Q: Help! All high-end games are not working! (moved from Games forum)

I have
AMD ATHLON 64 4000+
ATI Sapphire Radeon X800 XL Hybrid (512 mb)
1 gb kingston ddr 400 ram
160 gb SATA Harddrive (Western Digital)
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe Motherboard
560 Watt Power supply
Windows XP Professional 64 bit-edition
7 different high power fans that keeps the computer cool

When I play doom 3, Half-life 2, F.E.A.R. or any other game utilising directx 9.0b and higher, the game crashes when I put all the settings to high. The weird thing is that it used to work just fine. Now, when games crash, it usually shows the whole entire screen, filling up with flickering blue squares. The sound keeps going on for about 10 more seconds, and then the sound freezes up too. When I press any button after this happens, The monitor flickers and then shows a screen that is bizarrely coloured. I am using Windows XP Professional 64 bit-edition

Ok maybe this is a stupid question, I am not too bright when it comes to computers. But, i installed wintop. When I run it, the 1st entry is 'idle' and beside it something like 97%. What does that mean? just curious...thanks!

A:{Moved to Apps and Games Forum} wintop

That just means that 97%of your computer's available processing time is spent idle or not doing anything.

Im not sure how to explain this but here it goes:

The game im playing is World of Warcraft. About every 4-5 minutes it minimizes. When i Alt+Tab back, it gives me the option(When you hold it down) from WoW, or Internet Exporer.

I have ran Spybot: Search and destroy, AdAware SE Personal, and Norton Anti-Virus 2004.

I caught a few problems with these programs and cleaned them up, however my problem persists.

Any help and/or sugestions of what to do would greatly be appreciated.

Ok I have been basically letting problems build up on my computer for awhile now without diagnosing anything because of how difficult the repair process seemed to be. So you can imagine the multitude of viruses, adware, and trojans that have built up.

Recently I tried playing Bioshock and the game crashed during the first loading screen after I invested 15 minutes into beating the first level without saving... Tried again and I crashed at the same spot. So I tried Left 4 Dead 2 and I crashed trying to connect to a game. Tried Fallout 3 and crashed shortly after the character creation menu... BTW, java games like plants vs zombies and Creeper World are working fine, its just those 60 dollar real games that won't work.

So I finally give in and go all out to fix all of my problems. I bought Spydoctor, ran it and cleaned out my hard drive, in fact I am running the file scanner right again with updated definitions, but its been an hour and its at 8%.... I updated my motherboards bios which finally allowed me to run chkdsk and defragment. Full scans of both completed, and now aside from the file scanner and a possibly slightly out of date windows update I've run all the diagnostics I can think of.

Everything else is working fine, but my games still aren't working last I checked. I am working on those last two diagnostics I mentioned, but what else can I do.

A:Cant play games [moved from Gaming forum, see post#14]

Before anyone says anything

1) Yes my system is up to spec, its an old game and a computer capable of running new games im pretty sure.

2) Restarted almost a dozen times now for all the updates and diagnostics i've done so far.

3) No mods

4) I made a point of closing everything before each play test.

5) Direct X is up to date, DX11

6) Updated sound and video drivers about a month, maybe 2 months ago at most.

7) Fallout 3 is currently my main test game and I installed the patch for v1.7 and the stupid Microsoft Games for Windows program that the patch requires...

8) The fact that I get into the game and I have the same problem with other games should rule cd scratches out.

9) The first time I encountered the problem, it was with no patches on Fallout3 and I encountered the problem while the install was still fresh, meaning I didn't screw anything up since I installed the game. I already reinstalled it and immediately installed the patch and encountered the same problem.

BTW yes this is still a problem for all games, Fallout 3 is just the game I run into the problem the quickest on so I am using it as a test subject.

Recently I've noticed Chrome getting sluggish and realised that the System process was using up an unusual amount of CPU power. I took a look at it with Process Explorer and found that the culprit thread was ntoskrnl.exe!iodeletedriver. Tried doing some further probing with xperf, but symbols aren't loading properly for some reason (might shed some more light-will post back once I get this to work). I began to notice the high usage occurring when chrome was rendering pages and videos, so my first guess was the graphics driver. My laptop also has an nVidia GPU, so I tried running chrome using the GPU for rendering. Hey presto, usage went down instantly. All drivers are up to date. Anyone familiar with this thread or got any ideas for some more debugging I can try to further identify the issue? In my google searching I've come across people having similar issues with the system process, hd graphics in particular, but could not find anything about this thread. I'm going to post about it on the Intel forums soon too, just wondering if anyone here has any ideas. Cheers.

Hi all,

This is my first computer build. For the most part it is playing games fine, but three times now in the last several weeks I have gotten BSODs, in Crysis 3, Battlefield 4. I didn't have the presence of mind to write down the error code.

I have attached the /zip file generated by SF.

Any ideas? I got error codes when trying to debug myself with windbg.

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

I'm another one of those video gamers out there and every real game i play is crashing. The games include:
1. Simpsons Hit and Run - I just get windows send report message.
2. Halo: Combat Evolved - Minimizes and says "Gathering Exception Data," then the send report message. I looked at all help for this, still unanswered
3. Battlefield 1942 - Just quits to desktop
4. Battlefield Vietnam - Also quits to desktop
These are the only games i have really played. They all crash. I don't think theres anything wrong with my RAM. I sometimes run a RAM freer, and when it quits there is like 200 RAM left. (Don't worry, i'm positive this is a good ram freer because i've tried with others too). The games just seem to quit randomly even when i have restarted my comp afresh. It has nothing to do with internet, because it quits offline too (simpsons is an offline game).
Here is my system info:
Windows XP
CPU - AMD ATHLON XP-A 1833 MHz (5.5 x 333) 2500+
Motherboard - Asus A7V8X
Memory - 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
Video Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (128 MB)

All the minimum requirements check out.

If i have left out anything, please tell me. I have been having this problem for months!! Please help!

Thanks for your time ahead of time!

