So my unstable pc crashed finally this week (2,5 years old) and on Friday bought a new computer for 1450 euros which is huge money for me right now... Coming home, i was a-ma-zed to see that the exact same problem continued on a brand new pre-installed pc!!! Which means, completely black screen, on both hdmi channels my tv (don't gave a monitor) has, and with 3 different hdmi-cables. But it doesn't even beep and post, just like the previous pc this week! No connection to tv prevents even that beeping sound? How can this be possible? ANY suggestions appreciated, what else could it be than tv?? I've tried unplugging 10 times the power chord etc w no help. I would absolutely hate to go back a 2 hour journey w public transport in a flu to retail place that even opens the repairing section only on monday. Phew.
When I run the "Update" app on "Lenovo Companion" it tells me I need this and then appears to go through the whole installation process followed by a reboot. But then when I run the "Update" app again it tells me I still need to install it, as if it never happened. I went to the Lenovo support page to try to install it from there but I have the same problem, in that after rebooting and running the "Update" feature it tells me I still need to install it. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi all!I have heard and read from several people that ideally, if possible, one should wear rubber gloves when doing maintenance on computer innards.  They say that the gloves have at least two purposes. In no particular order these gloves 1) keep hand oils off the components, and 2) rubber gloves protect against ESD.  Do nitrile gloves work as well as rubber gloves at protecting electronic parts from static shock?  These are the ones that we have lying around.  Would they do?  Or do I really need to buy rubber ones?I'd appreciate your thoughts and comments! Thanks!

Hi all!Maybe I really ought to ask this on Macrium's forum, but would you please explain what the difference between "Differential Images" and "Incremental Images" is?  Free has "differential", but not "incremental" images. Thank you.

I use a monitor switch between 2 pc's I went to switch to my windows 10 pc and it was suddenly on a welcome screen just hanging not responsive at all, I had to force a shutdown with the power button I booted back up and couldnt get to the windows loading screen just a black screen with a blinking dash, I tried to put in a flash drive that has Windows 10 on it so I could try a repair and couldn't get that to load and now I just get a black screen no bios no nothing can't access the bios or boot menu.

I switched the cmos jumper, unplugged power cord, switched off power even took out the cmos battery waited over ten minutes figuring a reset of the bios to default might help and nothing. Still same problem not sure what to do or try, this is all very sudden and I have had no issues with the pc up until this point.
I am trying to upload my pictures from my iPhone 4S to the computer.  When I plug the phone into the USB, the message displayed says, "what do you want to do with your Apple phone" and I choose "upload photos and videos."It automatically goes to a screen that says I have no photos. I have over 1,000 photos that I have to get off my phone because there is no more space on my phone.  The computer does not see any photos on my phone. We have also tried this with our video camera and it will play the sound of the video but not the picture.  Why does this computer have a problem with viewing photos and videos? Our old Dell computer (4-5 years old) has no problem viewing photos or videos as soon as we plug it in.  However, it is so old, that it would take an eternity for all of them to upload.  We just bought this new HP computer and can do less than our old computer.
I bought this computer new several years ago and the hard-drive died today.  I went out and bought a new internal hard-drive, but I did not realize that I also needed to install an operating system with the new hard-drive.  So, I am trying to see what I need to do to get my new hard-drive to boot up?  I do not have the recovery disk that came with my computer.  I was told that maybe HP could send a new Operating System disk so that I could reinstall windows.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Hi All, My 3-year old Notebook has suddenly developed WiFi Internet access issues. For the past month, my WiFi connection has dropped intermittently, sometimes for hours. After running diagnostics, receive various error messages: Cannot find gateway, cannot connect to this network, ethernet adapter is unplugged, have not specified connection for wifi adapter. A few germane notes: 1. Router (from ISP) is functioning properly and signal is strong, usually 100% when connection suddenly drops.2. No bluetooth running, no other network connections except an HP printer.3. Distance minimal -- I am in the next room from router -- and no new 'obstacles' (metal/concrete) between myself and router.4. Have disabled/enabled all adapters including the WiFi, have removed, replaced, & freshly logged on to wireless connection.5. Even hardwired ethernet connection showed trouble being recognized.6. Contrary to error messages, everything set properly in 'Settings'.  Have never had this problem before; are the network adapters on this notebook just failing? (Atheros & Realtek).  Thanks for your help, Kate
So here's my story..... Buy recovery CD's fromHP for 25.00  to recover Laptop because wife's laptop is not working right and slow. (Envy M6-1105DX). Get a error of "PINIST_BBV" so figure because i spilled a drink on it, I would replace the keybroar d for 40.00 to fix problem. Didn't work so replaced WIFI Module for 5 dollars, didn't work.  So replaced the motherboard for 40.00 still no recovery.  Same error of PINIST_BBV. So I want to copy files from my PC to Android phone in the "Last Date Modified" sequence.

