Visiting website to view news story and video ads also play at same time!

Q: Visiting website to view news story and video ads also play at same time!

With Mozilla Firefox, I frequent various reputable websites for news and usually it will have a video that I want to watch. Seems like within the past month, video ads that are located on side of the page that I NEVER CLICK ON OR HOVER MY CURSER over, will start playing at the same time. I have to pause my news story to scroll up and or down to find the ad that is playing. Sometime there is not a pause/stop button on those ads.  Would a pop-up blocker work or something else.

A: Visiting website to view news story and video ads also play at same time!

The Adblock Plus Extension should take care of the video ads. To get rid of all ads open Extensions under Tools >  Add-ons > Extensions. Go to adblock options , click the Filter Preferences button and uncheck the "allow some non-intrusive Advertising" box.  Also for Filter preferences make sure Easylist and Adblock Warning Removal list are checked. Click the add filter subscrption button and add the EasyPrivacy List, making sure you check it's box to activate it.

Does anyone know why I can not view Fox News videos in IE 7, but I can view them in Firefox? I meet all of the system requirments have Windows Media Player 11, and Real Player 10 installed on my system. The videos are being streamed succesfully in Firefox, but not IE. The only problem where this issue occurs is at Fox News:

www.foxnews.com and only on IE 7. Note that Fox News uses it's own media player. Is this an IE 7 glitch or what?

I've reinstalled a fresh copy of MSN app. I've created a new profile to see if this was the problem. No Joy. I have other Windows news apps that play video just fine. I've also uninstalled both java and flash reinstalling them with no resolution. Can you help?

A:Windows 10 Msn News App will not play video

First of all, most video sites don't use Flash anymore. They use html5. MSN used to use Microsoft Silverlight. I think Silverlight is being discontinued but I don't know how far that has gotten. Regardless, MSN never used Flash. One of the other two should work.

Does anyone use the BBC News website?

They recently introduced Autoplay for the next video inline and an option to disable it. So when watching a video you can scroll over it to show the Auoplay on / off button. If you select off the next video won't play

However, if you go to a separate video the Autoplay function is back on and you have to manually switch it off again

It does this on Firefox and Explorer

I tried an add-on stopping flash playing automatically but once the first video is playing it over rides it

I think this may only apply in UK as the site behaves differently in oter countries

Is there a way around this?

Other sites remember your settings until you log out. For some reason the BBC News site doesn't

Hello all, I'm new at this so please excuse any mistakes.

Over the past two weeks, I've received occasional virus warnings when I go to Foxnews.com.
Avast warns me about "http://iwqoxiaw.info/ng/pdf.php" and provides a name of: JS:Pdfka-BG.
This has not happened on any other websites.

I'm running XP Pro, Avast virus, and Zone Alarm.

I'm a bit concerned as I can't find any info about this that I understand and was wondering if anyone could help.

I've attached the "attach.txt file and a hijack this log.

Thanks in advance.

When I attempt to play a Yahoo news video I see the preceding video ad but when the news video should start to play it instead displays "video no longer available". I am running a 32bit version of windows 7 home premium (just upgraded from Vista) on an HP desktop with 3mb memory. This problem existed under Vista before the upgrade, and I hoped that the upgrade would eliminate it.

I have another desktop and a new laptop, each running a 64bit version of windows 7 home premium on which this problem does not exist (although I do not believe that the problem is caused by the fact of the 32bit OS. All three computers are running on the same lan.

BBC just ran a story on the Technology part of it's website about poisoned websites that hackers are infecting with code to record keystrokes.

Technology Story

It refers to content management sites and although it doesn't specifically mention Joomla, I'm assuming that's what they mean.

Is this really beginning to be a major problem?

How do you know if you're infected with a key logger program and how do you eradicate it?

Hello Guys I hope you are ok, I have a bit of a problem. There is an important video that I need to view on the BBC website but I can't because apparently only UK residents have viewer rights.

Efforts to get them to courier me a copy of the video have have proven unfruitful.

Is there anyway I can go around this barricade and get to my video and possibly download it.

