Alright, Since the Devs are too busy with being in beta and all i thought maybe some smart people could find out what the issue is, I try to startup the log in program and it gets this error everytime
No connection to e-Games web server can be established

You may not be connected to the internet properly or you may be experiencing some lag problems connecting to our web server.

Please refer to the game website or game forum for help (Did this, people in the forums really dont care at all), or wait a while before trying to start the game via this e-Games launcher again.

Any ideas on how to fix this, Im obviously on the internet, And everthing is going smooth and fast.

A:Knight Online error.

1) are you using a router?

If so you will probably have to go into your router settings and open up the ports the game is using.

2) How about a software firewall such as zonealarm?

If you are running one you will have to tell it to let the program through.

3) can you ping their webserver?

4) run a tracert to their it a clear path?

Tryed malwearbytes and superantispywear and Hi Jack this; was told theirs something in advanced somewear in vista a box i can click the box to disable going offline but can t find it and used sys restore hoping if i go back several days that would fix it but so far i have no luck ! ?

So what now i so need a fix to shut down the pesty your off line errors.

Need Help Please; error never ends fingers crossed .

A:Off LIne pop up error when online

Internet Explorer has it's own internal "Offline" mode which you can select without physically being offline.
This allows you to effectively "disconnect" your web-browser from the Internet for such tasks as, say, constructing a website, without disconnecting any of your other internet-related tasks (emails, program updates etc.).

If you do not want Internet Explorer to be offline, click File on the menu bar and make sure "Work Offline" is not ticked. Click "Work Offline" to remove the tick if necessary.

No graphics device with hardwaresupport...
I recently upgraded to Windows Vista and for the most part it has been fine. A few issues are really annoying however. One is the error I get when trying to play MMORPG's such as Anarchy Online. The error is: No graphics device with hardwaresupport was found using DirectX.

This game and others played fine until I upgraded, so I know my card supports it(see sig).
I have tried all the usual suggestions: XP compatability mode, run as admin etc, to no avail.

The card is an ATI Radeon 1650 and has the latest drivers.

Any ideas as to the problem? Another issue that arises is from Battlefield 2142 when it says it has stopped working. The problem module is Directx9.dll etc... Compatability does not work here either. So I am thinking the driver doesn't Directx10 or something. If thats the case , is there a way to revert back to 9.0c?

A:Anarchy Online error because of DirectX

You can download Directx 9 and install it on Vista. Several older games and applications still need DX9 libraries to run on Vista.

Here's the download for DX9:

Hey there,

I am getting an error message when trying to RUN an online game called Poolsharks.
I've been playing the game for the last few months on my old computer and it worked fine, however, i've recently upgraded to a new computer and when i try to run the game, i get this message:

"Failed within client game: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception HRESULT: 0x8007000B)"

I've read somewhere that this is caused by trying to run a 32bit application on a 64bit system, but I've been searching through google and cant seem to find a straight forward solution to the problem.

I am kinda new to the board and a virtual novice when it comes to technical computer stuff, but i would really appreciate any help with this issue.

A:Error code when trying to run an online game.

Is your new computer using a 64 bit version of Windows?

Also, check your Event Viewer for errors related to your game. To do this:

Click on Start, type "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Expand the Windows logs section, then select the Application log files entry.
Scroll down the list by time until you get to the time where the game gives the error code.
Double click on any error messages that you find and copy/paste the content into your next post.

Hi All,

I'm getting a strange DNS error - never had this before. Here is my scenario:

- I am using windows XP Pro, SP2

- I am connected to my house network OK. (I can access the shared drive on my machine from my mac). My network consists of a 4 port hub connected to my Airport base station, which is connected to my Cable model.

- I have 2 macs and one XP machine. Both my macs work perfectly. I can browse all I want online.

- I can't get online with my Windox machine. I can ping any IP, either on my network or outside.

- If I telnet from my XP box to my network getway (airpot base station) on port 53 (the DNS port) I get "Could not open connection to the host, on port 53". If I try the same thing from my macs I can talk to the DNS.

- I just tried telneting to port 80 to see if I can reach outside machines and I can't. the only thing that I seem to be able to do with the outside is ping.

- Does anyone have any ideas? This machine was working fine, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the network, rather something has happened on my machine.

