Q: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware error

I keep getting this error message when I use mbam.
I've already tried reintalling this application, but it didn't work.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Four times today, I've seen this message pop up at the bottom of my screen, from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Malicious Website Protection, IP, 72.21.91.29, 57216, Outbound, C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

I've just run a complete Malwarebytes scan; I'm up to date, and it reported no errors.

AVG 2015 has done a complete scan; it's also up to date and it also reported no errors.

Spyware Blaster reports it's running correctly and I'm being protected, from its point of view.

As far as I recall, I'm using whatever firewall comes with Win 8.1. I know I have never installed anything else.

In general, I'm running a Dell desktop, Win 8.1/64 bit, latest edition of the above security software; Firefox v43.0.4, which it says is up to date.

I'm a complete newbie. I have no idea what the Malwarebytes message means, or who to ask. I did send them a message like this one, but it's too soon for a reply, so I'm double-dipping by asking here also.

Thx in advance.

Tom

A:Pls decipher this error msg from Malwarebytes Anti Malware

It's a false positive and it's been resolved.

Update your MalwareBytes and it should no longer be detected.

Based on your opinions and reasoning which is the better product.
I will still be using both products regardless of the votes.

A:Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x vs Zemana Anti-Malware 2.x (Premium only)

This is difficult. I use both as on-demand scanners. I've been using Malwarebytes for years and it's saved my butt on numerous occasions. For that simple fact alone, I'm going with Malwarebytes, but do not shy away from Zemana (in fairness to Zemana, it's a fairly new program). If anything I'd say Zemana AntiMalware feels a bit lighter, but that's really the only fault I can provide. I'll be interested to see what others think.

Should I install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware beside Emsisoft Anti-Malware for extra protection? Will it slow down my computer?

Please say which you would choose and why?

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (Premium) (Great enhanced exploit protection) and Zemana Anti-Malware Premium (Ransomeware, malware protection) vs HitmanPro.Alert (Exploit, Ransomeware Protection + great scanning capabilities)

So, I've been talking to my father, and fed slightly by paranoia, I've come to the conclusion that I want to secure our computers and network as much as possible. I honestly love Malwarebytes. They offer good software, and their prices are very attractive.

As the title suggests, I'm curious what other people's experience is with these two programs. I already have some experience with MBAM Premium from the past, and I have to say I'm pleased. Does Anti Exploit work as good as it is said to be?

Please note that I don't really care about "needing it" or not. I just want to know if it does a good job at what it's supposed to do, just like MBAM. If it does, then I'm buying it. Any layer of defense I can get, I'll grab.

A:Malwarebytes Anti Malware + Anti Exploit Premium worth it?

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE), formerly ExploitShield by ZeroVulnerabilityLabs, is a security program that runs in the background as a standard Windows Service and protects against zero-day exploits that target browser and application vulnerabilities, blocks exploit kits and defends against drive-by download attacks.Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit provides three layers of exploit protection (against Operating System security bypasses, memory caller protection, application behavior protection). MBAE continuously monitors popular applications, preventing vulnerabilities in software and browsers from being exploited, blocks unknown and known exploit kits, proactively preventing the exploit from installing its payload before it can do damage. This means that it will protect against code execution that uses a certain vulnerability in an application. MBAE leaves a small footprint...meaning it is not intrusive, does not utilize a lot of system resources and does not use a signature database so there is no need for constant updating.Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit includes a 14-day trial mode for the Premium version which you can enable during installation by checking the box when prompted. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium includes additional protecton (Shields) for PDF readers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Media players and allows the ability to add/manage custom shields. The Premium version requires a registration ID and purchase of a license key after the trial period expir... Read more

Which one is better for protection? Are there key difference between the two? We have some users who only seem to be having issues while browsing and generally clearing out everything in terms of cookies and history has been fixing this issue. So in that case, would Anti-Exploit be better?

Like I said, are there key differences between the two programs? We also have Kaspersky running so we need something that can run side-by-side with that.

A:Emsisoft Anti-Malware or Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit?

