Are you asking a question about whether or not your computer has been remotely controlled, whether there is a product which can remotely control it (bypassing your anti-virus) or something else?

I can't use my Control with any other key to copy, cut, paste, or
bring up task manager.

Help please and thanks, Mary

Here is my hijackthis text file.

A:Control/C Control/V control/alter/delete doesn't work

Mary, keyboard problems are not invariably software or malware-related. First things first - what OS are you talking about ? XP, Win 7, Win 8 or what? What type of keyboard is it? PS2, USB or wireless?

Disconnect it and reconnect it a few times, reboot and try again. Turn the keyboard upside down, placing one end on the edge of a thick book, and thump a few times on the back with your hand. Sweep the crud onto the carpet.....

Is it just a keyboard hardware problem, and if so which keys? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/keyboard-shortcuts#keyboard-shortcuts=windows-7 tells you a lot of key combinations with ctrl and shift and alt. Tell us if any or none work?

Open a document and try typing a bit of text. Do all the characters work?

If it appears the keyboard is faulty, can you borrow another to test?

Quite often, keyboard problems are down to wireless problems: and can often be solved by re-installing the keyboard driver.

Hello,

I have a Windows 7 network set up and whenever I connect remotely to another computer and lock their input such as their keyboard and mouse, the remote user still has the ability to press ctrl alt del, which then allows them to use their keyboard and mouse. My question is, is it possible to disable the ctrl alt del functionality in Windows 7 so that that Blue security screen does not appear? I have tried lots of remote desktop controlling software which has the option to lock the remote computer input, but they still can press ctrl alt del and unlock their keyboard and mouse. How do I stop this? Thanks!

Best regards,

Jerry

We have a 2013 Microsoft Office Word Enabled Document that we want to e-mail to clients to complete (it is a questionnaire) with Check Box Content Control to allow clients to put ticks in relevant boxes.

However if the clients use Microsoft Office 2003 the document will open but removed the Check Box Content Control.

So we are wanting to create a document that will work in any version of Office and allow the Check Box Content Control/User to click on a box and a tick appear, they save the document then e-mail it back to us.

It is not essential it is in Word.

Has anyone got any ideas?

A:Word 2013 Doc with Check Box Content Control

For Office 2003, you will have to create the document using a forms field, as checkbox content control won't work in 2003.

I have a Nikon D70 which I use mainly for landscape and wildlife images. I have Parkinson's disease (mild) and get a lot of wasted shots due to my moving the camera when firing the shutter. I use a good tripod and have tried using the Nikon remote but it only works when I am in front of the camera. I've also tried time delay but, as you will appreciate, the best shots are often spontaneous.
Does anyone know of a device like the cable or air operated devices used on film cameras that could be used on a DSLR? I have one or two ideas for something but it would need precision engineering skills which I don't have.
Thanks in advance,
Tony

That is the default HP Pavilion and HDX laptop remote. It works on every computer with ENE infrared receiver. If you are not sure about which infrared receiver your MSI computer has, you can try it by installing an ENE CIR driver and testing if remote works. You find the driver from HP's driver page for every model that comes with a remote.

A:Allow remote control of my Player

I'm a little confused. Where are the movies stored that you want to play and what are you trying to play them with?

My setup is:

Movies are stored on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) hard drive. All that does is just share the folders and files on my network.
My computer actually plays the movies using the Kodi media player. It plays the movies on my HDTV via an HDMI cable.
My HDTV is not a smart tv, it is not connected to my network in any way, it just gets the video/audio from the computer.
Kodi has Ethernet remote control capability built in so I usually use an Android app on my phone (Yatse) to control the Kodi program running on my computer. My Android phone connects to my network via WiFi.

Not sure exactly what setup you are trying to make work, but maybe using Kodi on the computer might be your answer:

I'm looking for a (cheap) way to administer a client's machine using our respective broadband connections but have no idea how to go about it. Some guidance would be much appreciated.

Although the client does not have a static IP address, the dynamic one'll remain in place long enough for me to do what I need.

Their ADSL connection is via a modem/router connected into their network.

I did try a product, Fire Walker (http://www.nexusconcepts.com/firewalker/firewalker.php) but got nowhere with it. Although it recognised that the machine existed (by pinging the external IP address) it got no response to its connection attempts.

I'd set up the router to forward TCP requests on port 4021 (as required by Fire Walker) to the network server to try and take control of the server desktop but got no joy.

Does this sound like a sensible approach? Isn't it a bit dodgy leaving that port open to any TCP request anyway?

I suppose what I'd really like to do is login to the network remotely making use of the speed of broadband.

