Infected and not sure anymore what to do

Q: Infected and not sure anymore what to do

The past few days my PC has been infected (either by an obvious fake mail I opened by mistake or by some random website I visited) and since then everytime I start firefox the browser works slow especially in google. Sometimes a website is opened with a fake scanner telling me its scanning for threats, other times I get redirected to other websites (who won't display any content once they've loaded) when I click on websites that I usually visit daily through google search.

Since then I've installed Ad-Aware, Superantispyware, MalwareByes Anti-Malware and scanned with all three and each one found various trojans which they quarantined and which I removed. I also searched with Nod32 and it found nothing at all.

I did some more research on my problem and found out that I might be infected with Vundo but this is just a wild guess. However I did a search with Spybot - Search & Destroy and it did find a Vurtomondo (or if it was called something else..I read that its like Vundo) and removed it and rebooted my PC but none of this worked.

All programs have the latest updates but none of these were done in safemode. I downloaded a program called VundoFix and it found one threat (when I used it in safe mode) and rebooted the PC but the problem didn't get solved.

One common problem to Vundo infection was a security hole in Java-related applications so I uninstalled these and reinstalled them but the problem is still there. I cleaned my registry as well to see if it would make any change but no change at all. I'm out of ideas of what to do

Help would be highly appreciated.
P.S

I would also like to add that my PC has been working really slow lately (sometimes it can take over 15 seconds just to open a .txt file)...while this could of something else (lack of space in my harddrive perhaps) it occured around the same time I got infected...so its most likely because of the infection.

How can I confirm that after I "think" I have cleaned out my infected computer (I received pop-ups from noted infections) that I actually have removed all infections without formatting and re-installing the OS?

Thank you for looking.

Hi, I've recently had the Win32/Alureon.F virus on my Windows 7 PC. My kaspersky kept on blocking cmd.cfxxe aswell. I've tried to remove the virus several times with different scanners (MSE,Malware and bytes, Search and destroy) and all of them either removed the virus but after restart the virus was still there. I had to open all those programs in safemode aswell because it wouldn't open on normal boot. Finally I think I removed the virus using TDSSkiller along with comobofix ( Tech repair helped me with combofix) I just want to make sure my computer is clean as I do have some sensitive information on it. I know I was successfully infected because I received a few emails asking if I wanted to recover my account which I did not request. I changed most of my passwords on a different computer. I just want to make sure I'm clean. Any help would be great. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I picked up some nasty malware somewhere along the line. I'm running Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3, System restore will not work- i can select a date to restore from, the first time I tried it restarted and gave me an error message now when I select a date to restore from and hit next, nothing happens. I try to start Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 (which should be running at startup but isn't anymore) and I get an hourglass for 1 or 2 seconds then nothing happens. Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes will not update, it tells me to check my internet connection even though i'm currently online. Also, when clicking on search links in google it takes me to random websites which I did not click on.

Off a fresh startup, I'm left with the following processes running-

Hi, my computer has recently been infected with multiple trojans, mainly the vundo. I've read other posts and took the initiative to run spybot, malwarebytes, ad aware, atf cleaner, and super antispyware. So far everything seems to have been removed but is there a way that I can make sure my computer is clean? I'm pretty paranoid about using sites where my personal information is needed after getting all of these infections. Any help is much appreciated!!!

Hello jwtcdoc,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer

HHmmmmm.....I'd never seen that page before. Quite honestly I was horrified when I read through it, and very glad you and your computer survived it.

There is an entry I'm concerned about that's visible in your log, but I will not have you download anything else. You've been through enough. If you still have them, I'd love to see the ComboFix report, and the MBAM report, please.

Thanks,

Hello, I am new to this website. I have heard many good things about it from friends and discussion forums from Norton.

I have Norton Internet Security for my laptop and it is also installed into two other laptops for my siblings. I've noticed that lately I am unable to use Quick Scan and Full System Scan on my laptop. Every time I click on Quick Scan and/or Full System Scan, nothing happens; it doesn't work. I have to always use the Norton Removal Tool to remove Norton from my laptop and then re-download and install Norton again. This allows me to scan my computer again but then the next day, Norton will not scan anymore until I remove it and re-install all over again. I've noticed that this has started to happen to one of my sibling's computer too.
I am unsure if this is a technical error from the actual Norton product or if there is a very deep virus in my laptop that Norton missed in the scanning process. I have also used the Repair Tool (Norton Power Eraser) twice and every time it says that my Norton product is updated and my computer is fine.

My computer is the Microsoft Windows 8 with a 64-bit operating system. The version is 6.2.9200. I never had a previous security product system, I've always had Norton.

If someone can help me, I will be greatly appreciated and grateful. Thanks!

Okey, got my vista to boot, things i noticed that had been modified lately etc.

D9EA.tmp
msonpppr.dll

Tho while i did that i didn't had an idea to storage or keep backup of them, looked after now that msonpppr.ddl is somekinda microsoft onenote file but too late to check if it was infected or not, and no idea about that *.tmp file too.

------- but now..

/media/disk/Users/l2pn4p-v/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5/(sub folder)

virus downloaded itself to IE temp and

/media/disk/Windows/System32/drivers/

iaStor.sys

it modified my sata/raid drivers , think it failed to infect it properly since i'm quite sure they dont make such viruses to annoy users with bsods.

Well now my windows is running and i got backup of that infected iaStor.sys and orig virus *.exe if anyone interested of analyzing it... And i was still wondering if it left some crap on my registry cuz i kinda no idea what it might chanced in there... Would be nice if anyone could check it up and i can make hijack log later and upload it if there is anyone interested.

