I have a HP pavilion dv6 laptop with a Intel(R) centrino(R) wireless 1030. After I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 it worked fine until after a few times of restart (after update). All of a sudden the wireless would not turn on. If i hit the wireless key, all it does is turn airplane mode on and off. When I go into the "Network and Internet" under settings, the switch that would turn wifi on would imediately turn flip off. I also noticed that the wifi Intel centino is "not connected". My Ethernet still works, but wifi does not. I have updated the drivers, and went into command prompt to enter in"reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f" but it said "error: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value."and "netcfg -v -u dni_dne"which showed"trying to uninstall dni_dne ...... dni_dne is not installed....done." how do i fix thix problem?

A:Can't Turn on Wifi on laptop after windows 10 upgrade

try reinstalling windows as the latest update of windows 10 has a few known bugs. Use the ?go back? feature to uninstall the Anniversary Update.  Once removed, you can re-install using the Windows Update Assistant by going to the Windows 10 download page and clicking the Update Now button. There are two methods to uninstall the Anniversary Update:  Method 1: Using the Recovery Console1.      Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you select Power > Restart.2.      After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Go back to the previous build.  If you don?t see this option, try Method 2. Method 2: Using the Settings app from Safe Mode1.      Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you select Power > Restart.2.      After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.3.      After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode.4.      Open the Settings app.5.      Select Update & security and then the Recovery tab.Under ?Go back to an earlier build?, click the Get started button and follow the ins... After many months biding my time I have just embarked upon upgrading my Portege Z930-11G to Windows 8 Pro.

Largely this has gone to plan with the exception that after running the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant I've lost the Fn key display and about half the keys no longer seem to function at all.

The only key I ever used routinely is the Fn+F8 option to turn WiFi on/off.

So now I cannot enable the WiFi on the machine.

There must, surely, be a mean to do this but I can't find it. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm OK for now as I have a wired LAN in the house but once I get out on the road I'm going to struggle without WiFi.

Before running the upgrade assistant the Fn key brought the key display up across the top of the screen and I surely wish I'd turned WiFi on at that point.

The Fn key utility offers very little control of the Fn keys. It does not offer the ability to do anything other than disable five on screen notifications for keyboard backlight, power plan, touch pad, cursor overlay and numeric overlay.

All help gratefully received.

Andrew

A:Portege Z930: Loss of Fn keys after Win 8 upgrade - cannot turn WiFi on/off

> So now I cannot enable the WiFi on the machine.
First of all you can enable and disable the WiFi using function key but you can also enable the WLan in Windows 8 settings
Win key + C -> Settings -> Change PC settings -> Wireless

Now you can use the wireless devices slider to enable or disable the WLan.

But to get the FN key working you have to install the +Toshiba Function Key Utility+ for Win 8 and +Toshiba System Driver+ for Win 8

Does the wifi adapter show up in Device Manager and show working? You have a physical switch to turn it on/off? Could be the switch.

Try uninstalling then re-installing the adapter.

I recently downgraded from windows 8 to windows 7 64 bit. I have managed to install most of the drivers but the wifi won't turn on. When i troubleshoot it says WIFI hasn't been turned on. The wifi button on the keyboard shows a solid white light and it won't turn on or off when i press it, it seems it is stuck. Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller is not yet installed and it shows up with yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. I have tried sp66089.exe sp64950.exe from HP website. I hvae attached a picture of the device manager screen.

Since I installed Windows 10 a few days ago, I haven't used my wifi, but now I find I can't turn it on. At the time of installation the f12 (wifi) key on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook was in the off position. Now it won't respond, and I can't turn wifi on any other way. The greyed-out box in the lower right hand corner won't respond (though the airplane mode will). When I'm in Settings: Network & Internet, the slider keeps going back to off. Can't turn it on under Network and Internet: Network Connections, and have already tried disabling and enabling the Wireless Network Connection. Under Manage Wi-Fi settings is some stuff about Wi-Fi Sense, which I'm not interested in -- hope this is not a ploy to make me use it!
Any ideas, aside from resetting the computer? Thanks!!!