I play an online game named Silkroad Online. I've been playing it for around a year now but recently (well, it's been for around 2 months now) it's making my comp reboot every single time I play, I can't even walk in town and stall or even go out of town to grind w/o reboot..

I have a PentiumD 3.4GHz, 1GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6200, over 250GB of free space in HD... all my drivers are updated.
I tried unchecking "Reboot on System Failure", it does not reboot, but I get the BSOD:

Hey All, i'm new here this is my first post but it looked like a fairly knowldegeable place so i'm happy to give it a try, hope someone here can help

First, a bit of background info..
Since i got my hands on the RC i've loved it. I'm running the 64bit version on this spec (I Don't think it'll be important, but still worth saying)

AMD Athlon 64 3200 OC'd to 2.5Ghz
1.5 GB DDR-400 Ram
GeForce 6800GT
IDE HDD's and so on.

I've already seen a post without a solution to this...

The Problem
Anyone who plays Countestrike source on Windows 7 will probably have seen this.
If the FPS Is set to 30 or lower = Normal Ping of around 24 - 30ms on UK Servers.
If The FPS Is set to 101 or higher = High ping of around 56 - 80ms on UK Servers.

This is annoying. 100FPS Is the optimal, i cap it there on purpose because i don't need anyone, i can get full smooth game play using it, however with that ping i can't.

I've tried disabling the Firewall, homegroup shares etc.
I Tried using the command:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
No Luck.

Anyone with an idea at all i will buy a cookie if i ever meet them!

A:High FPS = High Ping in games (solution anyone?)

You could try Faster Ping. It may help lower your ping.

Free Download - Faster Ping 0.1beta - Simulation -

Unzip and dont't bother with the setup. Go in the fasterPing_0_1_1_11 folder, run FasterPing.exe as Administrator. Just click Apply. Reboot. Done

I think that has more to do with your Browser's java settings, then any screen drivers.

Hello Yaffa and welcome to BC

Given that what you have posted here isn't a game to play but is rather a question if given game sites are infected, I am moving this topic out of Forum Games into the Am I Infected forum. I am moving it there because if those sites are infected and you have been going to those sites, then chances are your computer is infected.

Please tell us what your operating system is: Windows XP, Vista, etc.

What security programs do you have installed?

By chance, are you experiencing any issues with your computer: Pop-ups, redirections, etc. Please be as specific as possible.

Bought a game the other day (AoEIII)...

Came home and installed it...

Tried to run it.. and NOTHING.. The hour glass comes on for a second, but then nothing. It doesnt even attempt to launch it..

So I call up Microsoft... And even though I could barely understand them (they route all their calls to India and their technicians barely speak English and the connection is always horrible) they walked me through COUNTLESS steps to take... Which I will list in a second.

Well after trying EVERYTHING they suggested and then some over several calls this past week (including taking the game back to get a new one just in case that there was a remote chance the CD itself was corrupt).. nothing.. problem actually got worse!

-Cleaned up the errors on my drives.
-downloaded and ran the microsoft anti spyware.
-****ed around with the startup items (removed them)
-created a whole new account on my PC with NOTHING but the game installed on it.
-uninstalled and reinstalled the game like 20 times.
-upgraded my RAM to 768mb(more than enough for my needs)
-upgraded my graphics card (nothing special, GeForceMX4000 128mb, but should be more than enough to run this game).
-downloaded some registry cleanup **** and ran it...

I am experiencing a problem which has stumped me greatly. Whenever I download a patch for a game (so far I've tried Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Battle for Middle-Earth) and begin to install it, I get an error message shortly after the patch begins. It seems as if all the files are corrupted or something. I can download everything else just fine, like video and music files, but not game patches. I've tried downloading the same patch from several different websites using both IE and Firefox, and had my friend send one to me over AIM, but none of them work. I was able to patch games just fine until a while ago, I think after I used System Restore to go back a few weeks to take care of another unrelated problem. And I know that it is something wrong with my computer specifically, as I patched Battlefield just fine on another computer in my house using the same Internet connection. The only other thing I can think of to try is burn the patch onto a CD and see if that works, but my other PC doesn't have a burner, so I'll have to wait to try that I guess. Anyone have any ideas? It's really bugging me.

Hi everyone,
I'm getting quite frustrated with my computer and I've been scouring the net for any info relating to my issue.
Every time I try to play a graphics intensive game my computer restarts. Sometimes right when the game menu boots and sometimes right when the game itself starts. It always happens at the exact same position in each game. This happens to any and all games I try aside from 'Majesty' which is by no means system intensive.

Now here's where the issue becomes really odd. At first glance it seems like simple overheating, however I've ruled that out since the games always crash at same position in every case. This all started after I moved my RAID drive plugs temporarily to try and install a new harddrive. Putting the plugs back into their slots didnt fix the problem.

I've now permanently moved the slots into their new positions and initially I thought it had to do with the harddrives themselves. But I also ruled that out since I can run the game over the network off of another computer and it will still crash.

I've done the following to try and fix it:
-Reinstalled windows
-Formatted the Raid drives
-Rebuilt the Raid Array
-Reinstalled the SATA RAID Drivers.
-Replaced the SATA Raid Drivers.
-Updated the BIOS

The problem started right after I moved the plugs from their initial SATA slots and then back again. I bet it's just some BIOS setting or something but I honestly can't figure out what it could be.

I installed FEAR on my PC (P4 2 GHz, 2GB DDR, GeForce 7600GS, DirectX 9.0c) and it wouldn't start. I also couldn't get the "game controllers" to open in Control Panel and dxdiag aborted on the DirectInput component of the analysis.

I found a device simply listed as "HID-compliant device" under the Human Interface Devices listing in Device Manager. If I disable or delete that all my issues go away. I can access game controllers, I can play FEAR. I had thought this was for an old MS joystick but I don't believe that is the case now. But I don't know what it is!

And every time I restart the computer this entry is back along with the same problems. I can't see that it is linked to any physical device but somehow it plugs-and-plays itself back into existence.