They are entirely two different programs.Emsisoft Anti-Malware (EAM) is an antivirus platform that includes anti-malware protection which uses two scanning engines and three security levels (or layers) of protection to prevent the installation of malware and stop malicious processes before they can infect your computer. EAM uses advanced behavior blocking analysis which is extremely difficult to penetrate...it continually monitors the behavior of all active programs looking for any anomalies that may be indicative of malicious activity and raises an alert as soon as something suspicious occurs. Emsisoft’s Behavior Blocker is able to detect unknown zero-day attacks and file-encrypting malware (ransomware) attacks. Emsisoft also has the added advantage of blocking the installation of most Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) (such as adware, spyware, unwanted toolbars, browser hijackers) if you enable that feature.Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE) is an action level security application (behavior based) that runs in the background as a standard Windows Service and protects against, the malicious action of exploiting software vulnerabilities, blocks zero-day exploits that target browser and application vulnerabilities, blocks exploit kits and defends against drive-by download attacks. MBAE provides four layers of exploit protection to include application hardening, protection against Operating System security bypasses, memory caller protection, and application behavior prot... Hi all,My dad has asked me to take a look at his computer after it's been acting odd, and it looks like he's got a doozy of something running on the system. He's been getting some pop ups advertising various programs, the desktop is changed to text reading "Your system is infected! System has been stopped due to a serious malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected" (which is not something any program that should be running would display", Task Manager is blocked from opening and a fake piece of anti-spyware has taken up residence (don't have the name off hand).Looking at the log, I found a couple of things that I'm not a fan of - batmeter16.dll, for starters. There's a couple others I don't recognize, but I am not sure if they are bad or not.Unfortunately, my attempts to fix it have been thwarted - an AVG scan said it cleared it up, but more pop ups came. I tried to run Malware Bytes, but when I download the latest update through the program, I get a nice warning message saying "The database you are using is not supported by this version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Download the latest version of the program."Additionally, this came about because I tried to start into Safe Mode to get this cleaned up. I couldn't get my keyboard to register keystrokes before Windows started, which kept me from accessing the dialogue allowing Safe Mode to be entered, so I modified boot.ini to force a safe mode boot. Unfortunately, this brought about a blue sc... Read more

Hi. There is something going on with my computer, can't get on internet and many pop up messages, and I have tried to run MBAm. A:Malwarebytes Anti-Malware unable to remove selected malware

I would try logging in to safemode with networking and then run the scanfrom there. To log in to safemode gently tap the F8 key as the computer reboots and then select safemode with networking from the list. If you are able to run the scan in safemode then there's probably some infection that was preventing it from runnig in the regular Windows mode. If not then there may be a problem with the Malwarebytes. I have had a similar problem and I had to un-install it and then re-install it. I emailed their tech support and was told it was possibly a conflict between it and AVG free though I'd never had that problem before... EVER.

I suspected it was something buggy with the update that had come through.

Is it okay to run malwarebytes anti malware trial version, real time protection alongside an existing anti virus ?

Would they conflict?
I have MBAM free version but there is an option to use the trial pro version which is real time protection. I am just wondernig if real time protection would oonflict with my microsoft security essentials anti virus ?

Try renaming mbam.exe to something else, such as mabm.exe (mbam backwards) but make sure to rename it back before you restart your computer, it needs the correct name to run when you restart your computer to complete removal.

Hello MaaD,I guess the reason your trying to download MBAM is because you believe your computer is infected with Malware or worse? If so, you may want to ask a site Moderator to move your post into our Security Forum. Once there our Security Team can assist you in cleaning up your system. However, if you want to try to download MBAM, here's how to do it.Boot up in Safemode and try installing it, then run malwarebytes while in safe mode.If the scan results are numerous, right click on the MBAM screen and select all threats for removal.Turn on the computer, at the BIOS screen start tapping the (F8)key slowly. Advanced Options Menu will appear. Select Safemode with networking. This will allows you to use the internet.Go here to download MBAM: http://www.malwarebytes.org/Hope this helps,John

I was following the instructions on this page:

I got to step 5 and downloaded the Anti-Malware program. But when I try to open it I get this popup message:

"Application cannot be executed. The file mbam.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

This is the same message I get when I try to Run something or open something in the Control Panel. Is there some way to get past this?

