Cannot remove LyricsSing IE addin and getting ads on the sides of webpages

Q: Cannot remove LyricsSing IE addin and getting ads on the sides of webpages

One of my computers started having ads popping up on the sides of web pages.  No one seems to know when it started or what they did.  I noticed that there was some kind of "key" browser adding and removed that but then noticed one called LyricsSing.  I was able to remove it from Chrome but IE will not let me disable it.  I assume it is causing the issue but I'm not sure.  How should I proceed?

Hello,
I had an unwanted, "false" antivirus rear it's ugly head into my computer a couple of weeks ago. After doing some research, I deleted it from my computer. Now, I can't seem to get rid of this virus/malware that redirects all my websearches and gives me pop up after pop up. I have tried adaware, malwarebytes, spybot, hitman and avg and although all seem to find things, nothing seems to be able to fix the issue, i have also edited the HOST file, and taken out every entry but 1, i have disabled almost all of my add-ons and the problem persists. I've read through enough of the threads to see that you have been able to help others, I am hoping you can help me.

Thanks!

Eric

A:Redirecting webpages during Google searches and unwanted popups, Do not know how to remove it

one thing I might mention, Hitman can find, but cannot seem to clean, is something it says is a "Possible variant of the TDL3 (alias Alureon) rootkit detected" If that helps at all.

Hello KT07, and welcome to BleepingComputer. As you may have noticed already, the forums are very busy at the moment, that explains why logs get behind. If you still need help, please start with posting a new HijackThis log in this topic. Please make sure you include ALL of the HijackThis log in your next reply as I am missing very important information in the current one. Copy and paste ALL the contents of the Notepad window HijackThis opens as a reply to this post (including the header information). Also describe what you may have done to fix the problem and what is happening with your system now (since you posted your last log). I will then be handling your log to help you get cleaned up.Please take note of the following:1. I will start working on your malware issues, this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.3. The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clean.4. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.5. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.Thanks,htv8

I'm trying to add a program (as a macro) to MS Mappoint using VB Learning Edition, however I cannot seem to be able to evoke the COM addin manager.

Does the Learning Edition have the ability to use Addin Manager, if not does anyone know how to create an COM addin with LE?

(Background: The program takes a calculated route from Mappoint and sends it to a handhelp GPS, well it works after a fashion as a stand alone app. MS is their wisdom only seem to hold the mid-points of calculated route segements, so as a get-around I set the fuel to low capacity, fuel consumption to high and use the re-fueling points! It takes around 20 mins to calculate! If you know of a better way let me know)

Hi, I have a problem that has stumped the software designer but there must be an answer.

I have an add-in for Microsoft Outlook 2007 - Auto-bcc.

If I close down Outlook and then reopen it, the add in still operates but if I reboot the machine, the add in has been disabled when I next open Outlook.

It is as simple and complicated as that but does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Cheers

A:Addin for Outlook 2007

It sounds to me as though that add in is being created in temporary storage.
If you log off your user and log back on again without turning off the machine, is it kept or lost?
That will give a clue as the where it is being stored.

About a month ago I began getting an error message upon opening Outlook 2007, "The Add-in "Outlook AddIns" (C:\WINDOWS\system32\uforc\mco_sjkcfdltb.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. After a brief search I came up with nothing regarding the dll file or the file path.

This morning AVG picked this up:

Hello, the first appears to be an orphan and the second a worm.Is this XP or another?Did AVG quarantine or remove the find? For the 1st....Its not unusual to receive such an error after using specialized fix tools.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message. Chin's Web page links have been removed and I cannot find the addin. Does anyone have it or know where I could find it? Now I have to copy the text from the mail message, open eCleaner, paste in the text, "clean" it, then go back through the copy process to send the email. I miss the convenience of having it part of Outlook. Thanks.

