade to windows 10 by doing a clean install and starting from scratch, so I'm not worried about whether or not the existing accounts will transfer over.

A:different user accounts, only one email address?

Hi Geoff, welcome to the Ten Forums.

In Windows 10 it is not possible to use the same MS account for more than one user account on the same computer. If User-A signs in with an MS account [email protected], that MS account (email address) cannot be used to sign in any other user than User-A. User-B needs to use either a different MS account or a local account. However, you can use the same MS account on multiple computers.

There's no way to work around this restriction.

In your case I would simply install Windows 10 on both computers with a local admin account, then create an additional standard user account as an MS account on both computers using the same email address. If any of the two computers requires the gaming account, too, as you explained I would make this account a local account.

Clean install: Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums (Step 23 shows how to make your initial admin account a local account)Create additional users: User Account - Add in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums (Option Four explains how to create the additional user as an MS account, Option Three how to create the gaming account as a local account)

A feature of Outlook Express allows you to create additional email account addresses (sub-user). I created some, however my email recipients are not able to respond to me using the new addresses. All I receive is a notification of email "delivery failure."

I tried to register for a forum using the new email address; and a message said I had established an account and that I would receive an email to use to activate my account. However, I never received the email.

Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance ...

A:Newly Created, Sub-user Email Address

Just out of curiosity, besides adding the identities did you also add the relevant SMTP information for the newly created identities? Just adding the identities, isn't enough. You need to set up the SMTP information too.

When I was installing and setting up WCP, I could not get it to recognize my Windows Live ID hotmail address (I don't know why), so I set it up with a new hotmail address. I figured "no big deal... I'll just set up a new hotmail account later and change my Windows Live ID to match it". Hah. Big mistake. Now I cannot get hotmail to give me that account name... it's already taken (yeah, I know... by me!)

hi all
we have Laptop's with windows 7 professional 64bit in domain. admin rights are restricted to the domain users. But many users most of the time use to travel out of station and need to change the IP that time. I tried adding domain user ID's in "network configuration operator" group but still not able to change IP from domain user without giving admin right. can any body tell me any other processes to change IP from domain user not having admin rights in windows 7 ?

A:how to change IP address from a non admin user ID in windows 7 pro 64?

Can't you just set the PC to boot of DHCP? I'm presuming you have a DHCP Server? If its installed on a Windows Server then you can reserve the address so that you dont have to mess with printer configuration again etc.

I believe the Power Users group may also have the right to change the IP address. The network configuration operator group should work though (as you said).

A:How Do I change User/Email address sign in - BUT

Hello Mark, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you mean to use a different email address for your Microsoft account, then you could add the new email address as an alias, then change your primary alias to be the new email address instead.

The tutorial below can help show you more details on how to do this.

I'm an experienced user and tried all solutions found on google, but this problem is really hard to fix.

I just bought a brand new Razer Mamba mouse. The mouse is not faulty, it is working on another computer, but not on mine. I used different logitech mice before trying this one, it is the first time i have a problem installing a mouse in 20 years of working with computers...

The weird thing is that the mouse is detected and working (i can move it) in the BIOS, but not after booting Windows

- The mouse lights up, but is not detected anywhere
- Razer Synapse 2.0 is installed, but it is not detecting the mouse
- In Device Manager "Razer Mamba Dock" is not correctly installed (labeled as Unknown Device)
- I tried installing older drivers, but it's still not detecting the mouse
- I tried updating the firmware, doesn't work

- Tried wireless or wired, same problem
- I tried 6 different USB ports, USB2 and USB3
- All USB ports power settings are configured correctly (Windows is set to NOT turn off USB to save power)
- Old drivers of the old logitech mouse is uninstalled
- I tried using the safe mode, didn't help
- Tried using only 1 mouse at time and booting Windows with only the mouse in USB ports
- Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers countless of times, and also tried without drivers
- Tried forcing windows to manually install the drivers of the Unknown Device, but it won't let me
- Tried with a different Windows user
- All drivers are up to date, same for BIOS

I just detected in my Windows' users' folder an user we don't have at home: wangzhisong
I checked in Internet and it looks like that it can be a virus or something similar. After running AVG and Avira rescues CDs to clean up my machine this folder still exists and I'm not sure if my computer is clean. What can I do? Thanks!
Kind regards

A:I detected the user wangzhisong in my Windows' users' folder

Hi, Frank;
If the folder is empty, it is to be hoped that the problem is gone. However, I would recommend downloading and using Malware Bytes as it goes a little deeper into malware as well as viruses. Although I like AVG, it doesn't always find everything. If MB doesn't find anything, and you find your pc running slower than usual or having unusual errors, it might be necessary to run some other programs and/or tests that others here would have more expertise with.
Good Luck!

