Thunderbird stopped working after installing Windows Live Mail

Q: Thunderbird stopped working after installing Windows Live Mail

I'm using Windows 7 x64, Thunderbird 2.0.0.23.

I've long used Thunderbird without too many problems; then I installed Windows Live Mail (because I can search it using Windows Search).

Now, whenever I start Thunderbird, I get an error message about how it "Could not connect to the mail server imap.aol.com. Connection was refused." This happens even when Windows Live Mail is NOT running.

Windows Live Mail seems to work correctily. T-Bird is still set as my default mail reader.

A: Thunderbird stopped working after installing Windows Live Mail

SOLVED. There was a problem with the firewall. I removed the Thunderbird rule, let the firewall re-discover it, and now it's okay.

Windows Live Mail did not shutdown correctly - How do I resolve?

A:Windows Mail Live stopped working

Hello Rchalkfpl,

To help prevent this from happening, be sure to close Windows Live Mail (WLM) before shutting down, turrning off, or putting to sleep the computer.

If that's a message you are seeing in the message preview window in WLM, then you should have a link to click on to still see the message.

If not, then could you give more details on this?

Try repairing your mail. Go to programmes and features select windows live essentials and a window will appear with the option to repair or uninstall. Always a good idea to back up your mail, contacts and account to an external drive just in case it goes wrong, though I haven't heard of that happening it's always better to be safe and not risk losing anything.

After Much experimenting I finally got WLM 2009 working Slowly again (I like WLM2009's GUI Much better, and downloaded it from FileHippo.com/temp disable your AV for All install/uninstalls)......

There isn't a bug, WLM is just VERY slow bloatware &...

After trying Auslogics/Puran I find that free Defraggler is the best defrag for system performance (replace windows defrag on install, and be sure to temp disable your AV during installation/defrag or it won't allow Hosts file changes...!).

There are 2 things you need to pre-do Before opening WLM (I have a pretty fast i7-2600 computer Win 7 Pro 32/4gig memory, with a 10k rpm WD Raptor sata6 HD so you may have to adjust your wait times accordingly.....?)-

1. Temp disable your AV's webguard (wait 1min).
2. If your browser is open, minimize it for 1min (I set IE to default, but browse with latest FF).
You will need a timer/second clock..., and if WLM stops working wait 2min to close or it will be corrupted (watch your HD light, WLM is still closing in background & I wait 5min before re-opening WLM).

1. Open WLM & let it load for 3min before doing Anything.
2. Now for the 30sec rule before final clicking ALL!- Pre-Put your cursor on what you want to click & Always wait 30sec after the bubble closes BEFORE/After clicking ANYTHING!
3. Go to Tools/Options/... & disable Send messages immediately (messages take 1min+ to final queue).
4. NEVER delete A message after viewing!- Close & wait ... Read more

You could try a repair of WLM. Go to Programs and Features, highlight "Windows Live Essentials", click on change/uninstall at the top, and choose repair in the next window. All installed parts of WLE will be repaired, including Mail.

Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail?
Which is better?
What is your opinion and why?

A:Thunderbird vs. Windows Live Mail

I switched from Thunderbird to Windows Live Mail because I could sync a calendar and contacts with it across three separate computers. Each of my three have a shortcut on the desktop for Windows Live Mail, so wherever I am, I can quickly access all of them. Thunderbird doesn't have this option, and I didn't want to run it from a flash drive, because I might not always have them with me.

If it is a single computer you'd be installing this on, there's no better or worse...it is just up to your personal preference.

Three times in the last 24 hours this warning has opened on my Desktop, after I have just closed Windows Live Mail [WLM] . After the warning disappears from the Desktop, WLM opens yet again.

Naturally I've allowed the issue to be reported to MS and sent the information, but I note that there is also a File that describes the event, in this case:

C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\Temp\WER21C8.tmp.hdmp

Is there any way that I may attempt to either fix or resolve this issue myself? For starters, I haven't a clue about how I access the quoted File, and if I did, I don't know what to do with it anyway.