I have used this addin app many times over the years and never had a single problem. I now have a customer who has four or five xp pro boxes that I cannot install the addin on. The error message says that it is already installed and it must remove the first installation before it can install again. I hit yes to continue and then get the same error. Loop just continues. This addin is not listed on any box in the add/remove list. I do not know what is going on. He has five other xp pro boxes that the backup addin works just fine. Everything else on the affected boxes works just fine also. Microsoft's site is useless. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
Gary

Besides reinstalling outlook is there anyway to get rid of this message at the very least? Redemption doesn't seem to be doing anything one way or the other. As to how it got there, the computer was inherited from an office a few years back.

I have Visual Studio 2005 (received it as a gift within this last year .. but have yet to be proficient with it) to create the addin. I'm having a difficult time getting my feet off the ground here. I think I could use a little guidance. If I could get the first few steps down here I could take the rest of it away I think.

Hi,

I am currently trying to hide a specific Outlook addin to prevent users from being able to disable it. I have found a way to hide all COM addins, but not just the one I want to be able to control. Is this possible?

I have used this link to find out how to hide all addins.
Also, I looked at LoadBehavior here, but didn't cover anything relevant.

I think there would be some way under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Addins\<addin name>

Thanks in advance!

A:Hide Outlook Addin from Addins Menu

Wow, I don't know if you can do it that way, but I seem to recall something in macros, which oddly enough affected addins. What version of MS Office are you using?

In Word 2003 and prior, for example, it's Tools Options Security tab, then at the bottom Macro Security, which you set on HIGH (which normally prevents macro execution) and then in the Trusted tab, list that addin.  Now, if the addin is instead in some other program of the same suite, I'd imagine a similar structure exists for doing the same thing.

I don't remember hearing of any Outlook addins, so maybe you're using a much later version.  I don't use later versions, yet maybe the procedure is vaguely similar?

Excel 2007 and 2010 (probably 2013 in the near future)
I write quite a lot of code and generally create an Addin that I distrubute tobe used.
Some users like it and actually install it and it is loaded at all time, Deactivating will avoid it loading but when I update the actual Addin they 'forget' to reinstall it.
I have the vba to unload it and probably could even force a delete and copy the new version to the addin location,

The file(s) I deliver are a master file to open the Addin and as long as the 'End Session'button is not pressed the Addin is available, This works except when the user installs it.

My option just loads it but does not copy it to the Addin folder (This is intentionally so)

I have the macro's to Load it and Unload it at will but what I need is to be able to remove the AddIn (.xlam) file from the list when it is no longer active or needed without actually deleting the file from it's original location.

What I do now is manually move the file to another temporary location, open the Options and when I click the Addin I get the message that it is no longer available and if I want to remove it from the list, answer 'yes' to remove it.

My question: Can this be automated with vba withouthaving to instruct the user or user's how to go about it since it appears that Excel has no 'Remove' method for the AddIns collection.

I hope I've been able to explain my dilema. Thanks for any tips and / or feedbac... Read more

Hello,
I was hoping to get some advice and then possibly some assistance.

A friends computer was acting strangely - video and audio playback in Firefox would stutter then stop and the only way to fix was to click again.  This behavior did not behave in Chrome.  I looked over the computer and found a Bring Me Sports firefox addin.  I also noticed a lot of suspicious entries in the MBAM quarantine.  I also noticed that the proxy settings had been messed with in Firefox and there was a mysterious entry in the settings (about:config) under browser.newtabpage.blocked with a bunch of suspicious entries.  I reset that key.

There are certain sites (Picasa web) where I cm still getting a 500 internal server error.  If I click the link from another computer, it opens right up to Picasa web.  I'm concerned there is still an infection or proper cleanup is in order.

Thanks!

I have had an HP5 printer with a duplex unit for several years and I used to be able to set it to print duplex (both sides) by default. Since upgrading to Windows 2000 from Windows 98 about two years ago, I cannot get the printer to default to printing both sides. I must select this in the software every time I print.