A:Can't Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Try these directions and see if you get any better results. First, Download rkill to your desktop. Double-click on the rkill.com in order to automatically attempt to stop any processes associated with Rogue programs. Please be patient while the program looks for various malware programs and ends them. When it has finished, the black window will automatically close and you can continue with the next step. If you get a message that rkill is an infection, do not be concerned. This message is just a fake warning given by these Rogue programs when it terminates programs that may potentially remove it. If you run into these infections warnings that close Rkill, a trick is to leave the warning on the screen and then run Rkill again. By not closing the warning, this typically will allow you to bypass the malware trying to protect itself so that rkill can terminate these Rogue Programs. So, please try running Rkill until malware is no longer running. You will then be able to proceed with the rest of the instructions.Scan for Spyware/AdwareThe process of cleaning your computer may require you to temporarily disable some security programs. Hello tech guys. It has been a while since I was last here. I need an answer to an important question due to my inability to pay for security to my computer. I downloaded free Malwarebytes - anti malware software thinking it was free. I did this about 10 days ago. I got a notice on my screen informing me that my "Malwarebytes - anti malware" trial would expire in 5 days. So my question is this: Is there such a thing as free Malwarebytes - anti malware software. I downloaded this software due to some of the problems associated with malware, and found I had 4 infections and had them removed using this download. Now I have become accustomed to doing free scans but fear of losing this support. Please let me know if you need further information. I will add my apology for posting this without having an actual computer problem, only a question to avoid such a problem.

Today when I started up my computer, a few things were going wrong. the desktop was acting strange, not responding, going purple and such. Google chrome wouldn't open, the task manager and file explorer wouldn't respond. That subsided a few minutes later, but I later realized that Malwarebytes wouldn't run, whether or not if I ran it as administrator or used chameleon. My other antivirus programs, Trend Micro Titanium and Avast work completely fine, but they didn't detect anything malicious, although when I scanned with RogueKiller, it detected something in processes.

Status: Error[12]
type: ZeroAccess
PID: 2612
name: coreServiceShell.exe

Also there were a few things in the registry, but I think they've been deleted.
adwcleaner presumably detected the same entries in the registry, but they do appear to have been deleted.

This has had me on edge all day, and If anyone can tell me what this is, it would be greatly appreciated.

-EDIT  (this post is being constantly updated if anything happens)
What was happening on startup may have been caused by trying to restore to a previous system restore point. And I should probably mention trying to do a system restore failed for some reason, so I tried it multiple times, to no avail. Don't know why it didn't work though.
Also I think I recall Malwarebytes may have been working when I started the computer, but I restarted it a couple times and it wouldn't work after that.
I've also run rkill.exe, but ... Read more

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum but I have a quick question.

I keep getting this warning, sometimes almost every minute that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware "has successfully blocked access to malicious IP: 67.215.242.138 or 67.215.242.139.

I noticed I had this issue on a laptop that had recently been infected but my desktop system, in which I am experiencing this, shows no symptoms of infection, or so I can tell anyway. A WHOIS lookup claims the IP is from the US, and that the host of the ip is DHT01.UTORRENT.COM.

Again, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I'm a bit concerned. At least MBAM seems to be doing it's job, but I want this "attempt" to stop all together.

Hello,

I have downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it would not run. I then renamed the file, and it installed successfully, it gives the options to check for updates and start program, but the program interface will not show. I can see the program in the processes in task manager. Spybot S&D will not show user interface either. Also, I cannot get to windows update site, web browser will be redirected every time.

I need this system working properly, as it has simply accounting on here.

A few weeks ago, I posted a thread asking why I couldn't run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware. It was hypothesized that my system was infected, and when my HijackThis log was examined, it turned out that I was, and very badly. So badly that the best solution was for me to reformat my hard drive, which I did.