The link to the video is as follows

A:Can't View Video From Website

Hi rockgod.According to the website, WMP 7.1 or higher and IE5 or higher are the main requirements.Cookies must be enabled and any third party pop-up blockers, etc should be disabled.I looked at it using IE6 with the built in popup blocker enabled and still didn't have a problem though. There is some video troubleshooting tips for the site here. That's a pretty scarry story. In case it is somehow related to someone you know, I took a few minutes and recorded it in .wmv (WMP format) and will leave a direct file download link at rapidshare. Feel free to send your mom or anyone else here for the link. When you click the link, select "free" in the lower right hand corner. You'll get a ticket and a brief few seconds wait. Enter the code given and start the download.Just save to drive and double click, it will open in WMP. It's approx. a 17mb file and will remain on rapidshare for 30 days only.IBC Story

Hello guys, i m new for the site so sorry if i breech any sort of rules by opening this topic, my issue is just so urgent for me i felt i really couldnt wait but ask it

My problem is , i used to watch turkish soccer league online via its tv website and it worked without a problem for a long time.
last weekend my laptop shutdown (no battery left) and when the windows restarted it and i tried to get back the video , it just wouldnt work anymore.
what happens is, when i click on play button of the video, it just says "ready" but gives no video content , it does the same when you click on play again. (i also realized when i tried to maximize the window size of the video feed, it doesnt get maximized anymore)

i realized this is the same with not just that sports channel website but any kind of news website, when ever i try to watch its live feed from its website , or when i try to listen radio stations, it just doesnt start anymore and just says "ready" on the media player.
tried to re-install codec, update wmp, nothing really worked.

what could have caused this issue all of a sudden?
i cant listen any live radio stations or watch video content from it.
i must also finish by saying my media player works perfectly otherwise, it works normal if i want to watch downloaded stuff or a dvd, i can also view videos from websites like youtube with no-problem.

A:Cannot view website video/radio content

Hi Turk123. . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

My first thought about your situation is that an update of some type may have entered your system causing the problems. Therefore, I suggest that you perform a System Restore - to a point prior to the start of your problems.

START | type rstrui.exe in the Start Search box | click on that file | follow the screens and perform the restore.

Regards. . .

Don't know what really happened, but generally a "system restore" will fix most problems that are not hardware related. You can undo a restore if it is not helpful.

To try one, run rstrui.exe and pick a date before the problem occured.

To undo it, just run it again and pick the most recent restore point.

A:Can't play video on website

Sounds like a Flash issue.

I'm presuming you 'auto' upgraded Adobe Flash when prompted to.

Thing is, you can't update adobe just like that, you must uninstall your current adobe first (why it isn't part of the update I'll never know!).

And you can't just uninstall it yourself, you need the adobe flash uninstaller - which is here. Run that, then reinstall here.

Also, if you are running IE8 (as you'll need different versions of Flash for each browser) you can't install flash WITH IE8, it'll just crap out. You'll need to install it with another browser eg. Chrome. Choose 'Different operating system or browser?' then select IE, run it and IE8 is good to go.

Hope this helps.

I would like to play video clips from certain web sites, such as CNN, but am unable to, for some reason. While on CNN, I clicked on the hyperlink “play video”. A window frame came up, with nothing displayed inside the window, for a few seconds, then disappeared. I went back to the hyperlink then right-clicked on it. I selected “open new window” from the menu, at which time a new window popped up, with “java script:launchvideo…” shown in the Address Bar and the familiar info line “this page cannot be displayed” appeared in the window.

My Dell PC is an 8300, running Win XP-PRO and has Win Media Player (WMP) and Nero Media Player on it. WMP is the latest update found in March 2004 on line and Nero is of version 5.5. I am not sure what else is missing in my installation but does anyone know what needs to be accomplished at this point, in order to play web site Video clips? Any useful instructions/feedback are greatly appreciated.

Answer Match 65.52%

I am running WinXP PRO service pack 3.

Whenever I visit a sportsite, or even youtube and play a video, the whole
machine freezes and there is nothing I can do except reboot. It doesnt
happen consistently, and I cannot reproduce it at will.

It has happened many times now, yet I cannot reproduce it whenever
I want to(and usually I do not want to).

