Q: No network connectivity - WinXP Pro SP3 ; Dell Inspirion 530S; Intel 82562V-2

Intel 82562V-2 10/100 Network Card.

It's a dual boot and when I boot into Ubuntu, the networking works fine.

Boot to the XP pro side and nothing.  I can enable/disable the card but when I check status is shows that it's connected and the time its been connected but it shows not packets in or out.

Any ideas of things I could do/try.

Thanks!

A: No network connectivity - WinXP Pro SP3 ; Dell Inspirion 530S; Intel 82562V-2

Just a thought but have you tried something as simple as connect automatically in the internet options settings?(internet options,
connections,LAN,Automatically detect settings)
I know its a simple thing but its easy to overlook,my xp will do this occasionally after using my dual booting Lubuntu,no idea why.
I asked a programer why a clean system would do this and he said even
a small electrical surge could cause a setting change,so who knows.

If that doesnt work it might be time to repair the internet, reset the win sock etc..hopefully you dont have a viral issue messing with your settings.

I have come to the conclusion that I am going to do a PC restore on my computer. I have some sort of virus that when I am connected to the internet it decides to use my computer to send out spam emails and such. My Cable company notified me of this. I am not sure how to fix it but I don't have that much on my computer that I really need to keep so I would just like to start fresh. However when I go through F8 to and click on repair my computer it sends me to a grey screen and thats all I get. Not sure what to do. Also for awhile now when I start up the computer it gives me 0 diskette error press F1 to continue. Not sure how that ever came about either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello and thanks in advance for your help.  I purchased the Dell 3521 a couple years ago and was stricken with malfunctioning bluetooth connectivity from day 1.   Support was less than capable.   They were taking endless random shots in the dark to find resolution of issue including changing bt drivers, changing the network adapter, sending tech to my place, replacing mother board, sent me USB drive with clean version of Windows for install etc.  All to no avail and unbelievably annoying.  Obviously I was also unable to determine where the problem was but I was astounded at some of the simple minded solutions they suggested I attempt.  After weeks of working with Dell's support the problem remained and a I gave up on resolving the issues with bluetooth.

Luckily I was able to configure wireless network properly and was surfing fine with the Inspirion and my Verizon Actiontec modem.  Then it started.  All was fine until the network would be unable to resolve name in dns.  Error, no connection availble, network changed, limited network messages began occuring.  Many times re-booting the router would remedy the problem.  All would be peachy for a few days/weeks and then bam, limited network again.  I assumed the problem must be with the router provided by verizon so I contacted their tech support first.  (Also the Dell is out of warranty support now, as if I wanted to ever work with Dell support again ... Hello,
I am a user of the vistax64 forums and found thread on the 7 forums related to a problem I have. I use vista but I don't think my problem is OS independent. Anyway, I stumbled upon this thread:
Sata Mode AHCI / IDE

A user, Unifex, posted this "Well, that's the thing for Dell Inspiron - there is no separate setting in the BIOS for AHCI. Only IDE and RAID. But, RAID actually corresponds to AHCI, so by choosing RAID I actually get the AHCI BIOS screen and so on"

That is exactly what I want to know how to do. How do you get the AHCI BIOS screen after selecting RAID in the Inspirion 530s BIOS? I am aware this is a very hardware specific question. I hope this is appropriate for these forums. Unifex, if you happen to be reading this post, I would greatly appreciate your input considering your familiarity of this BIOS.

A:Selecting AHCI SATA mode: Dell Inspirion 530s

Hello,

I believe the RAID option is for the AHCI. There inst a separate BIOS Screen for this option although it may show a few more settings on the BIOS relating to the RAID. If you are going to setup your OS so that it uses AHCI then you will have to download the drivers first or your system wont boot.

For a little more information have a look at this:

I am trying to do some tech support for family and I am stumped. They had a Dell 530 with an Intel 82562V-2 and it will no longer connect to the internet.

ipconfig /all returns

Host Name. . . . . . . . . . . :wayne-PC
Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . :Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . :No
WINS Proxy Enabled . . . . . . :No

That's it. Windows gives errors two errors:

1)The Network adapter is experiencing driver or hardware issues

2)Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are Correct

I have installed the latest Intel drives and the TCP IP settings are checked for both V4 and V6. I have even went as far to install a new Dynex Ethernet card which gets the same errors.