Because of various problems related and unrelated to reformatting, I had to take my computer to the repair shop. Since I was unable to copy SpySweeper over to my new OS, the guys at the shop installed AVG Free 9.0 on my computer for me. Unfortunately, AVG 9.0 has been unable to install any updates, and I've been trying multiple solutions to fix this problem. I finally decided to run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware just to make sure my system was clean...and it wouldn't run. More specifically, it stayed on the screen a few seconds after I double-clicked the icon, then vanished.

This isn't the only problem I've encountered since my computer was fixed, just the latest and most troubling one. I don't know what's going on this time, but I hope it isn't anything as serious as last time. My HijackThis log is below.

I could not get to Malwarebytes' website because of this infection, so I downloaded Anti-Malware using another computer and installed on the one that has been infected. I was able to install it but it won't let me execute.

What do I do here? I have a feeling that if I reboot the system now, something is going to go bad.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and not the most technically minded computer user in the world. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and use Vipre and Malwarebytes as my anti-virus and anti-malware software. I've started (as of today) getting very annoying pop-ups from MBAM saying that it "successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website".

I ran Vipre and it quarantined several items: Win32.Generic!BT, Win32.Sirefef.ag (v), Win32.Sirefef (fs), and Win32.Zaccess.ca(v). I opted to delete all of them. I've run MBAM again and it did not show anything. However, the annoying pop-ups keep happening every minute or so.

Is there a way for me to stop this behavior? Can someone please speak to me without too much technical jargon (my aged brain begins to melt down with terminology with which I'm not familiar).

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

I had the Anti-Malware Doctor virus and could not download and anti virus programs because it was blocking them from being downloaded. I tried changing the name and downloading it from another computer using a thumb drive but each time it tried to install it was denied access by the virus. I finally installed Avast and it somehow was able to download and Run. I did a scan and removed over 100 threats. After this I was finally able to get the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program loaded. Before running this, however I ran the rkill scan plus a TDSSKiller scan. After all of this I finally ran a complete Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan in safe Mode. Then I ran it again in regular mode. This seemed to remove the virus but now I cannot use Internet Explorer? Its tells me that "IE cannot display the webpage". I think it must have removed one of the vital registry keys in IE or something. Please Advise.

I am overjoyed to announce the launch of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0. I know you?ve been waiting a very long time for this and so have we!

This is the biggest rewrite we have ever undertaken and we hope you?re thrilled with the result.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 ships with a completely redesigned user interface to make the product easier to use, more informative, and to provide quicker access to key functionality.
We have also built in and improved our Anti-Rootkit and Chameleon self-protection technologies, which have been in beta for the past year. Additionally, we?ve rewritten Malicious Website Blocking and improved native x64 support.

Most importantly, our detection and removal engine was significantly improved under the hood and kicks even more malware butt!

Finally, we?ve renamed the PRO version to Premium to avoid confusion for home users.

With the launch of 2.0, we?ll also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year. As more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, QA department and more have grown immensely.

Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fighting malware.

A:PUP issues: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

A PUP detection means a "Potentially Unwanted Program". PUP is a very broad threat category which can encompass any number of different programs to include those which are benign as well as malicious. PUPs in and of themselves are not always bad...many are generally known, non-malicious but unwanted software. PUPs are considered unwanted because they can cause undesirable system performance or other problems and are sometimes installed without the user's consent since they are often included when downloading legitimate programs. In the past, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detected only PUPs that were considered mostly harmful and deceiving but they revised their policy, taking a more aggressive approach to include PUPs that most users found annoying or misleading. PUPs may be defined somewhat differently by various security vendors. This is what Malwarebytes has to say: What are the 'PUP' detections, are they threats and should they be deleted?.If you recognize the PUP detection(s) as belonging to a program you installed and/or want to keep, you can add those items to the exclusion or ignore list (by right-clicking) so they will not show in future scans. If you don't recognize the detection(s), then you can remove them. AxCrypt is an encryption program which integrates with Windows context menu whereby a user can right-click on an item they want to encrypt.OpenCandy is an advertising application distributed by the OpenCandy Software Network which displays ads in other programs... The program runs fine on my PC, but won't run on my friend's PC.So far, I have:1) Downloaded and installed the Microsoft Visual Basic 6 runtime files, but this did not help.2) Replaced the REGSVR32.EXE file with a copy from another PC, but this did not help.Below is the logfile from Hijackthis:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 6:14:26 PM, on 7/30/2009Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16850)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ACS.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exeC:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exeC:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\ConfigFree\CFSvcs.exeC:... My home computer is infected with Windows Security Suite, so I downloaded Malwarebytes anti-malware , followed the directions I printed off, to jsut after the scan was completed, then it asks me to register it and pay $39.95 for 3 months. No where in the directions does it say anything about cost.
Given that I have a virus, I am most relutant to enter in any credit card info, so what do I do now?

