This is my sister's netbook. The problems started with one of those new "fake antivirus" that puts up a ton of obviously fake results that claim your computer is highly infected*. She being... less technologically inclined apparently decided to run the "Antivirus scan" over and over again over night and then the next day gave it to me to try to figure out what was wrong. I can't find the links right now but I found a bunch of blogs that mentioned (Privacyprotection.exe) and among the most frustrating aspects what that it blocked pretty much everything from running. I did a bit of digging and eventually found out it was a rootkit causing the issues and the tools they gave me wouldn't run but I was able to follow the manual instructions. (remove the .exe, remove the alias, regedit and remove the key that matched privacyprotection.exe but not the other ones like the one underchrome etc). That took care of the major problem and I was able to get Microsoft Security Essentials running but everyscan kept turning up a few "Trojans" and that upon trying to clean would result in an error. The error would lead to 'restart to finish removel'. I tried safe mode and the same result. One top of that google results kept getting redirected (forget the site right now.. something like awesomesearch.com or what have you). I decided to try from another angle the redirect angle and found thishttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic422038.htmlI t... Read more

My computer (vista) was infected with a virus. So I first used rkill/iexplore then ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware since my protection (Panda) doesn't seem to do its job correctly. The first time I did this, everything seemed to return to normal. Couple of days later, the same virus started up. I redid what I did...and it seemed to work again...until I tried using the internet. (I think Malwarebytes deleted something in the registry?)

There was an error saying that "DHCP error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion". I googled this on my laptop and followed some of the instructions found online. None of it worked...

I went into device manager->hiddle files->non plug and play drivers:
There was a problem with these with the same code for them: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)
App Filter Plugin
NetMon Filter Plugin
Panda Net Driver [TDI Layer]
VSCore mferkdk

Finally, I have included the last three logs from Malwarebytes showing which files were deleted by the program.

Thank you for looking over this!!

Hey Everyone.

Maybe someone could be of help. I have gone through several different forums and have attempted several ways to try to fix this but have had no luck.

I have tried the netsch winsock reset
I have tried the ipconfig /renew
My DNS service starts but my dchp client doesnt want to and gives me the error 1075.
I have removed NAV still nothing.

I have also tried many other alternatives but im just not remembering at the moment and I am just stumped.

Internet works on my other two computers, but my laptop is what seems to not want to connect wirelessly or routed. Something seems to be blocked or missing.

If anyone can please help me in any way possible it would greatly be appreciated. If you need me to provide some more details please let me know.

Thanks

First , you may have done this but ..... check if you can start the dependency service for DHCP client service. To view the dependency services registered for DHCP Client Service, try the following steps? Click on Start and them type cmd and press Enter? In the command prompt type: CMD /K SC QC DHCP - Please note the spaces -? Press Enter check if the dependency service is started.Verify that the Dependency Service / components are runningNext -To verify that the three dependency components are running. Follow the steps below:? Click Start, Run and type DEVMGMT.MSC - No spaces -? In the View menu, click Show hidden devices? Double-click Non-Plug and Play drivers section? Double-click the entry AFD, and click the Driver tab? Set the Startup type to System.? Start the service. Note down the error message if any.? Similarly start the two other drivers namely:? TCP/IP Protocol Driver? NetBios over Tcpip? Close Device Manager and restart Windows.? Now check if you can start the DHCP service.Let us know if you have done all this, and we can look for more ideas -

DHCP and TCP/IP can not be started from Services with out the following error.

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

I've checked the dependencies and all are running.

AFD is the only driver common to both DHCP and TCP/IP so I assumed it is either not running or is corrupt..yet when I try to start AFD from the CMD prompt I get...."service is already running.

I have since disabled my Lan Connection via Network Connections as it just sits there trying to acquire ip without ever timing out.

I also performed a registry scan with Registry Booster in Safe Mode. It reported:

1061 System Errors
205 User Errors, and
1 Third Party Error

A cursory review of the log tells me the majority have to do with poorly uninstalled programs. I did NOT let Registry Booster fix anything.

Hello all,

I've noticed that a few people have posted concerning this topic, so I've tried to read up on as many possible solutions before posting. I'm recently recovering from a mild virus infection on my computer, and noticed that after I had run Avast! and Malwarebytes to remove the virus, my computer lost its internet functionality. Upon running ipconfig in command prompt, I noticed that the computer was not being assigned an IP address, which lead me to believe there could be an issue with DHCP.