I have even tried the netsh reset ip command. I have no Idea what to do next. I have searched goggle and found some similar problems with the same model Dell and card but they were fixed by reboot.

Is this a BIOS problem? If so what do I need to do to fix it?

Hello

I discovered this forum recently and it seems to be a good place to seek advice. So here is my problem:

I installed Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 530.

After a reboot everything works fine until I put the computer to sleep.

After resuming from sleep the cpu usage is extremely high even when the computer should be idle. Task Manager shows that the System (PID 4) process is using some cpu. Resource Monitor shows that a lot of time is spent in System Interrupts - Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines.

My conclusions at this time is that the integrated network card (Intel 82562V-2) does not properly resume from sleep and creates a lot of system interrupts. Note that disabling the network card makes the problem go away right away, and the problem comes back right away after re-enabling it.

Tried upgrading BIOS of computer and driver of network card but that did not help.

Any suggestions? Somebody else tried Windows 7 on a Inspiron 530?

Thanks.

I put Windows 7 on my dell inspirion 15 N5030 laptop. It say there is no network driver installed. How do I determine what device driver I need to install & do I need to install just it or do i need to install all the dell drivers for that laptop. I did not buy it new -i bought it used & do not know what devices it has in it. I can follow directions if given them step by step. I had a dell before this that I had to install all the drivers for using xp and it was a nightmare getting the right driver & installing them properly but I did get it done finally lol. In fact im on a dell laditude right now but it has windows 10 and 10 had all the drivers  needed for this one. i also tried to install 10 on the inspiron but it would not install at all so I put in windows 7 instead. Recently the onboard S.M.A.R.T. system in my Dell Inspiron 530s began telling me that my HDD was overheating, and a few odd behaviors seemed to confirm that.

I cleaned the inside--especially the CPU fan and heatsink--with compressed air and also replaced the power supply with no improvement.

So I bought the EverCool Cool Wheel HDD cooler and attached it to the hard drive, but now I can't find a connection for the 4-pin molex connector.

I know these slim-line computers are tough to add on to or upgrade, but I am considering a 4-pin-to-SATA converter to plug the cooler into the hard drive. Would this work? Or is there a better way?

Thanks!

A:No 4-pin connection in Dell 530s

The Dell manual indicates connector P4 is a 4 pin molex connector. If P4 is being used you could purchase a SATA to 4 pin molex adapter which would work.

It's been suggested that the need to enter CMOS almost daily is because I'm getting an error on Drive A(which does not exist on this pc)..and the date and time are off by a few years as well..

I've congratulated myself in not getting into trouble by making the suggested changes and the pc is fine for a day or two..
New battery has been ordered..

Question is: what will happen to the settings in CMOS when I remove the old one..and is any difficulty to be anticipated in re setting the CMOS ?

Tnx

One oldman

A:Replacing battery in Dell 530s

Assuming the battery is dead, removing it will have no further effect.

Once the new battery is installed, remove the floppy drive from the BIOS settings, and of course set the date/time. You should be all set then.

Not all systems were made to work with XP. You need to contact Dell and see if there are XP drivers available - especially a chipset driver.

Hi,

I've run into a problem with a legally purchased piece of software for my daughter. The software runs okay on my XP laptop (this is a work laptop - sackable offense to place her software on it!). Anyway, runs okay on XP but has a prob validating the CD on my Dell Inspiron 530s running Vista Home Premium (SP2). Contacted tech support for the software and they admit that their copy protection is disallowing the CD because dell have implemented the TSST DVD/CD drive with Elby Clonedrive. Tech support state that thier copy protection won't run on any 'clone' drive and that they are aware of this prob with dell implementations of the TSST drive. They have no work-around and have offered me my money back. I would prefer to get this software working as my daughter needs it as part of her school work. Any suggestions or perhaps some way to implement the drive withour Elby Clonedrive? The software is legal.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Everybody

Anyone knows where I can find graphic cards for the Dell 530s.
This is a compact size tower. A standard size graphic card does not fit.
I am not able to use high graphic settings or features like for games.
It is only a matter of card height. Stupid thing.
I think they call them low profile cards or so.

Thanks a lot

A:Where to find graphic card for Dell 530s

Here's your best bet. 9800 GT from Sparkle. 105$ which is pretty good for a 9800 GT in low profile. Make sure you can buy from Newegg though.