thanks for the help.

A:Malwarebytes' anti-malware problem

Hi,

Malwarebytes does not ask for money to remove the found threats and the database of threats is the same for the free and the paid version. The paid version only adds things like a guard and an automatic update.
The paid version should also be a one time payment and not a license for 3 month.

If the program you have is asking you to pay for removal it is likely, that you installed something that is only pretending to be Malwarebytes. I would highly advise not to enter your personal information.

May I ask where you downloaded the program?

regards _temp_

We?re very excited to announce that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.4 officially launched today!

This release consists a number of user interface enhancements, most notably a completely updated design.

You may download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.4 by clicking here.

The new version is available for new downloads only at this time. We won?t be enabling updates for current customers until early next week (just in an effort to stagger the release). If you?re a current user and you want the update early, you?re always welcome to download and install the new version over any older version you?re running now.

We hope you find the new design intuitive and problem-free, but if you have any issues please let us know. You can always report problems in ourHelp forum or you can visit our Support portal where you?ll find our Knowledge Base and user guides, and where you can contact our Support team directly.

Here's the full list of changes in this release:

Improvements:
Brand new UI design! Much cleaner look with a toned-down color scheme.
Improved scan flow ? all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates so you're always scanning with the latest protection. (Exception: this will not occur with Scheduled Scans if you have the option to ?check for updates before scanning? disabled.)
Simplified Quarantine flow ? threats detected are pre-selected for removal and users are presented with a single ?Remove Selected? ... Read more

Issues Fixed:

· Fixed crash during Heuristic Analysis phase when scanning

· Fixed SDK database load errors by making a change to temporarily ignore the ?Check for updates before scanning? setting for Scheduled Scans

· Fixed crash when editing or removing an Access Policy if the name and description fields in the policy were different

· Fixed issue where the ?Restart computer when required for threat removal? setting did not appear correctly on Add or Edit Schedule dialogs

· Updated end user license agreement
Known Issues:

· The fix for the SDK database load error issue referenced above is not a permanent fix, but rather a work-around as we continue to investigated these errors. As soon as we have a more permanent solution we plan to roll back the work-around and again honor the ?Check for updates before scanning? setting. We should hopefully have this ready for our next release, which will be coming soon.

· If you continue to see these errors after installing 2.1.6, then please reduce the overall number of scheduled scans and updates you have set up. If you stick with the default daily Threat Scan and one scheduled Update Check every couple hours, then you should be fine.

It is which one are you going to use religiously. None will catch all the malware, and your best defense is your mouse finger.

Some BSOD much more than others. Some are much more difficult to remove or configure.

I use different AV's on different machines for different reasons.

Malwarebytes has a few pluses. It can often be downloaded and run when a machine is already infected

Mse is a good lightweight AV that uses few system resources and rarely BSOD's. I use it on one resource limited machine with few problems.

NOD32 (or ESS 4.2 with the firewall) has a few false positives but is generally good all around. I use it on two machines

AVG is decent but occasionally Bsod's. I use it on one machine with no problems.

I wouldnt use Symantec, Kaspersky, Macaffee, Avast.
Your call. If you tell us how you want to use it, and for what we can be much more help

We?ve just started rolling out a new patch update for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, v.2.1.8.1057, through the standard Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program update service.

This update is being sent out slowly to start so only a small number of users will receive it today. But we hope to ramp up quickly over the next week or so. We haven?t posted any information on our website yet about this release, but that will come as soon as the update has been made more widely available.