Define your version of clever, since your a programmer.
Just by looking at rombertik I would say the antivirus/malware companies and possibly MS ight need to program a special tool for dos and have it look for the malware algorithm.
Also seing as how this is serious, I would say they would need to boot before os starts up and take it down.
I don't even program but atleast I can see of a few ways to get rid of it safely.

Greetings all I'm hoping someone could help me with this little problem my brother has gotten himself into. A few days ago I'm going to wager the 23rd of this month my brother's laptop somehow got infected with a Rootkit. No clue how he got it my brother is pretty careful about his internet browsing. Then again these things are designed to be very difficult to detect. I've noticed some other folks having similar problems so this must be a new threat possibly. The main symptoms the computer displays are that it's exceedingly slow to do anything, IE start up, browse files and folders, browse the internet. It will commonly hang as if frozen from time to time as well. Trying to restart it or shut it down causes the system to lock up at the "system is shutting down" screen requiring a forced shutdown and on the 23rd a new user called "HelpAssistant" was created. AVG found a bunch of stuff in this user's local settings/temp directory. I'm gonna assume those were what caused the initial infection. Disabling the account in Local users and groups and then restarting the computer just causes the folder to be recreated but rather then just "HelpAssistant" it will use "Helpassistant.*random username*" The folder contains copies of important operating system files from the main account on the computer making it hard to remove and causing it to take up 2-3 gigs of unneeded space. Deleting the folder nets the same result its just recreated at start up.... Read more

My boss is putting a quick program for me together and I believe he's writing it in VB. Before I passed out, he was attempting to use the registry to provide him with the external address for any given computer. Meaning, the IP address of the router, if their is a router (IP address for the computer(s) attached to the Internet). This is simply going to be displayed in a message box with a couple buttons (he called it a form).

He had no luck getting the address out of registry, so we were thinking of putting together a quick html file to put on one of our own servers, then this little program he's writing would access that URL to obtain the needed IP address.

In effect, we're trying to do the same as what you would achieve if you were to visit and just get the address from there. But, we don't want a browser window to open, and would like the IP address to be cleanly embedded into the form. Anybody know of an easy way to do this?

Hello, I recently had an issue with all of my user profile settings including favorites, address book entries and settings for various programs such as registration info etc. This happened as I was reading my EMail. Suddenly, all of my firefox and IE settings were gone, and my user folder named, Ronald becamed corrupted. Don't know if anything malware crept in, or if a rogue attacked my computer, for my security software became unregestered as a result of this sudden glitch. Any help would be appreciate as to how I can get my old settings back if possible.

A:favorites, address book entries and user profile settings gone

Reboot the computer.  Access your account.  Is it normal, if so great.  If not look in C:\Users and see if there is a folder with your user name or possibly Owner and see if your Favorites are in the Favorites folder.  If there is a user folder and your favorites are in there then you are getting a temporary profile and you will need to rebuild your profile.

I have emailed the websites support twice expressing my concerns but i would like to know exactly what i could do about this but i am still unsure as i don't think i can complain to anyone or take things further.

They have failed to reply to 2 of my emails

Hi everyone! New to the forums. I searched the web a bit and stumbled upon this site, as well as a few threads that contained the same problem I have... but none had the exact same issue I have. Ok, here it goes.

There are about 3 laptops, one desktop, and 2 gaming consoles that are using the router. Everything connects fine expect the one laptop. It is an ASUS laptop running Windows 7. Whenever the laptop is going to connect to the internet every other device using the internet is stalled for a few moments, then reconnects. The computers then give the IP Address Conflict message. This is extremely frustrating. Sometimes it happens when people are accessing the Web for college assignments, and sometimes gaming, which is annoying to get disconnected from. I have tried to release / renew the IP, but it tells me it can't complete the process. I really wish you guys can help me out here. I don't see where it can be anything but that laptop... everything else has been using the web without issues for years. Only this new laptop brings the error up. I need some help--I believe my son 12 year old son is visiting inappropriate website while we are at work. At the end of the night I clean out the temporary internet folder to free up space on the computer and last night I was just scan the folder and found all kinds of porn websites!! So I clean it out and when I logged on this evening the sites he normally visits are there but so where other porn sites.