What is this thing? Is there a driver update anywhere that will remove this conflict for good? Or is there something else I can do????

A:Starting programs automatically? [Moved from Games]

Start Menu -> Run -> msconfig

You have to be really careful here. You don't want to cancel any startup programs that you would need. Just be aware. This permanantly stops programs from starting up when you start windows. If you still want some of these to start up, you'll still have to close them manually.

Additionally, if you don't already, run some spyware cleaning programs. They might be contributing.

If you have a cd-r or cd-rw you can copy playstation games however, you need a program to allow you to do this. I think you can search winoncd and find it. I don't know if its shareware or not someone gave me a copy on cd. Hope it helps and merry christmas.

Hey I don't know if this belongs in this specific thread since it is partially about my graphics card and partially about games. I will explain the situation.
I just got a new graphics card (Geforce 6800GT) and I am having problems in a few games with it. Games that are graphically intense such as Counter Strike Source or BattleField 2 are not showing textures and such. I will post some pictures of exactly what I am talking about. Right now my graphics card is updated and I am not sure what else I can do. I will also post some of my system info.

These are all some system stuff just ask if you need more.

Here are some images from BF2 and CS:S

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hello everyone,

So, my problem is that I get pings of around 400ms when trying to play games online. I don't have this problem on my Laptop but got a new PC a few days ago and I have had the problem since I got that.

Here are my speedtest results:

I tried with both my windows firewall on and off and that didn't solve the problem. Also, I am using windows 8. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

What games are you trying to play?

It might be that it's simply that your connecting to the wrong servers on your games (playing with people far away and such)

OK, i am an avid gamer and i just bought a Geforce 6800 GT (Leadtek Windfast 400). I overclocked it from 350/1000 to 400/1100. I get a max temp of 67 and smooth gameplay for Battlefield 2, Everquest 2, Half-Life and so on... No my question is this, are the white lines in the images i linked artifacts? I have always seen them in games over the years, even with my 9800 pro which was not overclocked, so i naturally thought these things were the game developers glitches. ARE THEY ARTIFACTS? AND ARE THEY BECAUSE I OVERCLOCKED MY CARD?

Thank you!

Hmm.. saw this thread and thought i could tell my issue which is technically the same.

I just recently reinstalled my PC (not a laptop) since i accidently broke my HDD. So i got a new HDD now, faster and better. Before i reinstalled my pc it worked great, almost perfect. But now i get very high CPU usage and games that didnt lag before lag now.

I have searched for viruses and malware/spyware lots of times with different programs without success (as in no viruses and malware found).

So im gonna ask here now, what can be causing this? I have very good fans, especially the cpu fan is a real good one so i dont think it overheats.

Would love to fix this prob since its starting to drive me mad!

This is the third thread you've started about this.....

And if it's only running on one core and is heavily CPU dependent game, then yes, some games will max out cores.

My friend has this really high profile computer, I'm talking 3.2 ghz, 1 gigabyte ram, nvidia geforce fx 5950 256 mb video card, sound blast audigy 2, 160 gig harddrive. What else can he ask for?

And recently he bought Far Cry, tried the new tomb raider game, and even tried another 3-d game called painkillers. All three of them run slower than usual on his superman computer. There has to be something wrong, but we have no idea what is wrong.

He tried that tomb raider game before a while back and it worked fine. But just recently it's been slow. I tried removing spyware but still no use.

Does anybody have any idea on what the cause of this slowdown is on this high end pc?

I've been reading a few articles of late about running games in high priorty can improve performance/smoothness of frame rate.

i tried it on a few of my games and it worked great but i have just one problem with it.

when i run a game with high priority my PC seems to have problems accessing the CD and/or DVD Drive. it almost feels like the system is not giving the cd-drive enough time to get all the information before the game kicks in with its high priority wanting cpu time. It can take almost 10-20 minutes depending on how much info is needed from the CD.

running the game normally is fine and also copying the cd to a cd image on the hard drive and running the game high priority from the cd image also works fine.

i just have no idea how to overcome this it sounds as if the game is not giving windows enough time to access the CD Drive.

Doe anyone know how i can change this? Maybe change the priority of a system service to give it same priority as the game?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!!

Hello and thanks for checking out my issue,

This has been a real pain to try and figure out over the past week. The hitching started when I decided to upgrade my computer. I previously used an AMD FX-6100 CPU and switched to an Intel i5-4690k. I also purchased a Crucial MX 100 SSD to use as a boot drive.
While I was installing Windows 7 I accidentally did not delete my old partition from the previous installation. Later on in the installation when I tried to change the date and time, the entire system froze for about 30 seconds (where the clock did not change at all and was 30 seconds behind when it stopped) I thought it was odd but kept going. After the installation I added the necessary drivers and a few games like Arma 3. Before the really bad hitching began the game froze once for a really long time and again the clock stopped and lost track of time. Some really bad hitching in *all* of my games began a short while later (maybe a day and a half) It was really odd so the next day I decided to take apart my computer and put it back together outside of the case as I had thought my case and large radiator was cutting off power to my CPU and possibly GPU.
After I restarted the computer outside of the case I had no hitching in my games anymore, so I thought great I fixed it! But the very next morning it was back and even worse. Steam seems to struggle to type messages, it lags when I scroll through my games list, and even some documents on Chrome do the same thing. I ra... Read more

Hello everyone.
I have been experiencing FPS drops, lags, freezes and random crashes in my PC while playing the new high end games such as Assassin's Creed Syndicate, FIFA 16, etc. even while running them on the "Lowest" graphics settings. So I searched on the net and found out that it has to do something with my hardware components. So I just wanted to ask what type of changes should I make in my PC for making these games run properly.
My specs:-
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Ram: 8192MB RAM
DirectX Version: 12
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

If any other information is required, then please tell me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My computer used to run great! Everything was fine and Core/GPU temps were low. About last week is when this started happening. Cores were at 38-45 idle, now there super high.