I have a feeling it may be the monitor drivers that need to be updated,
or upgraded or something. Also, if I try to download a .doc file from any
website(my grad school for example), I get the blue screen of death and it reboots again.

Is there any diagnostic utility or driver update util or something?

A:Windows freezes when I play a video on some website

Let's take a look at the dump files for the BSOD you are experiencing, then we will go from there. The freezing issues might be a outdated driver for the video card. The dump files should yield more results.

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump and take all the files found there and zip them up into one .zip file and upload it to your next post.

Hello,

So I've always wondered if you can get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?

I always thought this was a No, because I believe a user is only infected when he/she opens up that malware/virus FILE, once you open it up and install it then you are infected.

I know there are drive by downloads, but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.

Malware/virus can't infect your computer unless you open the file, right?

A:can you get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?

Hi NEMS Yes, it's entirely possible to get infected by simply visiting a website. Most commonly via what we call "Exploit Kits". Right now, EK are used to deliver a lot of dangerous malware (such as banking trojans and Cryptoware) to computers worldwide. So using a standard Antivirus and Antimalware won't cut it. Using a program that protects your web browser against such threats, like Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit will. but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.This is assuming that the file pushed on your system is already known to your Antivirus or Antimalware (in its database). If it's not, it won't do anything. And we all know that no products have a 100% detection ratio.Edit: For more information on Exploit Kits and how they work, see the article below.Tools of the Trade: Exploit Kits

I'm usually a lot smarter than this.. but I read someones post in a forum about how a website has set up a popular game, San Andreas Multiplayer, in a frame that remotes a machine so you can play in the browser. The game is a bit more involved than a typical browser game, so of course i figured it would be unplayable at best, but curiosity got the best of me and I visited the site.I immediately figured out that it was just a video of someone logging into a server, and i was most likely being infected while watching.. I checked around and saw some minimal info about the site including this post:http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=538035The site I visited was: www, sampfreeonline,tk .. which points to: samponlinefree, orq,pl(dots were replaced with commas so no one clicks by accident)Can anyone verify if this is indeed a malicious site.. I'm thinking I have a keylogger installed now and its just waiting for me to join a server... ..or even worse..Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Hi!

Today, while  visiting a website with IE, I suddenly got a new window which contained a message from "NSA+ FBI" ( or smthg like that), telling me that I am at risk of being thrown to jail for the next 5-7 years unless I pay a fine of about 150$ either with my credit card or by buying some sort of prepaid phone cards. It was imposible for me to close the window or to use CTRL+ ALT+DEL so as to close it from Task Manager. So, I shut down the computer from the start menu.

After restarting it, the internet works much slower.

Since then, I ran a quick scan with my Security Essentials (updated right before starting the scan), which lasted for about 70 minutes (!!!) but found nothing . I have also performed a scan using Microsoft's Safety Scanner, which returned the result that there are no unwanted programs on my computer.

But if no unwanted software is on my computer, then how come did I got that screen asking me for money on behalf of CIA/ FBI.. etc... ?????

Thank you

I think this is the website where the malware came from, but I'm not sure. I've included the URL here, in case it helps someone figure out what my problem is.

I didn't click on any of the advertisements or install any new programs or download any files. But within 5 minutes of my visiting the page, popups began to rapidly show up. I usually use FireFox, but they were coming from Internet Explorer. They were coming very fast- maybe 20 within as many seconds, so I unplugged my wireless router and forcibly disconnected my computer from the internet.

I used another computer to look up tutorials on how to get rid of a malware problem, and downloaded recommended programs. I also edited the registry myself and deleted registry keys that were obviously associated with the malware that hadn't been there before (named things like "vvxxasjdfdsf.exe" and such) but this malware is obviously beyond my limited expertise, because it is still there.

My computer hasn't been connected to the internet since. (I'm using a different computer to post here.)

When the computer's on, Internet Explorer attempts to connect to the internet every few minutes. For the first few minutes where I didn't realize I had a problem, I'm pretty sure it connected to more malware sites and downloaded more crap onto my computer. Spybot seems to have gotten almost everything, except for the very stubborn root problem, which Spybot says is "Smitfraud.C"

Now to test my system further i visited the said website using IE and google chrome which have built-in flash player plugin and i got the same BSOD error.Tried the same in Guest account with the same BSOD error repeating itself.