Tell if Im wrong but is it true that every website you visit is recorded in the temp internet folder? and so popups get space there and when those cookies automatically go there is the computer is just left on which is what he is trying to tell me.

So is there another way to find out a list of websites that have been visited.

I really need to get these questions asked.

Hello all,
I am having a problem with all of the browsers on my computer directing to a spam search site when I try to visit certain websites.

I believe the problem started when I installed this software to help me switch audio output very easily:

I've done the following:
1) Run updated Malware bytes Anti Malware
2) Run TDSS Rootkit Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
3) Run Virus Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
4) Reset my cookies in Chrome.
5) Read the "Before posting a log" on this forum (the sticky post).
6) Updated my notification options as recommended.
I could not run GMER as I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

I've attached my DDS/Attach/Hijack logs.

I have a smc router, and sometimes i need to change the ip address on my dmz zone to connect to xbox live games (or it takes forever to get into games). anyway, since yesterday i can't get into the devices webpage to change my settings, everytime i try it just keeps the "internet explorer cannot display webpage".
so im wondering if there is another way to change these settings? or why is it saying that? we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that, but i can't imagine it not being fixed as of yet.
thanks in advance.

A:is there a way to get into my router without visiting the webpage?

we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that,Click to expand...

It may have damaged the router
you could try resetting the router - there will be a reset button on the back, this will take it back to factory condition, however, that will mean resetting all the settings, and if it resets and still will not let you log into the router, then you will probably no longer have any internet access, as you can not set this up....

If you have the Setup CD that may have come with the router - you maybe able to access the settings via setup CD.

I am very concerned letting them use my PC as they may download a virus or install a key logger. (Kapersky is installed and shows up under the guest identity on XP. But I think perhaps they could turn it off and bypass it?)

What would be the best way to allow them computer access?

Hi, thought I'd see if all is well on the folk's PC, since I'm not up close and personal with it like this often. For one thing I think the google toolbar entries are different than they are on other machines I have it on. (Mainly want to make sure nothing sinister is going on, but would also be interested in shutting off everything that can be. For example I did install Windows Messenger and enable Remote Assistance since we are going to try that when the need arises after I leave again, but assume I should figure out how to keep Windows Messenger from being on all the time. It's not enabled in msconfig or anything.)

I've been having this problem intermittently since I moved into my new place a few months ago.

The setup: 2Wire modem/router -> Belkin wireless extender -> My computer, game consoles, whatever

It works fine most of the time, but occasionally decides to act up in a variety of ways:

- The one mentioned in the thread title. Everything will be working fine, then the IP address conflict message just kinda pops up. Check the extender and router through my phone (because I can't access them through my computer), and I see that there is clearly no conflict. No other device is trying to use the same IP address as my computer.

This used to happen like once a month, but it's happened four times in the past two days. Happened once while I was typing this up, in fact. I've tried resetting my computer's IP address through the command prompt. That doesn't work. I can usually fix it by resetting or unplugging the router and/or the extender, but sometimes I have to do it multiple times.
- Internet just drops here and there... then comes back on a few minutes later. When this happens, I can access the extender, but not the router. And it doesn't only happen to my computer, which is really frustrating when I try to play a game online or something. I've basically given up on that by now after being dropped constantly.

This happens frequently, like at least once every couple hours. The best I can do about it is just refresh Google or something ... Read more

Today, while  visiting a website with IE, I suddenly got a new window which contained a message from "NSA+ FBI" ( or smthg like that), telling me that I am at risk of being thrown to jail for the next 5-7 years unless I pay a fine of about 150$ either with my credit card or by buying some sort of prepaid phone cards. It was imposible for me to close the window or to use CTRL+ ALT+DEL so as to close it from Task Manager. So, I shut down the computer from the start menu.
After restarting it, the internet works much slower.
Since then, I ran a quick scan with my Security Essentials (updated right before starting the scan), which lasted for about 70 minutes (!!!) but found nothing . I have also performed a scan using Microsoft's Safety Scanner, which returned the result that there are no unwanted programs on my computer.
But if no unwanted software is on my computer, then how come did I got that screen asking me for money on behalf of CIA/ FBI.. etc... ?????