Or is this yet another of those situations where you just grin and bear it until MS come up with something to resolve the issue? Hope not 'cos it's mildly annoying...

A:"Windows Live Mail has stopped working" - Files describe event; Fix?

1) Ignore error message.
2) Do a "repair" of Windows Live Essentials via Programs and Features
3) Use the Disk Cleanup utility
3) Use sfc /scannow via the command prompt window.

Hello,
Within windows 8.1, a problem has recently occurred in my Windows Live Mail
WLM opens ok and I can view my inbox, sent, etc.
But if I click on "reply", for example,  I get an error message:-
"A problem has occurred while trying to open this message.
A problem has occurred. Please try again."
I get the same error message if I try to open a New Message.
I found that I can write messages to myself online and they arrive correctly in my WLM Inbox.
This seemed to have occurred soon after an AVG update, so I uninstalled AVG and restarted, but still had the same problem.
Having looking online, I tried "repair windows essentials", but it had no effect.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Version 2011 (15.4.3508.1109)

Operating System version :
Windows Vista SP2

Enter the exact error that you are experiencing :
"windows live mail has stopped working"

Additional Details
When I close windows live mail it will give me a message that says " windows live mail has stopped working and is looking for a solution " then it will say it is restarting and will do this loop until I have clicked cancel on both boxes before window to restart opens. It has done this with the album viewer too but the last time I unistalled Essentials 2011 and reinstalled it. I only installed the writer and Live mail. Then after that I uninstalled evrything and did a clean install but still did not resolve issue.

I am using Windows Live Mail and after sending out some email this morning, it stopped working. I get this error message:

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was 'XXXXXX@XXXX'. [real email address deleted]
Subject 'gg'
Server Error: 452
Server Response: 452 4.7.0 [F12] Exceeded sending limits.
Server: 'smtp.q.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): No

At first, since it says "exceeded sending limits" I thought it was a problem with my ISP, but after calling them and sucessfully emailing using the web based email, it now appears to be a Live Mail problem. I have double checked my settings and they have not changes.

A:Windows Live Mail stopped sending

Do a repair of Windows Live Essentials, go to control panel and in Program and Features, and find Windows Live Essentials, click on it like you want to uninstall it. You will notice that by clicking on Windows Live Essentials, you will be prompted to choose to uninstall the programs, or just repair them. Be sure to click on the Repair option before hitting Continue.
From here, the program will automatically look through your installed Windows Live components and repair all of them. It does seem like a bit of a hassle considering if you’re only looking to repair just one of them, but if there are some other components that you have installed that could use a tune-up, it will perform the same maintenance on them as well.

See if that works.
If not then you need to do a backup first of Windows Live Mail
then uninstall Windows Live Mail and reinstall it

To backup Windows live mail
File
Export Mail
pick
Microsoft Windows Live Mail as the option
Browse to a folder to put it in (you need to make one first and there should be nothing it it already)
Click Next
Click on "Select All folders" (if this doesn not work and bombs out then go back and click on "Selected Folders. Use the cntrl key on keyboard and highlight all the folders you want to save)
Click Next and it will begin to save and finish
Now you can uninstall the program if the repair does not work
Once you reinstall just go back and click Import instead of export

Hope this helps

Hi,
I downloaded WLM Version 2009 (latest build) a few weeks ago and not been able to use messenger ever since. Every time I start the program comes with:

"Windows Live Communications Platform has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

and then a windows pups up with a message saying that Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Live Communications Platform.

I read that some people have installed the A-patch, went to the site downloaded the latest patch, for Version 2009 latest build, and no luck. I have re-installed several times also...no luck

I need messenger urgently and I'm frustrated...Any help please....Johnny

I've lost count of the number of times I've read the above message and its follow on comment that the program will be closed and notification given if a solution found. Plus the auto follow up message about closing for reason of data protection. No amount of uninstalls and reinstalls (of WLM) work. Any going back to an old WLM is not accepted as it advised I need to update to a newer version. Then the same result as described.