I noticed that someone else had posted a very similar problem, but a few of the more advanced fixes seemed specifically tailored for their issue.

Below are the fixes I've attempted thus far -

1. Checked the registry for DHCP?s dependencies (3 are listed, Afd, Tcpip, and NetBT).
2. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing ?netsh int ip reset reset.log? into command prompt.
3. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing ?netsh winsock reset catalog? into command prompt.
4. Ran ?sfc /scannow? with an XP SP3 CD.

I'm currently running Windows XP Media Center, Service Pack 3 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop I had purchased in mid-2006.

The full message is error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion

This started with a tidserv!inf infection. Norton End-Point seems to have deleted all related virus infections, however, I am now unable to start the DHCP service. I have to set a static IP in order to connect to the internet.

I believe tdx.dll was identified as a virus and deleted. it was listed as a dependancy of dhcp but had no descriptor. Currently it is not listed as a dependancy.

I cannot view network shares from this PC nor can I view shares that I host here on other PC's. Only this computer shows up in net places.

I did an sfc /scannow and it told me audiodev.dll and mofd.dll were corrupted and the files in the store have been corrupted.

I had to take ownership with the admin group in order to replace them with extracted copies from my windows cd, but I when I went back to reassign trustedinstaller as the owner it was not listed as an option.

my cd is without service pack and my installed service pack is sp2.

can anyone be of assistance.

DHCP error 1075--can not start the DHCP client on local computer.Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion..

Hi thanks for any help you can give.
Machine is a Dell dimension e520
Win XP Media center edition SP 2

I have the original dell discs and access to a working laptop also running win XP [this one]

During a routine virus scan by avira anti vir it quarentined c:\windowes\system32\drivers\netby.sys.

This disabled the DHCP client so no IP traffic
I restored the file but still no luck

After trying to renew the IP and some searching around I found that the HKEY local machine system currentcontrolset services NETbt registry key is missing

In services DHCP cannot be restarted --gives the warning above.
AFD and TCP/IP are in device manager -non plug & play show hidden devices NETbt is not

Can the registry be repaired from the original discs without having to reinstall everything else?
Or is it as easy as inserting the missing registry key?

Thanks Bob

DHCP Client will not start from services menu and neither will TCP/IP all other networking services appear to be started and working.

DHCP dependencies are:

AFD Networking Support Environment
TCP/IP Protocol
IPSEC driver
TCP/IP dependencies are:
AFD

Since the TCP/IP's only dependency is AFD I suspect it has been deleted or corrupted. How do I go about fixing that?

Need help solving Error #1075 problem in conjunction with CheckPoint VPN NGX R60 HFA3. I am using a Dell E6510 laptop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS. I can get this VPN to run and connect when I use Microsoft's XP virtual machine sitting on the Windows 7 desktop but I cannot get it to run on the Windows 7 desktop by itself.

Although the VPN seems to load without incident the associated icon "key" does not appear in the notification tray at the lower right. It does appear in the XP virtual machine and on a separate HP desk top running Vista.

When I type services.msc at the Win 7 command prompt I get a list of all the loaded services including the CheckPoint VPN. It is at this point when I try to start the VPN I get the 1075 error. When I check the dependencies under the VPN I find the "CheckPoint Office Mode Module" and the "VPN-1 Module".

How do I determine if these dependencies are causing the 1075 error message? What steps do I need to take to resolve the error message so the VPN will start?

I have read through the original thread (now closed) and tried all it's suggestions. However, I am still having the same IP (on lack of) issues. I ended my efforts with the running of SFC /SCANNOW which took a considerable amount of time, but resulted in no errors of any kind.

I continue to get the Error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion, message when trying to start the DHCP Client.

I'm afraid searching the suggested logs for the dependency items it a little over my head.