So I've always wondered if you can get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?
I always thought this was a No, because I believe a user is only infected when he/she opens up that malware/virus FILE, once you open it up and install it then you are infected.
I know there are drive by downloads, but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.
Malware/virus can't infect your computer unless you open the file, right?

A:can you get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?

Hi NEMS Yes, it's entirely possible to get infected by simply visiting a website. Most commonly via what we call "Exploit Kits". Right now, EK are used to deliver a lot of dangerous malware (such as banking trojans and Cryptoware) to computers worldwide. So using a standard Antivirus and Antimalware won't cut it. Using a program that protects your web browser against such threats, like Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit will. but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.This is assuming that the file pushed on your system is already known to your Antivirus or Antimalware (in its database). If it's not, it won't do anything. And we all know that no products have a 100% detection ratio.Edit: For more information on Exploit Kits and how they work, see the article below.Tools of the Trade: Exploit Kits

Ive been battling this issue for a few days now. whenever i visit sites such as myspace or, when im either searching around on the sites my computer will lock up. i can hear it processing information as if it were getting sent massive amounts of information, yet when i check the sites on another computer in my house i dont have these issues. i tried disabling javascript and it worked for part of the problem, but when i started to search the website further, i encountered the issue again. This occurs with both internet explorer and firefox, and my flashplayer and windows media player are both updated. ive searched my computer with spybot and adaware.

I didn't click on any of the advertisements or install any new programs or download any files. But within 5 minutes of my visiting the page, popups began to rapidly show up. I usually use FireFox, but they were coming from Internet Explorer. They were coming very fast- maybe 20 within as many seconds, so I unplugged my wireless router and forcibly disconnected my computer from the internet.

I used another computer to look up tutorials on how to get rid of a malware problem, and downloaded recommended programs. I also edited the registry myself and deleted registry keys that were obviously associated with the malware that hadn't been there before (named things like "vvxxasjdfdsf.exe" and such) but this malware is obviously beyond my limited expertise, because it is still there.

My computer hasn't been connected to the internet since. (I'm using a different computer to post here.)

When the computer's on, Internet Explorer attempts to connect to the internet every few minutes. For the first few minutes where I didn't realize I had a problem, I'm pretty sure it connected to more malware sites and downloaded more crap onto my computer. Spybot seems to have gotten almost everything, except for the very stubborn root problem, which Spybot says is "Smitfraud.C"

I joined an on-line forum and for some reason I am unable to post any messages, or reply to any posts. When I attempt to do either one, I received an error message from Internet Explorer which says it has encountered a problem and must close. It only closes that forum"s window, all other windows using IE are up and running. I belong to numerous other on-line forum and have no problems in posting.

The site recognizes me and I am able to read all postings; and I am able to use the forum?s personal message program. Using the PM program, I explained my problem to the site administrator??..this is her response:

?I understand now, but I'm not sure I can help. It may be a security setting, but I also fear it may be malware. I might start with lowering your security (if you're comfortable) and a virus scan?

I have no virus, at least not one that Norton product can detect, my security setting is set at a medium setting. I do not use any other browser.

I would appreciate any help you can provide me. Thanks.

I am rephrasing the question to be more specific. I cannot see how my first request was inappropriate. I have not needed to set up a network in years, so I hope someone has the answer to my question.

I am paying for my home internet, and I do not want anyone visiting pron websites. Is their any tool that can alert me if one of my friends is accessing inappropriate material on the website. Someone closed my question before, so I guess knowing how to share their internet histories is NOT the proper answer.

I will not stand for people looking at bad websites, so I hope someone can point me to a decent solution.

I'm pretty sure I've been hit with something, but I'm not sure how to trace it down.
I need to try to identify what it is so I can make sure i know what they were looking for.
Here's one of the only screenshots Ive been able to grab of the offending software.
It appears to customize what is displayed based upon GeoIP.
Where do I begin? I haven't done malware removal in depth since XP SP2.