The server is running Windows 2000 Server.

UltraVNC from http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ should do the trick for you, it's what I use for a number of remote clients. You just need to open port 5900 on the remote computer's firewall.

Hi Everyone,

I just recently bought a new laptop, and decided to retire my old desktop PC to a different job. I wanted to hook it up to the TV and stereo and make a jukebox/DVD player out of it. Having said that, these are the system specs:
Windows XP Home
Pentium 4 2.40GHz
256 MB RAM
120 GB and 16 GB Hard Disks
USB 2.0 (4 ports)
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
Not the greatest system ever, I know, but it plays music at least (which is mainly what I wanted to use it for).

What I was really looking for is a remote control for this setup. I Googled around a bit and came up with a couple of options, namely the StreamZap PC Remote and a couple of others, including some that are for the Media Center PCs (like the one from Microsoft).

My questions are:

Has anyone used anything like this before?
How customizable are these devices?
Do any support Linux?

Thanks!

A:PC Remote Control - Any Suggestions?

Hello mattach, I am actually in the research process of finding a good pc remote also. I am building a home theatre PC running MCE 2005 and connecting it to a 50in plasma via DVI. The case I am using has a built in IR receiver on the front so I dont need the external IR receiver, but I think I am going to go with the Microsoft MCE one because thats what I will use most. I have read a few reviews and talked with others that have it and they say they like it a lot. Although Im not sure how well it would work if you dont have MCE2005. The specs on your option say it works well with winamp and musicmatch so you are good with tunes, also it says works with multimedia apps so your DVD program should be supported. My HTPC has a sound card with fibre optic option so thats how I will be hooking up my audio to my receiver, but a cheaper and quality option you might think about is just running a cable out from your headphone jack that converts to RCA's. You can find these at Radioshack for fairly cheap. Welp thats my ramblings. Good Luck. Let me know how it goes we might run into the same snags along the way. ---Trevor

Hello,

It's highly doubtful that your neighbor is remote controlling your PC and that something else is responsible for any of the odd behavior you are experiencing.

Are you experiencing any other symptoms?

I don't think that what I have in mind exists, but I will ask regardless. I know that there are remote controls available, but none that I know of that will permit one to navigate through the media library at a distance from the monitor, because the links and thumbnails are too small to be seen at a distance, even back when my eyesight was sharp (I remember those days).

What I was imagining was a remote with a video screen of it's own, kind of like a cellphone has, that could display my library using Movie Collector, so that I could lie in bed, and browse the videos, without having to go to the monitor and keyboard. Is there such a lazy man's device around somewhere?

If there is, you can be sure that the forum here will know about it. And here is the forums home page, with forums for every Audio/Video subject you can think of.

I've come here looking for recommendations for a good PC remote control. My Logitech remote has decided to stop working (the second logitech remote to do so) and I would like advice on what you guys think is the best PC remote control? I mainly use it for WMP remote control, volume control and web browsing. Oh and my computer is a Windows 8.1 machine.

A:PC Remote Control recommendations

I am using Vectir PC remote control for Android. This app turns your smartphone into a universal PC remote control. It works perfectly with my Samsung Galaxy Android phone. It also works with Windows Phone and BlackBerry. You also need the Vectir PC remote control server. It has remotes build in for WMP, volume, keyboard and mouse. Also VLC, Winamp, iTunes and PowerPoint if you need them. Good alternative to a new hardware remote control. It also lets you browse playlists, music libraries and your files which is something hardware remotes can't do.

Hello,

I thought i had a hijacked computer and so i reformatted. a couple of days later, i found that i was not able to access my own firewall settings and that, removing my backup drive (no operating system) caused symantec corporate to fail (it was looking for files it couldnt find. this was strange, so i took out both of those drives and put in another and formatted and installed xp and norton corporate edition again. now i am wondering if there is a way for the guy who gave me the corporate edition to be on my computer, hiding data loggers and bypassing my settings by way of some remote administration (he is a GIS guy for a company and manages their server). maybe something else is happening, i dont know. I can put the other drives in at another time and run hijack and startup
I ran hijack this and startuplist on the current hard drive. Is there anything there to worry about?

I changed batteries and the problem continues.

Any ideas to reach channels above 39 to record them?

The windows 2000 pro computer is within my intranet. Thank you in advance.

A:remote control question

You need to start the Windows Terminal Services service. You won't be taking control of the machine in exactly the same way it works on XP - but you will have a session on the remote machine. Don't remember if it's a 2K Server only thing though.

You also have the option of using a different protocol like VNC.