Gigabyte AM2+ Motherboard (Model #: GA-MA78GPM-DS2H)
AMD Phenom II X4 925
Sapphire ATI HD 5770
hec X-Power Pro 650W

Cores: 59 degrees (Current, Hardware Monitor+Firefox open)
GPU: 41 degrees

Can't diagnose a problem! Don't know how or were to find out whats going on. I'm leaning towards getting a new heatsync/fan to lower cpu temps and see if that works but I dont got the money atm. I lag in most games after a while of playing. The stutter gets worse and worse the longer I play.
If you need any other information, please ask. Thanks!

If your current cooling solution was working not that long ago, instead of replacing it I would try applying new thermal grease. Any chance it got knocked around or anything maybe that could of caused the cpu to not make good contact...a long shot but.

Techs: Please help! My CPU is spiking to 80%-100% during game play while I am playing Pogo Games on This problem has been happening for a long time so I started watching my Task Mgr to try to figure out what is causing this but I've had no luck so I need your help.

I have been playing pogo games for years, using either IE or FF. Yesterday I changed browsers to Google Chrome thinking there was a compatibility issue between IE/FF and Java but that wasn't the case b/c my CPU also spikes with Chrome but different programs cause the spike. Through my own research I have found the following programs to cause the spike: java, adobe flash, adobe reader, plugin container, alg and now it's chrome.exe. When alg.exe was cauing the high CP usuage I checked my computer and found alg.exe in C:\Win\$NTServicePackUninstall$, C:\Win/Sys32, C:\Win\ServicePackFiles\i386 and in c:\Win\Prefetch. I thought I might have a virus so I ran a full scan using SuperAntiSpyware which did not correct the problem so I then did a system restore back to Jan 11th. After that alg.exe still appears on my Task Mgr but no longer caused the extreme usage. Now the extreme usage is being caused by chrome.exe if I use Google Chrome and java.exe if I use Internet Explorer or Firefox. Note: The fans turn on high (and loud) for about a minute and the CPU spikes to 80%-100%, but only after playing for an hour or more. If I continue to play, this happens about every 30 minutes ... ensure you have all the latest device drivers and game patches. problems as you described are often caused by one or more parts of a computer overheating during demanding apps. do you have a way of monitoring your cpu, chipset, or gpu temps? download and run prime95. run a turture test using the "in place fft" options and reply if the box ran successfully for about half an hour.

So.. i've got an issue with my cpu (which i'm 100% sure it is around).

It seem to run with very high usage on games, programs, etc.. (approx 25-35% cpu usage).

My cpu is a i7 3.4ghz cpu (which shouldn't use that much at ALL).

It started ever since my first reinstall of windows. my cpu seems to go "berserk", and aswell my graphic card seems to be affected by it aswell. with very poor fps, frame lagg and whatever not (i'd guess it's the cpu fault, as i did change my graphic card)..

so far to resolve the issue, i've tryed to reinstall windows (to home premium, ultimate, xp, etc), bought new motherboard, harddisc, graphic card, ram.. basically everything been replaced once, beside the power supply, cd drive and cpu..

i tryed something called cpu-z.. heres the result:
of what i heard, it seems normal and nothing wrong with it.. which makes me even more confused..

the cpu is not overclocked (i wouldn't touch it, i'm simply an idiot to such things, so i'd break the cpu if i tryed :/)

so i'm here for general suggestions, overall ideas for it.. I can provide more info if needed.

A:Very High CPU usage on games - programs.

Hi Miyoki,

If you say that it is using 25-30% while you are playing games. I would say, it is normal. But, yes one thing you should be concerned is the temperature of the CPU and GPU. Does the PC shuts down randomly? If not, then its ok.

This is going to be a lengthy post, as I'm going to explain everything I possibly can in detail. I'll summarize it all in short sweet sentences at the end.

I apologize if anything is amiss; I checked the "how to ask for Help" thread and read it three times so any goofs are my own.

First the basic stats:

Hewlett-Packard Windows Vista Home Premium
HP Pavillion dv3 Notebook PC
System Type 32bit

I have a cooling mat.

Processor AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 2.10 GHz

Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB

This problem is complicated, and while I know computers quite a bit, I'm no expert.

I had F.E.A.R. and Sims 3 for quite a while and they always ran smoothly; never caused the CPU to overheat (I even use a laptop cooler). It started one day with Sims 3. I was playing it and suddenly the screen went blank but all the lights on my laptop stayed on. I tried a hard reboot and, and it started doing that but then the screen went blank and the lights turned off.

I kept trying to reboot; once or twice it even gave me told me that it (the computer) had an message while starting up and tried to locate and fix it but could not. I actually ended up waiting about 5 minutes, leaving it alone, and then tried rebooting and it finally did so successfully. (I'm 99% sure there were never any error codes during any of this.)

From then on, I could only play Sims 3 for an hour, literally. Not 30 minutes, not 90 minutes. Sixty minutes. As soon as an hour was up, the screen went dark and I h... Read more

Hi, I just went from using Windows XP Pro x64 to Windows 7 x64.

Any FPS game I played on XP I would get a constant ping of 10-25 in any Chicago based server. After going over to Windows 7, any Chicago server I join I get over 100 ping...and I don't know what is wrong. I've done the speed test, and I'll post three ping traces to three Chicago servers, I'm running off a cable modem, with no router, until as of today when I installed 7, I never had any ping issues before. It also seems like my ping issues only coincide with only games I play. My ping on Ventrilo, anything else are normal.

A:High Ping Issues in Games

take a look at your IP config, I had a little ping issues on a few games my self. I disabled IPv6 and it helped a little, maybe it was the IPv6 maybe I got lucky who knows. you will note that if you do an IP config you will see several tunnel adapters. also check your firewall, that is if you have one. I started using Kaspersky Internet Security and my pings went way high even with permissions granted. if I turn off the firewall the ping drops, Im guessing its because the FW isnt quite made for Win7 yet.

im not sure if any of that will help or if you have tried them. I hope it was a little help

This is my first post, and hopefully the problem can be solved. Usually I don't need to post on forums like these, but for this, I cannot solve the problem.

