My pc is acting a bit strange.

1. Some programs that usually work (for this example, RegCleaner) open and are clearly seen as running when looking at processes on windows task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) but do not run on my desktop and are inaccessible by me.

2. Also, some windows do not open when links are clicked (not in IE, just in other programs = A prime example of this is when right clicking on msn to view someones profile. The window doesnt open.

However these problems are only fairly recent (within the last 2months of activity). Spyware checks seem to have no problem?

Im stuck and its annoying.

Thanks for any help

A:[SOLVED] Windows 7 dont want to start

Hi, you will need to use your OS dvd and boot from it access the command prompt ( this loads the sources sudirectory (folder) of a Ram disk identified by the drive letter x: (I see you can do this) at the cmd prompt, which will read x:sources, type:-

Code:
bcdedit | find "osdevice"
(exactly as you see here, press enter) now when windows loads the RE (repair your computer) it does not always allocate the drive letter that your OS is on. It may be some other drive letter. This cmd tells us what drive is allocated to the OS, we use this letter in our cmds.

Assume C: (if not change accordingly)

Type the following cmd's, pressing enter after each line.

Code:
Bcdedit /export c:\BCD_Backup
c:
cd boot
attrib bcd ?s ?h ?r
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
BootRec /RebuildBcd
Restart computer, let us know how you get on.

TIP: print this out you will not have access once in the RE.

For a few weeks now, I have had a problem trying to open some .exe files, but when i double click them, or run as administrator nothing happens, no error reports pop up, even if i wait for a bit longer they wont open and i am wondering why this has happened because this is a fairly new laptop, not pre-owned, and its really not helping me as i need to use certain .exe files for editing software, but as i said they wont work.

see also: Default File Type Associations - Restore

All help is appreciated

A:My .exe's wont open, and i dont know why.

Hello RockStar, you tried the .exe and .lnk registry but nothing worked ? If so, I would suggest you to try

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup first, and see if it works.

If not, Try to run the desired program by double clicking it. Now open task manager , right click on the task bar and select "start task manager" from the context menu, go to the processes tab and see if that program is running or not. Most probably it is there.

If not, you may need to reinstall the program.

If yes, kill the program in task manager, try to set the windows basic theme and try to open the program again . Does it work now ?

Alright so the last few days I've had this problem where I cant open my emails. I have no idea what could have casued this. I've done every type of antivirus scan and spyware scan avalible to me. (Norton, panda, hijack this, spybot search & destroy etc...) Now first off when I try to open my emails (when I click on the actualy email link to read it) nothing happens. When I move my mouse cursor over the link I get this Java message at the bottom window (not sure if it has always been there (picture below) but thought I would ask waht that is) Second on all forums when I try to use the extra "tags" they wont show up. for example when I click a "smily" it is supposed to show up but it doesn't. the same thing happens with the "img" and "bold and "underline" tags. I have to do it manually. It's not that it's hard, it's just annoying knowing that it should work but it doesnt. The last problem I've had was when I visit www.suprnova.org I can't see any of the torrents. Now I'm not sure if some of you will be offend knowing that I like to download free music albums here and there but I thought I would ask what is going on with that also. (also a picture below)

Any ideas?

For what it's worth, It's a dual boot XP/Vista, vista being upgraded over a clone of a clone. The upgrade was smooth but took 8 hours and a few
boot.ini edits because of the xxclone boot.ini. The only other thing I can think of is that there was one encrypted file in the old c:\docs and settings and I haven't looked into changing permissions in the registry. Any ideas appreciated!

Are you able to get on the Internet?
If so, first download Unhide.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe) (by Grinler)
Once the program has been downloaded, double-click on the Unhide.exe icon on your desktop and allow the program to run. This program will remove the +H, or hidden, attribute from all the files on your hard drives. If there are any files that were purposely hidden by you, you will need to hide them again after this tool is run."