(I reinstalled the driver for my ethernet card, nothing changed...)

A:Solved: Can't get online... strange dns error

Hum - looks like it may have been my bitdefender firewall that was blocking all traffic... very strange. I changed the configuration and now it seems to work. BitDefender is terrific, BTW (I'm not an expert)!

C&C Generals works fine for offline play, and never crashes, but when I try to play online, it gives me an error. It says that 65544_65536_english.rtp is missing.

I have looked around for a solution and checked for updates and patches (when it says the file is missing, it offers to download it, but this doesn't work) and I managed to find the file to download it, but I have no idea where to put it in order for it to work.

As I said, the offline play is fine and I managed to play online without any problems on may old PC. Can anyone help?

Iím a teacher at a university. Iíve built a computer program on CD (using Visual Basic and Free Basic) that should work on Windows compatible machines and that I distribute to students who then use it to take graded exercises and exams. When the program is first installed, some critical files are added to a folder in the studentís c:\program files\lrcd\ directory. Some of these files keep track of the studentsí name and scores from graded exercises and exams. Scores on graded exercises are recorded in the studentsí \lrcd\ directory and are updated when the student gets a higher score than in the past.
When it comes time for the student to take an exam, the program asks for him/her to enter their student ID. It then (using Perl) locates that student in a grade book online and records 1 point for that student on that test in the appropriate grade book. This is done so that I will know that the student started the exam and canít restart it without my permission. The CD then administers the exam. When the student finishes the exam, the score is recorded on the studentsí computer hard drive, so we will have a backup copy of the scores in case things go wrong, and the computer then ships the completed graded exercise and exam scores to the appropriate grade book online.
All of this works correctly for 80-90% of the students using a wide variety of computers, and on all the computers I use 100% of the time. However, a number of problems are occurring that I do not understand... Read more

A:error transferring information online

There's quite a lot of points here and, I have to say, not that much to go on.

My gut feeling is that you may have difficulty solving some of these problems unless you do a bit of re-writing of your software - I'm not sure you have much of the information that would help solve the problems.

The most useful thing would be to have a log of what is going on. Is your software capable of producing logs when it is doing things such as communicating with the server, recording user data and so on? Windows has an event log that you may have come across, but it's often easier to just write logs out to a file in the program folder or user folder. You often find having a list of the things the program thinks it's doing (and the order in which they are being done) and the data on which it is making its decisions pinpoints problems very quickly. This may even be true on an installation that seems to be working correctly.

If you haven't got this functionality, write a sub that maintains a log file and have it write data whenever called with a simple string (make it add the date and time to each line as well). Don't just register that the event has occurred, but also include relevant data: record the filename data was written to or the data received from the server. Then, when you do something such as store data to a file, read or write to the server, etc., you will know exactly what is going on. You can include a setting in the program to switch this functio... Alright, let's start from the beginning.

So after buying the game, and downloading it, the launcher appeared at faced the "cannot save game data" error. Searching around the forums for a few hours, I could not find an answer. So, instead of installing LotRO in my Program Files(86x) folder, I installed it in (C: ). It bypassed the error, and continued to the Update Game Data. For six hours, it downloaded; six hours. But right as it got to 15900/16083 an error popped up and I was forced to reinstall the game, losing all the progress I had made.

I run on Vista. Unfortunately, I don't exactly remember what the error is.

I'm positive my comp can run the game; I've checked in the "Can you RUN it?" website, and my comp surpasses the recommended status. Not to mention, my comp can handle Crysis.

I reinstalled sucessfully, back into the (C: ), and the launcher is currently Updating Game Data. It was at 7500/16083, but it still said 0% next to it.

Here is a screencap:
I decided to reinstall the game and use the path C:/program files (x86)/turbine/lord of the rings online.

So far, nothing has changed. Thanks a million for the help.

Hi, for the first time, I tried online faxing via the MS fax wizard.

For test purposes I tried sending a fax to my home phone number (keying in my 7 digit phone number).

Whereupon I heard various weird tones, as well as a busy-signal tone. And an error message saying fax didn't get thru due to busy signal.

Except my phone line was not busy!

No indication that my HP laserjet printer was receiving anything (usually when I print, the LED panel lights up green. This time it remained yellow.