A:Now that I've installed Windows 10, why can't I turn on my wifi?

I have the same problem. I assumed either my wifi had gone out(coincidence) or Windows 10 drivers... its also a HP Pavilion DV6 with amd chipset with Realtek wifi adapter. I have tried rolling back, updating drivers, uninstalling adapter reinstalling adapter...to no avail.

Hi, so I am running windows 7 x64 on a Y700 ideapad. I can't figure out how to turn off my wifi antenna. Looking at the keyboard I see the plane icon which normally means airplane mode. I want my wifi radio off and just use my lan line wire connection.  Regardless if I press FN+airplane, in the the black window that pops up it says "first switch on the wireless device" which makes no sense. My wifi radio is on currently all drivers are upto date.

A:Y700 - Turn off Wifi from Keyboard - Windows 7

I do not know why the airplane mode is saying to "first turn on the wireless device", but you can enable/disable the WiFi adapater by following the steps outlined in the link below.   Normally the Airplane mode is the on/off for the WiFi radio,m but it does not disable the card itself, while the steps linked below will. How to turn wireless connectivity on or off in Windows 7http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/network-wifi/how-to-turn-wireless-connectivity-on-or-off-in-window...  Good Luck,

There is more than one way to do this but all require that you are using a certified Windows 7 driver which installs the Msoft Virtual WiFi adaptor which is used to set up the hosted wireless network.

The real problem with this is that if you already have a wireless connection then why would you need to create an Ad Hoc network in the first place?

I guess if you were somehow limited to a single connection it might come in handy, or if you needed to amplify the signal. You can't share through an Ethernet connection, it only works wireless to wireless.

You can set this up using the command prompt or you can install the connectify software which makes it easier for some. The links below explains the details about setting this up, take your pick, the last one is a download for a virtual router if that's what you wanted.

Ad-Hoc requires that you restart the session each time.

Connectify pro has an auto start option that does this but it's a paid version, connectify lite is free but I'm not sure if has auto start.

Hi all Following a recent hard drive failure, I did a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise (the ideapad originally came with a Windows 7 OEM licence). The wifi device, 'Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter' is present in the device manager and is reported as working. In the 'Network & Internet' settings dialog, if I turn wifi on, it is immediately turned off again. fn-F5 does nothing (the Lenovo Wireless Settings dialog is not displayed).  Perhaps I need to (re-)install this somehow? The WLAN Auto Config service is running (automatic). Cisco AnyConnect is not installed; I am actually trying to install it over wifi by connecting to my company's VPN server (which is not accessible using a wired connection) so that I can Activate Windows 10. Any ideas on how I can turn wifi on? TIA :-)

A:Z380 Ideapad: Unable to turn wifi on after Windows...

fn-F6 has stopped working now too :-( so I cannot turn off the touchpad which is pretty annoying when your job requires a lot of typing. I have no idea why. I tried uninstalling the wifi adapter driver and installing the one from Lenovo's website, but I still cannot turn wifi on and fn-F5 still does not bring up the Wifi Settings dialog. Perhaps my laptop model just isn't supported under Windows 10?

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 last night on my laptop. The laptop is a Lenovo Z570 with an i7 processor.

My basic problem is that I do not have the capability to turn on my wifi and search for networks now. The hardware switch does nothing. I went into device manager and the network adapter is recognized and shows as working and enabled. The networking adapter I have for wireless is the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1000. In the system tray, I only show the red "x" over the wired networking icon, no wireless options.

If I dig deep into the device manager, open the network adapter, go into events and click "view all events", there are several instances of the same error. They all list the same except for the driver name:

In case you haven't tried this... go into Device Manager, right-click to get Properties, and see if there is a tab for Power management and an option to Allow windows to turn off this device to save power (can't remember exactly how it's worded). If there is such an option, make sure it's un-checked.

Then (after saving any open documents/files and closing software) do a full shutdown with this command:

Code:
shutdown /s /t 0
Then see what happens when you switch on again...