Next, download DDS from one of these links:
Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3Disable any script blocking protection
Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs: DDS.txt
Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray

Save both reports to your desktop.
Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

Hi there, I am completely new to this stuff. I don't know what the majority of what you are telling people to do means, but here goes. Last week when I went to bed one night, everything was fine. I was logged in to facebook and I believe ebay. When I got up the next morning, I had no start bar at the bottom of screen (and still don't) I have the icon for IE on my desktop but that won't open. Somehow I found "my computer" and tried to click on different programs or different favorites I normally used. I get the same thing each time, windows cannot find device.

I tried to run a scan, but no matter what I check to scan, it immediately comes back "disabled", so nothing runs.
I downloaded IE8, but that won't open either. I REALLY wanted to download photos from my camera and I can't find my Canon camera window to where it asks me what i want to do with camera. I can get on firefox for internet, but am afraid to do anything other than facebook. I don't know what to do. Someone at work told me to try starting pc in "safemode" by hitting f8 or ctrl f8, but that as with so many other things says "cannot launch application".

I just don't know what to do.

most of the games I install will open and stay on for like 3 seconds and then it goes back to the start menu, any ideas?!

A:most games open but dont play, help

Have you updated your video drivers with the REAL drivers from the manufacturers website yet?

The built in drivers on install are woefully inadequate for playing most games.

Though are you talking about like games form the app store? Or general PC games like Diablo/WoW/Skyrim etc?

I've tried to follow all of the instructions as well as possible but some things are just unavoidable... i cannot run the two free virus scans because i use dial up and it takes 5 minutes just to load a page on this website let alone download that.. also on Spybot Search and Destroy, there are 18 items in which it cannot remove. even if i run it during startup or in safe mode. everything else comes out clean, or it has a few errors but they're deleted and then do not come up again.

The problem comes when trying to open files, it's a family computer and each person had their own login, some peoples logins are perfectly fine whereas others, including mine, will not allow any system folders such as my computer, or search, or any folder to open, it also doesn't allow internet explorer to work unless i right click and do run as... and then i do not get to visit all of the websites i would like such as my mail. Another issue is that no matter where i go, my documents does not exist, like when you go to C://documentsandsettings, my file doesnt exist? Also, all except for 1 of the various logins for people, do not allow the downloading of anything such as hijackthis. The download progress window opens, but the time remaining/speed and such things is blank and the status bar does not move, it then disappears and makes a noise as if an error has occured. I hope this is enough information to go off.

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.

I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.
Permissions on the XP that is hosting the database is set to allow everyone. And all the XP machines can access it at the same time.

Any ideas what is happening?

A:Solved: Can't open a shared file on a Windows 7 machine if it's already open on an XP

Fascinating problem. I've run into an issue like this and cannot remember the solution. I think I had to move the share to the windows 7 machine with all local network authentication turned off. I think anyways. Might have lowered NTLM authentication version in policies too (again on the 7 machine). Gah.. it was awhile ago.

Going to set this up on a small VM workgroup right now and test.

Hi

I'm using windows 8 and hating every last bit about it, but the thing I'm having a problem with is, when I download a game mod file (SCS) it downloads/opens with notepad and will not stay in its original state, I never have asked it to be opened in anything such as notepad or word and the issue being that when the file is added to my particular game, it won't work, on my other pc it is downloading the SCS file and not trying to alter anything and will stay as it is when downloaded, but this pc with win 8 on it is driving me nuts!!  Just so you know, I don't edit any of these files so you can rule that out.
So what I was wanting to know is there any way I can stop this pc changing all my downloaded files and converting them to view in notepad?

Many thanks if you can shed some light on this and hope it makes sense

A:Files Download and open in word or notepad but I dont want that!

See this post. You can also download FileTypesMan. Run the program and scroll through the list for any SCS files. Then delete the association.

I'm using IE8 & windows xp.
I did load google chrome & it seems to work ok on that browser.

My nephew came to my house today asking to fix his laptop for him, but this is way above my head, there is so much wrong I dont even know where to start.

First of all dds.com does not work on his laptop, at first it didn't open so I tried with cmd.
With cmd it did work but it does not create the text files.