Furthemore, MS insists on imposing a cover page, whereas all I want is to fax a page downloaded from www.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

I'm using IE, and my computer switches to images either when I'm trying to get to a website and occasionally once I'm already on the site. The last day and a half it's been almost impossible to get to and stay on a website. Then a few minutes ago, while using Firefox, I was on YouTube when I had another problem pop up. YouTube was the only thing open, no other webpages, and I wasn't downloading or running anything else that I know of, and I had just finished updating my virus protection and scanning for viruses and spyware. I've attached the pic of the message I got (The site here has changed since i was last here so I hope I'm doing this all the correct way.)

There's one other thing I want to mention, but I'm not sure if it's connected. Until recently, I typically didn't have the volume on for my speakers. I'm now hearing a strange noise every once and awhile, and I don't know if this was happening before or not since the volume was off. The noise almost sounds like the power went off and then back on really super a clicking noise. It's hard to describe, but when it's happened, I haven't noticed anything happening. All the green lights on my modem are on so I don't know what's going on.

I'm trying to think if there is anything else that might be connected that I should let you know...... Well, that's all I can think of right now. I'm heading to bed, but I wil... Read more

Hey guys,

I went out to one particular website called to order a product for my mom. When it's time for me to check out and about to make a purchase, it gives me an error saying that "the website cannot display the page". The error is HTTP 500 Internal Server error.

I've tried that with Internet Explorer. I also tried with Mozilla Firefox, but Firefox bears a similar result - the webpage is blank, and nothing happens. The most likely causes were the website is under maintenance or the website has a programming error. To my own opinion, it could lie somewhere other than those problems.
So my question is to you is, which problem lies on? My computer or simply just the server that is hosting the online store? Do you people have any suggestions?

A:HTTP 500 error each time when I go to an online store

It's a problem at their end. Try another website for your purchase.

This problem has been occuring with my copy of Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition.

I have been having an error occur while using Windows Media Center. Almost all of the features work well. The music, television and movies work as they should.

Whenever I try to access any feature on Windows Media Center that uses internet acces, this is where problems occur. Whenever I acces these icons:

internet tv(beta)
Online Media: Program Library
Online Media: Explore
Online Media: Video Game news
Online Media: Learn How
Online Media: New Extenders

At most, windows media center continues to run for a few seconds before locking up. No text is shown, no new images appear. I can maximize and minimize the window but I cannot close windows media center by clicking the close icon or the 'x' symbol in the upper right.

This happens while running in administrator mode as well.

Just to prevent confusion.

In order for me to close Windows Media Center, I have to open the task manager. While opened, the task manager tells me that Windows Media Center is still running while the software is locked up. I highlight the Windows Media Center under the 'task' tab and tell Windows Task Manager to end the task of Windows Media Center.

After a few seconds, a new window appears telling me that Windows Media Center is not responding and closes the window. After a brief search, by Windows, to see what is causing this issue, Windows proceeds to restart Windows Media Cen... Read more

I was hoping I could get some help for my daughter's computer, which is my old work computer.

Win 2000
Pent III, 790 MHz
128 MB Ram
(yes it's old, but she's 9, and she likes it )

When she tries to dial up, she receives the Error 619: specified port is not connected. It will dial, verify username and password, register user, and then it disconnects with the above referenced error.

It was working fine last night. The only thing she did, that I am aware of, is to remove the cable from her comp, and attach it to the phone so she could call her friend. This morning she plugged it back into the comp, and has not been able to connect since. We tried it in both line ports in the back of the machine, to be sure, but I know it is in the correct one, because it's the one it has always used. Any assistance would be GREAT, and as always, I appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance-

So I got the "Orange Box" for Christmas. It's a very good compilation by the way, and I reccomend it.

I'm running on Windows XP with a ATI Sapphire Radeon X700 Pro. Almost all of the games in the package work just fine, without any issues.

However, I cannot play in Team Fortress 2. I can get to the main menu just fine, but whenever I try to

Load a map,
Join a server, or
Enter the options menu,

The game crashes and gives this STOP error on a blue screen:

The error isn't specific to this game. When I try to play Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, another online Valve game, I get the same error when I try to do the same things.