I am trying to figure out why I cannot send out emails while I am visiting family. I have access to the internet and can receive emails without problem, but I cannot send out messages, even though I have confirmed that my outgoing email settings are correct. I can send out emails when I am at home and accessing my home network wirelessly, but when I visit family, I cannot send out emails. I am using a laptop with Vista and all of the current Windows updates and am using Outlook 2007 for email. My mom has the same problem when she comes to my house though. Her email works perfectly at home, but when she comes to my house and uses my network, she can receive email, but not send. Any thoughts?

A:can receive, not send out when visiting friends

If the person you are visiting has different ISP than you, you will have to connect to that ISP's network in order to send mail with an email client.

You can check with YOUR ISP to find out what settings you need to change OR see if is an FAQ which will guide you through configuring the client for use when traveling OR you can use your ISP web mail.

I have a:
Gateway laptop Gateway Laptop
AMD Turion 64 mobile
Technology ML-30
1.59 GHz, 448 MB of RAM
Windows XP Media Center edition (service pack 3).

I bought it two years or so ago. Since as long as I can remember I have had this problem.

when I am on my browser (I use chrome, firefox, and IE) my wireless connection will cut out after a while. I have noticed that if I am on just one site (example: it can be fine for hours. But once I start going to different sites, I eventually get kicked off. It can be any website, Facebook, youtube, etc.

When I lose connectivity, I refresh my wireless connections and only the printer comes up. If I try to right click on the tray icon to repair internet connection, it freezes. I am guessing that this is a hardware problem. (?) Though I'm not extremely technical with computers, I know my way around most issues that can arise.

I have reformatted my hard drive (twice) and all my software is up to date. I have run AVG scan and Ad Aware scan hundreds of times. Can anyone offer assistance? Thank you very much!

I've not had this happen to me before. On visiting "RosariansCorner" I receive the attached message.

I can get to the site through the cached sites in Google but can't navigate the actual site.

Have you come across this before. Other sites are fine. I'm using Firefox and Windows XP.

Thank you.

We recently added a filter to our computer because of our children. Each week we get a report on sites that we attempted to be opened, but are blocked. There are several, but one in particular is on there all the time and has a high percentage. I am wondering if anyone recognizes it and if it is possible that somehow there is something on our computer that is automatically leading us there. We have not gone to it ever as far as I know.

It is:

We have both AdAware SE and Spybots and run them regularly.

Hi MNgirl,

1° Download LSPFix from .

2° Create a permanent folder like C:\Program Files\LSP and extract the download zip file into that folder.

3° Log your computer in safe mode (hit F8 many times during booting procedure);

4° Disable your System Restore : have a look to Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore ;

5° Close all open windows - it is very important;

6° Run LSPFix : click only the Fix button;

7° Reboot normally and post a new HijackThis log.

Greetings from Finland!

Thanks for a very useful page!

After a visit on a warez-page the weirdest things happened to my computer..
Luckily, it seems like most of them are gone now, thanks to this page! I found the program HijackThis and were able to get
rid of some annoying stuff, for instance that "". What is that by the way?

One thing is still bothering me though and believe that's because of the same warez-page. It's kind of strange acctually...
Some pages (for instance and started to run REALLY slow! And it doesn't
seem to have anything to do with the internet connection itself; when i check Task Manager-->Performance-->CPU Usage, it's¨
like 100%! Despite I don't do anything!
What is the problem and moreover, how do I fix it? Would it help you if I posted one of those "hijack-logs"?

Thanks in advance!
(Feels good to know that all skilled people out there aren't evil hackers )

I'm usually a lot smarter than this.. but I read someones post in a forum about how a website has set up a popular game, San Andreas Multiplayer, in a frame that remotes a machine so you can play in the browser. The game is a bit more involved than a typical browser game, so of course i figured it would be unplayable at best, but curiosity got the best of me and I visited the site.I immediately figured out that it was just a video of someone logging into a server, and i was most likely being infected while watching.. I checked around and saw some minimal info about the site including this post: site I visited was: www, sampfreeonline,tk .. which points to: samponlinefree, orq,pl(dots were replaced with commas so no one clicks by accident)Can anyone verify if this is indeed a malicious site.. I'm thinking I have a keylogger installed now and its just waiting for me to join a server... ..or even worse..Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