His complaint was that GTA wouldn't start anymore and his microsoft office wouldn't start anymore.
I started with the GTA, My guess is that it was a driver issue, the error was:
GTA cannot find audio card installed. (windows sounds do work

So I tried to download the drivers on his laptop(now he mentions IE does not start anymore) Chrome, gives a failed to download message whenever I try to download something.
I downloaded it on my computer, install didn't work.
I tried opening dxdiag, didn't work. as a sollution I found I had to use exefix.reg.
This gave an error again. To fix this I had to update my dirextX. the install does not work.

So at this point I'm scratching my eyeballs out.

If you have any idea what would cause this, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone!

So here goes another post from someone who mysteriously just showed up at your forums with this being his first contribution Anyhow, I am absolutely clueless about what to do besides wiping the system, its that annoying. The sheer multitude of problems made it impossible for me to find any useful info on the web:/ If anyone has an idea id be very thankful. Oh btw, Im a computer science major so talk nerdy to me, I think I can take it

Here goes:
Since about 2 days ago, my system (Windows Server 2008 Enterprise) comes up with all sorts of funny crashes and stutters in some games, unresponsivenes in other programs and at times downright ignores when I want to start a program. In detail:

- Firefox: Temporarily unresponsive (greyed out)
- Warcraft 3: Crashes from menu and game, seemingly at random. Cannot kill the process afterwards with task manager or process explorer, gotta reboot.
- Bioshock: Stutters and hangs as early as in the first Logo screens and videos. Stutters last for about 5-10 secs, then game commences as normal for about the same amount of time, then more stutters. I checked procexp with the game windowed and it shows that the Bioshock.exe goes from ~60% cpu usage when acting normal to 3% and lower during the stutters. No other process is using the cpu time though, it just goes up and down every few seconds, letting the idle process have its share without anything else happening. At least killing the exe works as intended.
- Other program... Read more

I have one user in my office / Windows XP Pro SP 3, Office 2003 / Recently she came in one morning to find that when she receives an XLS file via email attachment the attachment, when opened, does open the Excel program but only to a blank screen, not a blank spreadsheet, but the screen as if you first opened excel. If I forward the same email to another machine the attachment opens fine.

I have completely removed office 2003 from her machine rebooted, and then reinstalled ( I tested at this point before applying any office updates, same results) applied the office updates, same results. ) The files she receives are from Excel 2003 (not 2007) and lastly, this occurred for about a week, then she was suddenly able to open them again, then 4 days later back to not being able to. It has not been a week and this morning I did all the uninstall reinstall ect.

Any Help Appreciated, and please donít suggest I check files associations....

Frankly, it doesn't make a lot of sense - I can understand your frustration.
You might check to make sure that Tools > Options > General > Ignore other applications is not checked.
Also, what email client is your person using?

i recently got a new computer with WIN7 Home , 32 bits .

These vid formats dont work:

mkv

(one of the mkv files had the phrase "h.264-ac3" in its name, if its important for u)

ogm

rm files

flv

one vid file played with video but didn't play with sound - it was .mpg

one file didnt play well - was .mpeg , had slow downs

AND the following photos didnt open -

GIF images, and by that i mean, those gif image who "move", which are like vids but without sound and the Windows image opener thingy used to open these normally on my other computer (who had Windows XP)
Gif images open usually with the internet explorer (even though its not my default browser) and there they are "played" ok (meaning they are displayed flawlessly)

One image is catagolized by my pc as "File". meaning the part that supposed to say GIF or JPEG says "file". it is a moving image which always asks me how to be opened, NEVER allowing me to tick the "always use this software to open this type of files". it is displayed well on the Internet explorer.

Just in case i will mention that i have IE9.

so my questions are what should i download as codecs, formats, whateverr? sound codecs, and vids, how about the k-lite ? i just dont want to clug my pc with codecs. so if u know what i need to DL to make the pics work on the windowd image displayer tool thingy and make all the vids play well, i will appreciate it.