I am attaching the relevant zip file.

All of your dumpfiles blames Probably caused by : RTKVHD64.sys ( RTKVHD64+1af077 )
This is the driver for your Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver

Your Dell model only supports windows 7 drivers see here

But maybe the generic driver from Realtek will also work on your Dell machine. Try updating to the latest windows 8.1 compatible driver from here.

Infection:   Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]
Process:   C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe

Now, the URL seems telling. The domain gvt1.com is owned by Google, and a CRX is a Chrome extension, so I suspect it's trying to download a malicious Chrome extension onto my PC. And it would appear it attempts to download it every 30 seconds, but Avast! keeps blocking it. However, I have no idea what to do to stop it from doing this and indeed whether or not my PC is already pwned.

I've run a full MBAM scan and thus far found no hint of any malware in memory nor in the file system, but I'm still scared my PC's been pwned and I don't know whether I should shut it down or run rkill or what.

Thank you for your help.

Hi all,

First post bc I can't find a good answer to this question anywhere.

I play guitar and as such, I frequently visit www.ultimate-guitar.com. For the past few months, whenever I visit the site, there is a good chance of my computer spontaneously just shutting down. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens a good portion of the time that I go to the site, and it only ever happens on that site.

I'm currently running 64-bit Vista Home Premium. This happens on both Chrome and Firefox.

On some media websites (some like youtube), there is a popup when I click play on their video player. It seems to only happen on the first visit to the websites. One time, it was a webcam popup of someone but I don't think it was live, just an ad or something. It seems like my popup blockers do not detect it cause I'm thinking the video players have some sort of link embedded in them. Anyway, is there a way to prevent this?

A:Annoying popups when clicking play on website video players

YouTube recently began using embedded pop-ups which activate when the cursor crosses the screen.

They aren't technically pop-ups and you can't block them as with conventional pop-ups.

Annoying though, I'll give you that.

Hi everyone.

I received a link to a video entitled "Russian Guy touching 1000 Breasts". While the link opened, I closed the window but was watching a YouTube video at the same time. A pop-up came up for installing a YouTube and Flash update for the YouTube player, and I didn't think twice and clicked it assuming it was legitimate. Now I highly doubt it was. Every time I visit any site with Google Chrome the same warning message is displayed concerning the site allinfree.net, no matter what site has been visited. I have attached a sample screenshot as google_warning.jpg.

I searched online and found someone complaining of the same problem: https://community.mcafee.com/message/223287 However, detailed steps were not provided as to how to solve the problem.

I ran scans using Avira Free Antivirus, McAffee Stinger, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition to try and clean my computer, however the message was still coming up in Chrome.

I came across this site and was following instructions for posting concerning a Malware infection. I was able to get a DDS report however in the middle of scanning using GMER, my computer froze, crashed, and re-started. Now the computer runs extremely slowly, and every time I try to get a GMER log the same events happen. I have attached my DDS log (Attach.txt) and a HijackThis! log (hijackthis_log.txt) for support.

Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you for your time, help, and input .

Most likely causes:
The website contains exploits that can launch a malicious code on your computer

What you can try:

Hello,

I am not exactly sure when this problem started, as I haven't tried to play a video in about 2 months, and it worked then. However, it now seems that every time I try to open an .avi file (I haven't tried with other video formats), whatever program I am trying to use to play it, gives me the MMC error of "blah blah has stopped working" and gives me the option of closing the program or going online to fix the issue. If I click the "go fix the issue" button nothing happens. I've tried system file check and a clean boot. I tried going to Device manager to check on the drivers, but the same exact thing happens when I try to open Device Manager.. I get the MMC error. I know that this is a common error with Vista and it seems, after reading through tons of issues, that the only solution is to reinstall Vista, which I would like to avoid if possible. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Audio and Video.
I have a Inspiron 17 5720 Laptop.
My computer doesn't seem to be laggy, It isn't overheating (I can feel heat although not overly hot). My problem is when I actually press the "play" button.
My internet connection is 75mb D/L, and 40mb/Upload, Videos load in seconds so it's nothing to do with streaming.
It takes a while to actually play the video or audio clip, On Youtube and VLC. It takes about a minute then finally decides "I'll play this video for him finally",
The video itself, and Audio works wonders, NO lag at all. My problem is it takes forever to actually play (Even when fully buffered).
It happens with my music aswell, ill try to play music and it will take about a minute to play the song.
Thanks so much!