Hi,
I have some kind of infection on my computer. I have a windows XP home edition. and I only use firefox. i have a wireless connection and two other laptops in my computer that i constantly use (all windows XP also).
The signs that I see of it are:
1- many times when I click on links the website tries redirecting to somewhere else. firefox however stops it from doing that (i get a little toolbar on the top that says website tried to redirect, and it asks me if i want to redirect it)
2- i have a little magnifying glass that shows up in the lower right hand tool bar- date/time area. when i left click on it it and a box shows up. the title is 'search settings' and then it says 'prevent unknown programs from changing your default search settings without your knowledge' and then it has possibilites for IE and Firefox, with two options. the first option 'notify me first before allowing changes to my settings' and the second option is 'allow programs to change my settings'. the second option is the one that is checked off, and the settings cant be changed at all, i can only see it but i cant change it. sometimes one anti virus or another will be able to remove this magnifying glass (which i pretty much use as an indicator if my pc is clean or not) but the next time i restart my computer it will be back.

what have i done:
1- i used to run lavasoft adaware, symantecs and avast. they would be able to remove the 'magnifying glass', and each... Read more

Hi everyone,A few days ago, I suddenly couldn't update AVG anymore. It always gives me an error, telling me the connection with the server failed. I also noticed that I can't connect Limewire (P2P program) anymore and opening movie streams in Windows Media Player doesn't work anymore either.I searched some forums for a solution and I found someone with a similar problem, who also told he couldn't execute the "cmd" and "regedit" commands anymore. I tried it on my own computer and I can't run those things anymore either. When I try executing them, the explorer goes all weird and shuffles the program bars on the task bar.I've manually downloaded the latest updates for AVG, installed them and did a full scan, that didn't find a thing. I also ran AdAware, which said I had some malware, which I removed with it. Then I also ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, which found some more malware, so I removed it, rebooted my pc, but the problems still exist...I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem, because it's really anoying...Here's my HijackThis log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 20:37:26, on 11/05/2009Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16827)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\At... A:Please help, i can't take this anymore

Hi, welcome to TSF.

I'm currently at work so my assitance will be brief:

I want you to search for these files on your computer and make note of if they exist. If they do, we'll need to delete them in Safe Mode:

Enable the Viewing of Hidden Files, and then search:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\netstat.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ping.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\regedit.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\taskkill.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tasklist.com
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tracert.com

Reboot your computer to Safe Mode and then delete any of those found above, includining this folder:

C:\Program Files\winupdates\

while in Safe Mode run HJT and fix:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

Reboot and report back with a fresh HJT scan.

I've been trying to get rid of this problem:

When my computer goes Idle my Connection drops.
I Just closed Firefox and my connection dropped.
It drops randomly and constantly ( weird huh ) every 20 minutes or random browser closes.
It happened about 4 or 5 months ago, then went about 2 or 3 months with out the problem, now its back!

My equipment:
HP Pavilion Desktop. Vista (forget the model)
Westell 2200 Modem
Linksys WRT54G2 Router (i don't use wireless)
Also i Use a wired Xbox 360

Here is the thing though:
When my PC drops connection I am still able to get online and play with my friends on Xbox Live, So I don't think it is the Modem or Router, it has to be a cord or my computer or something.. Anyway I'm getting really tired of it because every time i want to use my PC I have to reset my router to restore the connection. Anything helps!

P.S. Everything is Wired at ALL times and it Still says its connected but i cant get online, And when i go into my Status it says 356 Million Bytes received, i don't know if that means anything.

Hopefully someone can help me out because I am a novice when it comes to computer skills. In the last few weeks or so my internet has been acting up and keeps crashing on me witha message reading that I have had some serious error and needs to close, allowing me to report it to microsoft. I ran AVG 8.0 (Free edition)and Spydot. They seemed like they got rid of things and everyone was going okay but my internet was still acting up.

Now, in the last few days that problem has gone away but I believe have malware on my computer. I keep getting pop ups from avg saying trojans like Vundo.FJ and BHO.HYT are on my computer and should be fixed, which AVG supposably does.

Currently, I keep getting new windows of internet explorer opening, kind of like popups, that I never did anything to that are from really random sites. I am not sure how that helps but I figured I would throw it in here.

From my little knowledge of computers I used "run" with msconfig and noticed that in my startup it says that I have these three things that I know should not be there. They are:
1. ruyopaku
2. tukuhegu
3. hagijifa or metadomo (It keeps changing between the two for some reason)
They are all rundll32.exe, whatever that means.

This is what I did to get rid of it, besides running my two spy programs, so hopefully I didn't screw anything up.
1. I used "run" an went to services.msc to stop Backgroudn Intelligence
2. I used "run" to look at the registery edit... Read more

I don't know where to post this now. I have no clue anymore what is wrong with this system. With the money I have wasted into this thing I could have bought a top of the line gaming rig by now. But now its too late to just pull out and leave this thing alone.

Anyways suddenly I am getting this problem(problem number 156?).

This is how it started: I updated my video card drivers to the latest ATI drivers 9.12. I started playing the game DIRT2 for a couple hours. I finally closed down DIRT2 and suddenly I was getting this problem: The PC would get a split second freeze every couple of seconds. Along with this split second freeze is coupled with this High Pitched Looping sound like when a program locks up and you get that looping sound until you can close out the program. This freeze up is basically noticable in the form of the mouse freeze up for a split second, then it moves again and then split second freeze again.

Ok, that is just the start of the problems. I am also suddenly having random issues with connecting to the internet via my wireless. Before this problem occured I was able to connect flawlessly. My wireless adapter will be displayed as "Connected" as always but I cannot open a web browser page. My windows live was still connected for 10 minutes one time while I was trying to figure why I can't connect to firefox. Then suddenly windows live crashed!

I thought that my problems were coming from the faulty hard drive that I jus... Read more

As the title says,

Where can I find XP these days?

I'm wanting to put it on the HTPC I'm building, simply because it's cheaper than Win7. Would prefer XP Pro for the IR support, but not neccesary. I'm working with a hauppauge HVR-1600-MC, it supports XP SP2 up through 7x64, so it's just a matter of price....

I know i could find Vista dirt cheap, but i wouldn't want it for the same reason as the next guy.

At the same time, I don't know if the board (GA-MA78LMT-S2) is supported by XP?

A:Where to buy XP anymore?

It is very expensive as it stands.

Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2: Amazon.co.uk: Software

Just type into google 'Buy XP pro' thousands of options.