Okay, so when I play a high-end game (such as Crysis, Race Driver: Grid, Dead Space) I get good FPS of 40+ for the first 30 minutes or so, however the game then goes into a loop of lagging for a few seconds then resuming to the 40+ FPS for around a minute then starts lagging again for a few seconds and so on until I quit the game. Once I do quit the game, and re-open it, it works fine again for another 30 minutes and then does the same thing again.
Things I've already tried are:

1. Update official drivers from their official websites (nVidia, Intel, Samsung etc).
2. Closed down any consuming applications such as antivirus, msn, steam etc.
3. Placed more fans into my case to prevent overheating (but I don't think this is the issue as I can restart a game it works fine again for 30 minutes)

Can anyone give me any suggestions.

P.s. I am running windows 7 however the issue has occurred in Windows XP, Vista and 7. My specifications can be seen on my profile.

Thank you

I bought a Razer Lycosa a few days ago. Everything seemed normal, but then ping got really high during gameplay. It just says connection interrupted and ping goes 999 for 20 seconds or so. Then it calms down for about 10 minutes, but it goes insane again.
It sounded a bit stupid that my keyboard is causing these problems so I scaned my computer for viruses etc. but it remained the same. I realised that these connection problems started when I bought my new keyboard. After disconnecting it and connecting my old keyboard ping normalized again. I tried it a couple of times and I realised that Lycosa is the real cause of my problems.
I tried installing it again and installing some new drivers but it also didn't help.
Does anyone have the answer to this problem. Thanks for you help in advance.

I recently went from Windows XP to Windows 7 x64, and there wasn't any problems in the beginning, but since few days ago, if i'm in a game (any online game, I tested with a few), and I open a web browser (tested with IE, Firefox and Google Chrome), the games start lagging like crazy, for example, in World Of Warcraft, I have 60 MS, I open a browser, it goes up to 500 ms, and ONLY way to get rid of it, is to restart my modem, but I can't turn on a browser, if I turn it even once, to play normally again, I have to restart my modem. I tired searching for a solution, but it seems like no one had this problem.

And this is weird, because I used to be able to like, let 2 youtube videos load at once, and play a game without any problems, it wouldn't affect it at all.

The only thing I could think of that could cause problems, is that maybe I picked the wrong drivers for the modem, since it was installed for me back on XP, maybe Windows 7 needs a different version, I don't know.

My modem is Scientific Atlanta, EPC2100R2 Cable Modem.

I've noticed a high pitched whining noise that sounds like it is coming from the power supply/GPU, both being less than a month old. The weird thing is, it only makes the noise when I am playing a game, for instance if I tab out, the noise will stop and if I tab in it will start again. I've mainly noticed this on a game called League of Legends which doesn't have high requirements anyways. It's just annoying me and I'd like to know if there is a fix. I'll list some components below, ask if anymore are required.

GPU: MSI 280X 3GB Gaming Edition (Twin Frozr IV)
PSU: 800W Storm Silent
Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45 MATX
CPU: i7 3770 3.4Gh/z (oced to 3.9)
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu

A:High pitched noise only when playing games?

Welcome to SF. Could the noise be coming from the Twin Frozr?

Hi! I have been getting BSOD's when i play games.

I have tried a bunch of things some of them worked for a day and then i start getting BSOD's again. Its not creating .dmp files.

It only happens in more graphically demanding games such as League of Legends, Team Fortress 2 ( even though they are not that demanding). Thanks in advanced!

Edit: I got it to create a dump file, you can find it below.

So I am at a bit of a loss here. For the past week or so, I have been getting random spikes of high latency in online games like World of Warcraft/Star Wars: The Old Republic/League of Legends/etc and I have no idea what could be causing it. My ping used to run around 30-80 and lately is has been spiking from 100 to over 700 randomly. I have tried everything I could think of like not using my router, power cycling my modem several times, making sure my drivers are updated, no programs in the background causing it, no firewalls/anti-virus programs causing it, and several other little things like that. I have also called my ISP and they said everything seems to be working fine. And here's another weird thing, according to, my service is running as it should be: The server my service is connecting to is in the next town over which is ~15 minutes away so that couldn't be it either.

Here is my system specs:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 4
Processor Count: 8

Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

At my wits-end attempting to locate the issue I'm experiencing.

Problem: No graphics intensive game can be played on my computer ---- BUT everything else is perfect! It starts fast, excel, word, internet, multi-tasking & working, quick-books..........runs absolutely fine. With Windows 7 amazingly fine.

Story: Once a game starts (example: Arma2, The Ship, Star Wars the Force Unleashed) the screen freezes and the monitor, after a few moments, will switch to "No Signal" -- albeit the computer remains 'powered on'. I then hold the power button to shut her down.
Upon a restart the computer is perfectly fine without revealing any errors.
Here's my checklist of where I'm at (going on 2 or 3 months of attempting to solve this):

Power supply - tested on two identical 750W Dell PSUs, happens with both
(Dell XPS 750W Power Supply NG153 N750P-00)

Graphics card - tested on 8800GTX, & two 9800GTX+ - happens on all 3.

Graphics driver - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
Provider - Nvidia Driver Date - 5/14/09 Version -
with Windows XP I tested MANY different graphics no avail.
At the moment with the fresh install of Windows 7 I am using what was apparently automatically installed onto the fresh hard-drive.
Can't figure out the Nvidia number for it -- but I don't think this is a driver issue upon 3 fresh OS installs and numerous different drivers in the past.

Hello. This is my first post. I'm 'ok' with computers but I don't know anything about networking. My internet connection has a speed of 1 Gbps. My xbox 360 is connected wirelessly. My computer is connected via ethernet to my wireless router. I don't know how to look at anything else.

Now that I'm trying to play Pc games my ping can vary from 100 to 400 which is really slow there is a lot of rubber banding. Why does my xbox work fine and how can I reduce the computer's latency?