A little background for my situation. The computer in question is my teenage daughters. A week ago she started having problems with the internet and I'm assuming this is some sort of virus. Whenever selecting a website to launch to, something intervenes and chooses some alternate website. Never the same one twice. I loaded AVAST free version and did a scan. I also updated Malware Bytes and did another scan. I then loaded Kaspersky TDDS killer and did a scan with that. After all that, and roughly 15 files quarantined and deleted, I now have this IP problem. I cannot restore the computer back to an earlier time.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings,
I am having a major DHCP error on my girlfriend's laptop. I am primarily a Linux user so I'm kinda lost here as her machine is running XP. It's a Dell XPS M1210 which, conveniently, did not come with a recovery CD or even partition.
Anyway, a few weeks ago her wireless network device stopped working. It would look like it was connecting, but it would hang on "Acquiring network address." At first I thought maybe the device was shot, until I had the chance to test out the wired ethernet, which has the same problem.
After quite a bit of googling, I ran services.msc, and saw that DHCP is not running. When I try to start it from that menu, however, I get this message: "Could not start the DHCP Client service on Local computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion."
After more googling, I discovered that DHCP has only 3 dependencies: TCP/IP, AFD, and NetBt. I checked the registry, and those were the only ones listed.
After even more googling, I ran devmgmt.msc and selected "show hidden devices" and double clicked on "non plug and play devices." I TCP/IP and AFD are both there. NetBt, however, is not.
I've spent hours doing further googling and tried pretty much every fix I could find and nothing seems to work. If the PC had shipped with a recovery CD I imagine this would be easy to fix but alas no luck. I need to get this working so I can set up my new internets and I... Read more

My PC is three years old and has been a great machine. I run Windows XP Home Edition, I.E. 7 and have all the protection installed I can find.

Quite by accident I discovered my System Restore is not working. I don't need it at the moment (!!!) but I like everything to be as near as perfect as possible on my PC so I have been trying to discover what the SR problem is and how I can resolve it.

I keep getting the message "S R is not able to protect your computer. Please restart and run SR again"............This advice does not work. for me!
I cannot turn off SR for the same reason.

I then checked out this section of the forum and discovered that many people have had this same problem. I have tried downloading Kelly's file 238 (I think that was the number) ; I have tried accessing services.msc ; I have tried accessing i386: nothing!

I did get the message "Error 1075: "Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". This error seeems to apply to many facilities on a PC.

I have my windows XP disk but cannot lay my hands on the SP2 one so I don't want to mess about without your professional advice to do so!! (apologies!)

As I said, if you solve my problem you will be miracle workers and worthy of your wings.

My thanks for any help you can offer me.

Hey all!
I am really desperate. I've tried a few things that other people have posted here, especially Cookiegal and Lumpola but this issue persists.

I had a virus. I think I got rid of it. Avast scans and boot time scans and Super Anti Spyware and TDSS killer report all clear. However, the network shield of Avast and the Internet don't work.
Points to note:
1. In services, the DHCP and DNS cannot be started. I get the error 1075: service has been marked for deletion or one of it's dependancies are missing. (close to that)

I've checked the dependancies of both, and reinstated the ADF module in device manager after selecting the 'View Hidden' option.

2. I've tried deleting the winsock and winsock2 entries in the registry.

Hello,

On July 12th 2012, my computer installed updates. After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.

A:windows audio: error 1075 the dependency service does not exist or has

From your description there are many more problems than just the windows audio error.

I would suspect an Operating System problem. If you can find a friend to download the Windows 7 Home Premium ISO and burn it to a DVD, that would give you the needed disc to try and repair Windows. Although your DVD drive does not work in Windows, it should work for booting.

Here is the link to the forum post. There are links to the various versions. You can download the same version that you have.

The solution for me was to restore the operating system to an earlier point in time. In windows xp, go to programs> accessories>disk utilities> system restore and follow the directions. I suppose I could have done that for both problems? At least I didnít have to reinstall XP!

How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

Step 1 ? Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

Step 3 ? At the command prompt, enter ?ipconfig /flushdns? followed by pressing the ?enter? key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: ?Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.? Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries.

Then , we want to get the IP reset, so, lets renew its settings and see if this also helps out :
you will type in the command box : ipconfig /release then enter, then next ipconfig /renew then enter, this will reset the IP , now restart and attempt to have it reconfigure its connections to your router. Post back results please.

Hi there

I am hoping you can help. It started with a message saying that Norton could not update as my subscription had expired. This was weird because I renewed it some months ago. (won't be doing that in future though - before anyone says anything). Anyway when I tried to find out when subscription supposedly expired, it just said, as far as I can recall, 'expiry date unknown'. I then got an error msg: 'Norton Antispam has encountered an internal program error (6002,9)' and it directed me to Symantec website. I was advised to download Norton removal Tool which I did. I then blocked traffic whilst I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2005. I uninstalled Norton but when I tried to reinstall Norton, by clicking on the install Norton Internet Security button on the cdsetup screen, it starts to run then nothing happens. I am now getting a Symantec Integrator message which says 'Unable to start the Integrator. Please reboot and try again. If this fails, please contact technical support.' 1007.157. However, nNow that I have uninstalled Norton, I can't connect to the internet. I have internet explorer 6 on the PC. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling this but to no avail.