Hi All, completed free upgrade from WIndows 7 Home to Windows 10. Did it via Ethernet NIC - all completed successfully - licence activated. After that I did clean install and again all seems to be fine - except when I tried to use WiFi. There is a red cross on it and it cant detect any networks. Can't be turned on - doesnt react. Only thing it does is switching Airplane mode on or off by pressing hardware or software button. Obviously driver problem. In device manager WiFi  shows as Aetheros AR9285 and there is no warning - functioning normaly. I tried to check no HP site for the product but indeed there is just Windows 7 driver which cant be installed as Windows 10 says its not for this version of OS. So I tried to download the one from Aetheros directly https://www.atheros-drivers.com/atheros-wireless-drivers.html. Downloaded AR9285 for Windows 10 (no exe just inf files etc..) and installed it via "update driver". Completed successfully, reboot done but still the same - no WiFi - unable to turn it on in Windows.  Anyone have this notebook and know which driver to use?

Hello to the people who will probably help me on this from here onwards !!! So, I recently upgraded from windows 7 to 10 like a lot others. All excited to start, in no time I realised the wifi won't start. Boom! Now, I am stuck hanging onto a lan wire and can't move away. I am on hp pavillion dv6-7011tx with broadcom 4313gn 802.11b/g/n 1x1 wifi adapter. Driver Version : 5.100.82.139My computer says my driver is up to date (or in my version the computer says : "you are screwed my friend!!!").  I am not able to find out anything on broadcom / hp / microsoft websites. Recently read this on hp website : This laptop was not tested for windows 10 upgrade. I would really appreciate, if someone can help me on this.  Thanks in anticipation

I have upgraded my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E545 to Windows 10 recently and since then I have been having increasing problems to connect to WiFi. It is not a problem with the WiFi itself, since I can connect with my phone and tablet without any problems and my husband has not had any problems with his laptop either. It started with just having to try to connect a couple of times (clicking disconnect and then connect again) in the beginning. Then it took restarting the computer. And now I can't connect anymore no matter how often I try or whatever I try. Initially I got an error message regarding the IP address when using the troubleshoot, but now it just can't find the problem. I have read that it could be a problem with the WiFi driver, which may need an update for Windows 10. The driver listed is Realtek RTL8188E LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. I have not been able to find this driver or any update for it on the Realtek website. I have not been able to find anything on the Lenovo or Windows website, or anywhere else for that matter, either. I have read posts by other users who are having similar issues, but I haven't been able to find a solution. Please let me know how I can solve this problem. Thank you.

A:WiFi connection problems after upgrade to Windows ...

Dear KVW,

Welcome in lenovo community,
Lenovo did not release all windows 10 drivers for the E545 laptop yet,
So you may go back to the previous windows and wait till lenovo release all the drivers.
Also you can use the below link to follow the drivers update,

I seem to be going round in circles trying to reconnect a working Windows 8 laptop to the WiFi after upgrading to 8.1

It refused to recognise the existing and working WiFi upon reboot after upgrade.

I have twice ran the 'netsh wlan delete profile name=[profile name]' command to remove the profile, rebooted the machine, re-added the profile, nothing happens.

The network symbol in the system tray when clicked doesn't show the profile I created, so I can't select it to connect to (though I set it to auto connect?), it just shows 'Hidden Network' , but when clicking this and I enter the SSID and WPA2 key, it just errors with a failed to connect message.

This was working fine, that's how I downloaded the update, now it's broken!

Any ideas?

Apologies if this has been addressed already but I haven't been able to find a post with this particular issue.

Here's the background information:
I have a Dell Vostro 3750 notebook which I upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 using a Windows 10 "1511" build DVD. The upgrade was successful and I only had to reinstall one application. Since I have a network-attached disk, I use an Asus USB AC56 adapter connected to one of my USB3 ports for my WiFi instead of the built-in WiFi. This notebook is also used by other members of my family so I have a local administrator account and local standard user accounts for daily use. The WiFi is connecting to a Netgear R7000 router on the 5 GHz band (802.11ac).

Now the issue:
What often happens when the machine is booted, rebooted, or wakes from sleep is that the WiFi is enabled but the network shows "No Internet". All I have to do to get the Internet back is to unplug the WiFi adapter from the USB3 port and plug it back in, or go into the WiFi app to disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi network.

