HI;
When i am trying to open Symantec Tech support site i am getting error message that "Internet explore has encountered some problem.Needs to close". And in the error signature Mode name is = oleaut32.dll.

I am using IE7 with Win XP MCE.

Please help me in solving this problem.

Thanks,
Soumit.

A:Getting oleaut32.dll error while opening some websites in IE7

This may be caused by an ActiveX element that uses that file.

You should be able to find this file on the internet, use Google.com to find it.
Download it, and copy it to C:\windows\system32\ . If Windows is installed on another disk, change the "C:" part to something else (you get the idea).

Hey ya'll... (thats a hey ya'll with a sigh at the end).

My psu died and somehow the motherboard/cpu went too.
So after buying and installing the new hardware i'm now having some issues.
Everything was fine for weeks but now sometimes i get an error message. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Everything starts up as per normal but once it comes to the Windows screens (desktop) i get a blue screen with the following error message: (pls bear with me its a spiel and a half lol)

A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUTDOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU'VE SEEN THIS STOP ERROR SCREEN, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. IF THIS SCREEN APPEARS AGAIN, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

CHECK TO MAKE SURE ANY NEW HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE IS PROPERLY INSTALLED. IF THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION, ASK YOUR HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER FOR ANY WINDOWS UPDATES YOU MIGHT NEED.

IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES, DISABLE OR REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE. DISABLE BIOS MEMORY OPTIONS SUCH AS CACHING OR SHADOWING. IF YOU NEED TO USE SAFE MODE TO REMOVE OR DISABLE COMPONENTS, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, PRESS F8 TO SELECT ADVANCED STARTUP OPTIONS, AND THEN SELECT SAFE MODE.

0x0000007A: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
A page of kernel data was not found in the pagefile and could not be read into memory. This might be due to incompatible disk or controller drivers, firmware, or hardware.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms793989.aspx
Frequently, you can determine the cause of the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR bug check from the error status (Parameter 2).
Bug Check 0xCE: DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS

The DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS bug check has a value of 0x000000CE. This indicates that a driver failed to cancel pending operations before unloading.

Most likely this problem occurs if the Win32k.sys Windows file conflicts with a device driver that is installed on your computer.

Did you update your motherboard chipset drivers? Or try to flash an IDE device?

Every time I open a website, an error message appears telling me Windows cannot find that particular URL. It asks me to make sure the web address is correct and to then carefully re-enter it. The message then disappears Then the site opens as it should have. I am running Vista Home Premium. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to get rid of it. Thanks.

Hello. I got a fake anti-virus alert yesterday. I didn't click on it but my computer is infected anyway. I ran Superantispyware and Malwarebytes numerous times yesterday and both had results of critical viruses. After the virus removal, the computer seemed normal but I ran Superantispyware and Malwarebytes again and once again showed results of critical point viruses. Due to these viruses, some websites have been opening up blank one minute and then opens normally the next minute. Some websites get redirected to other/random websites. And every few minutes the computer makes a sound (sound you hear when a small window pops up informing you that a anti-virus software has finished scanning for viruses) even though no programs are opened.

Hi, I am running Windows XP Home Edition V2002 SP3 on an ASUS Eee PC.

When I go into Windows Explorer I get a message "A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider Google (www.google.com). Internet Explorer will now open search settings where you can change this setting or install more search providers".

Search settings screen opens, and confirms Google as the default search provider so I don't change anything here, just take the clause open and it continues into Explorer login. However EVERY time I go into Explorer I get the above sequence of messages/actions, so the re-setting is not taking effect permanently.

Can anyone advise how to overcome this please?

Thanks

Mike Marenghi

This has started happening the last couple weeks. When I click on my email I get this:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 5100, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
Now this doesn't always happen, sometimes it connects, and opens right up. Then I can send, recieve and log off. Then maybe a couple hours later I click on and get this same message, I 'X' the message off and click on the send recieve button. Then I either get the same error message, or it may decide to open up, and then I get my mail. Or I may get the error 3 times before I finally get thru. This just started 2 weeks ago, and being this fickle is starting to annoy me. It's a two year old HP with 2 G of RAM and Vista. I can still go to Google online and go right to my email with no problem. Anybody else getting this?