That is, the file in that folder was modified the first should get copied first.
Then the file that was modified second, should get copied second.

Is there any way to do this? Like with a tool or something?

I thought that my computer was acting strangely and my first reaction was I thought it was malware, so I ran the "read & run". Well I turned out to be wrong and was directed to open a thread here, so I am copying what I last wrote in the malware forum. If it doesn't make sense, let me know and I shall try to clarify things.

TimW MajorGeeks Administrator - Jedi Malware Expert wrote the following: "
There isn't any malware in your machine, just a bunch of junk.

Rerun Hitman and delete everything under :
Malware remnants
Potential Unwanted Programs

Now let's do some other cleaning:
Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop."

Well, maybe I should have asked before I followed my interpretation of what you said. When you said Rerun Hitman and delete everything under : Malware remnants & Potential Unwanted Programs - I did not see any thing that said "Potential Unwanted Programs" so I did not delete anything other than the Malware, my thinking was that if you wanted items that said "Coupon Bar & Suspicious Program" deleted I could always come back & do it later. I started to run the other 2 programs as directed and had no problems until I was instructed by AdwCleaner at the end of the running it was going to reboot and the log would show up again after the reboot. Well this is where my difficulties increased. I'... Read more
I have an Aspire 5516 that I thought had an issue with the battery being very old. Yet when I replaced the battery with a new one, the laptop came on normally, but was not charging the battery, and eventually it shut off from having drained the battery too low. I removed the power plug and the battery, held the power key for 30 seconds, and then plugged the power plug into the laptop. Pressing the power button resulted in the blue power light on the front and the ON button coming on for about a second, then turning off. It seems like it is polling for a signal that is not present, and shutting down when it is not found. Putting the battery back in and plugging the external power in gives me a very slow-blinking, inconsistant orange light. The machine will not turn on. "Charging" the battery for several days like this yields no different results. I have checked the connections to the plug from the outside of the laptop, and have made sure there is good contact with both the center pin and the outer conductor. Checking the voltage on the plug, I believe I had 15V. Checking the pins that contact the battery (the extreme end contacts) when the power is attached to the laptop showed 0V across them. The other pins showed 3.3V to ground. Online searches mention a fuse that could be the battery's charging problem, but my understanding is that the machine should function on power cord alone with the battery removed. This is currently not the case. Is the ... Read more
Is there any program built into the YOGA 710 or Windows 10 that allows simple word processing for free?
Let me start off by saying that Internet is working fine, and as far as I am aware, my network is okay too. BUT, I can't access any settings related to networking. I can't load Network and Sharing Center. It locks up. The screen shows, and you can see part of it, but one section flashes between showing and not showing (where it has the actual network display), and the window is frozen. What I am ultimately trying to do is get into the Change Adapter Settings window. I have searched online and found a lot of people with this same problem, but no successful solutions. What do you think? Thanks much in advance.
Something is going on with Windows update and new/restored 7 machines. Been going on pretty much all year so far and has been noticed by a great many other technicians besides me.  Windows 7 has seamed to taken the hit hard. With machines I have built
and restored for customers over these past few years. I know how long the update process approximately took with in an hour or 2. but the same machines are now running into days. Something is not right and needs to be investigated by Microsoft to locate the
problem unless it is being done intentionally for some reason. ??? Windows 8 and 10 machines don't seam to have as much problem 8 more than 10 but 7 never used too.