Please help. What could be blocking me from connecting to the internet?

detected a problem with the Winsock provider catalogue.

If I try and get on via Chrome it says:
DNS look up failed.

I'm running Windows XP Pro on a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P (System Model P5GD1-FM), if that is of any use. I am absolutely out of ideas as to where this problem has come from and how to get rid of it! Help would be much appreciated guys.

Hello everyone,

Windows XP with IE 6 was working the other day; however, when trying to connect to the internet later that day there was this error message:

res://fzcuz.dll/url_error.html

I tried reinstalling IE, internet reconnection, drivers, etc, and nothing. There was a ton of spyware I removed along with errors (Norton) I fixed, but the internet still will not connect. The internet provider (roadrunner) tech. could not fix the problem and we agreed that it sounds as if a spyware problem with the spyware blocking or redirecting the upload of the program (IE). Does anyone else have any ideas that could possibly help?

I appreciate any information and advice!

Thank You :D

A:Internet Explorer Error, Cannot Connect!

I'd do an Trend House Call on-line Virus Scan, then download, install, and run the latest update for these two tools. Ad-Aware and SpyBot Search-N-Destroy.

Finally, I'd use Spyware Blaster from: Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard to prevent many forms of spyware from loading in the first place.

The final stop on the AV/Spyware tour is probably these two. HijackThis is very useful for manually removing many stubborn spyware variants that other applications fail to remove. CWShredder is a single purpose application for removing Cool Web Search, because it mutates so fast that you need a separate product to keep up with it. HijackThis and CWShredder

Once you get rid of all the spyware, you may need to either repair the WINSOCK or reset the TCP/IP stack, try these.

PROBLEM: Cant get on-line

BACKGROUND:
had a nasty virus - used ESET on-line scanner to get the system to the point where i could run MBAM, ComboFix - after running the ComboFix util, it mentioned something about having a certain type of virus that attached itself to the TCPIP stack (or something like that) - and it said that i may have to run ComboFIx again to correct this issue....I did, and ever since the first instance if ComboFix, i cannot get access to the internet. After i was shutdown on the internet, I determined that the Afd.sys was missing - put that back in place, rebooted - then my critical internet related services would start again - but I am still left without the internet.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
sfc /scannow
running winsockxpfix

I can successfully:
run IPCONFIG /RELEASE and /RENEW - works fine, no errors

Hi, My stepson is not very responsible when it comes to Anti-virus protection. Now his computer cannot connect to the internet.

He connects via wire.

Looked at his services and DNS was not started, so I clicked on it and attempted to start it. That's when I got the 1068 error. Tried a number of other services and got the same error.

I'm assuming it's a virus. He's had them before.

Please help.

He's running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Hope you can help with this annoying problem. I have read and tried everything on this forum.

My system uses static IP and DNS.

IP:192.168.99.240
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.99.1

DNS: 202.96.104.27 (ISP)
DNS2: 202.96.104.17 (ISP)

Here is the trick if I take my XP laptop plug the network wire in and load up a webpage, then unplug and plug the wire into the Win7 machine it works until next reboot.

Tried:
netsh reset....
Modified the Registry -
Tried Open DNS 8.8.8.8 etc.
No Anti-virus installed
Firewall both on and off

All return an error of cannot resolve DNS.

Please help I am stuck...

Sincerely
Stefan

A:Cannot get my system to connect to the internet DNS error

May I ask why you are bothering with Static IP and DNS?

Is your assign IP outside the DHCP Pool of the router? Static IPs should always be outside that range of addresses.

I quote a previous post because it is an identical issue with my Vista Ultimate:

Dependency service failed to start?
A few days ago my computer inexplicably lost its ability to connect to the internet. I am running Windows Vista (Ultimate not business). It is a desktop and I have had it installed since Vista came out. When attempting to connect to any network I receive the error message: "The dependency service or group failed to start."

When I click "Diagnose and repair" on the network button I get the following message: "Network Diagnostics cannot run because the Diagnostics Policy Service is not running" at which point I open up the Service Control Manager to start the DPS service. However, the service refuses to start and I get yet another error message: "Error 1114: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed, or it will give me a code saying that access is denied if I attempt to manually start the Diagnostics Policy Service.