Hi,
I was having problems with my software and eventually decided the best thing was to download a fresh copy of Windows XP. It seemed to be playing up while I was installing because it would just keep repeating the same questions and not get to the actual installation. I closed down and once I rebooted, I received this message:
File/i386/biosinfo.inf could not be found. The error code is 18. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
I did that and had to reboot again. This time I got a message saying:
Error loading operating system

What can I do to correct this problem?

I use a program called Juice to download Podcasts and today when I went to open it I got the message Error Occured See the Log File Crogram Files\Juice\Juiceexe.log

I'm guessing that it is a hidden file because when I went to Crogram Files\Juice there was no exe.log

How do I get to that file?

I just wanted to add that I figured out how to see the hidden files but that exe.log still doesn't show.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but when I try to open some .jpeg files, I sometimes (key word "sometimes") get the following error message:

"Microsoft Internet Explorer
Root.html,_Route Call(): Routing liquid not found."

I have to click on the "OK" approx. 10 consecutive times before the error message goes away and then seems nothing is affected. Strange thing is that I can try to re-open the same file and it may open or I may get the same error message again. I'm using an older program to view photos and pics (MGI Photosuite III) but I like it, it's easy and has everything I need. It seems the error message doesn't affect anything but it really a nuisance. Thanks for any help or suggestions

Hi! our Gateway desktop computer running on Windows Vista started to show the following error message whenever we try to left doubble-click to open any folder:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel".

The only way we can open folders is to right click and choose "open". We've already checked our mouse and folder options settings and verified them to be correct.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I'm trying to setup an email for a coworker and we're having trouble. Sending and receiving seem to work OK but then when we try to open emails by double-clicking on them, we get an error message along the lines of "Can't open the email. Contents can't be accessed. Need to open email online." (this isn't verbatim; I don't have the error message in front of me at the moment).

He's using Outlook 2002. The mail service is with Telus (Calgary, Alberta). The incoming mail server is imap.telus.net (I read somewhere that IMAP mail servers can have problems like this).

Logging onto the server online can be done, and works, but he'd much rather use Outlook as the online webmail is a "pain in the ***" (his words).

Can anybody help please?

A:error message when opening emails

Hi gib88,

From within Outlook click on the Tools menu > choose Send/Receive > Send/Receive Settings, and then Define Send/Receive Groups.
Choose the Edit button.
Click on your IMAP account in the left pane, and then under the Receive Mail Items section choose “Download complete items including attachments”.
You can alternately choose - Use custom behavior defined below - and choose only your Inbox - or the exact folders you want to download the full items to.

If you have a large amount of items in your Inbox - you may want to create sub folders - and customize Outlook to download specific folders.
That may save you from getting file corruption - and / or making Outlook slow to open.

Hope that works for you.

Hi and Welcome to TSF

If you are using Msconfig's selective startup...please uncheck it as I need to see everything running.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
*Note* For Ad-AwareSE also install the VX2 Addon Cleaner To run this tool once Adaware is updated click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK" , then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.
Spybot Search & Destroy
CWShredder

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Click Scan Now
Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Click on see report. Then click Save report
Please post that log in your next reply.

After lots of problem I have just had my Windows7 professionally reinstalled and am now in the process of installing my software. The Microsoft Office software is Ms Office with Frontpage. My list of programs confirms that this is the installed program and Frontpage can indeed be opened. When I try to open Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc I get a message that says"the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage' disk and click OK". When I do this nothing happens. I then click "Cancel" and Excel opens OK. It is not much more than a nuisance but how can I get rid of these error message?
Cheers,

Logging onto the server online can be done, and works, but he'd much rather use Outlook as the online webmail is a "pain in the ass" (his words).