Ok I know this is in here somewhere? Backdoor.Win32.TDSS.bau Plus many other fantstic things.
It has actually moved from IE to firefox I will get new windows popping up for all kinds of sites
from antivirus to shopping.

I have ran a few separate scans from McAfee, Kaspersky etc. I have tried deleting files direct but it does not help much.
I also ran a mbam scan lots and lots of vundo crap everywhere.

Hello, over the past day and a half this problem has gotten a lot worse. Windows automatic updates cannot be turned on, this has spread to norton automatic updates as well.

recently started to get frequent stop errors having to do with ntfs.sys or srtsp.sys files.

ive also been getting adult popups in internet explorer and the computer seems to be running slower than norm.

Help would be appreciated asap as i need this comp to study for exams :S

Thank You

Hi, I am Emy from the Netherlands. Wish you all a nice day!

I have troubles with - at least - one of the computers in the little network here. I will describe some of the troubles.
-Links to internetpages on the desktop dont work. I need to paste those in a blank window.
-2 weeks ago the home internetpage was blocked. After looking in a lot of forums I found how to change the homepage to Google. (by changing the registry)
-Online scanners for spyware dont start/are interrupted or dont find anything wrong
-Windows installer is coming up after every click I make to install Symantec Antivirus. But Symantec is already installed.
-I tried programs like Ccleaner and ATF; also Combofix. The last one was also interrupted (black screen). I installed the recovery console. Dont know how to delete this console.
-Even when I dont use this computer, it is like the computer is busy - at times (sounds like when using a program busy converting media files)
-I couldnt activate my membership. Not using the first link, nor the second one. Got a message that something wrong.
-I found srchassctl in the registry. Erased the Search Assistant. After rebooting ACMRU was gone, but SrchAssCtl is here again
-I found msmsgs a lot of times on this computer. I think the problems started with a message in the Live messenger.

Now I will paste the properly files to this topic. DDS and Attach

Case in point: McAfees Stinger makes a report .opt - Windows states that in order for
Windows to open this file Windows needs to know what program made it. Isn't there
someplace in the bowels of XP that I can add that .opt and no longer have to go through
the

If I change the .opt to .txt Windows can open it in Notepad but it has some strange chicken

and that is not the point here anyway.

This one is terribly simple I know. By choosing the second option I'm able to pick from several programs.........but........

there are files that I download from the internet that once "filed away" seem to come apart at the seams and all I have
are the peices without the gluethreadscrewnail that held them together and made them so darn interesting in the first place.

I have a Dell Optiplex 330, running Windows XP, IE7. I also use AutoSizer, and had been using Norton anti-virus and security systems. All ran well.
The Norton contract ran out and I removed those programs from my computer, and have now installed ESET Smart Security.

After removing Norton, I began to experience the following problem when browsing on line: I go to my home page - no problem. I go to a new address - no problem. Both full screen and in front. However if I open a link from the new address, the new page always opens behind all of the windows that are open. If I click the link a second time, the new window will open in the front, but I then have the new link open twice, both front and back.

I've re-installed IE7. I've checked to have Autosizer bring new windows to the foreground. Disabling Autosizer helps some of the time, but only if I do it before opening IE7, then all new links open in smaller windows.

I'm suspicious that some of Norton didn't delete and maybe still in the registry. My reading suggests I've lost "focus"....

I would like to go back to using Autosizer and having my new windows open up large and in front everytime.

Windows will not open, Start Up Repair comes up, runs for a while, ask to restore to previous point, then shuts down. When I restart, same thing happens. I did a total restore. Worked fine for a few days, then began again. I was installing all the past updates for windows after the restore, but that was about all I did. Works fine for a day or two and then starts again with this problem. I did an Error checking scan and it worked fine for a couple of days. Now I am back to being afraid to turn off my computer. I did have to install a new video card a year ago but that is the only hardward I have touched on this computer. It is about 4 years old running Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing i've been doing (apart from normal browsing and gaming) is trying out different firewalls. I've had outpost, zonealarm and sygate, but have settled with zonealarm pro.