Newegg.com - SPARKLE SX98GT512D3L-NM GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

You could really game on this thing if your 530 even has a dual core pentium or something like it and it's in a low profile size so it'll most definitely fit. HDMI support as well.

Also, make sure you have the required connectors as the card only requires one 6 pin connector for auxiliary power.

Hi. My Dell Inspiron 530S won't turn on. The green light by the power cord connection in the back lights up, but when I push the power button, nothing happens. No beeps or flashing colors, nothing happens at all. I have Windows Vista Home edition. The computer is between 2 to 3 years old. I just purchased Winferno Registry Power cleaner last week and after running it, the computer seemed to be faster. This same issue happened last week (before running Winferno) and we unplugged the power cord from the back of the PC for about 5 minutes and after we plugged it back in, it came on. Everything was working beautifully and then my son got on it and it kept freezing up. I didn't have time to look at it right then, so he did a proper shut down thinking that may resolve the issue. But the next morning, when I push the power button, nothing happens. We tried the unplugging again, even for an hour. But no matter what we do, it won't come on. I am not computer illiterate, but not an expert either. I think this may be a power supply issue, but would appreciate some feedback, before I purchase one. Thanks for any assitance.

Hello,

My brother has a Dell Inspiron 530s, and it needs a new power supply. Could anyone possibly tell me what type of power supply I will need? I know it all depends on what type of connectors and wattage. I know that I will need at least a 250-watt power supply, but I'm not sure about the connectors. I tried to look it up on their website but they didn't specify. I just don't want to have to buy a power supply from dell's website, I'd prefer to get one from newegg.com or amazon.

Thanks in advance.

A:Power Supply for Dell Inspiron 530s

That's a SFF [small form factor] power supply. Doubt you'll find one that is higher watt rated. Amazon has the following:

http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Dell-Inspiron-Systems-Identical/dp/B001GJCR46

and this one

http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Dell-Inspiron-Identical-Compatible/dp/B002WPSS28/ref=pd_sim_misc_3

Looks like the only difference is base price & shipping costs.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530S PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, bought this PC in 2007 and it hasn't been used all that much. It keeps losing the date and time. I have replaced the coin cell battery-CR2032, 3 volt twice as I thought that the first time I may just have gotten a bad battery and reset the CMOS jumper to clear the CMOS. It worked for awhile then went back to losing date and time. I have everything plugged into a surge protector. There is a shutdown item in windows that I click on to power down the PC, then after it shuts down I turn off the surge protector to shut off all power, to save electricity as we don't use our PC everyday. To start the PC I turn on the surge protector then press the power button on the PC. What happens is the PC starts up as soon as the power is turned on at the surge protector, when that happens the PC won't boot as the CMOS setting (date and time) revert back to 2007. Once I reset the CMOS to the correct date and time and press F10 to save the PC boots up and works fine until I shut it down and go to use it again. I notice there is a LED light towards the front of the PC that goes off when the surge protector is turned off but if I plug the PC power cable directly into the wall receptacle this LED light stays on even though the PC is powered down and that may be because the PC isn't powering down completely. The way it used to work was to simply turn on the surge protector and then press the start (power) button o... Read more

It says windows failed to start. A recent hardward or software change might be the cause. Launch Startup Repair (recommended) or Start Normally neither works. Launch Repair is a loop and Normal just leaves a black screen. I know it runs Vista. I cleaned all dust, changed COMS battery, tried F8 all lead to black screen.
Updated:
I know that its a Inspiron 530s shipped 10-2008. Who to possible rent a center. She bought it for her gamer son, three years ago, i know she sent it back in to be rebuilt about two years ago.
I can get to the F12 and run diag. testing I get error codes: 0F00:137B (there is not a disk in the drive I know what caused that) Then I get on the extended test: Error 1100:012A : 1100:022A : 1100:052A. Every thing else checks out ok on that test. I have noticed it only beeps once on start up, and the motherboard has and yellow light that stays on. Beyond that I know nothing else. I asked him what happened he said he turned it off after gaming when he turned it on in the a.m. it was in this condition. I don't know if any of this helps.

What's up. I'm looking for a graphics card that's direct x 11 compatible for my 530s. Everything on the computer is stock. I don't play games on my PC just need a new card so I can use OBS to stream with my Elgato on YouTube. Cheaper the better.
Thanks in advance!