I have tried the following:
1) installed the latest USB AC56 drivers from the Asus website
2) edited the WiFi adapter properties to prevent Windows from turning off the device to conserve power.
3) tried using a different USB3 port (I believe the 2 USB3 ports are connected to different controllers).

There is no VPN software installed, but I do have VMWare Player 12.1 installed.

This isn't a huge issue since it is easy ... Read more

Hi
My M17 is constantly dropping out since upgrading to windows 10,i have since rolled back to 7 and it works fine. However i prefer 10 so i keep going back,it starts off every now and then and gradually gets worse untill as of now it wont work at all.
Its fine when i plug an ethernet cable in.
Is there anything i can do as i dont really want to go back to 7 as i used to have BSOS problems which i have never had with 10

thanks

A:alienware wifi keeps dropping since windows 10 upgrade

Not sure what model you have but older windows 7 laptops might not have windows 10 drivers available and are stuck using the generic drivers. It would be better to rollback to 7 until you can upgrade to a new computer. Check Dell drivers and downloads to see your model is supported with win 10 drivers. If not, rollback to 7.

I have a few of this model in our comapny and we have upgraded a few of them to Windows 10. All the ones that were upgraded can no longer get wifi. They all worked perfectly in Windows 7 but as soon as 10 is installed they stop working. The confusing part is the wireless driver is there and says it is working properly. I have tried every network driver from HP's site and none of them make it work. I tried a BIOS Update and that didn't fix anything either. There wireless button that is usually next to airplane mode isn't even there.  Hitting the wi-fi button on the keyboard only turns off bluetooth and nothing else. I went into services, and the WLAN Autoconfig servies wasn't turned on and was set to manual. Turning it back on and setting it to automatic. That made the wifi button next to airplane mode show up finally, but its greyed out and you can't do anything with it. In the Network Connections panel the Wi-Fi shows up as a connection, but says not connected but shows green like it is ready to connect using the Broadcom 43224AGN 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 Wi-fi Adapter. Since this has happened to every model I figured it must be known issue somewhere but can't find a six still.  Please help!

Good Morning,
and thank you in advance for your help.

I currently have Windows Vista and, for quite some time it has been impossible for me to access the internet at free WIFI cafes, etc. I connect via cable now and that connection works quite well. I've had the problem looked at by computer techs who have made various suggestions, none of which worked, but involved deleting this or that file (sorry I can't be more specific). The last suggestion was to completely reinstall Vista.
I am contemplating upgrading to Windows 7 and wonder if a) my problem with lack of WIFI connectivity will interfere with the upgrade, and b) if the upgrade will actually solve the WIFI problem by virtue of it being a completely new OS.

Thank you again.

I upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.

HP is now help as they clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. (Guys, never buy HP again please...). And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.

The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything. They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...

So can anyone either provide a solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?

A:Dreaded Win10 WiFi Issue: Can't enable WiFi after Upgrade

I had a similar issue were I was stuck in Aeroplane mode on a cleanly installed W10. Turned out I had to uninstall it from the HID's in Device manager. It's worth checking that he's not stuck in it too. Search for drivers in Windows 7, from the HP website and you'll most likely resolve the issue.