I'm using a [email protected], 1gb ram, 7600gs, ecs 661fx-m7 mobo.
I've ran nod32, ad-aware and spybot scans in the last few days and nothing has come up apart from just some cookies. Here's my hijack this log.

i am totally confused how to navigate this app. i am getting "no recorder" using RecordNow. i had a code 41 on my cd/dvd, a minus sign under device manager with a yellow exclamation point. i used "how to fix code 41 errors." i had to bump down to paragraph 3 - 'delete the upper filters and lower filler registry values' [rollback and restore no effect].i did this and it removed; the code 41, the minus sign and the yellow exclamationpoint. i am still getting NO RECORDER when i try to use RecordNow. i think a copy to a cd may have worked but i do not have a blank cd, just my backups from RecordNow. I have been using RecordNow for several years on the same computer. After i deleted those filters it restarted it self. then i tried uninstalling the cd/dvd and restart but the RecordNow still has no recorder.

i have used RecordNow for several years. i am now getting NO RECORDER when i try to use RecordNow. i had a code 41 on my cd/dvd and a minus sign and yellow exclamation point under the device manager. i used the app "how to fix code 41 errors." within that it had me delete my Upper Filters and Lower Filters registry values. this got rid of; the code 41 error, the minus sign (now a plus sign), and the yellow exclamation point. after the registry values were deleted it rebooted. the RecordNow still has NO ECORDER. i have uninstalled it and rebooted many times but the same problem persist. i have a compaq desk top (six years old), a hp printer, and i use windows xp. jimsam

hello all,

My computer is infected with trojans, adwares and spywares ( I think?) desktop has changed into red with "your privacy is in danger" , "download privacy protection software now" messages
annoying pop -ups for "ultimate defender" also installed on programs which I cant uninstall it
computer crashes or freezes
asking me to install AVSystemCare to scan the PC,
alerting for detected Trojan.W32.LookSky

Today, I have scaned the computer many times using Anti-Spyware3.0 and McaFee AntiSpyware removed all infected entries but it didnt do a thing!

A:Solved: dont no what to do

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I am a novice tech support personnal, but ive come to a stand still with a problem. On my own computer i evaluate and test many programs to refer them to my clients and to see how well they work. Well, i tried to install a program by the name of zone alarm (a firewall program). As it was installing its drivers into the regestry, my computer froze, and the program did not finish installing. Not answering to any of my commands, i shut it down and booted it in safe mode thinking i might have gotten a virus. I scanned with norton first, then mal-ware bytes, and then security esstentials. None came up with any intrusion or proble, i ran the microsoft troubleshooting program, and cleared the my cache and cleaned up my regestry as well as removing the left over files from the mis-installed zone alarme, these included the regestry keys (the drivers), and the programs in the program files folder (i went into the program uninstall from the control panel, but zone alarm did not show up). So i restarted my computer and booted it normally, i logged on and everything seemed to boot okay, but after a minute or so it froze, so i did the same process all over again and this time defraged the computer and cleaned every temp file folder. Ive done this a couple times already and the result is the same. Please Help!!

A:Solved: i dont know what to believe: GPU

63C for gpu is normal though i know there are a few utils out there that report incorect temps. 65C is a normal temp for these units under low load. 90C is absolute tops under full load. Anything over 90C is a room to worry. You dont need to monitor your temps unless your overclocking. Just clean the heatsink after every 500 hours of use on time.

Hi I think this is the right place. Might be nothing but specs first,
OS..WIN XP HOME SP3
IE8 (default browser)
What happens , well when I post a thread I then go read some other threads or do other stuff while waiting for a reply. Then I go back to my post and see
that there is a couple of replies so I click on the last post, and up comes my thread , so far so good , last post was about 40 min ago,but no reply and
I cant scroll down to bottom of page , when I do it flicks back up to top and
I get as far as I can see 3 quickly changing notifications in the task bar.
Somthing like: " Done ", " Waiting for http:/ bla,bla,bla " , Error on page ".
Also the back button wont work. The only way I can get out is to click on home page and everthing is back to normal again. Is it a server glitch on your end or aliens or somthing? Maybe I just dont wait long enough for the replies to be posted! Maybe I just like to type Think I will just go to bed.
Bye Nigel........