A:Audio/Video, Time it takes to play; Slow!.

Do you mean that your internet connection is 75 Mbps or 75 Mbph? Because the way you wrote it really doesn't make sense, it is like saying that a car can go 100 miles. OK, but how long does it take to go 100 miles, is that 100mph or is it 100 mpd? Same with your post, how fast is your internet connection really?

I cannot access the "comments" when on the Fox News website and I'm reading a chosen article. I use to be able to, but now the word "comments" just shows up for a couple of seconds, and then goes away.

I've tried writing to the tech support at Fox but have not had any response.

Any thoughts on why this is happening or what I need to do to correct the situation?

Thanks.

Hi, welcome to TSF

I opened a Fox News article in Firefox with scripts blocked (using the NoScript addon) and got a spinning icon and message saying "Loading IntenseDebate Comments....." at the bottom of the page which disppeared after a few seconds. When I enabled scripts for foxnews.com and intensedebates.com and reloaded the site, the comments appeared as normal.

Check your browser options, addons and security software to see if anything is blocking java or scripts.

On certain web pages, like www.comcast.net, there is a window that contains various news topics. After a couple seconds, the window changes and displays a new set of topics. It will repeat this for five or six times and then repeat starting with the first.

My computer no longer does this. When the page is first brought up, the initial window will display the first set of topics. But when it is supposed to change to the next set, the window disappears. The browser remains open, and I can still interact with the rest of the page. But that "scrolling news window" is gone.

I noticed this a couple weeks ago, but didn't think much of it. But then my wife noticed it amd thinks I did something to the computer. I hope it is just a simple setting that was changed.

PS. A similar "scrolling news window" is on www.mlb.com

A:Can't View "scrolling News Windows"

What browser are you using? It most likely is a setting in the browser that needs to be changed.

Hi,

The flash videos on the BBC News/Sports website are not working for me. I just get a white blank screen instead of the player.

That's the only website on the entire Internet where I'm having problems with Flash. Even the other parts of the BBC website (such as iPlayer) are working properly and videos coming up.

It's only the News/Sports section where I get the white screen.

I've tried numerous things, but to no avail. They include:

trying the websites on different software including IE8, Firefox, Chrome.
uninstalling and reinstalling flash
uninstalling and reinstalling java
disabling my antivirus software (norton)
trying it in safe mode with networking.

But they've not worked unfortunately. And I'm not sure what more I can do. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Let me start by stating that I've already been to the security "Am I infected?" forums and was kindly assisted by Bloopie over there, and he has thoroughly checked my machine and gave me the go ahead to post over here.

Now the problem:

I am having an issue where a website (my own wordpress store none the less) is redirecting to Google news (https://news.google.com/) every time I type the URL into my browser.  I've tried it with both IE and Edge and have the same problem with both, however it does work with Firefox no issues.  Let me also point out that on my work computer my website opens fine on ALL browsers including IE.

My home machine is Windows 10, my work machine is not (although I don't recall the exact OS).  When I first purchased this computer my website opened fine on IE and Edge, however after a couple months this problem arose.

Occasionally I will encounter a popup before accessing this website.

My McAfee Internet Security will display a warning message upon typing the URL into my browser.

It states "http://185.93.187.90/8b2C may be risky to visit." then asks if I want to accept the risk.  Since this website is my own website, I accept the risk and then it instantly forwarded back to google news again.

I know this is a lot to process, the link to my other thread is here:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/597094/help-website-redirecting-to-google-ne... Read more

A:HELP! - My website is redirecting to Google News!

Whatever code is running on the http://185.93.187.90 is being flagged by browsers as a threat and as a countermeasure your browser will redirect you back to your home page google.com, firefox.com etc. It could be old outdated html, php, flash, SSL certifcates etc. It can also be a hijacked website with malicious code. So basically it can be anything. I didn't enter the website because this is my everyday use system. It's best to access the website with a live cd, or virtual machine just incase. I am sure malware team and others here at BC can spin one up fast and see what it is. I got a crappy laptop here to do that, but i've been having hardware issues with it at the moment. A dead battery that won't hold a charge.