I have had the most recent updates for IExplorer for a while and have not run any Vista updates recently (last time was around 11 Nov and the problem began yesterday, 1 Dec). This problem was preceded by a blue screen error that would end quickly, followed by my computer restarting. The blue screen error stopped after a few hours of turning off my computer, but of course now I can not connect to the internet at all.

Any advice will be much appreciated. I really do not want to reinstall the ope... Read more

How about starting with a "System Restore" -- this will not cause any loss of personal data >>

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

Also you have the ability in Vista Ultimate to create full image backups through "Backup and Restore Center"; once this problem is resolved, one way or another, you should learn how to use that.

chkdsk should also be run on the drive >> http://www.windows-help-central.com/windows-vista-chkdsk.html

Click on Start\Run. Type regedit and click OK. When the registry editor comes up look in the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\ \Delete the subkeys labeled 25 and 26. Exit the registry and reboot the machine. Look for your original connection or create a new one. Visit Windows Update and install Service Pack 1 for WindowsXP along with any other critical updates listed there. Remember to enable your firewall before going online or you will be infected by the virus that is currently making the rounds.

Wow TSF, Sorry to be back so soon. I just ended a thread yesterday that got rid of an irritating virus. The TSF rep had me work with ComboFix. But today when I rebooted my computer, I got the following dialog box:

"SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY

You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way Windows starts.

The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts..."

The next box showed that it was in Selective mode. I restarted once or twice, and when the error message kept coming up, I changed the "Selective Start" to the "Normal Start" mode.

That was when my computer went berserk. It restored itself to a point from over a year ago. I went to System Restore to set a new restore point, but the System Restore had been mysteriously turned off and there was no other restore point for the computer.

To make matters worse, even though it can see my wireless network, it suddenly cannot make the connection. Everything was working fine earlier today. All this started when I rebooted, and then when I switched it to Normal mode.

I am running Windows XP Pro v. 5.1 with service pack 3. I hope I have given you all the information you need and that you can help me!

Thank you.

Yesterday, we accidentally picked up a virus that kept routing our google searches to Shopica and februaryfinder.com. I have symantect endpoint protection and ran that...Nothing. I then ran an online search recommended by this site which found and deleted one virus. I then ran superantispyware in safemode and that found 2 threats and deleted them. When I restarted my computer I get the "Error loading NFR.DLL" message and when I try to connect to the internet, there is no connection and diagnostics says it is a firewall problem. I have been running MBAM a few times and it finds absolutely nothing wrong at this point.
Anyhelp you could provide would be great

A:Error loading NFR.DLL and cant connect to internet

Hello and welcome..Its not unusual to receive such an error after using specialized fix tools.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.

About a month ago, my computer started acting up. The disk was running at 100% all the time and something in the unit was physically making a clicking noise. Eventually I got the classic windows 8 bluescreen with the big ol sad emoji on it. I looked up the error and after about an hour of trying to figure out how to launch into safe mode, I uninstalled AVG which was the supposed problem. My computer started working again.

Shortly after, it started running slowly again, crashing quite a bit, etc. every time I boot, I get a warning saying that I should back up all my info because there's a hard drive error. On top of this, I am unable to connect to the internet through wifi, Ethernet, and even USB tethering. Every time I try it back up my files, it freezes halfway through. I also am unable to turn on windows defender or antivirus. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Hi -

I'm not sure if addressing the malware I do see will take care of all those issues, but it will be a place to start. Sometimes, removing malware is not enough to correct a corrupted installation of Windows.

I'd like to see a bit more information before we begin. Let's try this tool...
Download RSIT by random/random and save it to your desktop.
Double click RSIT.exe to start the tool and click Continue at the disclaimer.
When the scan completes it will open a log named log.txt maximized, and a log named info.txt minimized.
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of log.txt here.
Please attach info.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\rsit\info.txt

Click Upload.

I got this error due to ?????, and it appeared to be a router problem. After screwing around 2 days, I finally figured out it was a cable modem problem, and a remote reset by the ISP fixed the problem. I previously posted here about getting blue screens and was redirected to a program which helped me determine the cause of these blue screens.

After determining that the blue screens were likely caused by a wireless driver, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the driver. Now the problem is, I can't get back on the internet.

I use a Netgear WNDA3100 v1.

I tried to connect through WNDA3100 v1's provided wireless connection, but couldn't connect to the internet at all. So I tried to connect through the Windows XP service.