Also, the original Half-Life and Counter-Strike games get the same message even before I can access the man menu.

Here is what I have tried so far:

-Reinstalling numerous drivers to their latest versions. (Didn't do a thing.)
-Checking my RAM for bad memory. (Nothing.)
-Disabling DEP. (Nuh-uh.)
-Using numerous combinations of "launch options" (Steam users will know what I'm talking about. And, no help there.)

If any one of you can help, I would REALLY appreciate it. I've been wanting to try this for a few months now, and it bugs me that I can't.

I apologize in advance if this belongs in a different forum, but the cause is so undetermined that I want to start in the "general" area.

My problem is that my web banking all of a sudden this year started abnormally ending my sessions. Not a timeout, but just throwing up a "system error" screen when I'd click on a normal link in a normal session.

My bank is M&T, a major US bank. I've been using their web banking since 2002 in Win98, 2000, XP, Win7, and MacOS environments, and although it's not very forward or cutting edge, it's always worked - until around February this year when the problems began.

Their customer service - online and by phone - was useless with this. I'd tell them that I'd already taken obvious actions like clearing my cookies/cache, rebooting my computer, etc., and they'd provide boilerplate advice suggesting I do all those things.

Finally last week I contacted a friend of mine who is a manager with the bank, and she put me in touch with an IT manager there who has been great working with me to try to identify and fix the problem.

So far it's been much more me sending my reports to him when I have an abnormal session end.

But today he sent me a suggestion, and I'm posting the relevant part here:

Potential cause: session data is lost because of antivirus software activity.

This problem can occur when antivirus software scans the Web application files. During the scanning proces... Read more

Hello, I have visited this forum many times, however this is my first post. I have never posted to a forum before, so please excuse me if I make an error.

My issue it that I was online browsing Facebook a couple weeks ago when suddenly and with no warning my screen flashed with distorted lines, then went blank, and finally showed me a BSOD error screen with error code 0x0000001E (0x0000000000000010A, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).

Being as the first time I received a BSOD on this PC (built only 4 months ago), I decided to try rebooting, which worked fine. The next day, the same thing happened again. It randomly occurs without any warning whatsoever and always when I'm online.

I contacted a trusted friend who is knowledgeable about gaming PC's (I am new to gaming PC's and newer PC technology, and he helped me get the parts and build this) and he discovered that the motherboard BIOS version was outdated and couldn't properly run the CPU the way it needed to. I carried out a BIOS update and the computer seemed to run much smoother and the fans were even much quieter. After that was successfully accomplished, I also set up my GPU/APU Crossfire successfully.

Everything seemed OK until a few days after that when I received another BSOD that was totally different than the others. That BSOD Error was 0x000000D1 (0x0000000000000010A, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88002969OE1)

A couple of days ago, I was trying to play games on Neopets, which use Shockwave, but I couldn't play because an error message would come up.

This is the first message:
"Director Player Error - This application requires an Xtra (Flash Movie..) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder/s."

And then when I click Ok, this error message pops up:
"This Shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems. Shockwave is unable to continue."

The error message comes up everytime I try to play Neopets games, and never used to have any problems like this. What does this mean and what should I do?

SO recently I switched from Optimum Online to Verizon Fios Internet, and ever since then I can't watch videos on a specific site that I have a paid subscription to. I still have the cable internet so when I switch to that it works fine, but when I use the verizon internet connection I get this message:
Windows MEdia PLayer cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

I called Verizon's help line, and the very unhelpful man told me it's not their problem, and that I should call the website for help, but obviously it is their problem because it works fine with every other internet connection except verizon.

Please please help!

Hi all,

When I go to play Battlefield 2 online and go to connect to a server my PC reboots with a blank BSOD. After using ERD Commander 2k5, it says that my crash is from a DRIVER_IRQL_IS_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have read up on this but with so many different causes, I was wondering if someone could find out mine. I would really appreciate it. Attached is my dumplogs. (most recent 3).

Thanks a lot.

A:Gettin Driver_IRQL error when launching Battlefield 2 to go online

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

All your minidumps crash with a bugcheck of D1. Possible ram problem/damaged page file.

The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Go HERE and follow the instructions.

Instructions for creating a new page file can be found in reply #11 of the above thread.