Hi: You should be able to...Just make sure you connect by ethernet cable so W10 is activated before the deadline. Then I recommend you get the Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 wlan card...HP Part number 636672-001, listed in chapter 3, page 25 of the service manual.  That is the only card that I see on the list that should work on W10. NOTE:  You MUST get that specific card, and it MUST have the HP part number on it or it will not work. I usually go on eBay, query by the HP part number and buy a card that shows the part number in the eBay listing photograph.  But an easier thing to do would be to make the W10 installation DVD by using the media creation tool at the link below, run the upgrade from the windows desktop, select do not check for updates and W10 will bypass any hardware checks and install with the atheros card in place. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 I doubt the atheros card will work after W10 is installed, but you shouldn't have to remove it just to install W10. There is a W10 driver for that card but I think the hardware version of the card your notebook has is too old to work with the driver. This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000-Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported models and operating systems.  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71858.exe OPERATING SYSTEM(S):Microsoft Windows 10 32Microso... I have 3 Probook 4530s Laptops. They have i5 CPUs USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports along with bluetooth 3.0 and HD display. The WiFi adapter speed  is 150mb on 2.4 gz band. At this time they all have 4g RAM and 1Tb hhd installed. I like the units as all of them were built in May and June, 2012. What I need to do is increase the internet connection speed plus add the 5.8 band to the 2.4 band. I would not like to have anything sticking out of the side of the computer that needed to be removed that might get lost. Can I replace the internal WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 adapter to pickup the speed and both bands? If so, can anyone tell me what adapter I need to me looking for and what driver. I do not want to loose the bluetooth in all of this as I know the kids will want to use it.This whole building project I guess is my way of telling them that I'm with them if they need any help. Our time means more to them then money these days. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully.

My computer is a dell inspiron 14z.

So my wifi was working ok before I upgraded to Windows 8 but afterwards seemed to not even realize it had wifi capabilities. I looked at the Wireless network adapter thing in the device manager and it had a little error icon next to it.

Here's some pictures of the error and device manager that might help maybe.

I've tried updating the driver but it just says that its all good and up to date.

Dell wanted me to pay 120$ for a single customer service session.

I'd be so happy if you guys could fix this.

you guys are awesome thanks

120$? to fix a driver issue? That is extortion in my eyes lol.

Anyway I had a quick look on the dell support site and found there are 3 different models for Dell Inspiron 14z Could you tell me which one it is? Also try navigating to the driver downloads page and downloading the wireless network drivers for your model and installing them. Pic Attached

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/uk/en/ukbsdt1/Product/inspiron-14z

Had a look at the drivers on each of the models and they only seem to support 64bit Versions of Windows 7 & 8, Do you know if you have 32bit or 64bit edition of windows 8? If you have 32bit then the drivers for the hardware probably wont work.

If you don't you can check it by following this easy guide (I would walk you through it but I havent used windows 8 yet) http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/windows-8-64-bit-32-bit.htm

Ok, I realize that Windows 10 is not supported on this laptop at the moment.  The question I have is WILL it eventually be supported?  Will there be new drivers for the intermittent wifi issue?   As of now, I'm using the last driver that Lenovo published for the Broadcom 802.11n.  It's version 6.30.223.256 I recall there was a similar issue when Windows went from 8 to 8.1 and then it was resolved.   Any help with keeping my wifi consistently connected would be greatly appreciated.  Are there any 3rd party drivers that might work? The rest of Windows 10 seems to be working well and I'd hate to roll back to 8.1 only to lose the new system if new drivers/solutions are going to be offered.

I hvae a Sony VAIO VPCL114FD All-In-One computer that I just upgraded to Windows 10 from Win 7. It has an Atheros AR928x WiFi card, with driver 10.0.0.329 installed. It worked fine with 7, but since I upgraded the OS, I'm now getting "Connected, No Internet". I've narrowed down the issue, but cant seem to get it resolved. I'm running a Linksys EA4500 dual band router, with the channel width set to AUTO. When I go into the router setup page, and switch it from AUTO to 20 MHz, it resolves the problem. But, I don't want to run my network at 20 MHz, so I obviously want to get the card to recognize higher channel widths. When I go into the adapter properties, there is nothing available to do this (that I can find). I'm pretty sure I have the most recent drivers, so is it possible this card won't work with anything higher than 20 MHz with Win 10?

After updating to windows 10 I had a few minor problems with the start menu and ran a fix tool to get this working. This tool seems to have broken the sound and wifi (it now won't turn on and cannot detect any sound devices). I tried to do a restore but I misread and seemed to select an option which deleted all the installed software and this has now removed all the initial software from Toshiba.

As such I have a fairly major problem... I could just restore my factory setting but I am not keen to do so and I have been very lax with backups of all but the most important files. Is there anywhere to download the original toshiba software so I can restore all this functionality?