A:[SOLVED] umm! dont know ?

On my laptop (Vista HP SP1), I can't open .exe files.

Every time I try, Windows pops up the dialog asking me which program I want to use to open the .exe file.

I've down a virus scan (clear) and I tried this fix:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com...i/thread/b2234808-3c59-4238-93ca-e00b77a2af7c

But I didn't have the faulty registry key anyway.

I downloaded Vista SP2 in the hope that it would fix any system errors, but I can't run the executable!

Try unzipping and merging the reg file in this archive: Exe Fix.

From what I can tell, some sort of weird security messure is in place. Whenever I try to open any programs the computer simply does not respond. When I right click on links/programs I have the option "Run As"

Clicking that brings the attached dialog up.

If I unclick "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" I can run the program.

Someone please tell me how to turn this #### thing off!!

Hi All

I cannot open any URL links in windows mail. My operating system is Vista Home Edition. Default mail account is Windows Mail. Browser is IE7.

Every time I try to open any URL link in windows live mail I get this message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Assosiations control panel." I had exactly the same problem using Windows Mail so I upgraded to Windows Live Mail.

I have tried going to control panel - programs - default programs - set default programs. but internet explorer is not in my default programs list.

I have tried going to control panel - internet options - programs - set IE7 as default browser and press ok but every time I return IE7 is not my default browser. I am not aware of any other browsers on my system.

I have MS Office 2007. I previously had it installed on my XP PC. I now have it on Windows 7 64 bit. It seems to only recognize xls files. I have had to open EXCEL and from file open the xlr file, because if I try to open the file from the folder it is not recognized. My question is, after I finally get it opened, what format do I save it in so that it will open when the file is clicked on. I have numerous xlr files and I would like to convert them as easy as I can.
I miss my XP so much!!!!!

I downloaded an offline class that contains numerous folders. Each folder represent once class topic and the folder contains files that are relevant to the particular lesson.

All is going well except that I can't open one folder. When I double-click it, nothing happens. When I right click the folder, a menu appears that contains choices, but is missing a lot of the choices available with most folders.

The choices I see are Open, Explore, Lock This Folder, Add to VLC Media Player's Playlist, Search...., Open Notebook in OneNote, Play With VLC media Player, Save Desktop Icon Layout and Restore Desktop Icon Layout. The menu does NOT contain many choices that most other folders show when you right click them like Cut, Copy, Create Shortcut, Delete, Rename or Priorities. The only other unique characteristic of this folder is that it's name is one of the longest names I've ever seen on a Folder.

I want to open the file to view it's contents (I'm expecting either individual files or a zip file) but I can't do so. Nothing happens when I click on the above options. Do you know how I can "force" this file to open? If it's corrupted and will not open, I'd delete it because when I copy my folders and files, I receive an error message because I can't copy the folder, either.

When I try to Delete it, I can't do that either. Nothing happens when I highlight the folder and press the Delete key on my keyboard.

Do you have any ideas how I can

I put the following thread in the Web & E-mail forum, but it's getting no responses, so thinking it may actually be a Windows XP problem, I'm putting it here, also.

MSN Explorer misbehaving
Have a friend who insists on using MSN Explorer for his e-mail front end. Last week, out of the blue, whenever he clicks Reply or Forward on an e-mail, the message into which he's supposed to type his reply or the forwarding addresses ALWAYS MINIMIZES. Only way to see it is to MAXIMIZE the taskbar icon. BTW, when you right-click the minimized icon on the taskbar, Restore is dimmed/not selectable. . . which is also odd. I can find no setting that says anything like "Open replys/forwards minimized".

Anyone know what triggered that bizarre change and how to fix it? He's running Win XP SP2.

Is this something that can be fixed with a taskbar or Windows setting?