Ok, I need big time help. Earlier today, our DSL modem was down, so I put my Outlook XP in "offline" mode (File->Work Offline) so that it would stop bouncing my mail. After the server came back up, I tried to put it back in online mode (disable File->Work Offline) and each time I get the following message:
The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

I have already tried to restart outlook and also rebooted and still it won't go back "online".

Can someone please tell me how to FORCE it to go back online?

Try going into Internet Explorer and do File > Work Offline (uncheck). It's all connected together (Outlook and IE) If you are able to view web pages, open Outlook and you should be able to send/receive mail (though the problem is an unusual one)

I use XP.
I no longer use Verizon DSL to connect to the Internet. Haven't used it in three years.
Switched to Broadband through Cablevison.
A few weeks ago, when I turned on my PC to connect to the Internet, the following error message came up on my screen:
Verizon Online Update Error connecting to Internet. Could not detect a DDM enabled router connetion to the PC 0x82600264.

i have tried two separate fixes:
First, I tried to remove any Verizon programs still on my PC, but there was nothing regarding Verizon on the list.
Second, I tried the msconfig on the startup tab but there was nothing about Verizon to disable.

i called Verizon and my Cable company, and they could not help me.

Also, when I eventally connect to the internet through my current broadband provider, the top of the screen reads " Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Verizon Online"
How do I eliminate that as well?

I think there are other people with the same problem as me since I have seen similar posts about this. Can you help me eliminate this error message? Thanks so much.

In order to run the program in Windows 7, which I did previously, you had to change compatibility to Win XP (SP 2) and run as an Administrator. I have tried that with this program, and Windows 8 will not load it. It gives me a Runtime error before the log in screen.

Any ideas on what I can do to run the program?

So I installed ESO about 2 days ago, which was followed by boot up problems and BSOD's, which i managed to fix by running the windows boot up fix over and over again.

But now, I cant run windows update because of error C80001FE.

I have tryed running the sfc/scannow, but it gets to 1% and then just stops. I have tryed these fixes too: You receive error code 0xC80001FE when try to connect to the Windows Update Web site or to the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates
(I know they are for windows vista and older, but it was worth a try)

Anyone have any clue what might cause this?

A:Error C80001FE, after installing Elder Scrolls Online.

Welcome to SF.

Since your issues seem to have started with the installation of Elder Scrolls Online, I recommend uninstalling it. You can always reinstall it, after we fix the current issues. Of course, if uninstalling it resolves the issues, then you know what you problem is.

I do not know this program, but if it turns out to be the cause of your problems, we can look into that later.

I keep getting the BSOD, with the same error code, and always showing tcpip.sys as the problem. I haven't analyzed the errors bit by bit, so I don't know if there are any differences. I have gotten these now on 7/16, 7/27, and 8/13. After one of the first two, I did a restore to about a week or two earlier. Since the second one, I have updated all drivers. I've run multiple virus scans and found nothing. After this most recent error, I double checked my drivers related to networking and get the message that they are current. Since the last error, I've run a check of the hard drive and memtest (7 cycles), and found no errors. Also ran yet another virus scan and found nothing. I've even checked for updates for my router, and there are none available. I use a wireless connection. I've been using facebook every time (and probably have at least one other tab open), but I also have no problems 99% of the time in the same circumstances. The other tabs open are never the same. Not sure what else to try to resolve this. I tried to fill in my computer specs, but there are several I'm not sure of.

Thanks in advance for help.

Our connection is a DSL one thru wifi.l We have three laptops, a week ago everything was fine then last tuesday only a SINGLE laptop was able to connect to wifi ( the one im using right now ) the weird thing is that my laptop ( one of the two laptops that cannot connect ) skype is online ( i can chat, call and view webcams ) and when we turn off the wifi for a minute and turn it back on - all three laptops can connect to the wifi but after 30mins or so an error will appear ERROR 105 and the DNS lookup failed.
Ive tried troubleshooting it thru cmd ( the ones i saw on the internet ) someworks but after an hour or so it wont work anymore.
the three laptops Mine is vista home premium and the 2 laptops are Windows 7; even phones that has wifi - Samsung, Nokia and Iphone cannot connect to the wifi also.
our firewall is turn off, no viruses etc.