Hello,

I need some advice regarding unexpensive remote control software.

I am the typical guy who is always asked to help with computer stuff from family, relatives and friends. Sometimes I also need to guide people over the phone regarding their computer issues. Recently I heard about these remote control programs, which I believed were only available for static IP address connections.

I have helped people through instant messengers, and I was wondering if there is software that can be used to access & control their pc's on yahoo or msn messenger.

Hello oct714

My advice and free (looks complex but really is not)

Go here and get UltraVNC http://majorgeeks.com/UltrVNC_d4143.html

Do full install on your computer but not install as a service.

During 1st run or at end of install you will get an Admin Properties screen, on the left half way down delete out the dots and put in a simple password like govnc or similar that you will easily remember.

When you finish you will have 2 new Icons with the VNC Eyeball. One will be the Server Blue (using the instructions below you as helper will not use this one).

Rt click the Green Viewer and then create Shortcut, once this new Shortcut is made rename it "UltraVNC Viewer Listen" then rt click and chose properties.

Click into Target line. Then add a space and -listen.

It will look like this. "C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen

Dbl click this to run. Goes to system tray at bottom right. If the Firewall or Windows Defender pop up always allow this. Give it permission.

Apply OK!

Have them do the same install on their end. Including the same password.

Once installed have them to Run the Server. It also will load into the system tray.

Once it is loaded to the system on their end, you have them to Rt click the Tray Icon, click Add new Client the click the Host block and enter your IP number. They will be contacting you. Doing it this way avoids router and firewall protections and forwarding on their end.

I have a PC with a built-in infrared remote sensor. It is configured by default to control Windows Media Center, but I would like use it for other things.

My question is:
How can I:
A) Find out information about my device, i.e. what COM port this device uses, what kind of data it is sending/receiving, etc.
B) Monitor what signals my sensor is receiving, so that I may then map them to whatever functions I desire
C) In general, how can I monitor input and control output from this device?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

A:Infrared remote control

Most media center remotes are plug and play and the IR codes are built in.
Don't know how to monitor them and registry hacks are needed to directly change them.
However,I use inteliremote to remap my ati theater remote.

I am trying to remotely control my PC (mouse, keys) using my Android (4.1). Distance 3 meters

I downloaded a couple of Android apps (Craig Remote) and Remote Link, but I am not finding my way

Craig seems to be infinitely looking for an IP, and Remote Link does detect my PC as bluetooth, but seems to expect a key number generated in it.

I will probably set up something in W10 to allow my pc to be visible, but don't know what or how

Might I get some hints on how to accomplish that?

thanks

A:Remote control my PC W10 from Android

Hi Amc, welcome to the Ten Forums.

See this tutorial: RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums

Part Two of the above mentioned tutorial explains how to set up Windows 10 for remote desktop connection, Part Seven tells how to download and install the Microsoft Remote Desktop App for Android.

Please notice that the tutorial only applies to you if you have Windows 10 Pro, Education or Enterprise edition. Windows 10 Home does not support incoming Remote Desktop Connections, it can't be used as remote host.

Hi there, I'm a new user at the forums. Just stumbled upon it while looking for Vista tips and tricks, and I have to start with saying, thanks for what seems to be a brilliant community with helpful people. I'm going to enjoy my stay!

To my question, if you don't mind.
I just bought a new laptop, Asus G2sg, and it came with Vista Ultimate, x64. Im not really a gamer, but i wanted a computer that gives me the possibility. The main reason for using this computer is like a portable studio. Being a musican nowdays is so much fun with all the digital audio applications around. I know vista x64 isnt great for that, but it works great so far!
Anyway, it came with a windows media center remote, and i wont be using it. So, I thought to myself, is there a way to configure the media remote to send keystrokes, instead of the preprogrammed whatever it sends?

Lets say i wanted the "play" button on the remote to act as pressing spacebar, to start my Sequencer programs.. endless possibilities for me since im not physically infront of the computer when i record, usually sitting few feet away.
I hope my question is clear. I havnt found anything googling, or searching the forums. And i reckon most people use their remote for media center, so there might not be such a great demand for what Im looking for.

Thanks for a great forum!