Hello, I was giving my computer a general tidy up and it somehow caught WIN32\Gaelicum.A. This prevented me from doing anything but accessing safe mode. So i followed a couple of guides and through safe mode managed to remove the virus.
Overjoyed, I rebooted to normal mode and proceeded to log in. However after entering my password and attempting to log in i was logged straight out without so much as seeing my desktop. I also tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del twice and trying to log in via administrator. However the same thing happened.
So I thought right something has been added to my startup folder to log me out as i log in so i went to safe mode to try and remove it in that. But the same thing happened in that.
In a last ditch attempt to remove the suspected script from my startup i loaded up my Ubuntu live CD and accessed the folder through that. Only to find it empty of everything but the desktop.ini file.
I should say i have XP Home and no XP install CD or recovery CD because my OS came installed on the laptop from the manufacturer. And the recovery partition is also corrupted somehow so i cant restore. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated as although I have all my important files backed up and i could use Ubuntu for most of my needs, I need access to XP as I am working on a project for school which needs to be completed by the start of term in august and there is no equivalent software available on Ubuntu.

TIA,
Michael

Hi and welcome

Sorry for delay. we're quite busy here.

Bad news I'm afraid....

Win32/Gaelicum.A is a nasty file infector. It is also network aware and can spread to other machines on the network.
Even though your antivirus program detects it and can quarentine/heal some of the files it will be near impossible to clean up entirely.

I suggest to take this machine off the network entirely untill you can either clean it or you re-install everything. Your other machines should be thourally checked by a couple good virus scanners too.

With a file infector such as this the only way I would trust the system is to do a full format/reinstall of your operating system and all your programs.
Even if antivirus can heal many; often the file is corrupted beyond repair and wont work after virus code is removed. You cannot even trust your antivirus program as parts of it will be infected as well.

I do not suggest backing up any of your programs because this virus looks for and infects all executables on all drives. Your backups will need to come from known good cds or dvds or re-downloaded from the internet.

Your documents, mp3s & pictures should be fine to back up.

Sophos description (they have different name)

If you don't have the resorces to format/re-install we can try & fix but I cannot guarenty our success or system integrety afterward.

Hello everybody,

This is my first post here, I got into a situation with my computer that I don't know anymore how to go on... hope I can get some help here.

It started when I was searching for a little freeware to change my desktop wallpaper automatically. After being redirected few times I found and downloaded "Desktop Wallpaper Timer 1.6.9.exe" (don't remember the web address, I was not attentive). I've scanned it with NOD32 and no threads were found.

After I tried to run it, a disaster began.

First I've noticed the message in the taskbar: "Your security center service is turned off" when I tried to turn it on again it was not possible. Says simply the security center service can't be started. I opened regcleaner by jouni vuorio to remove the new thing, under "software" was written that the FirstRRRun has been installed.

I removed it and than:
- NOD32 simply dissapeared - message: The program doesn't exist
- The same story with Spybot Search&Destroy
- Same with Registry Mechanic
- Not able anymore to connect the internet: "wireless wizard can not be started" (I'm writing this from another computer)

I tried to reinstall NOD32 - Not possible: Message "106 Error Occured while extracting archive file"

Can not reinstall spybot either

With another computer I've searched for AV programs like AVG free, Kaspersky trial, F-prot trial... None of them can be installed. All give messag... Read more

A:Don't know anymore...

Seems the problem has been resolved. I've used no-need-to-install AV Dr.Web. It found and removed 2 worms Win32.HLLM.Beagle. After that I was able to reinstall all programs and fix all other problems.

Here's the new log

Hello Everybody!

First of all, sorry about my English!

So.. I have a super huge problem. My computer was working fine for like 2 years until Sunday. That's when I checked my computer and saw a message: Windows was unable to save file: D:/... etc.. (I'm sorry I didn't write it down.). It froze down. I couldn't do anything. I had to Reset the computer, but since that time the computer is unable to see my D: hard drive, which is a Seagate.

You should know my configuration:
I have a Compaq Presario SR1911X with 2 hard drives. One is for the Windows XP: Samsung SP2004C, the other one is for all my data (photos, music, emails, everything!): Seagate ST3200826AS. This is the one which is not working.

I took my computer apart and tried to change the cabels, just to see if it's a cabel problem. It's not. And I can hear that the HDD has power because it gives me the sound.. But the only problem, that the computer doesn't recognize it anymore.

Please Please Please people, help me!!!! I don't want to loose all my data, expecially my photos. Also, I don't have the money to get it to a data recovery comptany.

Thank you!

A:Can't see my HDD anymore!! Please Help me!!

It sounds like the hard drive died. Good thing you backed everything up, huh? Data you don't have at least 2 copies of is data you don't want to keep.

Is the drive even spinning? Did it make any noise before quitting? If there is no access at all, a data recovery company may be the only answer. But they can cost 1000's of dollars, too.

You could try some hard drive tests if they will run on it.

Free Hard Drive Testing Applications:

Manufacturer's Tests
Victoria for DOS
Victoria for Windows (Both versions of Victoria are among the best and most thorough tests available.)
HD Tune
CheckDisk 1.03 (Marks bad sectors as unusable.)
HDAT2 (Diagnostics and bad sector recovery)
MHDD Low-level Diagnostics
Bootable Hitachi Drive Fitness Test Floppy or CD Image (works on most drives)

Hi there,

I have an old Dell XPS M1530 and wanted to salvage the hard drive, buy an enclosure and use it as an external hard drive. This is what i typed in:

select disk 0
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
format fs=ntfs quick

Do i need to do anymore? or can i just put it in an enclosure and use it as a hard drive? and will i have the 320 GB on the drive to use?

A:Do i need to do anymore?

I think you are OK.

But I'd go back into diskpart and look at the results.

Probably with these commands

List disk (should show disk 0)
Select disk 0
List part (should show partition 1)
Select part 1

Do you see a part 1 with the expected size?

If so, you are good to go, but you can always recheck in Windows Disk Management after you get it connected.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you have to assign a drive letter in diskpart.