A:Dell Inspiron 530s Direct X 11 Graphics Card Upgrade

Specifically One card from ONE vendor.   ASUS EAH 5450.
Some LOW Profile cards WILL NOT FIT.  The ASUS Silent 5450 and 6450 Definitely will.
The low profile must be REALLY low profile or the cover will not go on or the heatsink will prevent the hard drive bracket from going back in or both.

Get an ASUS SILENT RADEON HD 5450.  THE EAH5450 from ASUS fits in ALL Models of GX280 EXCEPT THE USFF Pictured Below.   THE 5450 Comes with 2 sets of brackets for Low Profile or standard slots.
If you have USFF you cannot install ANY card because there are no slots.

My wife has a DELL inspiron 530s.....I am trying to persuade her to let me fit a graphic card I have....a Geforce GT-730 1GB DDR5 OC boost edition.

she does not play games, but does a fair bit of web browsing and uses MS office word a lot....

what I would like to know ( for me its a no brainer, as I already have the card, have no use for it and being low profile will fit the dell perfectly ) is what benefit should she expect to see and or will it give some measure of future proofing as websites become more complex....?

thanks

A:what benefit in adding graphic card to dell inspiron 530s

I don't think it's going to be worth the effort given what she's using it for. And what is the output on the power supply?? Factor that in if you go ahead and try to install the graphic card.

But if it were me.. I wouldn't do it.

Hi,
The problem started in December when Windows 10 updated itself. The screen simply turns black after booting. (Dell symbol appears but black after)
I have found a couple of things out:
- laptop screen works if Intel graphics are disabled
- external screen works on hdmi
- I can access BIOS screen
I have clean installed Windows 10 several times with no success even when upgrading drivers. I have also tried a clean install of Windows 8.1 (which never had an issue before I upgraded) however this also gives the same issue.
I have updated and reset the BIOS with no success.
The laptop also has an nVidia graphics card also but I don't think it is at fault
I'm pretty much out of ideas as to what to try next!
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Sam

Hey. I'm mainly looking to upgrade my video card. Which is pretty much going to require me to upgrade the power supply also. Unless someone throws a video card in my lap that will work on a 250W power supply. The problem I'm running into is this: my tower is too slim for pretty much everything. Dell sells upgrades through their site but I'm wondering if there are other brands that sell something better/cheaper/fitworthy. Thanks in advance.

A:Upgrading power supply and video card for a Dell Inspiron 530s

These use a slimmer PSU if I remember correctly.

Your probably going to need to replace the case to be honest, which will also mean you'll need to replace the CPU cooler, because Dell use a screw-in design, which relies on the tray behind the motherboard having screws to hold the CPU cooler in place.

You could just get a bigger Dell case, pretty much any Inspirion or Vostro case will fit your hardware, plus you can then use a ATX PSU too. That will be your cheapest solution, purely because you only have the case to purchase.

If you want an aftermarket case your going to need the case, and a new CPU cooler, and possibly a new motherboard, dependant on whether you can remove the insulation tabs on each side of the cpu cooler mounting holes.

Try reseating your RAM. It should be fairly easy to do. Google it if you have difficulties.

I have a weird BSOD problem here. I installed Windows 7 64 on my daughters Dell Inspirion 1525 over the Christmas break. The machine is still running all original equipment including 4 gig of ram, intel wireless card and the integrated Intel graphics. I run AVG free and Zone Alarm, both latest versions.

It has been running rock solid at home on my wireless network. It runs fine at her friends house off campus. As soon as she takes it in the dorm, it BSODs upon boot up. I had it home (where it boots fine) and double checked all drivers and flashed the BIOS to the latest version from Dell. Back to college and same result. I had her disable the wireless card and it booted. Plugged it in to an Ethernet port and it runs for a while then BSOD again. We changed out AVG for Avast but it still is getting the blue screen. I have attached a picture of the BSOD screen and the only minidump file I have managed to find so far. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Certified Dell Battery directly from Dell Parts? Exactly the same battery as original? This is an old computer that might have a motherboard failure. IMO it is a waste of money replacing the battery on an old laptop. $130 goes a long way towards a new laptop. See if you can return it. To test--remove the battery and use the adapter alone.