Maybe try this:
Click start and type "ncpa.cpl" and hit enter (or you can go to My Documents and type in the address bar "ncpa.cpl" and hit enter) then right click on Wi-Fi or your internet and click enable. Do not know if this will work but you can give it a try.

I have U135DX, I believe, it's the model number. It's MSI, running windows 7 starter. These are the information. I hope that will help.

A:How do I turn on WIFI without the keyboard.

Some wireless adapters allow you to enable/disable radio in their advanced settings but I am not sure if this would work for a wireless adapter disabled via the keyboard.

You could disable the wireless adapter you have and purchase a USB wireless adapter like this.

I live in student accommodation and the wired internet is free but you have to upgrade £30 per device (so laptop, mobile, ipad) per year for wifi.

I was wondering whether it is possible at all to purchase any hardware/software that would allow me to convert the wired connection to wifi? Bearing in mind I only have access to the jack on the wall. I'm not sure if it is even possible but it's just annoying that I have to pay per device.

A:Turn cable into wifi?

Ask the IT department what is allowed and what they suggest.

Until we know that information we will not and cannot help.

I've got a Lenovo ideapad Z470 laptop and the WiFi modem/card in it won't turn on.

The laptop has a physical switch on the front which turns on/off the wifi.

If I turn the switch to on, an image appears on the screen saying its been turned on and vice versa if I switch it off.

However, Windows isn't showing it as being available in the system tray.

I can connect via ethernet and have tried using the Wifi to connect to two different networks and it looks like the card is the problem.

If you look at my previous posts, they have been about my laptop not connecting to the internet. Perhaps this is why?

Can they be fixed or replaced?

Thanks.

What's listed in that heading?

Are there any entries in the Device Manager with a yellow ? or ! next to them?

I've already consulted Samsung about this issue, and they want me to Refresh (windows 8) my laptop. I have important programs and I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT.

Started about half an hour ago, I plugged my laptop into the wired connection because it was downloading 6 GB. Plugging in a cord activates Airplane mode. In theory, once out of Airplane Mode, WiFi will turn back on. NORMALLY IT DOES, BUT NOW IT DOESN'T. THIS IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF.

PLEASE HELP ME. IT'S A BRAND NEW LAPTOP, NOT TO MENTION MY SECOND ONE OF IT.

A:WiFi turned off and won't turn back on.

Is this a second computer with the same issue?

I would suggest contacting Microsoft as it seems to be a software issue and not hardware. Especially if you can turn on the wireless manually.

My Laptop's been fine for 2 years...when I'm on battery, I switch the wifi off via the switch on the laptop. However, all of a sudden, the Wifi won't turn on again! The switch isn't broken (I've moved it back and forth), and I've tried the software switch ( Fn+F5), but that doesn't work either! I dual boot Windows 8+7, and neither OS has wifi on. I've also tried uninstalling drivers/disabling the adapter via Device Manager, but no luck! I also went into the BIOS, disabled the adapter through there, launched Windows 8, then rebooted and reenabed the Wifi, and that didn't work either =(.EDIT: Windows troubleshooting says "Turn on wireless capability: Use the switch on the front or side of the comptuer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer".My warranty ended over a year ago!Paying to send in the laptop for this would suck. Help!

Hi

i have a sony vaio computer.yesterday just opened my laptop cleaned fan.then closed clearly.after i can't connect internet via WiFI but i can connect via cable.

my question is when i try to connect via WIFI it's say it's turn off.. how to turn on now?

A:how to turn on Wifi in sony Vaio

Do you have a physical button or switch on your laptop which you can push? Almost all laptops have this feature so that you can turn the wireless off.

If not then you should be able to force it by going to Start> Control panel

Once opened click on 'Network and Internet'

Afterwards, click on 'Networking and Sharing Center'

From here you want to click on 'Change Adapter Settings'

Now, right click on the wireless adapter listed and click on 'Enable'. This should enable your wi-fi card

Hope This Helps,
Josh!

My wife has a toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040 running Windows 7 64 bit. This morning she ran an update and has since lost wifi and Fn F8 does not work. Went to Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the TVAP. It got rid of the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter and we still can't get the wifi to enable. Unfortunately she does not remember which update it was that she performed. Help.