It all started when I was defragging last night. I got a couple BSOD's while doing the defrag but idiotically I just ignored them, restarted my pc and continued to defrag. After the third BSOD restart is where I died inside. When starting my pc, after the Windows XP loading screen it goes to a black screen and stays there. I try to go into safe mode but it freezes when loading drivers. I tried to do a repair with the Windows XP Setup CD but after it loads the drivers it goes to a BSOD with the following STOP message 0x0000007B. I've searched online for help and have used many utility cd's and diagnostic tools with no success (P.S. one of the utilities is a live cd and it BSOD's when starting up). There's nothing wrong with the RAM or Hard Drive, the partition table and boot sector are fine, the MBR and MFT are fine. I plugged my HDD into another computer as a secondary drive and I can explore the contents of my HDD (while using the primary drive in that computer). I suspect there may be a problem with a controller because I put a backup hard drive in my computer and tried installing Windows XP but I get the BSOD again; it's really weird because I used a SATA connection for my original drive and an IDE connection on my backup drive (is this a northbridge/southbridge issue?!). Is there any way to fix this (preferably without formatting or buying any new parts)?! And if there really is something wrong with a part and/or controller, why did none of the diagnostic tools recognize ... Read more

A:Can't use pc anymore?!?!

well there is a technical way but I doubt you're up for because it uses linux however, a simple way is to reinstall the version of windows but without formatting the harddrive this should fix the issue. you will gain access to the computer as if it were normal you can backup your documents, music, etc. and then reformat the computer.

I have tech service through the ISP I have. I noticed that Chrome was running kind of sluggish and figured, since it was there, I contacted tech support. The tech removed Malwarebyte, Super Anti-Spyware, Advanced System Care, two registry programs I had and Baidu browser and Baidu Speed up. He said almost everything could be done with programs already available in Windows 10. He tried to show me but he was so darn fast I could hardly keep up. I told him among all the programs only Super Anti-Spyware found 470 tacking cookies! He said that it was OK and they were harmless and I could access them from another Windows cleanup selection. Are all these programs that are 3rd party out there junk? When I used them I found so many problems, weaknesses and vulnerabilities. But to have them be deemed mostly useless, he did say MOSTLY useless, I am really confused. Been messing with computers for over 20 years and always used 3rd party Virus, spy ware and optimization tools regularly. Are they just programs that cue into certain functions of Windows and isolate them to make a program that is already in Windows but makes it sort of a short cut or are they really valuable? I am reinstalling a couple of things the tech deleted whether he liked it or not. As for the rest, I just don't know.

Here is my problem. Back in '07 I bought a box set of DVD concerts. Got them home they played fine. This was on an XP-SP2 system using the nero of that year. XP crashed and I had to do a complete reload of the OS. Since then these DVDs do not work. I am now using Windows 7. The DVDs are DVD-9 region code PAL4. I have software[AnyDVD] that overcomes the region code but both my DVD drives won't even acknowledge the disks are there. I have a Samsung 16x dvd player model SD-616E and a Benq DVD/RW model LS DW1655. I am confused because I distictly remember watching these vid, its not like DVDs erase over time. Anything that can help is appreciated.

Since I installed Microsoft usb Wheel Mouse Optical I can't pan with the mouse wheel button any more. This mainly affects me in using Autocad but the problem is also evident in other Windows applications. For example in My Documents/My Pictures I used to be able to pan the images around by pressing the mouse wheel button, now I can't.In both this and autocad I just get a weird double headed arrow within a circle, moving the mouse scrolls the page up or down vertically but wont pan.Its really odd.
I guess its a driver thing, but in control panel/system/device manager/mouse I get a whole list of driver files for the mouse,How do I know which one is 'active'?Or, how does Windows know which one to use?I tried reinstalling drivers for the mouse from a Windows 98se disc but now I appear to have 2 hid compliant mice instead of one, each with a load of driver files and I still can't pan.It wouldnt matter but in Autocad its its a real bugbear. There are no solutions that work on the autodesk website. Im using Windows Me.....any ideas anyone? Thanks.
Oh, my old non optical usb mouse and PS2 mouse now exhibit the fault,so I cant go back.....

Hi! When I got my new ZBook few days ago it had Win7, some drivers and a lot of HP bloatware preinstalled. It also featured extremely loud speakers. After lots of updated drivers from HP Support Assistant the max noise level drastically decreased. I checked everywhere (right click on sound->playback, mixer) and everything is on 100%. I also tried disabling sound enhancements and it had no effect what so ever (which is strange since it features B&O sound enhancements). Now my comp is running Win10 and some more updated drivers and it's still the same. So please help me get the amazing speakers performance back. Best regards.

Some of my Cd's have suddenly refused to open on my system, they are all my own burnt copies of Jpeg images, some are ok others not! I have tried them in the DVD & Cd Rom Drives.
I have cleaned the drive and discs, my system tries to read the cd's, which causes all other programmes to freeze, I can't get into 'my computer' or 'run' mode, it all locks up until I eject?
I have tried one of the Cd's on another PC, and it works fine.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
The only recent changes to my Pc are tweaks to enable Microsoft Combat Flight sim to work better, could this have caused this problem?

would you post the following tests

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted

The fact that Utorrent is in the list could explain why you are having troubles.
That is where viruses and things can come from.

Run as Administrator
type sfc /scannow<enter>

Hi all ,just wondering if the reason i cant reinstall my W7 64bit HP from my USB is because i had deleted the 100mb partition??
Which contains boot files and other needed files(i think)

i tried three attempts but all failed
finally i did a clean install from the dvd and it worked

The fail said
Failure to find system partition???

And if so ,why didnt a clean install make another 100mb partition when i reinstalled it??

thanks

A:Cant reinstall from USB anymore??

I just recently did a clean install of Home Premium x64. I deleted the 100 mb hidden partition and my windows 7 system partition C, while leaving my second data partition D alone. Windows 7 rebuilt the 100 mb hidden partition all on its own along with the primary C partition. I initially told it to use all of the unallocated space and it prompted me that it might have to create the 100 mb hidden system partition, and it did create it. My disk structure is exactly the way it was before I started.