This involves too many different manufactures machines and clean installs of 7 SP1 for this to be a OS install problem. Not when doing the same machine with in less than 2 years and I could turn the machine over and have it ready to return to work in
a day. Not with the current problem with the update system for 7 OS anyway. I have read where this problem has been very frustrating for other techs.

I have tried a number of the so called KB fixes for this and they pretty much do not correct the problem, I believe it is with the update system and older OS's.

If is an effort to force 10 on folks is not good, if they don't like it and just don't want it, or have other issues with it. They ask for 7 OS machines. You have something people really like!!! So keep selling it and supporti... Read more
My screen has developed two spots that activate without touching and the mouse moves to one of those spots.  One is at the very top of the screen and the other is about 2 inches below the first.  At times I can see the cursor jump between the two spots.  Using the touch pad I move the cursor back and shortly after I do the screen will move it back.  Wiping the screen with a cloth wil sometimes stop the movement but after 20 to 30 min it will come back.  I have rebooted the system and it will still do it.  It is always teh same 2 spots on the screen.

I've been suffering from a problem for a while now that has me completely stumped.
Every now and then, maybe a couple of times a week, maybe a few times a day, several things stop working simultaneously on my PC.
Videos won't load (whether streaming or downloaded), some websites won't load or work properly, programs won't load, games won't load (or if they do they're partially broken, eg no sound), messages get stuck on the screen, shut down and restart don't work from the start menu (it shuts down and the monitor turns off, but the computer stays on), and probably some other things that I either have forgot or haven't run into yet.
It can happen after 10 minutes, or after 6 hours, or whatever, it doesn't seem to matter how long the computer is on.
It's really irritating and I cannot for the life of me find the cause or the solution to this problem. I'm pretty sure it's not overheating, and I haven't found any viruses with antivirus scans, and it can happen regardless of what I'm doing so I don't think I'm doing anything to trigger it, it just happens randomly. All of these things work fine, then all of a sudden, at the exact same time, they all stop. It just seems to happen at random. Sometimes, "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack" flashes on and off really quickly right before it happens, so possibly that has something to do with it, but I've only noticed that recently.
I would really appreciate any help. I'm not what i'd describe as computer illiterate... Read more
I have had my Ideapad P500 for a few years now and have never needed the use of my microphone or webcam, however, I recently started a new job that requires me to work from home and use Skype to communicate with my coworkers. The problem is that my internal microphone does not work. I have spent hours troubleshooting the problem both manually and using the Windows troubleshooting utility. By all accounts and appearances, my microphone is working properly but in actuality, I get no response from it whatsoever. I even purchased an external microphone, but when I plug it into the combination audio jack on my laptop, not only does the microphone not work, but I also lose the sound from my internal speakers. This is not by any means the first issue that I have had with this computer, and truth be told, I am pretty unhappy with it general. Please help me to get this issue resolved. I do not want to have to take my laptop in for service for a 4th time in as many years because that is just ridiculous.
I have been experiencing an occasional Blue Screen crash for quite some time now, although it has recently become more frequent. The symptoms for the crash are extremely consistent: - The keyboard stops responding to any commands. (The background lighting stays on, but any button presses are not registered.) - On many occasions, the USB ports lose power and any devices connected to them will disconnect. Aside from these issues, the computer appears to behave normally and can be used for even several minutes before the Blue Screen occurs. - I have attempted to start up the Lenovo solutions center and perform a hardware scan when it is in this state, but the Blue Screen always occurs quickly after the program is loaded. - Restarting the computer, plugging and unplugging the adapter have no effect. In order to resolve the issue, I must hold the power button down and force shut down, at which point the computer starts up normally and keyboard/USB ports work as if nothing happened. There seem to be a large number of related topics, but I am not seeing any that have a solution posted that works. I have updated Windows 10, all my drivers are up to date, and the bios is updated. - Nikita
I have Lenovo y700 gaming laptop. It has windows 10 home operating system. Since past few weeks wireless adapter(Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) is showing abnormal behavior. Many times wireless/wifi available connections list becomes empty. I have tried installing latest drivers from both Lenovo and Intel website against Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 adapter. I suspect windows 10 updates has done something wrong. Sometimes after trying installing drivers again and again fix the issue but appears again after few restarts.
Try as I might, I cannot get the touchscreen to properly calibrate.  I've tried several resets to defaults, but upon subsequent calibration, the screen responds about 1/2 inch above where my finger is touching.  Any ideas?  Newer drivers?
I've had my computer about 6 months today when I opened it up tonight I got a black screen. The indicator lights still turn on but I don't even get the lenovo logo when I try to boot it. Model number is ideapad 100 80mj
Hi guys, I would like to add more RAM (DDR4) to my laptop because I have only 4GB (I need like 16GB) and the question is what type of RAM exactly I need (brand, MHZ, etc.). I think that my RAM is not performing too good in this laptop so I think a RAM upgrade will be helpful. Anyone knows where can I do that without loosing my 2 years warranty? I'm based in London, thank you. Attila
I have an Alienware Alpha running Windows 10. Whenevr i am playing a guy in fullscreen, about 5-10 minutes into it i get kicked out to the desktop. Usually the game is still running, and i just have to click on it. Other times it shuts the game completely
down. Ive gone through the rounds with alienware, and according to them it is not a hardware issue. The only thing i could find that happens exactly at the same time the games kick me out is a Windows security audit. Here is the last one.