I went to Microcenter almost exactly a year ago, and with their help bought an entire PC piece by piece. I can't remember exactly when it started happening (I think it was from the 2nd or 3rd day) but I started getting BSODs when playing Arma 3 (high end game). I figured it was some software or driver issue so I just ignored it. In the past few months I have been trying to fix the issue, I even formatted windows and installed every driver disk I have + downloaded updated drivers but I still got a BSOD within 3 days - so I am pretty sure this isn't a driver issue. When I play a lot (like on a Saturday) I will get two or three.

Most of the time it is while I am playing a high end game, or closing a high end game. I can leave my computer running at the desktop for days on end and 9 times out of 10 I don't have a problem. I just ran Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and it found no problems. I have ran other 3rd party tools that test memory and didn't find any issues either. The minidumps I have so far are as follows:

Also, my GPU runs at about mid 70s Celsius when playing games..

How do,

I've recently installed a new AMD 8150-FX 8-Core processor (Black Edition)

Ever since I replaced my old AMD Phenom II 4X 965 Black Edition, with the above mentioned, I've had blue screens.

Now this is only happening when I am playing demanding games such as ARMA2, GTA4, Crysis ect ect ect;
I also note that it only seems to be happening when I've got the settings to Ultra or highest settings.

Now I know that my PC is more than capable of playing today's best games on Max/ Ultra because I was playing with those settings on my old CPU.

I'm sure this has got something to do with the new CPU.
Below is a copy of what the 'Event Viewer' is telling me:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xfffff800480d479e, 0x000000000000000d, 0x0000000000000008, 0xfffff800480d479e). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072012-33914-01.

Sorry I've not attached a file however I did try to and I was told it was invalid so I couldn't upload it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks.

I have a BSOD problem. I thought it's only dust build-up so I cleaned my PC. It went well for a day, but then it happened again. When I don't play games, or when I play lower quality games I have no problem. But when I play games like Skyrim, Black Ops, Revelations, etc. it happens in around 10min time period.

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

I'm having a problem where whenever I play online games such as World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online, my entire computer will freeze after a few hours. I was able to deal with this, but recently a new patch was release for World of Warcraft and now my computer can only run the game for less than a minute after logging in before it freezes. The computer completely freezes but you can hear everything in the system still running (such as fans and lights). I have no idea what the problem is. I tried updating my BIOS drivers today (hopefully i did that correctly) as well as my video drivers. I also did a memory test and everything was fine.

These are my specs:
P5VDC-MX Asus motherboard
Nvidia Geforce FX 5500 256mb (agp 8x)
1 gig of ddr2
Pentium D 820
Rosewill AP-500x 450W PSU
Stock cooling on everything

The only thing that I can think of is to replace the video card... which i can see being the problem because i took it from a previous system that had most of its components fried when the memory was placed in the wrong way. The computer runs perfect when its not running high-graphics games, never freezing and running much faster than my dell.

Is there anything else that could be the problem that i should check out before i invest in an 80$ XFX Geforce 7600 GS?

Thanks in advance,

But recently i have been receiving ping of around 350-400 which makes the game barely playable. I am playing on Eastern European servers since that is what is recommended for Middle Eastern Players.

I have performed numerous diagnostic tests, tried a wired connection, disabled IPV6 , tried a public DNS etc. But i can find the root of the problem. Please Help

hello everyone,

I've had a really frustrating problem where my computer crashes about an hour into playing Call of Duty 4. The screen freezes and is accompanied by scrambled audio and a really high pitched beeping noise. The beep doesn't come in intervals it comes in one long beep, like a heart monitor flat-lining. The crash can come within 10 minutes of gameplay or like an hour of gameplay and the only way to recover from the crash is to restart the computer.

I've ruled out problems with my memory (ran memtest fine), and problems with my PSU (installed a 500w PSU recently). All my graphics and audio drivers are up to date. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Here are some system specs:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual core processor 3800+ @ 2015MHz
2GBs of RAM
ATI Radeon x850 XT
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Rosewill 500w PSU(forgot the exact details but i dont see the PSU as the problem)

please help :/

A:Computer crashes while playing high-end 3d games

The causes are sometimes hard to track down, because there are so many possibilities: Excessive heat at the processor from inadequate cooling; Inadequate memory; Value Ram or other slow ram instead of modules with rapid timings; overheated video card; video card with inadequate memory; slow hard drive; cpu heatsink is not firmly seated with thermal paste; too much thermal paste which acts as an insulator; cpu fan is wearing out; dust and hair in any cooling fan or heat sink; hard drive is going bad; too much heat inside or simply inadequate case cooling; power supply is not up to the task and provides less reliable output as it overheats; Sound card is overheating or other PCI card unrelated to what you are doing is bad... such as a modem.
Different techs have various solutions for tracking down the problem, but all of the above may need to be examined before you determine the cause.
Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Hello everyone,I've gotten a new pc not to long ago, and a new wireless network card with it. Ever since i've been using this my online games get super high latency when i browse the internet while playing. Obviously the easy solution would be to not browse the internet while playing, but i enjoy watching youtube video's etc and looking things up online while in game, and currently it can't play well while doing so.I can't seem to find why this is happening. I've got a download speed of about 350mbit/s with a ping between 3 and 6 when doing anything else to other servers. It just seems to be games, specificly blizzard games that is affected when i'm browing the internet. Speedtests still show a good ping for instance.I haven't tried downloading things while playing to see if that effects it, if that matters please let me know and i'll try it out.I've ran a pathping to the european warcraft server(while browsing the internet) however the lag comes in frequant spikes, and it seems the pathping didn't pick it up. I'm planning on just pruchasing a computer which will have this card, and a couple other specs I'll list.
2.8GHz 2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2600S processor; 8MB Cache
8GB system memory (2x4GB)
1.0TB hard drive
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Radeon HD 6570 Graphics with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory
And my monitor resolution is 1600 x 1050, thought I might upgrade screens soon. Nothing bigger than 27" though, the one I currently have is 22".