Can anybody help please?

I started receiving an error message box that states "This application failed to start because netfxy.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." when attempting to open anything. In the blue bar top area of the error message it states "rundll32exe(or whatever i'm trying to open) - Unable To Locate Component." Now if I click OK on that box, most of the time the application will open successfuly. But when I restart the computer I may receive a total of 15 error messages before the desktop even loads. It seems that the computer is looking for this netfxy.dll file(which I guess doesn't exist) every single time it tries to run something. Help!

or maybe a policy, .. start > run > type gpedit.msc and press enter.
expand User Configuration > Administrative Templates >System .. u'll find "Disable registry editing tools" .. if it's enabled, then it's active. u can change it to disabled.

Hi Guys,

Moved the thread from Networking as I got no answers... perhaps this will yield better results! This pop-up window (Thread Title) started to appear when pressing the button 'New FAX'. Second line goes on to say: Specified procedure could not be found.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to even start to look at where or why this problem is suddenly occurring? This seems to have started after a critical update but I can't be certain. I couldn't roll back to an earlier restore point as it only saves the last two or three (on every boot-up?) so there wasn't one earlier enough to try.

A:Opening A Downloaded Program Get A Error Message

Hello and to BC

First and foremost about this, have you scanned your computer for Any sort of malware before / after doing this download as it may be infected, Just a thought

Secondly, what type of program are you trying to download, if its a simple program such as an AV , or a free game or something like that, from a trusted site, it should not be giving you an error such as that

if its an older exe file maybe it just won't work with your xp, Just a couple of thoughts to toss out there
Hope to hear from you soon

Maybe running sfc & dism would help.

I run them from a batch file to save time.

sfc /scannow
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
pause

Save as repair.bat using all files or it will end up with a .txt extention.
Or just run them alone in an Administrator Command Prompt.
Right click your .bat file & choose Run as administrator if you make one.

I am running windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Whenever I try open outlook or anything in office 2003 I receive the following error message: please wait while windows configures microsoft office single image 2003.

The above error message is an identical message sent to this Forum by "drumstik59" but was for Office 2010 instead of Office 2003.

This was solved by the reply given by "Irene" which is :-

"..paste the following commands one at a time and press ENTER.

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Word\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Excel\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 \Access\Options /vNoReReg/tREG_DWORD/d 1 "

As I have the same error message with MS Office 2003 but have "\11.0\" in the script instead of "\14.0\" would this solution also apply to Office 2003 ?

A:Receiving error message when opening office 2003

Well, version 11.0 applies to Microsoft Office 2003, so it's certainly worth a try.

How to check the version of Office 2003 products

If you decide to import the modified script into the registry, please make sure you backup the complete registry first and a system restore point wouldn't go amiss either, in case you get problems.

Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You do not have permission to log on.

I'm assuming that this is because it is trying to use the Windows logon username and password to access the second profile. Is there any way to get Outlook to prompt for a password when accessing the new mail profile?

Hi,
A few weeks ago I started get a lot of popups, especially with Explorer (I mainly run firefox). I ran some spyware/adware programs and it has helped some but I am still getting a few. Also, the last few days I have been having trouble with google, yahoo and a few other websites. I can get to the google home page, but if I try to do an actual search, the website just hangs. I can't even get to the yahoo home page. Just hangs and says 'waiting for www.yahoo.com' in the bottom left corner. Most websites work fine. The one strange thing is that every now and then I can get to google and yahoo for awhile but then it will stop later on. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have attached the DSS files below.

Thanks, Paul

When I attempt to open an Excel file using Excel 2003, the following error message occurs:

"this file is not in a recognizable format" etc...

Why does this occur, and how can I open the file successfully?