I have the latest driver and I have set "DUPLEX=ON" on the printer's console. Still, it ignores my setting.

Any solution for this?

I tried to install a generic driver for 640x480 and that doesn't work. The screen resolution is set on 800x600 and if you put it on anything higher the screen gets all fuzzy. So two question. How do I fix this and how do I figure out what size my monitor is?

Hey guys! I hope I am posting this in a correct section?!
So my problem is that when I want to print on both sides on my Windows 7 x64 it is suggesting only "Print on both sides (Manually)". But I want it automatically.
The printer types is HP Color LaserJet CP 2025dn. The printer itself is able to do this function, because the other computers in my network which has Windows xp have an option to print on both sides (not manually) automatically.
So I really don't get this, what's the matter? Windows 7? Printer?
Thank you very much

Hi Hikeman

This is a printer function rather than Windows. I'd try a driver update and then configure the printer.

There are no devices in Device manager that are showing driver issues. I have downloaded the LAN driver package from Asus and reinstalled it. I have disabled Windows Firewall but still no luck connecting to anything outside my network. I am running AVG Anti Virus on both systems.

Last time I tried to download the CCC it said I did not have any AMD software to be detected. I just want to get rid of these stupid black bars.

Note: I am running windows 7 professional off a bootcamp partition on a mid 2010 iMac. Windows 7 runs fine though.

Hi,

Just upgraded to Win7 from XP.

I've got an HP Deskjet D4360. I downloaded the latest print drivers from HP and installed all that.

However, printing anything without margins set (EG Emails from Outlook, or Web pages) the text on all four sides of the document will be cut off. See below - the first couple of letters are missing from the left of all paragraphs. And the "1" is missing form the "Page 1 of 1" on the right.

So it looks like Windows just need to scale down the whole page a bit....

Any suggestions???

A:[SOLVED] Printing - text gets cut off at sides

If you go into the printer main panel there should be an option to align or to realign. sometimes it's just two dots that move and you stop it when they're right over each other. Is this a new printer?

Got a computer im working on and Im stumped...

Its a Dell Inspirion B120, and when in windows... their are to 1 inch thick black bars on both sides of the screen horizontally.

It is a windows issue, because it doesnt appear when in bios, and executing diagnostic tools outside of windows.

Any ideas?
thanks.

A:Black bars on both sides of screen

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling the video drivers.

If it continues, I'd say that the video chip/card is dying.

I am not sure what is wrong with my computer. It has been acting funny for weeks but Avira can't seem to fix it. My Google searches keep being redirected to incorrect website (unless I use the cached version) and randomly web pages open up on their own. These pages aren't blocked by my pop up blockers and I believe its because they open up as a web page not a pop up. They are usually those fake news articles that use the logo off of websites like Good Morning America, WWAM news etc talking about some miracle remedy or get rich quick scheme. When I try to X out of the page a series of pop-ups come up saying "if I close this page I will lose out on my chance, Click OK to close or cancel to remain on this page". If I click OK another one pops up continuing to try to convince me to stay and so on. I use task manager to end the window instead up that closes all of the pages I have open at the time. Reading through other Bleeping computer forums I see that it is commonly recommended that users with similiar issues download an app RKUnhookerLE.exe and post a log. I did that but don't know what they mean. I'm posting the log below.

Dual monitors are set up in the control panel - display - screen resolution as Monitor 1 on the Left and Monitor 2 on the Right. The mouse moves between the monitors normally, stopping at the far right on monitor 2 and far left on Monitor 1. It all looks good.
Randomly during the day the mouse changes direction and starts moving between monitors in the opposite directions.
Any ideas what would cause this? Is it a combination of short cut keys?

I've had my Compaq Presario SR1250NX for 1 1/2 years. It's a Pentium 4 using Windows XP. My monitor is a 17" flat screen (not panel).

About 2 weeks ago the monitor screen display started jumping in and out on both sides.