Update: My wife remembered that the only change she made was to install Secunia PSI from this sites download section.

I recently turned off my wifi connection just to do an install. I simply pressed func+F12 and i shut it off until my installation was complete. Now when i hit F12 again to turn it back on the little light on the key turns back on indicating that my wifi connection is back on but when i try to connect in my network connections menu it says wifi is off. I have a Samsung chronos series 7 with windows 8 as my OS. I tried everything as far as trouble shooting goes and I also did a system restore hoping it would reset my network card but I still get know results. Does anybody have any idea what might be going wrong? I really need to get my internet working again. Oh yeah i tried the Ethernet connection and that works but i need my laptop for class and other events where I'm mobile , plus i got an assignment due this morning and this is really putting a monkey wrench in my plans. So somebody please help.

Thank You

P.S.
Maybe I didn't set my restore point far back enough and also the one suggestion I didn't try was refreshing my computer but i didn't want to have to reinstall every freakin application I have loaded on my laptop.

Have you checked to set what wireless adapter is set as default since you've turned wifi off? Since you turned it off, the default setting may have changed which could explain your not being able to connect to your wifi.

I've got wireless internet which I access on two laptops and an ipod touch.

Recently, on the ipod touch I have been able to browse for a while then the internet stops loading pages. It shows I am still connected but I have to turn off the WIFI and then turn it back on again and reconnect and everything is ok for a while.

Now it is starting to happen on one of the Windows XP Home laptops.

I browse for a while, then pages stop loading. I am still connected. If I turn the WIFI adapter on the laptop off then on again and reconnect I can surf for a while.

During the period I cannot surf on the laptop I can on the ipod so there is a live connection beyond the router.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I have Win 7 Home Premium.

Is there an easy way to disable my wireless connection so that (a) it does not enable itself after a reboot, and (b) I don't need to implement the complete process to re-enable the wireless?

Under normal circumstances, the re-enable after a reboot is fine. I can disconnect WiFi from the system tray, and it reconnects after reboot.

But sometimes, I might want wireless to remain disabled after reboot. For example, if I'm doing a database restore, and the database starts synching after a reboot (such as Evernote), it could cause problems :-)

At the moment, I simply switch off the router until the database restore is complete.
.

A:How to turn off WiFi so that it does not re-enable after reboot?

Just don`t let it connect.

Doesn`t the laptop have an on off switch for wireless ? Most laptops do.

A:can i run wifi without turn on my pc in tp link 300mbps router

but there is a littile confusion is can i run wifi without turn on my pcClick to expand...

can you explain what specifically you wanted to do

The router will broadcast a wireless signal - enabling any device to pick up and use the router to access the internet, providing the router is connected to an internet service.

Nothing to do with your PC
The PC is just another device that can connect to the wireless broadcast by the router
But the PC will need to be switched on to do that
Other devices can continue to use the router , even with your PC off

Hi: Please post the hardware ID for the wireless card, so I can figure out what driver you need for it. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and there should be a device listed as a Network Controller found under an Other Devices category. Click on the Network Controller device, and then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set on Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

My adapter is always gone from resuming from sleep. I know it was working before. Just changed my ram and bios settings from a fresh build. Went from Corsair xms3 to G.Skill Ripjaws.

I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy.

I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.

Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have case fans that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1.

Is this just not a working feature? I've read that sleep is an ongoing issue with Windows, ... Read more

Hi EDYYOO,
What is the current OS installed on the system? Does the ethernet work fine? Is the wireless card detected under network adapters in device manager? Did the issue start after any recent windows updates?
If the system was working fine earlier, then perform a system restore to restore the machine to an earlier point where it was working fine - http://dell.to/1Sg6khF
Update the BIOS if possible - http://dell.to/2fIMORn - restart the system and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f2 on startup to enter BIOS - check if Wireless swtich and wireless devices are enabled in BIOS.
Restart and check in safe mode with networking.
Enable the built in admin account and check - http://bit.ly/1Bgok2R
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.