Basically I wanna know if this computer will be capable of running the listed games on atleast high smoothly.

Battlefield 3
Call Of Duty Black Ops
Saints Row The Third
Team Fortress 2
Dirt 3
Assassins Creed Revelations
Batman Arkam City
Crysis 2
L.A. Noire
Dead Space 2
Duke Nukem Forever
Sonic Generations
APB Reloaded
Serious Sam 3 BFE

A:Is the Radeon HD 6570 Graphics able to run games on high?

Unlikely, the Radeon HD 6570 is an entry level gaming card, plenty of reviews out on it.

As an example the recommended cards for BF3 are a Geforce GTX 560 or a Radeon HD 6950.

If you are gamer then you'll want a way better graphics, probably nothing less then a Radeon HD 6850 if you have a tight budget, but preferably one of the above mentioned cards.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them

What has been happening is that even though my boyfriend and I have the same laptop, the same OS (Operating System) (Windows 8), and the same internet connection, my ping for games goes up to 12k while his stays at 29.

Our laptops are the Asus X551CA, with the only difference between our laptops is that he has 2GB more RAM (Random Access Memory) than I.

I have tried putting a password on my internet, turning off my firewall, changing my I.P. connection thing to Google's, and turning off my peer-to-peer networking, but nothing is working!
He downloads more torrents than I, and his laptop would definitely be at greater risk for viruses so I do not know what is going on with the way my computer connects to the internet.
I have tried using system restore and everything!

The games he and I have tried playing together are League of Legends and World of Warcraft; so far, League definitely lags more with my ping going all the way up to 15k while WoW usually only goes up to 6k for me. The lag spikes are spontaneous, and he never gets any despite sharing the same connection!

Even when he is not here, I still lag. However, when my laptop is at his house, it does not lag at all! Any suggestions or help please?

Hi everyone

I just bought my new laptop, Asus ux303lb yesterday and since then I have been experiencing high ping and frequent disconnections in games, namely Tera and Warframe. I have run them perfectly on my older computer with even poorer specs. A test on and shows that I have no packet loss and my ping is well below 10ms. I also take an extremely long time to log into games. Could I get some help please? Thank you.

A:High ping and frequent disconnections in games

Few suggestions, (im not an IT guru):
- Performance when loading games is due to your computers specifications and/or any other programs that you may be running in the background;
- When using a laptop for gaming please remember that slow performance can be due to power saving features of your device. Laptops use this to prolong the battery life. The power saving feature will stop using the ac adaptor and use the battery for a predetermined amount of time, after which it will charge the battery up. When using the battery power, this can result in less power to hardware making gaming fps drop etc...
- Ping: try "cmd.exe" and type "tracert" and after once space type gaming server ip address. This will show you the network path from your laptop through all the network hardware and should show you any problems which you can discuss with your ISP.
- Points to remember: update all drivers as they encompass new releases and fix older bugs, don't download when playing online games, ensure your WIFI connection is via 5ghz network (if available) and not 2.4ghz, every so often restart your router

I'm getting horrible frame rates in games (0-2FPS in DOD:S with an oc'd geforce 6800) and i recently had to drop the latencies to 3-5-6-8 to accomidate the errors i was getting in Memtest86. I had a bad stick of ram and i removed it and now i have 2x256MB in dual channel mode.

Can these low latencies cause terrible frame rates in games? I still am getting a few errors on test 5 with my current setup (as opposed to the thousands with the bad piece of ram). should i buy some new RAM or raise the voltage or change some of the timings?

any help would be great.

A:Can high RAM latencies cause bad frame rates in games?

What's the rest of your machine line? CPU, etc?
Having 512MB of ram isn't helping anything but having questionable memory could be causing some problems.
You can get 1GB of good ram for under $80 now.

Im posting this under Windows 8 thread, because I couldnt find more appriopriate place. Especially that I dont know what is causing my problem.

In general - performance of my PC has decreased sginificantly recently, and I suspect one of the recent Flash updates (however, on Win 7 - I do not experience this problem).

- CPU Core 2 Duo 2.5
- GPU Nvida GeForce 9600
- Enermax 425
- 4 GB Corsair

I have good cooling system, so the temperatures are not the problem (less then 50 under stress)

The biggest problem I noticed is when I play flash games. I've been playing them forever, but the problems started ~2 weeks ago. CPU usage jumps to 50-75% when the Chrome tab is active. The same happens in Firefox and IE. However, when I play in laptop (much weaker specs, but Win 7) - the CPU usage stays normal ~5%.

But I also noticed weaker performance in games. Leage of Legends for example. The strange thing is that FPS only drops in certain circumstances. I think that when lot of bright colours appear on screen. But it's only a wild guess. In ~75% of the time, FPS is high (60).

But sometimes PC solws down greatly for a moment when switching between windows. Especially with those little preview windows:

System is pretty fresh, I had to reinstall Win 8 ~4 weeks ago due to (I think) Hdd failure. PC froze and it wouldnt start. All recovery options failed. Only reinstal from CD helped.

I would appreciate support.

A:[SOLVED] High CPU usage (Flash, Games)

Looking at your startbar it looks like you have installed some customizations, have you disabled them and tried

the symptoms makes me think either the driver is out of date or the card may be going bad.

Not a gamer, so I don't know whether the games you're having problem w/ are only GPU intensive or both GPU & CPU. Best thing might be to stress test your CPU & GPU separately.

You can run something like Furmark to stress test your graphics card. For CPU, maybe Prime95.

Hopefully one of these can help you rule out your problem.

I just recently started pinging high on some servers on BF2142. Randomly ping from 65 to 800+. Ran Spybot and Adaware until I was clean and rebooted. My ping still jumped around like it did before. I partially ran Kaspersky and it found Stopped scanning after that, but I started it back up and I'm going to let Kaspersky do its thing. I'll post a Kaspersky log when its done. A:Started Pinging High On Games. Ran Kaspersky.