I set the refresh rate to its highest setting (85) and that helped but did not stop it, it just made it less frequent from happening every minute to every several minutes.

Nothing has changed in my home office electronically. My phone and cell phones are the same they've always been sitting in the same places. I haven't added any programs to my computer, just normal updates as they occur.

What could this be? What should I do next?

Thanks,
Blake

As many of you no doubt have heard, Yahoo! recently released a new toolbar which they claim detects and removes spyware. The toolbar uses technology licensed from Pest Patrol, the vendor of a popular antispyware product.

Unfortunately, it turns out that Yahoo! has decided to set the toolbar to ignore all so-called "adware". The toolbar forces the user specifically to set it to seek out adware. ................................................................

........................The reason for this decision appears to be the business relationship between Overture, which is owned entirely by Yahoo!, and the Claria corporation, which creates and distributes Gator. As it turns out, Yahoo!, through Overture, provides 31% of Claria's entire annual revenue.Click to expand...

Hi @yuensiong, Welcome to HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help. I understand that your got white patches on the laptop screen. Is the HP Support contact number you called is +65 6272 5300 (8:30am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday (excl Public Holiday)) in Singapore? Also, you can connect an external screen to the laptop to test if the problem is with the hardware or with the driver. If external screen works well, it is the hardware issue with the laptop screen, and the laptop screen need to be replaced. Let me know if you need further assistance. Regards,

Hi I have a book of small book size 100 pages and I want to print this book on both sides of paper with two pages per side.

I am using windows XP and adobe acrobat reader XI version higher than 11.0 and a old printer.

I have tried to do this and print two pages on one side by selecting multiple option in layout but there is no zoom I mean very small letters were printed and the remaining space has been wasted.

Then in order to print even pages on one side and odd pages on other side I have tried to print even pages first but failed I mean all the pages have been printed including odd pages also.
For this I have followed instructions given in the page below
http://howtoprintdoublesided.com/how-to-print-double-sided-pdf/

Kindly suggest how the above two can be achieved at the same time.
Regards,
Rupesh.

First, is it possible to print on both sides of a sheet of paper in Word 2000?
Second, is it possible to print on both sides of a sheet of paper in Word 2000 using Mail Merge?
The Microsoft website and Word 2000 help did not offer any solutions. Thank you.

A:Word 2000 Printing Both sides/Mail Merge

First of all, when you say print two sided, do you mean in one pass through the printer? That depends on the printer: is it a duplex printer and do you have the appropriate driver for it? If you're not sure, you can put the make and model here and we can probably figure it out. Generally, you can just go to the web site or the owner's manual for its capabilities.

Second, a document, mailmerge or otherwise, does not care whether you print it one- or two-sided.

Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding some games I am trying to play. I just got a new laptop, it's a cheapo - Asus K200MA, 11.6" screen, running Windows 8.1. No graphics card or anything, but it's powerful enough to play older games. I am trying to play Half Life and Elderscrolls 3 Morrowind but I have the same problem with each game. When I start the game I have black margins, approx. 1 inch on both sides of the screen, so it's not displaying in full screen mode. I have tried some fixes like going to screen resolution/advanced/IntelHD Graphics Control Panel/Maintain Display Scaling but it doesn't work. I am not sure if this is a problem with my monitor or with windows 8.1. It's a generic monitor so it doesn't have a lot of options. I've searched for a while but can't find any solutions online. Can anyone help? Thanks so much.

Cheers,

A:Games won't play in full screen...black margins on both sides

The only thying I can think of is that your gaming res isnt set to your native desktop res. I know that you said you have looked at this, bu tI suggest checking, see what your desktop res is, and make sure that games have the same setting. I play HL and dont get black margins, so I know that it will run properly.

Both my front audio ports detect devices I plug in. The issue is, both sides play at the same time even if the panning options are set to the middle to play both right and left. If I pan all the way to the right and test the right speaker for sound, it would result in both sides playing. Testing left would mute both naturally. Panning all the way to the left does the same thing. Plays both sides, if the left speaker is tested and naturally would mute both if the right is tested.