I encountered problem after setting laptop back to Vista factory settings. I have now caught up with SP2. There was a Microsoft follow up advising I should await Vista updates catching up with SP2. This has now happened but still I receive the same message each time I try to open WLM.

I have seen the problem posted previously but have not seen a solution that I haven't tried. I cannot set back to an earlier WLM. I have tried without a firewall (Norton) and disabling the webcam (logitech for notebooks) but nothing works.

There must be a definitive solution somewhere. Can anyone help please.

Hello, I apologize if this issue has been addressed a million times, but I have tried various ways to fix this problem by reading other posts but to no avail I succeeded. When I was using Windows Live Messenger about half an hour ago, it worked fine. I wasn't downloading and installing anything either. I logged into my inbox, and deleted an email I received from someone. When I logged out of my inbox and signed out of Windows Live Messenger, I immediately tried to sign back in because I forgot to do some changes in my Windows Live Messenger setting; hence, my Windows Live Messenger would begin to show "Windows Live Messenger has stopped working" for no reason. It was working half an hour ago, and then it stopped working seconds later. I tried to "run as administrator"; looked into my download history; uninstalled some really recent things I have downloaded yesterday which was Grease Monkey for my Firefox; repaired Windows Live; and uninstalled and installed. It's frustrating to me not knowing why it worked fine, and then it stopped working as soon as I decided to sign back in. This is mainly the problem here, and I do not know of any other solutions to fix this. Any help is appreciated, and thank you for taking the time to read!

Okay here it goes.
I recently formatted my pc having windows vista home premium 32 bit. (Installed the same now)
I installed Windows Live Messenger and whenever i sign in it gives me this error :
Windows Live Messenger has stopped working.
Here's a snap of it : http://i36.tinypic.com/34jbojr.jpg
I have no idea how this thing is happening.
Happens on its own.
This is the third time i have formatted my pc.
The first time There was a similar/same problem.
The second time there was absolutely no problem i.e WLM worked perfectly.
And now , the third time it gives me the same error it gave me initially.
PS : I also use Live Plus! (the extension as you all may know), but to be honest i don't see any link since that software is supposed to be used and it also says it supports on Vista.. and obviously they won't release the software if it creates problems. Just to try i uninstalled it and the problem was still there.

So can you guys help me out on this ?
I'm really screwed up at the moment. Can't chat with my friends. =(

hi,

i've had this problem for about 3 months now, and its getting rather frustrating!!!!

so,

when i load up windows live messenger, it comes up with this...

windows live messenger has stopped working
windows can check online for a solution to the problem

then i can either click on
-check online for a solution and close the program
OR
-close the program

when clicking on check online for a solution and close the program, it searches for about 5 seconds, then says 'the application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.

so i do so. Now it says...

-check online for a solution and restart the program
OR
-Restart the program

which ever one i click on it restarts and comes back to the initial error bar (check online for a solution and close the program, or close the program)

so i click close the program, and have to to so about 3 times for it to dissapear, nothing has changed, same happens again if i load it up again!

IM SURE YOU CAN SEE MY FRUSTRATION?!!?!?!? please please please help somebody?

So I've seen this problem all across the internet, but I haven't found a stable solution. I hope someone from here can help me =)

Recently, I've downloaded a couple of screensavers. They all work perfectly fine, but some of them will produce the error in my title. If I preview the screensaver or use the screensaver, then move my mouse to close it, I get a window saying "Windows Live Communications Platform Has Stopped Working" and I get the normal options of closing and sending a report, or just closing the program. My Windows Live Messenger will be signed out, and I will need to sign on again.

Now, like I said, not every single screen saver does that to me. Only certain ones. I downloaded four of them thus far: Inception screensaver from the Inception website; both Dark Knight screensavers from The Dark Knight website, and the Batman Arkham Asylum screensaver. Only the Batman: Arkham Asylum screensaver works perfectly, and does not give me the above error message.