A:Solved: Excel 2003 - error message when opening file

Check the file extension. Am sure it has an extension ".xlsx" which means that the file was created using microsoft office 2007 excel or higher. This is why your computer does not recognize the extension of the file. the 2003 version of excel can only open files with the extension ".xls". The solution to this is to get microsoft office 2007 or higher version and install it or got the following link and download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack and install it. it will enable you to open the file without having to install the office 2007 which may not be fit for your machine specifications.

Hi

I have just purchased a small digital camera that came with Ulead PE 3.0.

I went through the installation wizard for this software and it seemed to install correctly.

The icon for PE3.0 now appears on my desk top however when I double click on it I receive the following message:
IPE30 this program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down.

I check the 'details' of this error message and it says:
IPE30 executed an invalid instruction in module U32COMM.dll at 015f:4a10a40d.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong? If I need to uninstall and reinstall the software - how do I go about doing this?

Thanks

I am the only person to use my pc and I am the administrator. I have Windows XP and am using Internet Explorer7. I had no problems until, due to illness I didn't use pc for 2 months. I tried to update cccleaner but a windows error message came up. There was no error code. Today I've tried to open an attachment to an e-mail from my nephew but the same error message appeared. I then chose to save the attachment instead. The error message still appeared I pressed 'ok' on the error message and it disappeared. The attachment was saved to where I had instructed. The error message says 'C:\Documents and Settings\(personal name)\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ the last part changes. Plus 'Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item'. I have emptied all temporary files etc. to no effect. I've taken copy of error message but can't upload it as 'invalid file' shows. What is wrong?

msnmsgr.exe - Entry Point Not FoundThe procedure entry point CreateInfoWindow could not be located in the dynamic link library MSOERT.dll.Anyone have a clue what this means? It appeared out of no where a few days ago. I googled it, searched for it on a few different Microsoft search engines and pretty much came up blank. I found this link which looks suspicious (personally my suspicion borders on paranoia as far as computers go. My kids insist on having it though). http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/msnmsgr.exe.htmlYou know what bugs me the most about error messages? There's no way to copy and past the stupid things into a search engine. You have to manually type the stupid thing in, assumimg it lets you do anything when its on the screen in which case you have to write the damn thing down first and then type it in.

Hello,

As mentioned in the title, I've recently encountered problems while opening the folder in which I download files to. What's different from what I've experienced in the past, is that this error doesn't pop up for any other drive/folder but this specific part of the directory. So I'm wondering is it possible to cut the files to a new folder and delete/avoid this folder? Or are my problems greater than something as simple as this?

Background info:
While attempting to upgrade the expansion for WoW: Burning Crusade, I wasn't able to more or less for the fact that my original drive that came with the computer (dell 2001) is starting to fall apart. ie. corrupt file packets I believe it was. This folder is in the same hard drive, so it just possible that the hard drive is going to randomly do this until it completely malfunctions? Or have I downloaded malware of some sort that was never detected? I've run ad-aware, S&D, Anti-Trojan, Symantec AV multiples times making sure to do updates before each scan, but nothing has come up.

If you could please give me some ideas as to how to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The question is asked in my interview (tech support executive )

Qestion : What will you do if www.yahoo.com is not opening in IE but other websites are opening? What are the possible reasons for failure?

A:yahoo.com is not opening in IE but other websites opening?

i'm having the same problem
Have you noticed it's also Amazon, eBay and other similar websites?
I think it's something to do with secure websites (SSL).

Also, this works for some people and not others (didn't for me):
Get this:
http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.zip
then extract and run it. don't touch anything except the bottom section. from the dropdown box select what you use to connect to internet and in the small box to the right of it type 1492.
click save and exit the program. Reboot your computer

Hope it works
Let me know if it does

Hi, first time post here. I maintain our church's computer systems and am an IT guy so know enough to be dangerous. We have a fairly new Dell desktop (2-3 years old) running XP Pro. Church secretary uses this machine and she is not very techy. I've run all the cleanup utils, virus scans, defrags, chkdsk /f etc. What happens is that after she is using the computer for awhile, she will go into My Documents and try to open a Word file. System seems to hang up. I checked the task manager and it says the My Documents has become non responsive. Have to end the task to get out of it. Seems to happen on any files in My Documents. I've been able to repeat it. I ran checkdsk /f, which seemed to run pretty slow. I'm beginning to wonder if the hard drive is failing but it only seems to happen when working in My docs. I'm going to do some more double checking but would be curious if you have any ideas or other things I could check. Thanks so much!