Microphones work with no problems and other devices are still being detected aside from the panning problem. All other headset experience the same panning issue including phone headsets.

I have installed the latest Realtek drivers, the back panel is working perfectly but my wired headset isn't that long which is why I'd prefer to use the front audio panels.

Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER (Not the max one)
Case: Antec Three Hundred Two

A:Front audio panel panning issue. Both sides playing at the same time.

First question have you checked the headset to make sure its not the problem, rather than the PC? Try the headset in another computer or an MP3 player or phone, etc. to see how it works with something else.

Several possibilities, assuming the headset is not the problem. (1) the front panel connector that is plugged into the motherboard port (2) the front panel headphone/jack assembly.

Many cases have both a "HD Audio" and an "AC97" connectors for the front panel headphone and mic jacks. Check and if you have both, try the one not being used to see if makes a difference (The HD Audio is the preferred connector as it has jack sensing).

Its a remote chance there is a problem with the front panel audio connection on the motherboard, so the case front panel assembly is the most likely problem. If you are capable, you can look into the front panel assembly and see if you can see anything obvious wrong or shorted and if you have an ohmmeter you could try to trace out the individual wires from the connector to the jack.

Turning on HDMI 3rd monitor screws up the Display 1 & 2 which are VGA and DVI

I usually have Skype open and 2 browsers. Monitor 1 on DVI for work and monitor 2 is VGA for facebook Twitter and that kind of stuff and Skype under the browser on monitor 2 and monitor 3 is on a second/separate video card hooked up to HDMI used for music videos and cctv cameras.

As of lately when I turn on the HDMI monitor all the programs switch sides.

Skype will move from the lower right side of monitor 2 over to the lower right side f monitor 1
The browser thats on monitor 2 will switch over to monitor 1 and the browser that was on monitor 1 will swap sides from monitor 1 over to #2.

The 3rd monitor is sometimes used for music videos but currently it is hooked up to a CCTV DVR on the DVR VGA hookup so it even does this when the TV (Monitor 3) is not on HDMI mode for the computer.

I can turn monitors 1 and 2 on and off 1000 times and nothing will happen but as soon as I turn on the HDMI everything swaps sides.

Why would powering on HDMI display do this and how can I stop open programs from swapping sides on monitor 1 & 2 when I turn on the TV (Monitor 3) even if its not in HDMI mode when powered on?

Hello,

My computer has really slowed down. The left & right sides of the screen jiggle at times (not all the time) -- the sides will go in and out about an eighth or quarter inch very quickly -- it's very shaky. TrendMicro gives me several warnings every day for this:

http://209.167.111.110/dc/959167/8/0...176279494.html

This last part of it changes into a different ending every time the warning occurs -- examples are:

http://209.167.111.110/dc/959167/8/0...181618857.html

There were some parts of some steps I couldn't pull off, though I tried. I couldn't get the second part of Step 4 to work, and I couldn't get the hijackthis utility in Step 5 to download.

You proly have tons off spyware installed on ur comp. And they are ******g up your IE. Try usin 3 + 1 standards steps. SpyBot, AdAware, Microsoft Spyware removal + if nothing of that works "reinstall g** IE".

Thanks! This fix some of the problem, but I still have background images I can't see.

A:Can't see background on webpages

Hi unaturalx and welcome to TSF !

What browser do you use and what version and service pack of XP ? Have you installed all the critical updates from Windows update ?

If this is IE7 try to reset the default settings :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Be warned that if you ask IE to remember your passwords this list will be erased, make sure you remember all the logins and passwords you use online. It'll also clear your browsing history.

Can you post a link to a website where you can't see the background pic and a screenshot of what you see ?