The Problem Details from Windows 7 are as follows:

Windows live essentials will not run and I get the above message every time I try to run it. This has been happening for about a couple of weeks. I've tried to re-install and to repair but still the same. I get the same message at times when trying to run internet explorer directly from a link. eg the microsoft fix it link. repeated error boxes keep coming up (maybe 10 times) until it can finally be crossed off.

Can someone help me please?

Windows is doing away with The Windows Live branding. Maybe this has something to do with your problem??

Maybe if you download it and re install it , may help.

Hi,
im currently in university accomodation with free broadband internet use, this is good but it is restricted in the fact that not all ports are useable, torrents limewire etc are all blocked which is fine for me.

However i like to use msn and more specifically video chat. This worked fine in the first couple of weeks that i was here, however i tried again more recently and it seems it doesnt work for me. It does for other people in my accomodation block. When i try to enable my webcam it displays the image from it and says connecting, then live messanger just says it cannot connect, try again later.

I have reinstalled live messanger, tried using windows messanger (forgot how awful that was) and i have gone into networking services and enabled UPnP. I have tried with a number of contacts with no avail. I have also tried a new webcam which was no help, both webcams work on the pc, recording videos and taking pictures, but not on msn or live messanger.

Ive tried searchin google to no avail, im using xp so the thread on here about vista doesnt help me.

My copy of xp is fully updated, windows firewall is enabled and im using a NOD32 protection suite with IMON internet monitor included.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give as much detail as possible,
Does anyone have any ideas whats up?

Thanks,
Khris

A:windows live communications platform stopped working!

Hello Jorge, you joined just before I did The first thing I would do is try a System Restore point from before the problem started if you have one. It is also often suggested to update to the latest version if you have not already. Uninstalling, then reinstalling is also a suggestion.

Here is something else to try. Try deleting the wldlog.dll On x64 Version of Windows 7 this is located in

C:\program files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared

In x86 version it would be

C:\program files\Windows Live\Shared

Save a copy of the dll just in case. Right click on the dll and choose Copy. Now go to desktop and right click an empty area and choose Paste. This will give you a copy to copy back in case of any problems. Now delete the wldlog.dll and Try and launch messenger. If no fix, just copy the wldlog.dll back to it's original location. Let us know how it goes. If you'd like extra assurance, create a System Restore point before you start:

[SOLVED]

The title says most of it.

Recently (within the past couple hours, actually), I've been experiencing this error whenever I attempt to sign into Windows Live Messenger on my main e-mail. What I find odd about it, though, is that I can sign into Windows Live Messenger on any account other than my main one. Example: I'm able to sign into 123@abc.com and 456@def.com but not 789@ghi.com (main account).

This is all the information I'm presented with about the error:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: wlcomm.exe
Application Version: 14.0.8117.416
Application Timestamp: 4bc91069
Fault Module Name: ESENT.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.6002.18005

Additional Information 3: ed98
Additional Information 4: 4eb82a5ca9c4cdf4610a55cee4323dba
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, deleting certain files (as instructed by other threads), downloading file fixes, cleaning my registry, scanning my computer for viruses (with 4+ different programs), and everything else I could think of - I just don't seem to be able to find a fix. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm curious; are you using the beta version of Windows live?
If you are using the Beta, try the non-beta one or vice versa.
Sorry I couldn't help much.

You might also want to check to make sure all the latest updates for Windows are installed if you haven't already done that.

Good luck.

Any ideas on why these screen savers are affecting messenger like this?

A:Windows Live Communications Platform has stopped working

Code presumably from the screen saver (saver1.dll) has been injected into the wlcomm process. There appears to be a problem in saver1.dll and that in turn makes the entire process crash.

I'd suggest either finding an updated version of the screen saver software, and in particular the saver1.dll module, or removing it. It's almost certainly a bug in the current version of saver1.dll.

So my question is can I setup this PoP3 thingy my on Win 10 Laptop without too much agro.