Im leaning towards that the wifi ( hardware ) or the DSL provider is at fault here.

PS. A week ago and last morning my laptop informed that " the IP address is being used by another device, that we have the same IP address and that ill be experiencing connection difficulties " in what i recall.

I would strongly suggest using either the Ultimate Boot CD or a Live Linux distro to copy the files off your hard drive onto an external drive. There's no telling what repairs will be required, so it's best to backup everything now.

Or, you can get a drive caddy from a local store (Radio Shack/BestBuy in the USA) and slave the hard drive to another computer to recover your data.

After that........
So, if you don't have a system restore point you can:
- check your hard drive to see if there are any other recent registry backups that can be used
- attempt a repair install of Windows8: (I've never done it myself)
- wipe the hard drive and start over.

Run these hardware diagnostics before starting the repairs: Initial Hardware Diagnostics

um, hello, this is the first post of mine here, so please go easy on me
to the main point, i recently re-installed my windows into Windows 7 x64 and currently having a few times BSOD while playing TERA online, which is never happened before (using Windows 7 x86).

First BSOD happened with error code 0x0000003b, and i try to resolve it myself by reading a similar thread here. From what i read the problem is caused by graphic driver, some of programs like MSI Afterburner and OC then i removed the program as the suggestion said, restore the default system, run disk check, executing command line sfc /scannow, also update the graphic driver.

i thought everything is back to normal again, then suddenly approximately an hour, another BSOD come with code 0x0000007e when i was playing TERA, and that make me desperate and post here.

please help me to resolve this problem, thank you for your time and attention

So it appears that your graphics card/ graphics card river is at fault here:

It does indeed seem to have the latest driver so lets do some stress testing to make sure that the problem does not lie in the GPU its self, or that it is not over heating:

FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net

FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature" (BurnIn test in newer versions).
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
- Click "Quit" to exit

Keep an eye on the temperatures, and report them here if they go above 80c then chances are there is a heat issue, if the test simply causes a crash like you have been experiencing, then it may be a problem with the GPU simply having a hardware level error.

If the Furmark test goes alright try running OCCT , start from the second part of the tutorial to tes... Read more

Windows 8.1

I did a sfc/scannow because my monitor went black a couple of time (not a monitor problem though!)

Windows Resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBSD\CBS.log. Note that Logging is not currently supported in offline servicing scenarios.

I copied the Log to desktop, but have no idea what to look for! So it doesn't help me.

I read here on Eightforums an article from Brink about the option:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

tried this but

Copied the Dim Log to Desktop but I am as equally ignorant on the information within, as I am with the CBS Log

so now I have no idea what to do???

would prefer avoiding the Refresh Option (have all kinds of Software installed)

I have a desktop computer running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. My computer suffered from an improper shutdown during a power outage. I am getting multiple error messages on logging in, and the sfc /scannow command shows several corrupt files, including msvcr80.dll and multiple others, preventing programs like Microsoft Word from running properly.

I am getting the message after running sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt that
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. I used the findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" command to get this log outputted to a sfcdetails.txt log, and it shows which files are corrupt.
I then decided to turn to DISM, in an elevated command prompt, to ensure the component store was good, so that SFC can fix the files. This is where I am getting lost.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth states that: The component store is repairable. However, when I run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth , I am told (after some minutes of it running) that DISM failed, no operation was taken, with an error code of 0x80240021.

Looking at the dism.log file, I am seeing a very long log. These are the initial lines:

Reposted from Am I infected?:

I just ran MBAM again in a quick scan and it has 113,533 objects infected. This time I saved a log and it looks like it froze from that now. Don't have too much time to mess with this because I'm a graduate student. Any solutions? Maybe I should try erasing part of them at a time? I don't really have time to run logging software, I already know where the files are and I can get the program to find everything. Maybe after I delete the files.

Hey guys,
I've been getting BSODs seemingly randomly but it occurs mostly when i'm watching videos which require divx I think. That is what i've noticed, anyway, it does happen at other times and the BSOD says this IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and this driver seems to cause it ntoskrnl.exe at this address ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0.