I have lost the ability to view web pages in IE6 in XP Pro. I can connect via dialup to internet but all I get is page cannot be displayed. Any site I try gives a blank page. I can ping myself but when I ping www.cnn.com <http://www.cnn.com> or others like this the site cannot be found. Other programs that update via internet like adaware or spybot cannot update either. Xp firewall is off. I do use Outpost Firewall 1.0. I tried turning it off but still no page is displayed. 2 thing I have installed recently are Beyond Wolfinstein (I uninstalled last night but it did not help) and I installed fix it 5 from v-com. It is similar to a host file error that sometimes happens in Win98

A:cannot view webpages

If this is something new, I'd check with your ISP to confirm they are not having a server problem. Their technicians also should be able to "see" your modem indicating the problem is on "your side" of the modem.

I tell you, one day I was going crazy with the same symptoms thinking it was MY fault or problem. But it was a Comcast issue.

First let me say that I greatly appreciate the time anyone puts in to helping me with this problem. I had a problem with a hijacker that put a html link file in my windows directory called "secure.html". And, as hijackers do, it kept setting my homepage to something like "c:\windows\secure.html". The link just advertised that I had spyware and that I could dl their program to get rid of it. Instead I spent a few hours with adaware and spybot and HijackThis and got rid of it. But, now there are a few webpages that I can't access anymore. The only definate webpage that I know is still up that I can NEVER gain access too is www.google.com, and any link on www.ask.com, you know the first links listed at the top of the page when you search for something, bussiness links and so on. These take me to the "cannot find server" screen in IE. I have another computer in the house on the same modem that accesses google fine. BTW I'm running microsoft windows xp and IE 6x and I'm on cable but not using any sort of router or network hub, the modem has usb and ethernet plugs on it and I've got the usb going to one computer and the ethernet going to the other. I know this is frowned upon but it shouldn't stop me from viewing one or more pages. So, enough of my babbling and here is a HijackThis log for you pro's to look through. (btw i found and cleared what i saw as definate threats already with HijackThis.) I've also dumped my c... Read more

A:Certain webpages won't load

Look in the The C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS file (open it with notepad)

It may contain entries like:
127.0.0.1 www.google.com

These will have been placed there by a virus, and prevent you reaching the site(s).

The Hosts file is a system file, so unless you enable the viewing of system files, you will not find it. It is just "Hosts" with no extension.

Download Stinger.exe from McAfee and run it.

You have only posted a portion of the HiJack This log.
Using "Save log" produces the full log in notepad. Post a full copy of that back.

I put this in "Other Browsers" because it is in every browser.
When I attempt to open up some webpages, (notably Google and tumblr), I get this error message in firefox:
The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
A blank page in Google Chrome, and IE doesn't even work at this point... it always crashes.

Hi Guys,

When I am on the Internet and I was to view photos or watch videos the web page becomes all scrambled. I am currently using Internet browser Opera. I was using Google Chrome, Mozilla & Maxathon and they have all come up with the same issue.

I have attached a screen shot if what is happening.

Hopefully it all makes sense!

Make sure your Windows updates are current. Also video drivers. If no help, post more info about your computer: see #2 here Information Microsoft support members need from you
It's not a browser issue.

I put this problem into the other browsers section because it is consistent throughout all browsers. When I try to go on certain webpages, (namely deviantart) it shows as a white screen, except in Internet Explorer(where it shows an error 403, this website declined to show this webpage).
None of the other websites that this happened to were that important, and I don't remember what they were. And lastly, my computer could access these sites perfectly before.

A:Certain webpages not working

Make sure you're typing the URL fully and correctly. If you get the 403 after trying to log in to a website, make sure your details are correct and haven't changed since last time.

If this is a family computer, check the parental lock settings. It could be that the child is spending too much time on particular sites and the parents have blocked them.

I have a fast cable internet connection.