Hi. If I uninstall windows live essentials 2011 and install windows live essentials 2009, will the 2009 windows live mail automatically have all my emails in place without having to import them from my backup? My .eml files are in C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail, so I assume any version of live mail will associate itself with that automatically and the emails will show up? The only reason I'm doing this is because I hate the new live messenger, (which I uninstalled) and tried to install the 2009 version. But it won't let me install older versions until I uninstall live essentials 2011. And that means all other live apps get uninstalled, including email of course.

Unless, (and I know this is the browsers and mail forum), anyone knows a workaround to installing 2009 messenger while keeping live essentials 2011 installed?

A:Installing older version of Windows Live Mail

Thanks guys. I haven't tried your method yet Roderunner but I wanted to test what would happen, so I installed email to my lesser used laptop last night as it hadn't been installed yet. I transferred my live mail folder from C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail to laptop, then put it in the same AppData location. Then I installed windows live essentials 2009 and live mail, and all my emails showed up. Two things that didn't show though.

1. My imported folder in the storage folder (with my archived 1999 - 2009 eml files) didn't show so I imported them, wasn't a problem.

2. My email contacts aren't showing. Where are they located? These aren't windows live contacts as such, these are just where I've had email correspondence with people and their addresses seem to get automatically saved so that when I compose a new mail, I can click 'To...' and see those addresses. As in my screenshot from my desktop contacts:

I migrated from OE to Windows Mail when I purchased my new desktop machine (Lenovo, Vista Premium)about 9 months ago. No problems using Windows Mail until 3 days ago. All of a sudden I stopped receiving my incoming mail. I can send mail no problem. 2x checked all settings with my ISP (Cox) and everything is correct as I suspected. They can't/won't help any further and said it must be an issue with Windows Mail server (???)They just suggested that I use their webmail which I can do, just don't like it as much. Chcked that out this morning and had 37 messages in my InBox. ( My friends still love me...)From reading other forum posts, I disabled email scan in McAfee and still no go.

Try to desinstall and reinstall this program I guess. Otherway, try the Klite codec pack. work perfectly under windows 7 x64. Just take the good version.

Having accomplished the change from Dual Boot W7 and XP to Single boot W7 (see my thread Problem reverting from Dual Boot to Single Boot) I am at a loss to understand why WLM is no longer functioning. It is almost as though WLM has been re-installed, but I certainly have not done that.

When I launch WLM I get an error message "Unable to send or receive messages for the Chaldon.plus (my.name) account. The host 'mal.plus.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

Server: 'mal.plus.net'

The server name is wrong, and having corrected it to 'mail.plus.net' (my ISP is Plusnet) and clicked on 'Send/Receive All email accounts' I then get a window: -
"Logon - Chaldon.plus (my.name). Please enter your user name and password for the following server". This is already filled in with server name 'mail.plus.net' and dots for the password. I retyped the password in case the one pre-entered was wromg but after clicking OK the same Logon window keeps re-appearing.

When I set up WLM I did alter the location of the Store but at the moment cannot remember exactly where, but almost sure it was a sub-folder of Data Files folder on M: drive. Windows worked one day and the next morning send/receive is selected a small window pops up titled DIal Up Connection with a connect button. Everything is blank nothing there. Further down a box says connect automatically, left unchecked ( when checked the same thing happens) below that is a connect button when selected says Dialing 1 attempt. failed. beside the connect button is a button that says Settings. This brings up the Internet Properties window with the Connection tab selected and there is a setup button that when I select says you are alread connected to the internet. (well I knew that.) Below that is a place to connect via Dial Up Connection. All blank, nothing there and below that is a LAN button that when selected a new window opens and a box which is checked, I unchecked and rechecked it, that says Automatically Detect Settings. This has been checked on this computer from the time I put it online, and it is so on the other two computers that I have online.

Then I go back to Windows Mail and select Send/Receive and we repeat the aboved sequence.

I have tried very thing that I can think of. Surely need some help with this Vista problem.

A:Thunderbird message filters stopped working.