/Chris

Here is a real brain twisting question

My boss has a house in spain , one day they are going to retire there and live there full time. She gave me a question today which is mind boggling but also very exciting to do if it works out.

she would like to have a pc installed at her home in spain connected to the pc she would like to install from one to several web cams to keep an eye on things every now and then whilst in the UK.
there is a guy out there that cares for the house so he could switch it on and off etc.. but she does not mind leaving it on permanent.
for a project of this scale we are looking at something reliable that wont mind being left on forever.

so guys what hardware / software ideas do you have.

i am only just thinking about it now , but I think a cool running processor
is needed one that wont mind spain temperatures , something that self boots when the power goes down and then returns. some way of accessing the net , she has dial up access in spain but may switch to broadband if req which sounds like the best option for always on connection , also we need automatic reconnection to the internet on reboot of course.
there may be some other way to do it but i have never looked into anything like this before so its very new ground for me.
also some way of switching web cams remotely would be good.
there could be some kind of remote desktop options for this , but my skills in RD are new/raw so i need practice in this.

I cant think of a way to get the computer ... Read more

[I'm not sure if this is the proper section for this question: Moderator, please move if this is the wrong place]

In order to help my computer-phobic internet-phobic mom keep her computer running well, I've decided it might be good to set up some kind of remote desktop control software on her computer.

I need something that will be stable and actually work solidly, also I need to be able to do things lilke run an AV scan sometimes, go in and change certain settings when necessary, also install software that she needs. These are the kinds of things she's intimidated by and just better for someone like me to take care of it for her.

Can anyone recommend something (preferably free) to do this with? It seems like there's lots of different services and programs out there now that do this kind of thing, but I was hoping to get some idea of ones that people have used and that actually work well.

I should mention that I'm in Asia and my mom lives near New York City.

Thanks for any tips.

A:Remote desktop control...?

Hey Billermo,

You can use the Windows Remote Desktop for what you want. It takes some setting up as you want to do it over the internet, but that would work. At work I use either GoToAssist or Remote Desktop. Though, we pay for GoToAssist. That is really all I have ever used or needed to use. Someone else may be able to offer up other products though.

Hope this helps,

I'm running SpyWare Terminator on my PC and each evening when it runs it finds the threat "PC Remote Control". When Spyware Terminator tries to remove it it tells me at first to try and remove the software by way of it's own uninstall application, but there is none. When I select for Spware Terminator to continue it informs me that it could not remove PC Remote Control and ask that I reboot and run Spyware Terminator again. When I do, it does not detect the PC Remote Control application, but it will when it runs again as a part of it's scheduled task in the evening. For my work I log into my secured network thru a Cisco VPN application and then remotely access my desktop at work using either Microsofts Remote Desktop Connection or Radmin Viewer 3.0 remote software. Neither of these I think are the cause of this critical threat which keeps popping up when I run Spyware Terminator. I pasted a recent log file from HijackThis in hopes that someone can rid my PC of the PC Remote Control application. Of course if you think it might be related to my remote work applications I guess I will just have to ignore it. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

9 downloadsHi, new to the forum. Woke up this morning (4am dog walk) and found my computer with my Family Lawyer software running and wordpad running. In my sleepiness, I figured that the enter key must have been depressed on the desktop and it opened it or my wife was nosing around. No biggie. Later in the day, I opened firefox to google a recipe for xmas eve dinner then walked away. A couple of hours later, I sit down at the pc and at the same search page for the recipes, I notice a strange email address logged in to the google site such as sg****@gmail.com. I ask wife and sitter and everyone else and no one touched the pc. So, I disconnected from net and ran malwarbytes and norton with only cookies found. No other problems. However, yesterday, I installed ifranview to open a picture that was used with a mac. Could I have installed a hacked version of ifranview on my pc which opened it to some slime ball in another country? The thing that does not make sense to me...someone goes thru all the trouble hack a pc, search and find family lawyer and open it to see what I am worth and all that, then he uses my browser to login to a gmail account? Doesn't make sense to me. Unless he put some silent smtp program on to send out spam through a gmail account and windows still had it logged in? Any one have ideas? Would love to be able to run a scan to make sure all clean, otherwise, I'll just nuke, reformat, and rein... Read more

A:Hacker remote control PC?

The TCPView log looks clean. I agree it does not make sense. My guess is the programs were opened by accident. It happens all the time. Someone puts something on the keyboard and boom, programs launch.

Are you positive the sg***@ account does not belogn to someone who may have access to the computer?

Also what AV scan did you use?

Hey, Im currently rebuidling a friends computer. I am installing vista and adding software for him.

Is there any software I can add that will let me take control of the computer when he is back at home and I am at my house?

I dont want him to be able to see the program starting up all the time because I may never need to use it and he doesnt want me to install it. However I know in a few weeks time he will be on the phone asking me to deploy Logmein IT Reach to him and I really cant be bothered. I want to set it up now so I can control it whenever I need to. I have also installed a hidden admin account to use.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Hidden Remote control tools

LogMeIn is about as hidden as I can think of, sorry. I guess there might be a setting somewhere to hide that little message that says 'This computer is being remotely controlled...'.