Hello,

My cousin has this laptop the Dell inspirion N5010

Windows 7 64 bit service pack 1

Core I5 2.53 GHZ

4 GB ram

anyways for some reason the WiFi only works for like 10 to 15 minutes and then it just like stops working and the computer needs to be restarted for it to work again. The thing is though that it still shows as connected with full bars and it says internet access and everything seems normal but when browsing the web it just stops so you are browsing fine and all of a sudden it stops and won't go to a page and just says connecting and looks like it's trying to go to the page but doesn't. The thing to is that it happens and both my house and over at hers. At first I thought it was maybe there Comcast Modem/router combo but then it still did it over here at my house. SO I am wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why everything seems normal but the internet just stops.

Thanks,

Any more info needed just ask and I'll try and get it.

edit: I decided to now plug in Ethernet to the laptop after the WiFi went down and it still doesn't work. it says connected but I still get nothing. I went to the status window and it shows ipv4 connectivity Internet and ipv6 connectivity no internet access Media state enabled Duration which just shows a running time and then speed which is 100.0 Mbps

i purchased a dell inspirion around a year ago. recently whenever i push the power button to turn the pc on, it would continuously restart 3 times in successions before finally booting up bios and windows as normal.

so i turn on pc, it stays on for 2 secs, then suddenly turns off for precisely 5 seconds, then goes back on again for 2 seconds, then turns off again for another 5 sec....etc until it finall boots windows at it's third restart.

my pc is very new.

those who own a recent dell desktop system; i'd like to ask if any of you have ever tried turning on the pc without plugging a monitor to it? the reason whay i'm asking is that i think dell pcs are made in such a way that it would restart itself several times when it doesn't detect a monitor, which was what happened in my case, it happened for first time after i had unplugged the included dell monitor in my desktop package, since then the pc's never stop restarting itself whenever i turn it on, and it's always 3 times to be exact, and doesn't boot anything until this 3 times cycle is completed, tried pushing the power button as it's restarting, no effect, so i'm sure the pc must be stuck in some kinda cycle, my pc would turn on fine until that day when i unplugged a monitor after i had turn it off. then all o fthis happened.

interestingly, after i had plugged the power cable back in the pc after i had previously unpluged it to stop the pc from restarting like that, it woul... Read more

Try reseating RAM module(s) in the slot(s). Then remove motherboard battery and press/hold power button for ~30 sec before reinstalling the battery. See what happens when you boot now.

Hello,

Everytime I close my lid, try to hirbernate my computer or try to shut it down it doesn't respond properly. When I open the lid again my pc won't turn on, it doesn't hibernate properly or shut off. It started when I "upgraded" my verson from w8.0 to w8.1. I read that it could be my graphic video driver, I updated it using the driver autodetect from AMD but nothing changed. My computer is a Dell Inspirion 15 (3537), on Device Manager > Display Adapters it says "AMD Radeon R9 M265X", but I believe that my graphic card is an AMD Radeon HD 8850M.
Should I change the driver installed by AMD, or the problem may be something else?

Thank you!

However, i have read in different places that the UEFI bios on the inspirion 660 aren't compatible with many of the newer graphic cards such as the GTX980 series, is this true? And if so what can i do to fix this? get a new motherboard altogether?
Also, are there any other general tips and things i need to know before upgrading my case to a bigger one?

I just realized that the dv9500t has the nvidia 8600M gs card, which is considerably slower than the 8600 GT.

I customized a dv9500t and for almost exaclty $2,000 it has:

17 inch screen
Intel T7500 Processor
2 GB RAM
200 GB 7200 RPM Hard drive (100 x 2)
Nvidia 512 MB 8600M GS

The Dell has:

17 inch screen
Intell T7500
2 GB RAM
250 GB 5400 RPM Hard drive
Nvidia 256 MB 8600 GT

The Dell was about 300 - 400 bucks more, but I can use the $350 off Dell coupon since it's an Inspirion which brings the price down to $2100 after taxes. So, both compuers have the new Santa Rosa T7500 processors, 200+ Gb Hard Drives, but the Dell has the 8600 Gt, as opposed to the 8600 Gs in the HP. I have been helping a friend with his Dell Inspirion B130 Laptop. It is running Windows XP Home Edition. It has 512 megs of RAM.

He had over 84 Trojan Viruses on the computer and it was in such bad shape that I thought it would have to be reformated. In Safe Mode I was
able to install AVG 8.0 and it cleaned all of the Trojan Viruses except some Malware titled "Antispyware 2010". I have read in this forum that the answer
is to use Malawarebytes. I have used this program faithfully with my computer at home and it does really a good job.