You are currently running an outdated version of HiJackThis. Please click on the link below to download the most current version:HiJackThis_sfx.exe
Delete your current HiJackThis.exe file
Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install the newer version.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\HiJackThis\
I would require your next HJT log to be from this newer version

Download Ewido Security Suite - Install & Update it's database but do not run it yet.

** Please disable all other antivirus programs before proceeding.**

Run Ewido:Click Scanner
Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
Click OK when prompted to clean files
With the first file it prompts to clean, select the option - "Perform action on all infections" - & choose clean and click OK
Once finished, click the Save report button
Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido
* Ewido scan would require at least an hour. I suggest that you go grab a cup of coffee & do something else while you wait for it to complete.

At the BBC site I can play their news videos just fine if, at the BBC site, I instruct the site to use RealPlayer. If I tell it to use WMP, no video plays. I have no trouble playing videos from MSNBC or my own videos I've saved to my HD.

Now just recently I did a repair install of Windows. Before that time I ws using WMP 10 and the BBC videos played just fine. I got WMP 11 because the Repair install left me with WMP 9 (that was on my original XP CD) so 10 was gone. When I went to get WMP 10, MS had put out the WMP 11 Beta so I just downloaded that.

WMP 11 has all the File Types in its list checked.

Do you think WMP omitted the codec needed for BBC news videos? (I've no idea if they did or if a particular codec is needed for BBC news videos.)

WMP 10 used to play the BBC videos just fine.

What's going on? What can I do? (Yes, I can just use Real Player but wouldn't you thiink WMP 11 should play the BBC videos when WMP did?)

A:WMP 11 is refusing to play news videos from the BBC site

can you put a link to these movies here. then someone who has wmp11 mite try viewing it. then that way they can see if it is the player?
plus what format are the movies?

On a family members computer running Windows 7 when using firefox (most recent version) any time a video is played on either facebook or various news websites like fox news or cnn the video just shows up white while the sound is still playing. Additionally, players like the watch instant player on netflix wont allow pausing, the button to pause simply does not work. I have re-installed drivers, emptied the cache, turned on and off hardware acceleration on flash, various solutions found around the web. I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A:Whatt's The Story With "time Executable".

Which time executable are you referring to?

The general rule with firewalls is - if you don't know what it is, block it. Then, if something that you use stops working, you can try starting it and seeing if that fixes it (with great caution of course).

Let me just start by saying Lenovo rocks hard! Let me also say Dell sucks! I decided to upgrade my two laptops I use for my work, they were around 3 years old. I am an independent computer consultant. I mainly architect and develop software for businesses. I focus on the Microsoft stack and Azure. I had an Asus touchscreen laptop for travel and a beefier Sager with a desktop chip and NVidia graphics card for home. I mainly work from home recently but I have to travel to customer sites periodically. I did some research and with Intel Skylake I found out laptops can now have 64GB of memory which I need because I run multiple Hyper-V VMs on my home laptop. I first searched for my home laptop and the Lenovo ThinkPad P series came up due to the 64GB I was looking for. When I looked at the P70 I got excited because it had virtually everything I was looking for in my new home laptop, 17? screen, higher graphics resolution (4K), PCIe-NVMe SSDs, 64GB DDR4, Nvidia Discrete GPUs, and high end Intel Skylake CPUs. What excited me more was they had an Intel mobile Xeon and ECC memory to go with it (Not sure the ECC memory is functioning as ECC now). The NVidia Quadro concerned me because I was used to the Nvidia GTX series and really wasn?t familiar with the Quadro series. Anyway I decided right then I wanted the Xeon Mobile chip, 64GB and all the other components recently mentioned so I priced it out and it came in around 5K which is what I usually spend but this w... Outlook Calendar shows start time in the monthly view but not the end time. I have right clicked on the calendar gone to Other Settings and checkmarked "Show End Time" but the end time still does not show. How do I make the start and end time show in the monthly view?

A:Outlook Calendar shows start time in the monthly view but not the end time.