It seems to be system processes that cannot open for some reason. If I open a third party application like Process Explorer and run that as administrator I can, however, if I open task manager with administrator rights it never opens and consent.exe just hangs. I tried this in safe mode and everything works just fine.

I had just finished doing a malware scan (Malware Bytes, SuperAntiSpyware, JRT, Combofix, etc...)

So I bought a HyperX Fury SSD 240GB a while back, decided I would put it into my rig when it was time for a Windows 7 reinstall or fresh install of Windows 10.Since Windows 7 was starting acting up, Base Filtering Engine wouldnt start inturn Firewall wouldnt start. I then thought now was the good time to go to Windows 10, and use my newly bought SSD.The install was quick, and boot times are blazingly fast. But whenever I open up a new program, files, or just open up a folder my PC hangs for a few microseconds. This is kinda annoying if I'm listening to music (or have any audio in general playing in the background), because it will loop while the tiny hang is happening.Anyone have any ideas to what this could be?Its a fresh install, all I have installed is an antivirus program and Steam.nuFF3

First note- I have ruled out malware causes for now. I've run scans with MBAM(quick plus selective specific folder scans)), SAS(quick and full) and TDSSkiller, and found nothing at all.

Second note- a reboot seems to have cleared the issue, for now. I'll monitor it though. I just want to know the cause.

Okay so... first off I had clogged the RAM some by running Firefox overnight a couple nights to play some "idle" type games. I play them a lot, and I really should stop. Second, I bought an MP3 player as a birthday gift for someone and had to load music onto it(they lack the means). It is a USB 1.1 device so file transfers were slow and it took about 2 hours to get everything on. I suspect this clogged Explorer.

This started shortly after finishing that task. I put in a micro SD card to put some files onto it, created a fresh folder and... the window opened then minimized. The taskbar showed it there but with a generic icon and clicking did nothing. I could close it by clicking the X box. Took a bit of work, removed and reseated the card but it persisted. Thinking maybe the SD card was causing it I wanted to run a test on the card- opening a local folder did the same thing PLUS I got a popup to update Javascript- legit, I believe. I ran malware scans and found nothing. Eventually proceeding it seemed that if I copied and pasted a folder name it would definitely cause this when working with the SD card, typing the name manually let me proceed. Okay, all is fine, st... Read more

The same thing happens when I try to open another browser simultaneously.

Hi,
I've been having a problem since upgrading to XP a few months ago. About 75% of the times that I open up "my pictures" in "my documents" (where I store lots of my digital photos) I get the error message where it asks you if you want to send an error report. Whether I choose to or not, or even if I simply shut the message, "my pictures" closes and I therefore cannot access the folder. The other 25% of the time it opens fine.

As I say, it's just photos and short videos stored in here, all taken by my own digital camera. Virus and other problem checkers haven't detected anything, and there's no reason to suspect these files are infected with anything.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to get around it? Thanks

I have had this problem for awhile now. I can't open some websites, well, mostly google.com, and anything to do with google.com; including youtube.com and such. However, I can open google.ca with no problems whatsoever.

Occasionally, google.com does open, and youtube.com works, but it's usually only for a short period of time. Also, whenever I try to open youtube.com or google.com now, I get a pop-up that tells me:

"WARNING! Your flash player me be out of date. Please update to continue."

I have restored my computer to factory settings via system recovery, and I'd like to add that before the system recovery, I clicked the flash player update, and it downloaded setup.exe, which I opened. It didn't do anything though except asking for permission to run. It did absolutely nothing afterwards.