When this happens, the connection often is "stuck" at Acquiring Network Address before claiming "Limited or No connectivity" or "Not Connected". I have made sure to enter the exact WEP key every time while trying to connect, I have disabled firewalls, and I still can't connect to the internet. The router appears to be working fine, since I can access the internet fine on this laptop.

As with nearly every instance I have searched online, I have tried to repair the network and I get an "Invalid IP Address" message.

I was able to resolve this issue the first time I got the adapter a year ago, but I can't remember how I solved this issue. It's absolutely baffling me and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Limited or no connectivity error, cannot connect to internet

have you tried turning off wireless security then try to connect that would be my first move, if that works make sure you have the latest driver / firmware for your wireless adaptor. Than try connecting with security enabled again

Error 678 is typically a dial-up modem issue, most likely caused by incorrect drivers, or line noise. Or in rare instances, a faulty line on the ISP's end.

i would receive errors saying "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and svc.host error (I forgot what the message said). When I press "OK" my computer would freeze. I also had a thinkpoint virus but I believe I got rid of it. I would get random pop ups here and there. Ive tried numerous solutions on google but none of them worked. System restore doesnt work either. I think because i messed around with the registry that my internet doesnt connect anymore (can not renew ip address). After my internet stopped working the generic host error and svchost.exe error stopped. My firewall wont turn on either. I have windows xp.

Thank You, Please Help!!!

This forum solved a nasty, nasty spyware problem I had a few months ago so I figured it was the best place around to ask this question.

Things to keep in mind - this is help for my mom, who is not computer savvy at all and I can't travel to her home right now to help her, we live many hours apart.

She has a custom built PC that was mine for a couple of years and I finally decided to give it to her instead of letting it collect dust. It is running Windows XP. This computer was on DSL and cable in about 5 different houses and two states before I stopped using it, it never gave me a moments problem.

She is trying to connect to the internet by using Time Warner's "Road Runner" cable internet service and gets this exact error:

Winsock Information Winsock 2.0
Road Runner manager detected an error during the protocol
Error: Road Runner is unable to connect to a socket
Any idea?

Thank you sooooo much in advance.

A:Winsock Error when trying to connect to internet via Road Runner

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Do you think Mom can run a HJT log?

She can e-mail it to you and you can post it.

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I just formatted a new hard drive with Windows 7 Pro. I cant connect to the internet with this OS (error 651). I can switch back to the other OS Windows XP on my other Hard Drive and it works fine. All my other devices connect just fine.
I researched and I saw that if you paste a new system file in "Drivers" (raspppoe.sys) it would work. I cant get that don't because I don't have Permission. I am the "administrator". I tried in safe mode and it still wont go. I need to be "Trustedinstaller". I called Microsoft and got disconnected twice and they never called me back. I have to wait 30 to 45 minutes and they just disconnect with-in the first 5 minutes. (ARGH!) I did "ipconfig" it says "media disconnected". I think I have tried everything else. U-Tube had a video where you disabled a hidden file in the "Device Manager" it would just come up and work. That didn't help.
Please Help Me!

A:New Windows 7 Pro Format, Wont connect to the internet, Error 651

Do you have access to another computer? If so, make a live Linux USB or DVD. I like Linux Mint because it's very similar to Windows 7. Ubuntu is really popular too. Just do a Google search on how to make one. They are easy to make and plenty of guides.

Boot from the USB or DVD and you can paste that file any where you like. Have you ever tried to delete a file and Windows says "You do not have permission"? They are great for that too. I also use it if Windows will not boot and people have personal files they want to retrieve. Just boot a live Linux USB and transfer all their personal files to a portable hard drive.

When you boot into a live Linux OS, if it asks, DO NOT click on INSTALL. Click on TRY.

Our connection is a DSL one thru wifi.l We have three laptops, a week ago everything was fine then last tuesday only a SINGLE laptop was able to connect to wifi ( the one im using right now ) the weird thing is that my laptop ( one of the two laptops that cannot connect ) skype is online ( i can chat, call and view webcams ) and when we turn off the wifi for a minute and turn it back on - all three laptops can connect to the wifi but after 30mins or so an error will appear ERROR 105 and the DNS lookup failed.
Ive tried troubleshooting it thru cmd ( the ones i saw on the internet ) someworks but after an hour or so it wont work anymore.
the three laptops Mine is vista home premium and the 2 laptops are Windows 7; even phones that has wifi - Samsung, Nokia and Iphone cannot connect to the wifi also.
our firewall is turn off, no viruses etc.