The problem I am having is that on the Dell B130 laptop whenever I install Malawarebytes it goes through setup and installation fine. It even updates the definitions. When I try to run the progam (even with quick scan) the program sits for a minute and then it just stops. It is totally knocked off the desktop. In SafeMode I get a message that I do not have proper authority to run the program. I've installed and removed this program over and over again and just can't seem to get it to work.

I would sure appreciate any ideas that one of you might have on how I can get Malawarebytes to install and/or how to get rid of this damn Antispyware 2010.

Thanks in advance for all ideas.

A:Malawarebytes will not run on My Dell Inspirion B130

Rename this file:C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exeto this:winlogon.exeThen double-click the renamed file and see if it will run.

I tried to turn on the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 laptop, the dell logo won't ever show. Not even typing on the keys won't wake it up. There's even the loud 7-8 beeps that happen three times. What could be the malfunction? Is there anything I can do if I wanna fix this damage?
Here's the service tag:

I will never allow the following answers:

You need to buy a new inspiron.
You need to waste a lot of money for Dell to repair.
The warrenty expired.

Otherwise, a lot of help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Dell Inspirion w Windows 7 problem

Hi and welcome to TSF a recovery or install disc could be a big part of what we need to help repair this can you borrow one from a friend the same as is installed,in the mean time do you have any data needing saved, and have you tired testing the ram with memtest 86 + and the hard drive with seatools for dos.
the other thing you could do is order the disc from dell it would be useful for the future link in here Tech Support Forum - Announcements in Forum : Microsoft Support

Hello all,
First of thank you for taking the time to read this, I am having intermittent BSOD running windows 8, i am a front end dev and have no clue when it comes to system errors I just don't know where to turn with this.
I'm attaching the dmp's from sf diagnostic tool to this post if any other info is needed please feel free to chime in.
So far I've tried a clean boot and updating graphics and chip drivers, the comp has also been off to dell support but they can't seem to find anything wrong with the hardware. I have run memtest's and it passes without fail and all the in house hardware tests pass along with anything I could find to stress test the hardware using :
ultimatebootcd
the BSOD's tend to occur when reproducing video via flash in any browser (chrome, firefox, opera), before the comp went away to dell support I also tried removing the uefi boot and installing Ubuntu, but crashes still occured, I'm leaving a link to the comp specs here:
Inspiron 15R Laptop
the comp is under 3 months old and it's driving me mad, I need to work on it and put my battered asus to rest!!!
any help is much appreciated.
kind regards
Chris
update: also attaching bluescreen view .html

A:DELL inspirion 3148 Keyboard

Hi INSOOCEO,
Is there any liquid spillage / physical damage on the system? Does an external keyboard work fine on the system? Are the specified keys not working at all or do they work intermittently?
You could contact our Dell Reseller in your country and get the system serviced. If there is no warranty, it would be a paid service call - check your reseller options here - http://bit.ly/1OaGai4

I have a Dell Inspirion 2020 All-In-One that powered off last week on its own.  When I would plug the power cord in, the blue fuse light would shut off instantly.  I tried the cord on other devices, worked fine.  Tried different cords on computer and had the same result of the light on the cord shutting off instantly.  After asking around, it appears to be the motherboard.  Bought one from Dell, and installed it.  All I did was unhook old one and install cables back in exact place.  I took a picture before hand to make sure.  Now I get a single amber light on the power button but will not power up.  I know the fan starts when I push the power button but as soon as the amber light comes on, which is 1 sec after I push the power button, the fan cuts off.  Any direction or assistance would be great to fix this large paperweight.

Unfortunately it likely wasn't the MBoard...but the power pack...See if they will work with you on an exchange.

Looks like I'm in the correct spot My computer is only a couple months old and I noticed problems about 1 month into it,It was really slow (I thought it was the cable co. but they said it wasn't them!) and I was timeing out all the time, I disconnected the router (D-Link) because I thought it was the problem, but problems got worse! If I shut the computer off, I couldn't get it to boot up, I had power to it, but no windows or key board.. It would take 5 -10 tries/on and off, before Windows would come on, and just before Windows would come on, a error message would run across the bottom of the screen so fast I couldn't read it. I'd put the computer on sleep for the night, but it would shut off / no Windows, so I'd do the on/off,on/off,on and a screen came up with a message on how to turn windows on manually,so I followed the directions and it came back on..minus my screen saver!
I then started to do all the "troubleshooting" and all tests came back OK. all lights work perfectly and I have no bugs ( thank soap!). A friend suggested I go into the Device Manager and check the connectivity, here's what I found...