I was afraid to bump the topic with the result of more scans before 5 days because I didn't want it to be skipped, but I posted my topic address in the "Post here if you haven't been helped in 5 days" sticky. Well, I downloaded and ran Kasperskys free trial and it found the like it did in the online scan, however, its placed in a quarantine folder of the Norton trial from when it was installed when I recieved the computer. Don't know if its safe to delete or not. Before I get anyone thinking I have more than one anti-virus installed, I only have Kaspersky's right now, but I ditching it and going back to AVG when the trial is over. Thanks for any help!

When playing high-spec games, every time I play, the game will at some point, usually sooner rather than later, crash. The nature of the crash is not one I have encountered before - the monitor suddenly loses its signal and resultantly goes on standby, while the tower crashes and requires a forced restart to reboot. The above, according to windows 7, is the problem's description. It has been absolutely driving me mad trying to find a solution to this problem as my knowledge is quite basic. I assumed it was a driver issue. Any help anyone can provide would be very much appreciated. My system specs are as follows:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 8650 Triple-Core Processor
Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4800 series (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1)
Gaming Graphics: 2303 MB Total available graphics memory
Primary Hard Disk 298 GB Total

My Graphics Card driver version is 8.741.0.0 and I have DirectX 10

As I said before, any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.

I have been having problems recently with running any type of online game. I can connect but usually get high latency upwards of 4000ms within a few minutes and then a total disconnect. The main game that I play is World of Warcraft which I have been running fine for the past 7 months but all of a sudden is giving me problems. Here is my HijackThis log. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Sevenforums i got this problem playing high performance games..

When i enter the following games (below) my graphic hits 75 - 85 celcius (what worries me is the world of warcraft... It's only on HIGH and it goes to almost 90 celcius)

World of warcraft (high)
Battlefield 3 (Ultra)
Guild wars 2 (Ultra)

I was reading abit about this problem on google and saw a person telling another one that was having the same problem as me that a PSU could heat up your GPU if it is just under your GPU..

- My PSU is not far from my GPU and the fan on my PSU is almost just up against my GPU so i kinda wonder can a PSU really heat up my GPU that much?

My cousin got a very tiny case for his pc, he got a gtx 560ti and hits 65 - 70 celcius and goes 50fps in stormwind with 60+ players around him and 200 - 250fps outside stormwind. in stormwind i got 20 fps and in world i got 60 - 100 fps.

I got a Evga GTX 580 1534MB myself and should be alot better then the gtx 560TI.. He also runs 20 - 30 fps higher then me in Guild wars (60 - 90fps) i am running 30 - 50fps..

Any help would help me.. I've updated my specs and i will upload a picture of the inside of my pc when i get back my phone tomorrow!

Battlefield runs smooth but my pc is overheating.

A:GTX 580 overheating playing High Performance games

A 580 draws more power, and delivers far more performance than a 560 so it is not thta stragnge it will run warmer.

75-85C for a 580 is normal. Now, if you simply want it to run cooler theres a couple things you should do.

1. Clean out your case with some compressed air. Clean all the fans, filters and inside of everything well to get rid of as much dust as you can.

2. Improve airflow.
You'll want to make sure you have plenty of cool air cioming in, and towards the GPU from the front of the case. make sure there are no wires etc that can obstruct the airflow.

3. And lastly, you can use a program like eVGA Precision or Afterburner and create a custom fan profile. I have mine set to ramp up on the slope type settings. At 70C its running the fan at 60% which keeps it much cooler than the default speeds. Never really goes over 65-70 under heavy load.
Just depends on how cool you want it to run, how much airflow you have now, and how much noise you are willing to add to your PC. Faster fan speeds do improve temps, but increase noise a good deal too.

Also, on framerates.
You must consider the game settings used, as well as resolution. If hes running a lower resolution, it will be easier to get hifgher FPS with less for example.

Also, depending on your monitor, Vsync should be used.

heres why.
Lets say your monitor is 60hz. This means it can only display 60FPS, no matter what. If your GPU is drawing 10,000 FPS it doesnt matter. Only 60FPs gets displayed on the screen... Read more

Hello all,

I'll try to make a somewhat long story short. A couple of days ago I found my computer running unusually slowly when gaming. My computer isn't a powerhouse, but it's run just fine with certain games like GTA5 and Civ 5 if the graphics options have been tweaked appropriately.

My sound started dropping out, sounding static-like. Tried checking the headphone jack and speakers, which turned out to be fine on their own. As I was playing, the framerate would drop out with the noise seemingly trying to catch up as well. After trying a number of regular things such as turning off programs that suck up CPU usage and memory, it still didn't help. Opened up my laptop and cleaned it out with an aircan, thinking it might be due to dust. Still, no dice.

I read somewhere that it could be due to high dpc latency, so I downloaded LatencyMon and a dpc latency checker. After letting them run for a number of times along with Windows xperf, it seems as though ndis.sys was the issue. I downloaded SlimDrivers to check on driver updates and it found that my network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros ar9485wb-eg) needed a new driver. Downloaded that, installed it, and still dpc latency was high. Tried disabling it via Device Manager and playing a game, still no dice. Found another possible driver causing the issue, hdaudbus.sys, causing high latency. Can't find a fix for this or ndis.sys through other posts and tutorials. Even tried going from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 to see if the drivers woul... Read more

A:High DPC Latency issues when playing games.

You have a pretty powerful computer. The biggest problems with games is that they are GPU intense and the GPU card needs the horsepower and a lot of RAM to handle them.

Zycon with another problem again, go figure... Everytime I play either Age Of Conan, Call Of Duty 4, or any other cpu stressful games my computer shuts off after a short amount of gameplay. I can tell when it is about to. It normally makes a noise that sounds like a normal fan but when it is about to shut off during those games, that fan noise gets higher and higher pitched until it finally shuts down. Whats the deal here? I look at my cpu temp during the game (alt tab out) and it says 30-34 degrees. this wasnt a problem until after i overclocked it once but turned it back to normal clock. Help.