Im leaning towards that the wifi ( hardware ) or the DSL provider is at fault here.

PS. A week ago and last morning my laptop informed that " the IP address is being used by another device, that we have the same IP address and that ill be experiencing connection difficulties " in what i recall.

My daughter was looking for tv programs and music on various sites despite my warnings and invited a whole slew of troubles. The usual rkill did not work and kept getting booted off at the get-go. I finally found one version they have under a different name in safe mode and it stopped the initial processes that were preventing any antimalware program from opening. Then I tried SuperAntiSpyware which took out a lot of junk. Then I tried Malwarebytes Mbam which had worked in the past, but was running slow and then stopped short of completing a full scan and froze. I had to bale out of that one.

So the problem now is that I get three RUNDLL Error Loading messages. The messages are as follows, and they only show up on my daughter's window's account, but not in my Administrator Account, on her laptop. I cannot connect to the internet in either of the account names:

1. C:\DOCUME~1\KRISTE~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\oskeset.dll "The specified module could not be found."
2. C:\Documents and Settings\Kristen\Local Settings\Application Data\npdyns.dll "The specified module could not be found."
3. C:\Documents and Settings\Kristen\Local Settings\Application Data\ozudokaw.dll "The specified module could not be found."

I have been at this for hours now and I am out of things to try. I'm looking forward to new ideas! Thanks!

Morning folks,
Laptop won't connect via wireless.
It will connect via ethernet.
I have run antivirus and malaware bytes
I have checked relevant drivers
This is a known software issue as it happened last month. I took it to my local PC guy and he fixed it but was very vague about what he did. "I ran a couple of scripts" was his answer
All other devices in the house are fine.
When the laptop crapped out last month, so did the desktop BUT desktop is ethernet only. The computer guy fixed this the same way.

I could go back to my guy, but if  it is recurring then I would like to know what is causing it.

I've tried different routers

I'm running Windows 10

Thanks in advance,

i had installed malwarebytes to rid of the adds and pop ups that I receive onto my web browser ( Google Chrome & Mozilla FireFox ) I let it scan my computer which had some effects of lagging my current in-use files. After it had finished scanning it asked me whether I wanted to delete the files or if I wanted to quarantine them, so I decided to quarantine all the files it had found a threat. It then had told me to restart my computer and after I had restarted my computer, everything was working fine but I couldn't connect to the internet due to : Unable to connect to the proxy server.
Since then I had uninstalled malwarebytes before I found the forum because I thought that were get rid of my issue. I had run my SRST scan and I also have attached my log for the malwarebytes run.
Since I am using a laptop to access the internet I am unable to do online scans on my insected computer.
I do not understand the functions on computers and such so well so I need greater assistance.
Thank you for any assistance that you give me.

I have a semi-wireless (apparently) connection with a receiver on my terrace from which a cable is sourced to my Laptop.
My ISP authenticates users through a "web dialer" wherein once connection to their Login web page is established, I can login using my credentials and then continue to access the internet..

Now for the past two weeks I've been unable to access even this login page; I assumed it was a problem with my ISP and harangued with them as long as I could, till I found that my neighbor (who also has his receiver on the terrace) had minimal problems in connecting via the same ISP.

Now coming to the Browser specific issues, Today I was just playing around with the 'Security' and 'Content' options of IE7 and I reset all settings to default values.. Soon after, I was able to connect to the login page successfully, albeit with a security certificate error and after ignoring the warning I'm able to connect to the Login page.

In specific , whenever I try to reach my Login page now (through which my ISP provides internet access), I get the following error:

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

I have an HP S5000 series desktop computer. I bought it in 2011.

I recently bought Kaspersky Internet Security since I knew I had a virus or something. I installed it successfully. I then performed a disk clean up. I restarted my computer to find I could no longer connect to the Internet. There is no connection found. When I try to troubleshoot, it says,

"The Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems."

I contacted Kaspersky and they walked me through some steps that did not solve the issue. I contacted HP and I would have to pay on a warranty before being able to get help on my problem.

If anyone knows how to solve this, please help!! It will be greatly appreciated!!

A:Windows 7- No Server Found/Realtek error msg/Can't connect to Internet/

I'd start by uninstalling Kaspersky and run the following repairs. You can reinstall Kaspersky after getting a successful connection.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista through 10.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. [For Windows 8 thru 10: <Windows Logo> + x - Command Prompt(Admin)]

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine after all three commands; no need to boot after the 1st and 2nd.