I was just in an hour-long chat session, which led to a technician taking control of my computer, updating drivers, and uploading existing pictures to the computer. After that session, when I was told everything was now working, I took another picture, and
still can't upload.
Why could I upload pictures just fine prior to Microsoft's update a month ago, using the drivers I had, and not be able to upload using the same drivers when the update was finally complete?

When the computer starts, it opens a screen that informs me that the hard drive is suffering "imminent failure", and requests that a System Diagnostic test be performed. I performed this test and was brought to an error screen within a minute or so that informed me that the test had failed. I was given a Failure ID code on this screen and wrote it down. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I contacted Netflix support for this issue
and they said it is an html5 issue ?????

ok. The support engineer said to install Chrome.
ok. Chrome runs Netflix a-ok, good to go, on multiple monitors
that have differing resolutions in Windows 10.

Chrome displays Netflix fine on 1 monitor @ 3840 x 2160
and the other @ 1920 x 1080 at the same time

IE does not - Edge does not - the Netflix app does not.

taskbar on homescreen is not working. at first the icons were unresponsive..but now they are gone, there is nothing for me to click. Even my start menu doesn't work.
So I have the Lenovo C40-05 all in one computer and it has been doing something really annoying. For some reason the mouse moves but doesn't register clicks or 'mouse overs', as in when I'm moving the mouse like down to the taskbar, Internet Explorer and other apps don't highlight when the mouse is over it and won't let me click it. The touch screen does not register touch either when this happens, but it's not frozen, as whatever page I am on still works and I can type and use the current screen functions without the mouse. Also, say when I go to click on another tab to switch tabs on google chrome, it closes out the tab even if I am extremely careful not to hit the X. The only way to get the mouse to work again is to hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE and touble click task manager. Then it works for a couple minutes, and then becomes unresponsive again. This happens about every 5 minutes, all day long. Does anyone have ANY idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