At first I thought it was related to some "files" that I had on my laptop but I used Eraser with the 35 pass erasure method and it still happens. Although, that did clear up another issue I was having which was that after a few hours of use or putting my laptop to sleep it would freeze to a point where i had to hard re-boot. I have defraged my laptop since then and the fragmentation is less than 1% .

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

Recommend removing your ASUS utilities through Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program. They can provide software interfaces with the hardware for overclocking, and even when the overclock is not enabled, that interface can cause instability. They are also not needed for the system to function properly and may reduce system resources.

Analysis:Your crashes were DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.

Any ideas?

Has anyone seen this problem before?

When I try to play video clips online 90% of the time Media Player errors out with this less that helpful message:

"Windows Media Player has encountered an error and must close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

That's it. Nothing else to go on. BTW, the other 10% it plays just fine. It plays all local media fine, too.

So far, I have downloaded the most recent MP v9, installed it, uninstalled it, re-installed it, all to no avail. And you can't uninstall the default version that comes with XP - it doesn't show anywhere in Control Panel.

I'm running XP Home on a new Toshiba Satellite 2455 laptop (2.4ghz, 512mb, 60g).

Any help in solving this would be appreciated.

Thanks, -Z-

First, of course try different sites/media to rule out corrupted files on the other end of your connection.

Does it have any problems running local files?

Go into control panel--->administrative tools--->event viewer and post back any warning or error messages posted by the computer in the application log or system log around the time the event occurs.

Hello, folks!
I come to you with quite a problem.
My internet doesn't work, but only so far as browsers go.
I am on an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 7. In Normal Mode, I am able to swiftly and easily use things like Skype and even Steam; video games that go online or have an online component also seem to work, and can patch themselves or download updates. However, I absolutely cannot use any of my browsers. I have three of them installed: IE, Chrome and Firefox, and when I try to use any of them I get the same error.
My main browser is Chrome, and when I attempt to navigate to a page, the browser hangs for a little while and then displays the error, "This webpage is not available."
Sometimes I will see this error flash in the page for a split second before my default 'start' page (which really isn't a website) turns up.
All of the browsers lag. Chrome in particular says 'Loading...' for some time before it even loads the start page.
However, in Safe Mode, all of my internet functionality is present and flawless. My browsers open speedily and connect to the internet in seconds without any problems.
I am not on my home network; I am on a Verizon network at my cousins' house. Obviously the issue is not with the network, and believe me, I checked and checked and checked again to be sure of that, but I did not start having this problem until I got here and tried to log on. Initially, when I did so, I had the ... Read more

Hi guys,

I'm a new member here and require help. I've put my specs up in profile so hopefully you should be able to see that.

I'll explain the sort of problems I've been getting recently. I used to get BSOD randomly about a month or so ago. Someone told me to do memory test and hard drive check, which I did. My pc was working fine for sometime after that, not sure if it was because of those tests. Anyway, so recently now when I watch video online within about 10-15 minutes computer freezes, screen freezes and I get weird noise from speakers. I suppose the noise might just be because everything froze. Funny thing is computer only crashes when I watch videos from one website. If I watch from youtube or somewhere else it doesn't, neither from any media player, vlc or other. That's one issue.

Second similar issue when I play online game (Cross fire), same thing happens. Within about 10-15 minutes it freezes, the weird noises don't come all the time though after it freezes.

Third problem, once the pc crashes and I shut it down directly, then I turn it back on, it turns on but doesn't respond, doesnt start windows or the screens that come before, monitor also doesn't turn on so just doesnt boot up the system. Sometimes it makes some kind of noise (not all the time), can't describe it really. After some time though when I turn it on it starts up normally.

I've tried to search and try to solve the problem but couldn't really understand what is causing the crashes. I looked int... Read more

Hello, I had an old forum which you told me it has been moved to Crashes/BSOD and I have to submit my 2 zip files ( + I think the errors have to do with Graphic driver or graphic in general, but I'm not sure what exactly my computer does when getting these BSOD errors! So here it is in the attached files. Please tell me if there is anything else you need or I need to do, thank you.

The full error that comes up is "Exception Processing Message 0xc00C0013 Parameters 0x7588023C 0x833799BC 0x7588023C 0x7588023C" which basically happens on certain game-maps or while using certain guns, in this game.

Here is a picture of the error itself:

and then the game shuts off. Any ideas?