You did not say what version of Outlook.

I am using Outlook 2007 and note the same as you - only the start time is displayed. I note on mine, if the end time was displayed, there would be little to no room for the Subject title so for me, I would rather have the appointment title instead of the end time. I think in a crowded field (as the monthly view can be) that is best for most people.

I don't see a fix for you. However, for a workaround, with Outlook being in "focus", if you hover over the appointment with your mouse, then the stop time is also displayed in a bubble.

When I try to capture video onto my hard drive, or even direct record to DVD the Video is in double time, like its in fast forward. And the audio plays in real time, so of course the audio is not in sync with the video and it's terrible. Any ideas?

I used to be able to play the video news from the above referenced news channels (except Fox).I can still play the news on AP and MSNBC on both browsers. Also a local Tampa Bay News 10 will play the videos. I have tried the above mentioned news broadcast on both IE7 and Firefox and both browsers refuse to play. Some of the time the video will open and stop after 2 or seconds. My system has ZoneAlarm firewall, AVG virus detection, spywareblaster and PestPatrol for security. My OS is Windows XP Home edition with SP2. Have the networks made some changes or something to their format? Or is something not set correctly on my computer? Didn't see any helpful information by Googling.Edit: Moved topic to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Network News Video's

Are these embedded videos or does a window pop up? Sometimes popup blockers will block the video player and you have to adjust it to allow the player. Normally I would ask about Flash but many proprietary sites don't use Flash. They might use Windows Media, Real Player or Quicktime. The way to find that out is right click on the player and it will tell you. Were these playing before when you were using IE6?

I thought I had all the options set to be able to see news video clips and other brief clips (excerpts from ads) on my computer. Do you need a special video card for that? When I select a headline, for instance, just a black square comes up in the upper left corner of the screen and nothing loads. What can I do to enable my computer to bring me the news video and other clips? I am working on a Dell Dimension 4300 - 2002. 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 4X AGP Graphics card with TV-Out. I have tried Moyea to download and save a video appearing on the ABC News site. It doesn't seem to work. Is this because this is not in .flv format, and if not, how does one determine the format of an on-line video?
Is there another way to download this video?
Thank you!
Frank
BTW. For reasons that are unclear to me, Moyea (when set in auto mode) sometimes won't start. This seems to be the case even when a video is in known .flv format.

When I was running Win XP I had no problem viewing videos in Fox News. Now that I'm running Win 7 64bit I ran into a problem. On the Fox News website under Videos I get a blank video window..no controls..nada.

If I open Breitbart (news site ) and open a video it plays just fine. I open IE 8 and open Fox News...same problem..video stories will not play. I installed Opera and get the same problem.

No problem playing Youtube or other video sources...only Fox News. I have tried every suggestion in the Mozilla Help forum..all to no avail. There's an ad window on the right when I open Fox News and it reads..."firefox can't connect.....". I thought it was an Ad-Block problem but that didn't work.

I've been playing with trying to fix this for six months and I'm out of answers. This one has me stumped.

Recently I created a website for some friends of my on my domain name. I can view it all right, but i have some friends that live out west and they can't view it. I tried multiple redirectors, using the real addy for it but it comes up as page cannot be displayed for them. I then tried to get some other friends of my out west that are on a different ISP to view it and they can view it just fine.

The people who can't see it use the same ISP so are their ISP blocking something to where they can't view it? and is there a way for them to view it?
domain name is www.spiderwebshosting/NWM

Ok, well I can't view it either.

Make sure you have an index.html in the public folder, because that is what the website looks for unless you specify a file name (e.g. www.spiderwebhostin.com/NWM/nwn.html)

I have installed the most recent player and still get the same message, tried to unistall it and reinstall it and still the same message. I am presently running Windows Vista Ultimate, 2 GB RAM 500GB HD, Nvidia 8300, all of windows updates have been downloaded.