I just checked one of mine and my message filters (at least the tested one) is working. Same Thunderbird and same OS. Don't know what to suggest except to double check that each filter is Enabled and that they are running on the correct (presumably INBOX) folder.

I don't see how an Anti-virus could be a factor, but since it probably scans your messages suggest you try disabling it for a test.

Other Windows Live Mail issues

Which version of Windows Live Mail are you using ?

A:Windows live mail stops working????

Had the same issue today.

Posting a solution that has worked for me.
Win7, Windows Live Mail Version 2011 (15.4.3508.1109) IE8

After searching for solution
Tried Repair on Live Essentials, Uninstalled and re-installed Live Essentials
From previous work I am aware that Outlook Express and IE are intertwined. So it figures that IE and Windows Live mail are intertwined.
I uninstalled IE8 and Reinstalled it.
Then on a wim I found the IE9 and loaded it.

Problem appears to be resolved with IE9
I assume IE8 got corrupted somehow and was not able to be fixed.
Hope this helps someone

My Windows Mail keeps stopping and restarting. I get a message that Windows Has Stopped Working and that it is going to restart. It shuts down the Windows e-mail and then restarts. When it has fully restarted, it resumes at the same e-mail that was displayed when it shut down and a message is displayed that because Windows e-mail shut down, it will not display the e-mail that it was viewing at the time it shut down and if you want to view it to click the button to open it.

I've had VISTA Home Premium and had been using Windows Mail for at least nine months. I never had this problem until I downloaded Vista Service Pack 1. As soon as I did that and rebooted my laptop, Windows Mail started having this problem.

Previous advice was to disable anti-virus on incoming/outgoing mail - I did to no avail. My anti-virus program is CA.

What is in Service Pack 1 that would have caused this problem and does Microsoft have a "fix" for the Service Pack 1 that would end this problem I am having.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Joanne

Hi

When I try to insert my signature into a reply to an email it doesn't appear properly. I do this by hitting "reply" and then hitting "insert", then "signature", then "default signature" I only see the plain text. No html formatting.

When I create a new email message, my signature appears perfectly.... automatically. How do I make my signature appear automatically replies to emails properly?

Bt the way, my signature is in a html file and I have specified the file in options > signatures > edit signature > file

Any ideas? Thanks

A:Solved: Windows Live Mail - Signature not working

You may have Windows Live Mail set to do replies in Plain Text format.

See here: http://malektips.com/windows-live-mail-send-plain-text-email-replies.html
However for step 5 make sure HTML is selected instead of Plain Text.

I have upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After doing so and making sure my accounts are all setup, I have found that I can not get the mail tile to act "live". I have verified it is set to live by right-clicking and seeing that link state "turn live tile off". I tried doing that and then turning it back on. I have tried rebooting. But the tile just isn't live. My other live tiles (news, finance, weather, store, etc) all seem to be live. It is only mail that I am having a problem with.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

A:Mail Live Tile not Working after Windows 8.1 Upgrade

OK. Not sure what is going on. My Yahoo Mail account would not allow me to set it up as get messages as they occur. I had to set it up as check every 15 minutes. My Gmail account did not have this issue. But still not getting the live tile to work. I saw 15 apps needed updating now, so did that (mail was one of them), but still no live tile working for mail.

I finally decided to install Yahoo Mail because I needed the live tile for that account. But that live tile was not working either. I had people send me emails, and nothing. They sent to Yahoo and to Hotmail. Then after about 4 hours, all of a sudden I started getting the live tiles updating. I have no idea why.

I removed Yahoo Mail, and still the live tile worked for mail. I waited until the next morning to verify it was all good and it is still working.

So marking as solved. Not sure what solved it, but there you go.

Hi All - I am a bit desperate, having done a forced upgrade to W10 from W7 on Friday (three days ago). After the upgrade, I can no longer get in to Windows Live Mail 2011. It worked fine for years on W7 prior to the upgrade on Friday. I had to do the upgrade, since Windows told me W10 would be installed on my next restart.