EDIT: I did the above install from a USB thumb drive and deleted the above mentioned partitions during the install process. I've also done USB thumb drive installs to a new empty hard drive without problems. I've done it partitioning the drive, and just leaving it whole, and the 100 mb hidden partition was created each time. I don't know what happened in your case, something must have glitched during your install.

Okay, so here's the deal. This afternoon, I started doing backups, because i was going to reformat, as well as switch from Vista back to XP. It was taking a while (I have lots of games) so I switched the ethernet cable that was going in the modem from the one that goes into computer 1 (mine) to the one from computer 2, so my dad could use the internet. When I was done, I plugged mine back in, but the internet wasn't working. Oh well, I thought, maybe it'll work when I reformat.

Blablabla, I reformat and install XP. But now the internet still won't work. I've tried with two different cables, plus the one that computer 2 uses. When the modem is connected to my computer, the lights for "Power" and "DSL" come on, but not "Ethernet" and a flashing "Activity", like it does when it's connected to the 2nd computer. I'm pretty sure this means it's just not connected to the computer (#1)... Except it is.

Since it's not something with the cables, and the modem works fine for the 2nd computer, what exactly could be the problem? I have a new motherboard. I got it like a week or two ago. Plus it was working even today.

Thanks in advance

A:Can't connect anymore

Same problem with an inspiron coincidentally.

The firewall (kerio) shows info going in and out.

Both firefox and expl give page not found.

The only time I saw this was when my firewall was blocking communication.

I turned off kerio, and even uninstalled, and even know that sometimes registry stuff from firewalls still linger. Had that problem with Norton in the past.

I can't get anything on the net when I'm off line though.

Any other troubleshooting ideas for an offline laptop?

I can't ping either. When I do the ipconfig, it flashes for a sec and disappears.

and I'm using 2k, so no sys restore.

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

When I plug my ipod in to my computer a message pops up saying USB device not recognized,I dont know what to do anymore. I'm really sad. TEll me if you need a hijack this report

A:Can't Run Ipod Anymore.

Before we go chasing spyware, uninstall I-Tunes and download / install the latest version. I also find it handy to have the ipod in the dock or plugged in to some power source before attaching it to a PC. Also, check with Apple for firmware updates to your ipod AFTER you get it recognized once again.

I had a problem once with my 40 gig i-pod being stuck in Device Mode (acts like a hard disk instead of an MP3 player) and I had to go through a long troubleshooting FAQ at apple.com. If you can play music on yours, you don't have that problem.

Hi

I have a Toshiba L70-B 12z.
Couple of months ago I did experience some problems while gaming (it did crash a lot).
I brought it by the shop who sent it back to toshiba to repair.
They replaced the motherboard because apparently 2 of the 4 cpu's where broken.

When I did get it back I found out my internal speakers weren't working anymore. So I sent it back ones more.
This time, the 2 internal speakers weren broken (how, I don't get) and also replaced. Mind you, it is a 1,5 year old notebook.

When I got it back this time, DTS sound was not functional anymore.
I get the error 'Failed to find apo endpoint'.
I did try to uninstall DTS en re?nstall, but when tries to re?nstall I would get the error 'This product does not support DTS-processing'.
I tried various DTS drivers (older and newest) without succes.

It's very frustrating, since before '**** started hitting the fan' everything worked perfectly fine. DTS sound was working perfectly, and I really liked the sound. I also tried a lot of internet solutions. Re?nstalling windows 10, going back to windows 8.1 (since my laptop originally came with windows 8.1), uninstall, re?nstall and updating sound drivers (from realtek), install the audio enhancement driver, updating BIOS via servicestation, all the recommended drivers for my laptop, all the windows updates. Nothing works.

I really don't know what I can do more for making DTS work again.
I hope someone here can help me.

I've had Vista for years now, and I re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed it about 3 months ago. I am getting BSOD just about everytime I go on. I can be surfing, bsod....playing online...bsod....COD WAW zombies online and either bsod, or the system crashes/freezes/reboots. It is annoying to say the least. My question is....go back to XP?.....Go to Windows 8 (I have it at work and it's pretty nice)....7?.....I have upgraded drivers and at my wit's end...I am even toying with maybe using Linux / Ubuntu....I am willing to try anything!

A:Can't take BSOD anymore

Well...the first question that I would ask myself...why would I think...that a change of the O/S is going to to change anything...for a longer period of time than a clean install?

Since system problems may originate with hardware...or the file system...or programs installed...or malware...why should I see a switch of O/S as a "solution"?

If you want to try to investigate possible causes of your problems, please do the following.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Well, I thought I might actually try my hand at installing my Windows 7 x64 Pro student upgrade from Digital River finally today after I found the iso.

All has gone to hell.

First, I tried installing 7 to a second drive then activating it. Got the whole this license is for upgrades not clean installs.

So, I try some of the workarounds, which just ended up blue screening my computer and could no longer boot and a repair did nothing.

I tried installing 7 over my Vista install on the other Hard Drive, it failed during install and I had a half done 7 install on my Vista, which screwed up my MBR.

I tried reinstalling vista then installing 7 again (Note this is Vista 32bt HP to W7 64bit Pro, so no upgrades). Vista would just blue screen during install, each time I tried it would give a different error.

Now, I have two blank drives, so I try installing 7 back onto it like I had before, now the install fails every time with the error oxC0000005 in the installing features phase.

Seems that I am SOL?

This is a computer that has been running fine for the past year and never blue screened.

A:Can't install anything anymore.

If the registry edit workaround to clean install Win7 upgrade is failing, it may have been incorrectly done which could also cause the bluescreen.

Boot from your Win7 installer and wipe the HDD using Custom>Advanced tools, then if necessary install without giving key - It might take the key when booting from installer since regedits would only affect the OS and you are no longer in the OS>

When you get to the desktop, if it has refused your key up to this point, run a repair (Upgrade) install over your new install from the desktop, which will allow you to give key and activate when online.