I f visit the same site while using Firefox I have no problem. Can there be something conflicting with my IE 7 application?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

A:Unable To Watch Online News Video Using Vista And Ie 7

When you uninstalled the Flash Player, did you use Adobe's Flash Player Uninstaller? You can't simply remove the Flash Player using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (or whatever the equivalent is in Vista):http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewConten...7&sliceId=2Also note that when installing the newest version of the Flash Player (after removing it as described at the above link), you'll need to install it twice: once for Internet Explorer and once for Firefox. There are different "instances" of the same version of the Flash Player -- one for Internet Explorer and one for Firefox:http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/

Hello,

I received a random BSOD this evening while watching a news video online. I did not get a chance to see what the blue screen said when it happened this time around. This has been happening sporadically at least a couple of times a month now.

The last time that I had a BSOD, which was around two weeks ago, it had something to do with a "Driver power state failure." In any case, I have uploaded the two minidump files for anyone to diagnose or look at that should hold more information on what caused this to happen. Any assistance on this matter is very much appreciated. Lastly, I should also mention that I had a brief power outage yesterday due to high winds in my area. The computer was running at the time, but I don't think that would cause the computer to produce a minidump file, right?

Thank you for your time,

ComputerTech07

P.S. My system is a two year old Dell XPS 8700 with an i7 processor, a 1TB hard drive, and 14 GB of memory. It is currently running Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

For IE6 or IE7->Go to the website->File->Save As...->choose the folder
where you want to save the page and click Save. You want the file format
to be .MHT.

You might want software - I haven't tried this but have seen it recommended

Probably an easier thing to do would be to have the homepage set up like an entry gateway. What I mean is when they type in your address it goes to your website that states something like:"[Your site name] is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox, we suggest you download firefox from http://www.getfirefox.com and revisit. If you would like to continue with IE or if you already have Firefox, please click Enter Here below"Then put an ENTRER Here with the link to your main entrance page.

So this one is pretty weird for me. I've never had any issues like this before, but I think it has to do with having all my drivers up to date. I was having this problem for a long time where I couldn't run games for too long because eventually the whole screen would get all glitchy and the last second of sound would repeat itself over and over until the monitor went into power saving mode. I tried reinstalling drivers, installing different graphic drivers like NGO and Omega which I had before.. Nothing worked!

Well, just recently my friend showed me this program driver cleaner pro and he said it helped him with his driver issues. So I followed the directions, uninstalled my drivers, cleared everything with the program in safe mode, restarted and reinstalled the drivers. Voila, all my games work with no issues at all, except for Counter-Strike 1.6.
Then I tried to watch a movie; It plays fine, I can hear the sound fine, but the video doesn't play. Even when I tried to record a video with fraps of one of my emulators (which has worked before), it didn't show video on playback.

So I restarted my computer.. now all my games don't work except Diablo 2, Starcraft, and CS 1.6. However, now I can watch movies with no problem at all! These past couple of weeks I've been having to go through the whole process of using driver cleaner pro, and installing Omega drivers again everytime my computer needed to reboot.

When I go to play CS: Source, it will get... Read more

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to view all the files listed in a particular directory of a website. For example, if I want to view all stored in www.website.com/videos/ ..... is there a way for the browser to just list all of the videos stored in there?

Thanks for your help.

A:View all files in a directory of a website

Entirely depends on what permissions the website programmer has allowed.
So the answer is yes, or no.

I'm trying to get my crappy desktop (with Windows XP) to be a web server. When I go to localhost it displays the website just fine, but when I go to the external IP on another computer it displays "mikrotik routeros 4.11 configuration page". I've forwarded port 80 and disabled my firewall.

Port forwarding (not sure if I did it right)

A:Can view my website on localhost but not external IP

Hi,

Try to search in router configuration, maybe its possible to change routers configuration to HTTPS or HTTP 8080. Most likely it have some priority on those port forwardings and simply ignore your forwarding because its own page on same port.

After an encounter with the ever-present Rogue AV a windows xp with sp3 machine works well except it cannot diplay the Windows update website.

I can go to many other Microsoft (and other) sites but not Microsoft Updates,

If I just click on "windows updates" from the xp program list or from within Internet Explorer I get "internet explorer cannot display the webpage"

If I try to sneak up on it by going to microsoft.com and then clicking links to get to the updates I wind here:

http://www.update.microsoft.com/mic...icrosoft.com/microsoftupdate&ln=en-us&muopt=6

with an error 0x80072eff.