Morning all and Happy Turkey Day,
My sister has two Dell Inspirion B130's which both appear to be dead. I was hoping to salvage enough parts from each to make one working computer. She has numerous pictures that she does not want to lose. Any ideas of how I can transfer the hard drives to a working system. We have a Dell Inspirion 9200 on hand (pin sets on the hard drives do not match) and a Dell Dimension 4600 Desktop. Any thoughts or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Went to use my laptop this morning and no power.  It was connected to the AC adapter so I removed the plug and tried to power again.  Here are all the things I have already tried:
-Checked wall plug - ok
-Checked the charger - when I plug the charger into the wall plug the green light comes on, but as soon as I plug it into the laptop, the green light goes out
-Removed battery and AC adapter and Fn plus power for 30 seconds - nothing
-Reseated memory cards - nothing
History:
Despite Windows 10 not being supported on this hardware, I installed it last November and it had been working fine.  Every once in a while it seemed if I touched the mouse pad just so, the screen would have black lines running across it.  After a few seconds it would resolve itself.
The day before I lost power, I ran the Quick Diagonal test from dell.Com and when I left it, it seemed to be running the test.
Is there anything else I can check or try on my own before I have to take it for repair?
It seems a likely problem may be the charging plug receptacle, but not sure how to test without another charger.
Thanks for ANY input!

A:Replacement Screen for Dell Inspirion 1525

eBay most likely will have the best price, be sure to get an exact match on the model number that is on the sticker, or it may not work in that system.

You will pay more if you want someone to guarantee theirs will work in your system

I'm currently trying to re-install windows onto an old tablet by putting it's hard drive into an older Dell laptop, and although they are supposed to be the same size, the dell is slightly thinner and therefore the older hard drive won't fit into the bay.
I don't think I can or should force it and I would gladly accept any advise.
Thanks,
Shannon

A:Dell Inspirion 1100 Hardrive issues

Why are you trying to put the hard drive in an old Dell? Does the tablet have a cd rom drive? I wouldn't force it you might cause more problems. If you needed to you could get an adapter that would make the 2 1/2 inch drive hook into the 3 1/2 drive ide cable (in a desktop computer) so you could format it and install Windows....

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure where I should go..

I have a Dell Inspirion 1545. There were multiple problems with it. It all started with the battery going out. It was telling me that I needed to replace it. Shortly after that it started freezing a lot. I'd have to hold the power button down just to get it to shut down. I'd also occasionally come across a blue screen when this happen, but that was only once or twice. Next thing I did was check it for viruses. I tried multiple different Anti-virus programs and it found nothing. At this point I had finally got my replacement batter in. I had been hoping the bad battery was why it was freezing and such, but even with the replacement battery, it was still doing it. So next I opened up the laptop and cleaned out the area near the fan where the heat link is (I believe that is what it's called). I got that out and there was quite a bit of fuzz/dust in there, but not surprising considering the laptop had never been opened up and cleaned in four years, or so I was told. After this.. and this is where the MAIN issue is. After I put it all back together, I turned it on and it told me that it needed to do a startup repair. I hit enter.. a few seconds later, it shut down. I tried again, and same thing happened. So I figured maybe I hadn't put everything back in right. So I took the back off, checked everything, made sure everything was in place and without screwing the back on, I turned it on. It ... Read more

The HDD may have failed. Boot the computer and press F12 and do the Dell Diagnostics.
On another computer, you can also download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature, burn the image to CD using IMGburn also in my signature, boot off of the newly created CD and run the short and long tests on the drive. If either fails, the HDD needs to be replaced.

I have a Dell Inspirion 5030 which I purchased about 6 months ago. About two weeks ago, a virus invaded my computer (the virus was one that continually said that you need to purchase some type of virus protection software). At any rate, with the virus I could not open internet explorer. I've since had the virus removed from my computer. However, now I cannot connect to my wireless network. I am running Windows 7 on my computer. Windows can detect the wireless network but cannot it will not connect. Can you please help me. I've trying everything that I know to do.