I recently had my computer formatted. I am in the process of getting everything set up and have noticed that some web pages don't display properly. Some pages are ok and display normally and some don't. The whole web page is displayed but it's smaller and has a 2 inch blank gap on either side of the page. Vertically it's normal but the gaps on each side are really bothering me.

I don't know if this is a display problem with my monitor or some web setting I need to change. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

In the last week or so, my computer has stopped displaying webpages altogether. Ping seems to work and I can access the web to download and install software (having downloaded the install programs onto a flash drive on another computer). The problem computer is a HP Pavilion dv9700 running Vista SP2 with an AMD Turion 64 x2 - TL60. Have IE9 and Firefox both running and same result with both. Had Microsoft Security Essentials - but removed it to see if it was causing problems. MalwareBytes does not identify anything. What to do?

I've gone into internet options and checked that the tickbox in Advanced settings is checked for Playing sound in webpages.

I've also been through and saved a missing.reg file? Only when i go to run this i get the following error messages:

The key will be restored on top of key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. All value entries and subkeys of this will be deleted. Do you want to continue,

if i click no, obviously nothing happens. If i click yes i get the following:

Cannot import missing.reg: The specified file is not a registry file. you can import only registry files.

Please could you help?

I need help.. I don't know what to do.

My internet explorer browser suddenly started opening all these different windows with all this strange stuff on the webpages...........

I was freaked out... I tried to close the windows but they were opening too fast..... so I pushed the button on the
laptop to shut it off. I'm on my desktop now.

I then disconnected the laptop from the internet and turned it back on.

Immediately opened up Winpatrol and cleaned all the cookies and stuff that I was suspicious of.. due to the date and time.

Then I ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it reported 1 infection.. to with:

Heuristics.Reserved.Word.Exploit File C:\Documents and Settings\MY_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Explorer.EXE

It was check marked to be removed.. so I clicked "Remove Selected"

Program told me everything couldn't be removed and it needed to restart my computer.. I clicked for it to restart...

Then the laptop couldn't restart normally... twice.... I finally clicked for it to restart with the last known working configuration........

THANK GOD... IT RESTARTED

But.... now .. I ran Malwarebytes' again and it still finds the Explorer.EXE file..........

What do I do????

Well here's the scoop. I don't know what exactly happened recently but for some real stupid reason, I cannot access websites on IE. Be forewarned, I don't like IE nor like to use it but for windows updates, I do use it. Websites work perfectly and open up in Firefox which I'm using right now and Opera. No website that I've tried on IE opens up. I'll attach the image file so you guys can see what could be the problem. By the way, I don't know if this helps but just a couple days back I updated my java program from Sun.

Oh and one more thing, I have the google toolbar on IE. When I open up the google homepage from there, it works fine. No problem at all.

A:IE won't open webpages

Try uninstalling the google toolbar. Someone else had the same problem not long ago and it turned out to be a google toolbar issue.

A:Can't Open Any Webpages

Hello mindgamze and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

Not being able to connect to any web pages is usually an issue with the internet connection itself. If this computeris connected to the internet through a home network then I would recommend posting a questionin the Networking forum and have them assist in checking that the network is setup and configured properly. If itis connected directly through broadband or dial-up then goto the XP forum.

Cheers.

Okay,I'm pretty good with computers and with solving problems but for some reason I am stuck on this one computer issue and I am not sure how to fix it although I really believe that there is a simple explanation for it. I will try to explain the problem to the best of my ability.I use Yahoo.com as my starting homepage. for some reason the homepage does not load up with todays information or todays date, meaning when I open my internet and yahoo loads up it will have a past date like Nov-29 -2009. I know that it's simple enough for me to hit F5 and refresh that page but I shouldn't have to do that and it occurs in other pages as well. to me it seems that something it's not set up correctly, even when I go to other pages it will bring up the information from the last time I was there instead of todays information and todays date. Many Thanks,WallyEDIT: Email addy removed to protect you from spambots and to keep the discussion on the forum since that is the purpose of them.