Here is the way to burn the student download if you haven't already: Make bootable iso from student d/l

Hi everyone

I need some serious help here

The story is a little long
3 weeks ago, I had my computer working, and suddenly, it stopped booting windows, not even the logo show on screen, also no error code or anything. I couldn't enter diagnostic or safe mode (just bios). I had to format and reinstall windows 8 because any restore options worked.

Then a week ago, again it stopped booting, no error code, no anything, but this time, it bothered me that just 2 weeks before happened the same, so I started checking everything, so I took my Hard Drive, and put it in another computer, and it worked with no problem, windows booted, just not in my computer.

I started to look for solutions, and one was to use the command bootrec /scanos, and i got suprised that no windows installation was found. Eventually I had to speak with Microsoft tech, and they said it was my components because they were old, and they actually are (8 years), but I wasn't convinced that was it.

Before getting Windows 8 Pro, I had installed Windows 8 release preview, and it worked for months with no problem.

I thought that of course the fulll version would be heavier for my pc, so I installed Windows 7 again (had it installed for years before w8 release preview).

And now the bad part

after a couple of hours having the W7 installed, it won't boot either.

The same symptoms from W8, windows won't boot, not even the logo shows, although, with a little difference, now it shows a "Missing ... Read more

Alright, I've been having some trouble with this laptop.

I turn it on, no disk in the drive, and it eventually tells me: "Operating System Not Found!"

I tried putting in the restore disk and the OS disk to reinstall, but with either one, I just get a "No Hard Drive Found" message.

I really can't get any further than that. Any ideas, at all? All I know is: Things worked fine before he tried to clear some internet files (apparently).

I don't have this issue on my Desktop, but on my newly created Windows To Go drive.

I got this working today, and I pinned some items to the Start Screen. I want to pin items to the Taskbar, like Task Manager, but Windows isn't allowing ANY pinning to the Taskbar. I wonder if it's trying to kill use of the Desktop.
I've tried dragging things down, using the Start Screen commands, and even the right click context menu in Explorer, nothing.

BAH! Any suggestions?

A:I can't seem to pin anything to the Taskbar anymore.

I'm getting the same thing. My Windows 8 Release Preview running in a VM allows pin to taskbar but the "Windows To Go" installation does not. I hope this is not by design. Pinning applications to the Taskbar may be the 1 thing that makes this new OS usable.

Now thats a multitasking computer....

Did you reinstall the right version of Windows? 32-bit or 64-bit

Also, does it give an error or the other program just doesn't open?

Third, is it just for these two games (little bit harder for a computer to run two games...) or with any program (your internet browser and let's say Microsoft word or something...)

Hi there
for a whole host of apps you don't really need the desktop anymore.

struggling with Win8 for a while it DOES have a logic to it and even with a whole host of apps I never in a million years thought I'd be writing this.

1) Get rid of all the useless metro stuff you don't want.

2) Be TOTALLY ruthless with what you pin to the start menu -- and organise by WHAT YOU USE - rather than application --for example I have EXCEL in the same group as Notepad and Cmd prompt -- if I use these apps like this there's no reason to leave say EXCEL in the MS office group - especially if I don't use very often other programs in that group.

3) Replace IE invasive version (metro) with the Normal IE on the start screen.

Now good to go. At boot you get your customized start screen -- now say I want EXCEL I just click on it.
IF I did it the "Classical Way" I'd have to click on Start, then Ms office apps -- then Ms EXCEL (3 actions from boot rather than 1 !!.
The trick is to arrange the start screen properly for HOW YOU WORK.

This is NOT an OOBE experience so setting it up will take time and effort and we do need more customisation properties for the start screen -- but all those Start button lovers -- try thinking in the new way and you will be surprised.

Enc screen shot of my start screen.

Cheers
jimbo

I have 3 computers networked through an SMC Barricade router which is in turn hooked to a cable modem. (The router assigns each one a unique IP add. using DHCP) All three can access the Internet with no problem. the last time I tried to view the shared folders, all of a sudden none of the computers can see any of the others, Two are running Win XP home SP2. One of them must use Win 98 because it wouldn't take XP. I have installed Trend Micro Internet security an them, but have it configured for home local area network. On two of them I'm running Trojan Hunter. They all have spyware blaster running in the background. I don't know when the blindness problem occurred because I haven't tried to go to My network places since August. Everything was OK then. I have made sure all three are in the same workgroup.

A:can't see other computers anymore

The basics for troubleshooting are:

1. Make sure you have the same IP scheme (e.g. 192.168.0.x).

2. Make sure you have the same Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS IP addresses.

3. Make sure you can ping the other computer's IP address. If this fails, just for testing, make sure you turn off XP's as well as any other firewall.

4. Make sure you can ping the other computers by name.

5. Make sure you have the same workgroup name (watch for trailing spaces)

6. For troubleshooting purposes, turn off XP's and completely uninstall any other firewall software. You can always add more complexity after you get it working.

7. With XP, make sure you have the same username and password as the person logging onto the other computers. The default setting for XP Pro is to require a password for network access.

8. More details about how to network XP can be found at:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/xp_network.htm

9. More details about how to troubleshoot TCP/IP networks can be found at:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/trouble.htm

There continues to be a lot of misinformation about needing NetBEUI or to changing the NetBIOS setting. You can ignore both. Installing NetBEUI to solve a networking problem will just mask a some underlying and potentially important misconfiguration with TCP/IP. The default NetBIOS setting works fine so there is no need to change that either.

I had a problem a while back because of malware which meant I couldnt use any USB ports and my computer completely became redundant.

This problem meant I couldnt connect to the internet, and couldnt come to the Tech Support Forum for help, so a friend of mine had the idea to partition the C drive into C & E, E being the old problematic drive and C the new part.

This allowed me then to connect to the internet via the C drive so I coudl get to the HJT forum to get help, and as expected the forum helped me out.

Now I wont to clear that E drive away, leavingme with just the c drive, as I think Ive got everything I need from there now and placed on my now C drive.