Otherwise, you could set up some sort of VPN connection to his house, and use it to connect to a Remote Desktop session using the account you set up for yourself. However, unless he's running a server version of Windows, his screen will be locked while you're connected. There's a hack available somewhere that lets you use multiple sessions (so he stays logged on), but it's a system DLL that gets modified, so it will likely be replaced from future updates.

Thought here might be the best to ask this as I cannot remember the full details of how it all worked..

About a year ago I was installing some software onto a server & had some problems so i asked a dealer of mine (business) to help out and somehow he managed to remote desktop my computer simply by me going onto a website he gave me

Does anyone know any more details on what this is etc? I know its very vaigue but thats about as much as i remember as the company has now gone bust i cant contact them to find out what they used but it seemed pretty good as then it saved any software having to be installed on the other computer. Which appeals to the company i now work for as we want to start covering remote desktop support

A:Remote Desktop/Control via website

Normally I don't give links to applications that I know nothing about and that cost (since I mostly help non-business users), but this product seems to meet your needs.

I have tried UltraVNC, but not the SingleClick addon.

Alright just bought the Audigy 2 Platnium today, pretty happy with it cept for the remote. I was wondering if there are other programs than the creative labs ones sent with it that will work with the remote. Like maybe theres a patch for WINAMP?

Thanks for any help....

Okay, I've got a really weird problem here. My computer came with a remote control for use with Windows Media Center. I love the thing to death and use it all of the time.

It works great most of the time, but on the weekends when I'm trying to use it in the morning the signal tends to repeat. (for example, if I want to use it to turn up the volume by 1 I press the button once and it goes up, but then the volume won't stop rising until it hits 50) This happens for anything I press.

I've never had this issue in the afternoon or at night, so I'm very tempted to say it has something to do with the mornings? I've got no idea why that would be the case though. Can anyone give me some information if my hunch is correct, or what might be causing this and what I can do to stop it?

I'd really love to be able to wake up on the weekends and watch some TV or listen to music without ever having to leave my bed.

I have a problem with a computer I bought at a yard sale. It has windows xp pro on it. I don't have any disk with it. I got it all set up and online and was loading my anti-virus protection through my server and then it froze up. So I ended up uninstalling it. Then the problem began. I get this box coming up that says Remote Control Agent at the top of the box, then it says, Cannot initialize the network. the requested protocol may not be installed. My question is, did I possibly uninstall it when I did the anti-virus. And since I don't have a disk to install it again, can I take windows xp pro off and put windows xp home edition on it. If so, can you give me step by step instructions on how to do this as I don't have any knowledge of how to even start. Thank you so very much.

I'm looking for some remote control software to connect to remote PCs which will be attended by "beginners"
I have tried the following
Crossloop.com - but user needs to create an account and i wanted a simple user interface, as I say the users will very much be beginners
Zolved.com Used a couple of times now and meets the easy use - but keeps losing the connection.
TeamViewer.com looks like it should be OK - only found today and not yet used

Any other FREE suggestions

have you tried logmein? Or ultravnc?

logmein does require an account, however. Do you have the ability to set it up on their machines?

Can you please help me and tell me what is the problem?

Perhaps, you cannot use RPD in Vista Home Premium

Enable Remote Desktop Connection on Vista Home Premium

I recomend use other software like Remote Office Manager

I am looking for a remote control that can operate my Pc (not remote desktop control) in the same way i operate my DVD player and TV.

The remote should be compatible with Win 7 and must be RF (as against IR)

Please let me know where i can buy one (online)

I am aware of the ATI Remote Wonder II but it does not fit my requirements

Any others??

A:is there a hardware RF PC remote control that will work on win 7

Have a look at the following, if you are specific on RF.

Amazon.com: Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard: Electronics - New (Read the user reviews)

Lenovo Outlet - Lenovo Multimedia Remote with keyboard Scratch & Dent - Discounted Laptops, Cheap Laptops, Refurbished Laptops, Discounted Desktops, Cheap Desktops, Refurbished Desktops (Read the user reviews @ Lenovo - United States also if you want New straight from the horse's mouth. )

If you can go with IR , then a good one EZ Commander - An innovative I/O solution to replace PC remote/mouse/keyboard/presenter It has a twin IR emitter for positive and wide-angle operation.(you have to search whether it is available with any other vendor. )

These are the ones I would recommend based on my personal experience. I have both and use the Lenovo most.