The symptom is that WLM 2011 says 'starting' for about 5 minutes, then an error occurs which says

"Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory. (0x80041161)."

I tried MS support, but 5 techs and two hours later, I was no closer. Their suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall WLM. I am reluctant to do that unless I can get clear instructions on how to back up the files. I cannot lose the email folders and contacts - the email is my wife's account, and it has many, many years of information in it.

Actions I have attempted:
- run a repair on Windows Live Essentials and reboot - tried multiple times, no resolution
- Run the compatibility troubleshooter, and run the program in Win 7 compatibility mode - no fix.
- Went in to Services, and changed Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant to start automatically (it was set to manual). Rebooted - no fix. When I try to start the service manually, I get an error message "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". That happens instantly.

I installed the Windows 7 trial OS.
I installed Windows Live Mail.

I setup all of my email accounts (gmail, Hotmail, Live and my ISP Parolink email).

All work great except the email from my internet service provider, which is my main email.

When I hit Sync they all Send/Receive ok until it reaches my Parolink account. Then it displays "Checking for new messages on 'Parolink (johnnieq)'... Downloading message 1"

And it remains there counting up and in about thirty seconds it shows "Downloading message 30128" and keeps on counting up at a blazing speed, but not one message is ever received.

The settings are correct, copied and pasted from my XP drive. I can access my email ok via a web browser. I have no viruses. (new OS installtion) I contacted my ISP and they see nothing wrong at their end.

Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this?

A:Solved: One account not working in Windows Live Mail?

I installed Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 Beta 3 and tried the problem account in it. When I tried Send/Recieve an error message appeared saying it could not create a folder? The path it displayed in the error message had "AVG" in it. So I opened AVG and disabled all the email options & retried Thunderbird. It worked. I tried Windows Live Mail & it worked.

AVG was giving me an warning message that I was not protected so in the Email Scanner Settings I re-enabled the "Scan outgoing messages" & "Display notification window when e-mail is being scanned" options. I left the "Scan incoming messages" box unchecked and the AVG security warning left & my email still worked.

Problem solved.

A:Windows Vista Mail - spell checker stopped working

Hi Maurice941,

Do you currently use the old "Windows Mail" or the newer version "Windows Live Mail" ? Usually the crash you just described occurs on the older "Windows Mail" because there is some sort of interfering between the Antivirus in your system and Windows Mail. I strongly recommend the upgrade if you haven't done it yet

Also, If you are using the old version, have you tried to reset your Windows Mail settings? If not, you can follow the steps in this tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/62560-windows-mail-problems.html

Hello,

I believe this problem has cropped up since my computer installed some microsoft updates, so I can always restore my laptop if there is no other solution.

One morning I go to open Windows Live Mail and I get a message saying 'The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library. urlmon.dll.' The program then opens, and downloads my emails, but I can't 'view' any of them. I use AVG to do a full computer 'dynamic' scan and there are no threats. I try and repair the software but it makes no difference. So I reinstalled the software, and now I get the error message but the program doesn't open at all.

If anyone could help, I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks,

Sophie

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:Can't import mail to Thunderbird from Yhaoo mail on Windows

Yes, it's compatible, just make sure you are using the latest version: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Not sure what you mean by import from Yahoo. If you are using Yahoo mail on the web and you want to use it with an email client like Thunderbird then you need to setup the email account in Thunderbird and it can download the emails. Here's a good guide on setting it up using IMAP which will give you all the folders you see on the web: http://pop2imap.com/yahoo_thunderbird.php

Edit:

If you want the Yahoo Contacts and Calendar then there are two extra steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo

Hi, All
First time in the forum.

In Win Live Mail when I click on an email it goes poof! and disappears. This is an intermittent occurrence, but now it is happening more frequently. Occasionally, I can find it in Trash, but not very often.

I installed Thunderbird, hoping it would fix whatever glitch was in Win Mail. But, the same thing is happening.

I don't what what to do at this point.

Hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks so much in advance,