This release is limited to users updating from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.4 or greater to start, so we don?t have a direct download link to share right now. I will update this topic with a way to access the full download once we?re ready to do so.

Here's what?s new in v.2.1.8:

Improvements:

License key is now displayed on the My Account screen
Remaining subscription duration now displayed on My Account screen
Implemented other licensing improvements to clarify license status
Enhanced protection capabilities of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Web Protection
Numerous enhancements to prepare for full compatibility with Windows 10
Enhanced Malwarebytes Chameleon's ability to fully restore Malwarebytes functionality when affected by a malware infection

Hi, i am new to using Malwarebyes anti malware. I recently did a full drive scan of drive C, and a it found a few hundred things and most of them it couldn't remove without a reboot.

so it reboots and i'm surprised to see chkdsk running on reboot. is this normal? does malwarebytes use this to remove those files? or did something else happen to cause this?

after this was done and i got back onto the desktop, i did another scan to make sure it really did get rid of everything and it seems that it did. it did not find anything at all on the second scan.

i just wanted to confirm if this was normal behavior because it kinds scared me. i normally only see chkdsk run on it's own after something bad happend. i wasn't able to read it all cause it went so fast but it seemed to be repairing a lot of things and deleting things....

it was hard to tell.

any info on this is greatly appreciated. thoughts, ideas, (maybe something similar happend to other people) anything at all to help me understand this would be great. thx a lot.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.x Release Candidate 3 is now available: v. 2.1.4.1018

Those who are using earlier beta or RC versions should see an update notice soon. These updates will again be staggered, but on a quicker basis than previous beta refreshes.

If you prefer, you may download the full installer directly from this link.

This version is a fairly minor refresh: the only changes were some edits to some of the strings for some of our translations.

Hi,

This is my first post. Thank you in advance if someone can help.

To be brief. My website was infected, and search engines were not allowing access. So I copied all of the files to my computer. I then performed a scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Superantispyware. There was tons of adware and one trojan, but none of which originated from the copied website folder.

Therefore I want to try Combofix. May I run a scan and post the log here?

Thank you

Hello, did you get an error message?-- Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If that's the case, use Malwarebytes Chameleon and follow the onscreen instructions. The Chameleon folder can be accessed by opening the program folder for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (normally C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware).Please download Rkill by Grinler and save it to your desktop.Link 1Link 2Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.If using Vista, right-click on it and Run As Administrator.A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.If it does not work, repeat the process and attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs.If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

Hello everyone--

We?re very excited to announce the first public beta for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1!

This release consists primarily of a number of user interface enhancements, so we?re anxious to get this build in your hands to see what you think.

We want to hear your feedback?good and bad. Simply create a new topic in this forum to post your feedback.

Please note that this this is NOT a final Release Candidate ? this is the first beta and we definitely plan to continue addressing issues throughout the upcoming beta period.
What?s new:
Brand new UI design! Much cleaner look with a toned-down color scheme.
Improved scan flow ? all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates so you're always scanning with the latest protection. (Exception: this will not occur if you have the option to ?check for updates before scanning? disabled.)
You?ll automatically be prompted to download new program updates for the beta whenever they?re available. You can check back to this thread for details on the latest changes included in the new versions.
Simplified Quarantine flow ? threats detected are pre-selected for removal and users are presented with a single ?Remove Selected? button. Clicking ?Remove Selected? quarantines all checked items. If you uncheck any threats you will see a new dialog asking what action should be taken on the unselected items: Ignore Once, Ignore Always, Cancel.

A friend dropped off his computer to me because they can not do anything on it. No matter what you try, you do not have access or the file can not be found.

I ran AVG antivirus in safe mode but we still have a problem. I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and installed it. When I try to run it, it starts, then exits and can not be run again.

Any help with this problem? Let me know what other info you might need.

Thanks,
Jeff

We now have a new RC available, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.3.1017.

The update is being sent out more quickly to users this time around, but you may still see a short delay in receiving the notification.