Recently I have been getting crashes while playing games. The screen will go black and the sound will lag and then it will crash. This does not persist outside of gaming. Crashes usually happen about 5-10 minutes within the session. I've updated my video driver and directx and ran a few passes with the windows RAM test with no errors. I've also reset my computer to factory conditions and instead of a "ntoskrnl.exe" driver crash the dump files now says its "hal.dll" issue. I downloaded software from western digital to test my hard drive and nothing came up. I'm at a loss here. Any suggestions?

I was having the similar problem. I notice you're running an Nvidia card. Try reverting to the March driver release 347.88. Ever sense the GTAV release it has been jacked up. I did that and runs great now.

Hi I just built my computer about a month and a half ago and made sure my hardware was secured tightly and properly onto the mother board. I updated all of the drivers for the PC to the best of my knowledge due to receiving BSOD in the beginning partly because the drivers were not up to date. After the driver updates everything is working great from playing games and the usual day to day use of the PC. But when I started streaming two windows of online videos from either youtube or any other video site, thats when it started to give me the BSOD. But it was sporadic and not crashing with every single video playback. It would crash on some videos and not on others. I did some research and found a software called bluescreenview which captures the BSOD codes and this was what I found: hal.dll+12a3b. I don't understand what this code means because based on my research it could be multiple factors. Please help me. Thank you.

- OS: Windows 7 64bit
- OS was full retail
- Age of the system is about two months old now.
- Age of the OS installation is about two months old.

Other hardware specs:
CPU: Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz
8 Gigs of RAM

A:BSOD playing youtube or any online video streams error hal.dll+12a3b

All of them are the HAL for Windows reporting that your CPU has detected an internal failure. Given the strong consistency for these errors (they're all identical with the same cpu cache bank referenced), I'm afraid your CPU has most likely kicked the bucket.

Before you proceed on anything, if you have your system overclocked in any way, shape or fashion, reset to factory defaults. It's good sense that despite previous success with overclocking, if a system starts getting unstable, the first thing one should blame is the overclocking and reset as a result. Even if it isn't, it can easily be returned to its previous settings.

Anyways, I have sometimes seen software bugs arise that would cause this, and even once I seen a video card cause this problem (how, I have absolutely no clue). First of all, if you have any software that came with your motherboard besides the drivers, uninstall them. I've found they are very buggy as well as gimmicky, and strangely they have usually caused WHEA errors like this, making it appear the hardware is at fault. Second, update your BIOS if you haven't already, as that can potentially cause this. Lastly, run MemtestCL on your video card. Note that since you have an ATI card, you'll need to download and install the ATI APP SDK first, as it requires OpenCL.

Those should cover any potential edge cases that could create these WHEA errors. However, my opinion would be that this is certain hardware (CPU). The causes mentioned previously have the pot... Read more

Unsure what is causing these but has happened 4+ times on wizardry and once on Ragnarok, most other games don't seem to cause any problems. I've attached the files I received from the SF Diagnostic Tool as a zip. Can anyone help me?

May I ask you some questions before we start?

Earlier you had a nvidia GPU? The crash dumps upto 01.04.2013 indicates to nvidia GPU (a very known issue it was).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

Hiya guys, my computers been a lot slower than normal the last week or so. I got rid of some spyware/viruses using Spyware Doctor but still have this issue:

When I enter passwords/login on any website, a window pops up saying
"Either there is no default mail client or the current client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the deafult mail client."
This happens twice every time I log into any site - facebook, email, myspace, even this forum.

It also happens at startup, message pops up once.

I've run DDS.scr but it runs for a while, like few minutes then closes with no log information. I have however run GMR and attached the log. Can you guess help me out please I really need to my comp back to running smoothly for next weekend. Thanks very much :)

when i play videos online the higher quality they are the more they stutter and lag (and slow down)
This just happened all of a sudden, i could play videos fine before.
it happens to videos played using vlc too, but to a lower extent.

i recently changed to 64bit, then updated my gpu driver to 64, which didn't do anything.
i installed macromedia flash 8 not too long ago (bout the same time the problem arose), thought that might have something to do with it, seeing as it's so old, maybe it down graded my flash player or whatever (i don't even know if you use flash players offline....)