After the system recovery, I still get the same issue with the flash player, and google.com, youtube.com not working. I have tried to scan with malwarebytes, tdsskiller, and Avast's aswmbr. I have also tried minitoolbox and others. I can't seem to find a solution. I even asked my ISP to reset my network configuration. Not only is this affecting my laptop, but also its affecting my mobile, which get's the same fake flash player update notification, and other laptops in the household have the same problem as well.

How can I fix this issue?

Since last 2 days, I have encountered a peculiar problem, some web sites are not opening in my Computer.
Others websites open as usual.

No new hardware or software installed before this event occurred or any changes made in the system.

My system data:
P 4, with Intel 101GGCL mother board; 160 GB SATA HDD; 1.256 GB RAM.
I had installed: AVG Free (anti-virus); Zone Alarm (firewall); Spybot S&D & SpywareBlaster (anti-spy)
My default browser is FireFox 3, with add-ons/extensions - NoScript; McAfee Site Advisor; WOT; AdBlock+, etc.

I could open those websites (which do not open on my computer) on two of my friends' computers (who has the same ISP as mine), situate at different places, without any problem -

Can somebody throw any light on this ?

Thanks,

Hi Everyone,

First of all, thank you folks for providing us with such a great forum. Anytime I lose hope in mankind, seeing these forums and all the helpful folks restore my faith !

Now to my problem: I cannot open about 50 percent of the web sites on the Internet. I am using Windows 98SE, and IE6.0 browser. When I get to many web sites, the message says, "The Page Cannot Be Displayed." The websites I am trying to reach are general websites such as Microsoft, Netscape, Cnet, HP, Yahoo, etc. and are not restricted. I cannot even open my e-mail at Yahoo !!!

Here are some of the things I have done without any success:
1-Upgraded from IE5.5 to IE6.0
2- Switched to Netscape browser
3- Increased memory capacity for the Temporary Internet files
4-Checked DNS numbers under TCP/IP
5-Added Client for Microsoft Network
6- Tried different ISP phone number
7-Checked my phone line
8- My friends do not have any problem opening those sites
9- My ISP tech support has not been able to solve the problem
10- Those sites administrators say their sites are working fine
11- I should have added to my list of things I have tried without success the following:
- I have set my browser to accept ALL cookies

Do you pay for you internet access or do you parents. If you are a kid (sorry if you are not) then they may have put parental controls on the pages. But that is just a thought. Can you give us some of the websites you are trying to access.

I can open the files if I navigate to them first without opening the app but if I open up word for example, then navigate to the file it just hangs. It's as soon as you click on the drop down menu to select a network drive.

The PC is new with XP SP2 and its office 2003.

Many Thanks,

Adam

Hi,

As of now Yahoo, microsoft, timesofindia websites do not open for me in IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Opera. It takes me to a page with random ads like Google Adwords, Facebook, Monster, like so. I have attached a rar file of the screenshot for reference.

I removed malware using Malwarebytes and also SuperAntiSpyware - they detected threats but still the sites do not open. Some help forums suggest that I check the IP address listed in the host file - mine is "127.0.0.1 localhost", hope this is correct! (Though not sure why this check needs to be done!!)

Please help!

Thanks,
Ramya

Hello We bought a new computer for my granddaughter. Since non had Windows 7 on it, (which I know how to use)
We had to buy one with Windows 8. Learning to find out how to remove All the ads and non needed programs has been an ongoing challenge. Right now she only wants to go to very few sites. but Ads along with false java download keep poping up on her browser even thou I tryed hunting down anything that might call them up

She has Mccaffee virus scan and regitpro (I think its called that , she is using pc at thistime so I cant check.)

Is there a way to block a url? These popups do not show up on my computer when I go to the same page as she is on. ITs like an online ad program it adds more ads to websites you visit that are not on the actual website.

We still have tons to learn on how to tweek the pc to suit a 8 year olds habits. And make it so I can fix things when things do go wrong.