Changes from 2.1.2.1016:

Fixed more resizing issues when switching languages. Please note that Russian is still a work in progress, so that's the only language that is much wider than it should be for now.
We reduced the size of the Add Schedule and Edit Schedule dialogs...for those who had trouble viewing the entire dialog these should at least now be more easily re-positioned.

It seems like Malwarebytes is going downhill with detections. Why are they starting, to slip away? Their technology lets face it is far behind now. Malwarebytes only works with heuristics and signatures while most products are in the cloud now. I have been testing Malwarebytes against malware it's not what it use to be back in the day.

I have used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware alot so I am an experienced user. A long time ago after updating from 1.29 to 1.30 (I think). I recieved an error and I went crazy. After that I have been ditching Malwarebytes (well only on my computer) for a while now. Today, I thought about it and tried again and still get an error. Here's what it says:

Run-time error '339':
Component 'vbalsgrid6.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing is invalid.

I have tried many fixes like 'updateMBperms.bat' and registering the file manually but it doesn't work!

It does actually get through the installation but it still doesn't run and says the same message again.

I am 100% sure my computer is virus free because I do regular scans with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and mantain my computer's health with TuneUp Utilities 2009.

I have used MBAM for a long time. When going to use it 2 days ago, I got an update signal, just like many other times.
On clicking YES, the update was actually a new version as per the title, not just the routine update.

I downloaded from the MBAM site and MajorGeeks, but still no joy.

It will not load. All I get is an error panel saying that there is a problem with MBAM and to send an error report to Microsoft, which I did not do.

I had this new version in and out 4 times, even using Safe Mode, but still MBAM will not load. At present I have uninstalled every bit of it, including that folder lurking in Program Files. ZA and AVG are not to blame, since in Safe Mode they are not active.

Never has this problem before. Does anybody know what is happening ?

I use Windows 2002 XP Home with SP3.

As there have been around 100 views but no replies, I browsed the web and ended up with a whole mass of complaints that MBAM does not work from many users, so a am not alone.

This problem is rife on the MBAM Forum and the proposed solutions are so voluminous, complex and for a tiny program like MBAM - laughable. It has to be seen to be believed. If curing this problem comprises an output only surpassed by the troubleshooting manual for the Space Shuttle, then find another AM program.

Some little anonymous guy popped up in the midst of all this tidal wave of Geekology with this simple solution and it worked for me. It involves using the MBAM uninstall cleanup program ====>

Follow these steps to ensure the best results when using the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Cleanup Utility:
Uninstall the MBAM software normally from the Control Panel.
Restart your computer;
Download the MBAM cleanup utility from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe
Run the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Cleanup Utility
Restart your computer
Download the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Reinstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Run/install MBAM>update>open>and use.
I did all this and MBAM opened perfectly with no problems. I did a scan, closed MBAM and tucked the icon back into place on my desktop.

Problem solved without wrecking my PC and my brain by trying any of the infinitely complex gobble-de-gook listed on the MBAM Forum.

Hi All

The problem is with my daughters computer. She said it is running slow and takes forever to load web pages. I tried to run her anti virus and anti spyware programs to see if that would help.

First I ran SuperAntiSpyware. I updated the definitions and ran a quick scan. It found and removed 555 issues. The log consists of 42 registry threats and 513 file threats detected. The main items are PUP.StartNow Tool Bar (69 items); PUP.FunmoodsToolbar (23 items) and the rest were adware tracking cookies. I can post the log if you want but it is quite long.

Next I tried to run Avast. It wouldn't load or start or whatever you call it. Then I tried Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I was able to update and start a quick scan. It would run for about a minute. It found 2 items. Then the computer would freeze up. I wasn't able to view what it found. I had to kill the power and restart the computer.

I restarted in Safe Mode and tried Malwarebytes again. It would run for a minute or two. Find two items and them freeze up. Power off and restart in Safe Mode. I tried running Avast it completed 76% of the quick scam. Found one item and then the computer froze up again.

I was unable to download CCleaner. There are no system restore points set on the computer.

Where do I go from here? The computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows 7