Are you connecting Wired or Wirelessly? Unplug the power plug to the Modem and the Router. Plug the power into just the Modem (unless you have a modem/router combo) When all the lights come up, plug in the power to the Router (unless combo of course)
Now Go to Start/Run and type inetcpl.cpl and press enter/Connections/LAN Settings. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Now go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Right click the Local Area connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP)/Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address and DNS Server Address Automatically are both checked. Now go to Start/Run and type CMD and press enter. IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. You should have a new IP address try it again. If you still cannot connect please include the text output of your ipconfig /all in your next post

I have a desktop running on Vista OS, and the main problem I have with it is that it reboots automatically without warning. It is not like a shutdown, but like someone flipped the power off and then it starts back up automatically. I am not sure if this is a hardware problem, because I also have error messages pop up "catalyst control centre cannot start" and I also cannot connect to the internet. I am connected but with "Limited Connectivity" so essentially I am unable to do anything.

Advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks

I am having problems with my son's Dell Inspiron N5110. I can't get the computer to connect to the internet. I have done almost everything I can find on message boards related to this subject. When I try to connect to the internet, explorer (or firefox) cannot display the webpage. The troubleshooting message indicates "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings."
I have other computers that can connect to the internet with no problem. I have tried to connect with a wired connection, but that doesn't work either.
The info on the computer is as follows:

The antivirus says none because I uninstalled the McAfee that was on the machine. I ran a full scan before doing to and nothing came up.

I have tried many things. I made sure the box for using a proxy server was unchecked under the LAN settings. "Automatically detect settings" is checked otherwise.

I reinstalled an updated driver to no avail. I did the netsh winsock reset, ipv4 reset, etc.

The IPconfig/all shows the following:

I've picked up something on my PC that is proving ridiculously hard to get rid of, and I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give.

I was surfing the web and had googled a few things, and some of the links I clicked on were taking me to strange search sites. I thought nothing of it at the time, since some of the google links were working, but now that I've read a few comments from people suffering a similar problem, I realize that was probably another symptom of this problem. At any rate, I restarted my computer, and that's when it all went bad.

I'm getting an error message on startup titled "svchost" which reads 'The instruction at "0x75606eb5" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.' I cannot connect to the internet. I can see wireless networks, but when I try to connect it tells me that it can't renew my IP address.

I've run Spy-Bot, Symantec, Ad-Aware, Malewarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, but the problem persists. I wasn't able to run any of the anti-spyware software until I changed the name of the exe file. I've tried to do a system restore, but it wouldn't work. I was able to open system restore and select the day to restore, but when I hit "next" to start the restore, it did nothing.

I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, and nothing appears to work. Symantec and Walewarebytes found a... Read more

Recently purchased a new computer. I was having issues with installing Windows 7 and learned that HyperTransport is sometimes the cause of the issue and by turning it from "Auto" in the BIOS settings to "X1" can resolve the issue, and for me it did.

After installing Windows 7 and waiting to see if there were any other errors I went back to turn HyperTransport back to "Auto" I'm above computer savvy, but not far when it comes to hardware, I'm more of a software kind of guy. After doing so I was receiving consistent BSOD's. And after turning HyberTransport back to "X1" they went away narrowing it down to this being my issue.

I didn't know if updating my BIOS would help the issue so I decided to ask around first.

Computer Specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T with HyperTransport
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3
8Gig of Corsair Dominator
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1Gig

I have no idea about the power that any of these pieces should be receiving, nor if that would even be the cause of the problem. Also, windows freezes along with the BSODs saying that a video driver went out but was recovered, I just installed the latest video drivers. At the time of posting this the computer has been running for 2hours without HyperTransport set to "Auto"

Would updating the BIOS fix the problem?

Thank you!

Just got off the phone with Verizon. They had me push the reset button and I was able to connect to the internet again. I mentioned how slow it takes for pages to load. She said if I have two firewalls running that can happen, then eventually it blocks your internet connection. I have the free Avira and am only using the Windows Firewall. She said the Verizon router has a firewall but it's a low security. So I went on the internet was able to get on some sites, but then others wouldn't connect again, said there is no internet connection. All the lights on the router are on. So far it's still working, but this is what happened before when I lost my connection completely.

I have Windows XP, tried it both on IE 8 and Firefox. The router is an Actiontec MI42WR. The problem was with both my desktop and laptop wired connections.