Can somebody help me do this, and if there anything I can do with a scan to help you identify things first that isnt a problem at all.

Whilst getting help this time around, a professional in the HJT section mentioned I had a double boot system, this is new to me and just thought id mention it just in case it mattered.

Thanks

Lee

A:No need for E dive anymore

Hi Lee !

Right-click my computer => manage => disk management. Expand the window and post a screenshot of it here. To post a screenshot press the print screen key, go to start => all programs => accessories => paint, click edit => paste, then save as .jpg. Attach the image file to your next post using the manage attachments button from the advanced mode.

Then open windows explorer, navigate to c:, go to tools => folder options => view. Check "show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "hide protected operating system files" and "hide extensions for known file types". Double-click the boot.ini file (or open it in notepad) and copy/paste its content here.

Before we proceed further be warned that it can be risky to merge 2 partitions (C and E) when one of them (C) holds the system. If something goes bad you can lose all the files that are on one or those partitions and you may even end up with a non-bootable computer. I would advise that you backup all your valuable data on CD's and make sure you have your install disk ready just in case.

Hello. I have a problem with my PC. For some reason for about a year my PC can't wake up after it goes to sleep. I've reinstalled Windows 7, but on a newly installed, clean OS the problem still stays. On Windows 8.1(which I had only for a while because it was awful) it was the same. I'm not sure if it's a windows issue, hardware problem or something.
The thing is, sometimes my PC can't wake up. Not always, but it's very often. It goes to sleep well, but when I wan't to wake it up it starts, I can hear fans working, and then stops. Just like that, as if the power was cut off. Then it starts again and stops once more. And it goes like that forever. I have to unplug it from power and wait a bit, only then it starts, but from hibernation.

Does anyone knows how to fix that? Why does it do such a thing? I tried looking up google for such problems but most of them were of USB mouses/keyboard not waking up or actually waking up PC. I couldn't find my problem.

My PC:
Gigabyte P35-DS3
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
3072MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
Windows 7 32-bit

A:PC can't wake up anymore.

It may be a power issue. Sleep is a low power state that holds all information in memory. If the power at any time is lost that information is gone and it's impossible to wake up.
Hibernation doesn't need power because it writes to disk.

I assume you have a desktop computer and are using Hybrid Sleep which can be useful in case of power outage. One option is to switch from Hybrid Sleep to Hibernate and you won't run into these problems anymore.

This is somewhat old, I should have posted it here... well, maybe a month or so ago.

In the end of the last year, I had some issues with the computer, so I posted about it at one of the other forums like this that you can find online. I got help, ran a few antimalware programs, HijackThis etc. One of these programs were ComboFix.

In the beginning, ComboFix worked alright. But it messed up the computer in various ways, which (I think) is supposed to be fixed when . But when ComboFix was to be unistalled, supposedly restoring the messed-up stuff back to normal, ComboFix stopped working normally just showing error messages, claiming that it didn't work with Vista (even though it did before). I tried to re-download it as instructed, but to no avail. I can't run ComboFix at all anymore. The helper said in December 31 that he would contact the creator of ComboFix and be back within "a few days". Now all of January and half of February have passed, and no response yet. I'm strongly suspecting he will not be back. I checked the thread today, and nope, no response.

In essence, this means I'm stuck with the computer partly messed up. What is visible is that I can't see my background (nor select one either), it's just black. In addition, thumbnails aren't working either, and images in folders have no icon (though if you click on them, you can see them without problems just a text piece below where the image is supposed to be. And these are the visible problems. Maybe there ... Read more

I used to be able to read DVD's with either WMP or HP DVD play. HP DVD Play stopped working (Stopped opening actually, I could click on it as much as I wanted, nothing) so I deleted it. Today, I put a DVD in and open WMP but it says that I don't have a DVD decoder... Is there any way that I can get it back by doing something on the computer or I have to get a new one off a website ?

Thanks for the help

So I've been using AVG for years because its a pretty streamlined software and I think it works very well (...and it's free).

Over the past month or so though, I've noticed my fans are running at full steam far more than they should be. The culprit is a process called avgcsrva.exe, "AVG Scanning Core Module - Server Part". [It seems] Regardless of what software I have open, this process will hog 12% of my total CPU (Core 1 runs at a constant 75-100%).

I started logging the software I had open whenever this happened and after a few weeks I can't find the trigger (if there is a particular one). Closing programs and ending processes has had no effect. The only thing that frees up my CPU and alleviates the overtaxed fans is restarting the computer. I've even tried reopening everything immediately after the restart to see when avgcsrva.exe would start hogging resources and all was well. It's as if it's a completely time dependent glitch.

Does anybody have any idea what could be going on? I found a bunch of hits when I searched the process but nothing useful. I figured I would exhaust my go to resource (you guys) before I ditch AVG after all these years.

Any and all input is as always, greatly appreciated.

A:AVG isn't so slim anymore!

Get rid of AVG 2012(or whatever version you're using), then download and run AVG Remover to get rid of the leftover file and registry "debris", then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials 2.1.1116.0 - which is lightweight and user-friendly and well recommended in these forums.

While trying to clean up the drive of my Dell Inspiron 6400, I must have accidentally uninstalled something. Now my DVD player does not play DVD anymore.
When I go to ?My Computer?and then click on the DVD, I get an error message saying ?This file does not have a program associated with it to perform this action.? The DVD does neither play on DIVX nor on Windows Media Player.
I have checked under ?Device Manager? to see if there was a problem with the DVD driver, but it seems fine. There is no exclamation sign. I even uninstalled the driver and rebooted the computer. It still did not solve the problem.

A:Does anyone use HiJack this anymore?