A:Hello Need help Blocking websites that keep opening

I think discussing ad blocking is agains forum rules as that is how this site is financed.

About a week ago I started having difficult opening websites...I sat here watching the aero go round and round...nada! It started right after I downloaded 17 MS updates, but when I did a system restore to before that I was still getting the ongoing aero thing.

I have disabled all my add ons, run scans, and cannot see any program that was downloaded or added about that time. Is anyone else having the same problem, and can anyone suggest a solution?

It's extremely annoying especially when everything was running smoothly a week ago....

I looked for a HOSTS file - both with and without caps, went to system 32 / etc and couldn't see it...

Can I make one?

A:Is there a way to prevent certain websites from opening?

The hosts file is in C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\etc and is a file named HOSTS with no extension. Open with notepad to edit. (Right click, select OPEN and select Notepad from the list). If you're not on XP or Vista let me know which OS you're on, older OS's have the HOSTS file in other locations.

Hello, newbie here with my 1st question. I keep getting random websites opening up while I'm online. I don't get re-directed, really, they just open up in another window. I close them and they go away. I keep AVG updated and I've updated and run SAS and MBAM. They usually find some malware and get rid of it, but I can't seem to get these websites to stop popping up. BTW, I'm not surfing porn or anything, usually just Yahoo mail or a forum or something. They don't pop up constantly, just here and there. I'm running XP and IE8. Below, I'll copy and paste a couple of the sites that do this.BTW, I didn't mean to make these hot links, it just did it automatically. I just posted the addresses so you'd know what I'm talking about....Thanks!http://newsdaily7.com/income/index2.html (This is the most frequent one)http://www.localtribune.org/Finance/Jobs/i...from=113594_ron (This one is pretty frequent too)

For some reason, i can't get on certain virus forums or websites anymore. Bl**ping computer and a couple of others. Also, i can't download any Anti-virus software direct from their websites. I have had to use CNET downloads and other routes to get hijackthis, malwarebytes, combofix, gmer, etc. Avast Anti virus DID pick up something a few days back but said it was able to cancel it out. Im thinking it didn't get everything because i did a scan with Spybot and found something and killed it(cant remember exactly what it was). Im thinking this is a rootkit virus or something that is attacking my hosts file. Or it could just be my ISP messing with me. Anyways, im going to post my Hijackthis and hopefully start the process of eliminating this virus.

I downloaded "Internet Download Manager" free and unregistered version 6.12 Build 15 (Sep/05/2012) Trial from softonic.com. I am using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9

After its downloading, while my laptop is connected to internet, an Internet Explorer Window pop up automatically and does not show up my default home page but an advertisement, even when I am not browsing internet.

When I am browsing internet through Internet Explorer, intermittently a new tab of Internet Explorer starts automatically showing some advertisement stuff.

Though from the face of it, it neither seems to be harming my computer nor showing up some porn stuff to create embarrassment, but creates a disturbance while working.

Can you please help me out of it without uninstalling the "Internet Download Manager"

or

if it is necessarily be uninstalled, please suggest me some good and free "Internet Download Manager" available without aforesaid disturbances, being present thereon.

Thanking you,
Agmeco

Hello! I am using my Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976.
I'm using Windows Home Premium 64bit version, I'm assuming it's the original? I have no idea. I'm a little lost when it comes to computers and their specs etc.

I've also had it happen doing other things but I can't recall exactly what. Sorry. ):

I've read that it has something to do with hardware not being installed correctly.. but I don't know.

Just over a week ago I started to have problems when browsing the internet. When searching using Google or Ask etc I find the websites I require but either get redirected to an incorrect page when opening the link or the website will not load. I know that the websites I am searching for work as I have opened them whilst using my work PC.

I have also been having issues with my PC opening very slowly. I uninstalled Dell Network Assist as I thought this was the problem and although this initially made a difference it's now back to loading slowly.

I have run Spybot and AVG without success.

Please can someone help as I'm not sure what to do?

Thank you