Why we no longer ask for HijackThis logs... HijackThis only scans certain areas of a computer's system/registry to help diagnose the presence of undetected malware in known hiding places. Given the sophistication of malware hiding techniques used by attackers in today's environment, HijackThis is limited in its ability to detect infection and generate a report outside these known hiding places. This limitation has made its usefulness nearly obsolete since a HijackThis log cannot reveal all the malware residing on a computer. As such, HijackThis has been replaced by other preferred tools like DDS, OTL, Zoek and RSIT that provide comprehensive logs with specific details about more areas of a computer's system, files, folders and registry keys which may have been modified by malware infection.Unless you know how to read and analyze logs from DDS, OTL, Zoek or RSIT there's no point in downloading and using them. If those tools are needed for a malware infection you should seek assistance from an expert who will advise you accordingly. Like HijackThis, these are powerful tools which rely on trained experts to interpret the log entries, determine what needs to be fixed and plan a strategy for disinfection. Using such tools requires advanced knowledge about the Windows Operating System and can cause system damage if used incorrectly. If you do not have advanced knowledge about computers or training in the use of these tools, you should NOT attempt to use them or fix anything without... Read more

Can anyone help me fix this problem, please ?!?

A:Can't join *.001 anymore

If they are just a series of compressed archives, extremely popular with torrenting, WinRAR(which I see you have installed), or 7zip should also be able to extract the content back into its original state. Looking at the image you posted, I'd venture a guess that the archive was actually created with 7zip in the first place, judging by the portion of the file name that I can see.
*side note: generally upon creation these files are named in successive order so I'd be curious why you only have one file with a .003 ext which appears to be all alone without its .001 and .002 buddies.

I was so desperate I acrually disbled it for a few seconds and tried to download, but that didn't work either. Has anyone got any ideas?

A:I can't download anything anymore

I just found my answer after much searching. I'll post it here in case anyone else encounters the same problem.

Zone Alarm Pro

Double-click the Zone Alarm icon in the system tray in the lower right corner of the screen. With ZA open, click on "Privacy" button in the left hand part of the screen. Then click on the "Main" tab at the upper right. Once you're in, look in the third section titled "Mobile Code Control". Click the "Custom" button in this section. Four menu items should appear. The last one should say something like "Block mime-type integrated objects". Uncheck the box by this item, then click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box. It should not be necessary to disable any other ZA privacy settings.

Ok, so I'm trying to help a relative fix their computer. Problem is it's been nearly a decade since I've stepped e-foot on the internet. So heres the low-down. The computer in question runs remarkably slow, my old C64 has become a superior system. Opening programs takes forever, starting the computer takes forever. And apparently, theres a lot more nasty stuff out there to contend with. The user in question also frequents a website called pogo. Which to my understanding is most likely the cause of everything. All I've done is made sure that no extra programs are running at startup, and downloaded HiJackThis. To which I've included a log. If it was my computer, I'd just go along and delete everything that looks harmful and hope for the best. But since it's not my computer I gotta be careful. Figure I'd let someone who knows what their doing help me. Any and all help will be utmost appreciated.

A:No clue what to do anymore

I used to be able to burn CDs just fine, and all of a sudden I wasn't able to anymore.
In windows media it says "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."
Ahh, help!

I can't play this game that I play everyday anymore. I re-downloaded realplayer (trying to fix it) and
went and unblocked it under the firewall. After I did that... every game on this website (muchgames.com)
stopped working. I know, not much detail...but that is all that happened.

At first, I thought maybe it was just mozilla acting up again..so I tried it on IE and the games still
don't work. So, it must be something with the computer but I don't know what happened. (I had tried blocking realplayer...but that didn't work either).

Maybe it's just the website messing up...but it just seems rather odd that it goes out like this after I download realplayer. (I have windows XP)

This is what the site is doing:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

A:Why can't I use this website anymore?

Have you tried MuchGames Help Q&A? Scroll down to the System Requirements section and maybe you'll be able to solve your problem.

If your problem didn't start until you
I re-downloaded realplayer (trying to fix it) and

Did you uninstall the realplayer download to see if that actually caused the problem. Maybe you intended to download the lastest version of Adobe Flash Player?

Although I don't usually recommend doing a System Restore to a date when the games were working, it may be the easiest thing for you to try.

After 20 years of desktops I think I'll stick with buying laptops from now on. I am very satisfied with my
Core i3 15.6" 6gb 500gb $330 lap, for Internet, games, work, etc.

After checking the CPUboss site for desktop vs. laptop CPUs, I am not convinced I should spend more $ on a monitor and give up portability even if desktops beat lap CPU speed. I see that Core i5 desktop beats lap i7 by 25%, and i3 desktop beats i5 lap by 25%, and AMD a8 desktop beats a10 lap.

even a dual core desktop beats quad lap:

My son turned my pc off and now when i boot it won't get passed the bios logo screen (asus sabertooth 990fx) and the boot check led status lit on the mobo. If i detach the ssd i can not to a recovery drive and then reattach the ssd to try and fix it but nothing I've tried so far has worked -

Bootrec fixmbr success
Fixboot success
rebuilbcd shows c:windows as there but then says system device not found.

What does this mean?

A:Ssd won't boot anymore

WELL, you didn't say what SSD you have. BAD!
But, it sounds like you had the same experience that I had a few months back, when my three month old PNY SSD decided one day that it didn't want to work anymore. I called PNY, from whom I bought the drive, but they would not do anything without the original invoice. So I was stuck, with a worthless piece of crap that I could do nothing with.
I got right on my backup drive, pulled up Amazon.com and ordered a new "SanDisk, 128GB, SSD" and requested two day delivery.

Now it's several months later and my SanDisk SSD is still working like a champ. It came with the SanDisk Dashboard, which includes the "Trim" program to keep the SSD in top shape.

Sounds like you need a new SSD. I strongly recommend a "SanDisk" SSD.

Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!

Yesterday I discovered that my webcam is no longer listed as a device on my pc. Then my cd/dvd player. When I try to log into my Facebook page, my pc beeps once and the tab reads "Redirecting" and I'm brought back to login page. I tried a registry cleaner from Cyberdefender but didn't complete the installation because the "tech support professional" couldn't get the install to work without another very costly technician doing the job (bait and switch?). I've cleaned up programs that I no longer use, I've run my Norton 360 and only found tracking cookies. Spybot didn't turn up anything either. The HJT log is attached. I'm stumped. Thanks for your help
